A Scripted Method for Starting MS Edge using InPrivate mode

Q: A Scripted Method for Starting MS Edge using InPrivate mode

What I I need is a reliable method of opening a website using EDGE 'InPrivate' Mode. It would have been nice to have a simple single command-line method but apparently this cannot be done.

On a system with a brand new install of Windows 10 that has been in use for only a few days (The only change being to make Chrome the default Browser) I can get the suggested "Microsoft-edge:" to work from Win+R but not from CLI so not sure how to accomplish this from a script.

I was able to get Chrome to open a specific website using Incognito Mode from a single line command but have had no luck at all using Edge. The last post I could find was on a Microsoft forum and perhaps indicates that there is no way to accomplish this.

Failing a simple method , is there any way to create a script in batch,PS or VBS that would accomplish the same thing?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After the latest update which supposedly fix the InPrivate cache problem, it actually got worse. If you browse anything in InPrivate, the browsing history actually shows up in the regular session.

You can try:

Open EdgeOpen an InPrivate window side by sideDo some browsing in InPrivateNow go back to the regular window and check the history (1st button on the right -> 3rd clock tab), InPrivate browsing history shows up in there.

I've managed to reproduce this both on my tablet and my desktop.

EDIT: I'm running 10586.104.

A:FYI: Edge InPrivate now RETAINS and SHOW history as well.

At work I need to use a web application that only runs on internet explorer, and doesn't support tabbed browsing, so if I opened a new tab it could log me off, or just not function properly.

To override the application's 1 tab restriction, I also open it in an InPrivate browsing window, in addition to the one I have opened in normal mode.

My Facebook chat/inboxes don't show up at all when I'm browsing normally in Google Chrome, but when I'm in Incognito mode they work perfectly. I assume this has something to do with cookies or something similar. Just wondering how I can fix this?

A:Facebook PM's only working in Google Chrome Incognito/InPrivate mode?

I suppose you want to clear your cookies. It wouldn't hurt to clear the cache at the same time.

To clear the cache in Google Chrome
* Click on the spanner in the top right corner.
* Click Tools.
* Click the menu entry "Clear Browsing Data"
* Change the dropdown to "everything"
* Ensure that "Empty the cache" is checked.
* In this case, we also need to ensure that "Delete Cookies ..." is checked.
* Click the button "Clear Browsing Data".

I noticed this problem only this morning when I saw that my Carbonite back-up was not working. After chatting with one of their support techs, we determined that something is wrong with my Internet Explorer 11. I normally never use IE, so I had not noticed. But, since Carbonite apparently needs IE in order to work, this is why Carbonite wasn't backing up.

So here is what happens with IE11...when I click on it (either the shortcut or the exe file), it opens but everything is white. I am going to try to insert a screen cap here:

Entering a URL does nothing and it stays on the same white page. Tapping "Alt" does not bring up the menu bar either. But when I go into InPrivate mode, I can at least get it to show some sites. As a test, I entered Yahoo and while it came up, there were no images. Like this:

Other websites came up okay, such as Facebook.
I tried to install a new IE11, but got an error that it was already there. I tried a couple different methods of uninstalling IE that I found in various tech sites but none worked. When I did a restart, it got hung up on the shutting down screen (over half an hour). I did a hard reboot and got a screen to wait for Updating Windows, which gave me hope it may have uninstalled, but it did not and the problem remains.

By the way, I downloaded the SysInfo and when I click on it, nothing happens...not sure why or if it is related to the problems? Any questions or information needed help me troubleshoot this, please ... Read more

Has anyone tried to Start Windows 7 HP in "Safe Mode" using the usual F8 method?

When I attempt this, I Did Not obtain the usual "Advanced Boot Options " screen, = I have an entirely New Type of screen, I have not encountered before in either XP or Vista under the F8 option, it is a Window (rather than a black Dos type screen) that offered me a selection of the 4 Drives I have available on my Desktop PC, to Boot From =
1. 3.5 Floppy 2. HDD Drive 3. DVD/CD Drive 4. 2nd DVD/CD Drive,

This is of course a very useful addition, as you no longer need to change the boot sequence on your Bios Set Up to Boot from a DVD/CD Recovery Disk, you can boot from your hard drive as the First Boot choice and then tap the F8 key, on Start Up or Re,start, to select the Drive you wish to Boot from (Into which you have Pre, loaded your Recovery Disk)

However, How Do You Boot into the "Advanced Boot Options "menu (If you cant use the usual F8 method) if you have a need the start windows in "Safe Mode" (When in the situation that Windows does not Boot in the normal manner)

I have tried tapping F5 on Bios Start, = this provides the Vista type Black screen Giving you the choice to Boot From Windows 7 = or use "Tab" to select "Use Tools Available under F8" = except you cant select the F8 option with "Tab" (The option just disappears on selection)

Has anyone Solved this one? ......... Best Wishes... Read more

A:"Safe Mode" using the usual F8 method?

Your motherboard supports the F8 - Boot options.

As you are pressing F8 during the initial BIOS screen the computer thinks you want to switch "boot devices".

My machine was working fine. I had been on it for a couple hours just doing regular internet browsing. I tried to open a program (EverQuest 2) and it would open then immediately crash "EverQuest 2 has encountered an error". So I figured, reboot the machine. After the POST, it tells me to either launch start up repair or start normally. I chose start normally. It would go to the "starting windows" screen and the logo will not show up. it just stays there.

Powered down, and after the POST got the same options again. I picked start up repair this time. It would load the bar and show "loading windows files" or whatnot and when the bar would get completely full, it would freeze there.

My computer doesnt have a CD/DVD drive, I installed Windows 7 from USB. So I plugged the USB drive back into the computer and tried booting from that. It would go thru the "loading windows files" just fine, I can see the drive flashing as its being accessed. When the bar filled up, it would progress to "Starting Windows" screen, and stop blinking and just sit there... doing nothing. Tried using Safe Mode. Wouldn't load either.

I have not a clue what I should be looking for to even start getting it working again. The only physical change I've made to the system was plugging in another monitor to my graphic card. And even then, I've shut down and rebooted and it's been just fine.

At this point, considering we cannot acces the operating system, you're left with two options.

1. Perform a System Repair. Boot from the installation DVD and choose "Repair my system". Choose to repair any faults found automatically.

2. A complete reinstallation of your operating system.

For both, I entered the local path to my XML file. Here is where I think something is wrong. This is the path I am using:

Hello all, I bought my lenovo Edge 2-1580 in December, but recently, the display won't turn on after I wake it up from sleep mode. I just resolved this issue recently with my Flex 3 1580, so hopefully my solution works for you.  First, update the video/graphics driver (intel or nvidia) from the Drivers & Software page on support.lenovo.com.  Test sleep mode again.  If the screen is still not turning back on, then update your BIOS.  Back on the Drivers & Software page, look for the latest BIOS update and run it.  In both cases, but especially for the BIOS update, make sure your laptop is plugged in.

A couple of nights ago Windows requested to do some updates. It had 2/3 it automatically picked but I decided to look at the optional updates it recommended but didn't select. I went ahead and asked to install all of them. After restarting and rebooting computer since then my computer hangs/gets stuck on "Starting Windows". It's not a freeze I guess as the logo is still animated whilst booting but I've had it like that for 2 hours without success. I searched the issue up on google and it seems very common after windows updates (never happened to me before however) but every fix/solution suggested seem to vary drastically between HDD Fault/Motherboard dying/You downloaded something naughty etc, etc.

I can't make any progress on many of these "solutions" though. When pushing F8 upon boot and then selecting "Repair my computer" the screen will turn black and I will only be able to see a low quality cursor. The other route to many solutions was via safe mode but that doesn't load either anymore. I booted from safe mode successfully once, restored from a previous point on the 12th of February (maybe the last boot before the updates) and stupidly let windows shutdown and install the same updates again, I think. Since then it also gets stuck loading files.

I'm hoping somebody could assist me with this...

I'm looking to setup a printer for a group of approximately 30 people. The company does not use a print server and they can not be persuaded to create one.

Even though they are network printers; they are installed locally using a TCP/IP port that will need to be created at the time of printer installation.

Rather than taking a couple minutes to install this printer manually, I'd like to push it out via a batch file (if possible).

Another kicker, I believe the HP LaserJet 4250 printer drivers are not included with WindowsXP Professional.

Could somebody please point me to a good resource for doing this? I've already looked at Microsoft KB article 314486, but the process seemed to be very vague.

This HAS to be possible, I just haven't figured it out yet...

I often for work have to run my laptop (Win7 Enterprise) with wireless and/or wired connections using a static IP address... but then of course, have to change it back to automatic to connect to the internet. Sometimes I have to regularly toggle back and forth between the manual/automatic settings as I switch between two wireless networks. Constantly going through the steps to reach the appropriate dialogs gets pretty tiresome, but I figure there has to be some way to script the whole thing... either a batch file, or a VBS script, or if all the options are in the registry, maybe I could create a series of .REG files to merge each time I need to make a change?

Short of that, something that will give me a single-click into the TCP/IP V4 settings would sure save a lot of hassle...

I'm sure you realize that if the network for which you need to use a static configuration lacks a Dhcp server then you can put that configuration on the Alternate page of the TCP/IP properties.

Searching I found two utilities that seem to have the desired functionality: Net Profile Switch (free?) and SwitchPro (definitely costs). I know nothing about the programs nor the providers.

Are you starting from the Safe Mode screen where it says "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"?If so, then you'll most likely have to run Startup Repair with your Vista installation DVD. Here's a link on how to do it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/If you don't have a disk, here's a link with some info on how to make one: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blogs/usas...?showentry=1261

I am running Windows 8.1. The SDNH error keeps popping up and is really annoying. It doesn't seemed to be tied to anything and crashes randomly.
sfc /scannow came back with no problems. cmd was in administrator mode.
Here is a log for one of the events in Reliability Monitor.

I keep getting this pop up message saying Sdnh has stopped working and windows will shut it down and notify me if there is a solution. They never notify me. Is this something that I should try to fix and if so, how.  I am completely in the dark as to what this is.  I would appreciate if someone could help me or answer my question on this. Thank you in advance.  bubblez2000

Your description of the problem is lacking in detail so it is difficult to home in on a specific issue and/or solution. However, you may want to try the following:
Open an elevated command prompt and type the following message (without quotes): "sfc /scannow"  (note the space between the C and the / is required).
This will take some time to complete; however, if system corruption or errors are reported, try running this command to fix them:
(using an elevated command prompt again without quotes):   "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth"  (note all spaces are required).

This error started popping up this morning. I have not installed or uninstalled any programs within the last several days, but I did do an Error Checking and Defrag via the Disk Management tool.I ran /sfc scannow and it returned some errors and stored them in the CBS log file. That file can be found here: https://merkd.com/ufo/cbs.logI scanned through it myself but didn't really know what I'm looking for. Is anything in this log file indicative of a problem that would cause this error? It happens automatically after starting my computer up even before I start any programs. The only bootable program I have is my Avast anti-virus. I did a total scan but it came up empty. I've also tried a clean-up and registry fix through CCleaner but again, no problems were detected and nothing was fixed.Any help is greatly appreciated, this error is very annoying.

Hi I've been receiving this error message saying "Scripted Diagnostics Native Host has stopped working" for the past few weeks, and I have no idea what started this.
I've tried downloading this antivirus program called Avira to test whether or not my laptop has been infected but that doesn't seem to be the issue here?
Sorry I'm not too sure what information I need to post here in order to help you guys resolve this issue, but it'll be great if any of you could tell me what you need to know about my laptop or this problem in general in order to stop this message from occurring!

My apologies if this questions has been previously answered, but I have been unable to find a solution.
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel core i3 (4030U) CPU @ 1.90GHz 64 bit OS, x64 - based processor

I receive the error when at idle for a few minuets, and when troubleshooter of any type is run.
It also prevented me from changing from Ethernet to wireless.

I preformed a SFC which found no issues.

Please provide a suggested fix with step by step details.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!
(I am in urgent need to fix this problem so I will not have any interruptions in my online classes)
