I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,
I hope someone can help. Only had Win 2K loaded yesterday and very new to it. When I, for example, send a p.m. a message is presented asking whether I wish to "save values at this site". What is this, please, and is it possible to stop the message?

Thanks for any help,

Hi all

Just a stupid little problem with W7 I noticed which is VERY confusing but simple to fix.

I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.

With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing.

The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.

Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.

on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.

I couldn't find the answer by googling but a bit of "trial and Error" fixed the problem.

Unfortunately i just cant have a decent fps in ut2004.It varies from 14-20 fps
with 1024x768 16 bit and the other settings at normal mode

i was wondering if there are any programs that use cpu resources to emulate functions that should be done from the vga card and thus improve the overall fps(since my cpu above the recommended cpu for ut2004)

any help will be really appreciate

You can always try to play in software mode but that would probably result in even lower performance. Unless you have a very high-end laptop, they're simply not good gaming machines & the upgrade options are close to zero.

When I tried to install Windows XP I had to change the BIOs to make it boot from the DVD ROM drive and when I turned off my PC it kept coming up with the message "No Emulation" and then carried on booting to Windows... upshot is I installed XP by clicking on the icon in the folder and XP installed over ME and there's still loads of files left around and everything is acting up...

Can my PC not boot from a CD? If not what can I do? I really want to completely wipe my hard drive and have a clean install of XP on it... in a couple of weeks I'm getting a new Hard Drive and want to install XP on that and if I can't do it from the CD I'm confused how to actually go about this.

I've searched all over the internet to find an answer to this question to no avail. Just people saying 32-bit programs work on 64-bit, which is not true.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and I'm trying to play good ol' King's Quest games but unfortunately they will not run on a 64-bit OS and as far as I know there is no 32-bit in the compatibility settings.

When I try to run any King's Quest game I get the following error:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.Click to expand...

I'm fairly sure Sierra never released any patches that make King's Quest Collection compatible in 64-bit. Anybody know a solution?

Or anything else that results in more maintenance.

I had a chance to try Vista today and found myself pleased overall with the functions and features on it. I was curious though-- unless this has been changed, Vista supposedly uses emulation on games and programs that are designed to use DirectX 9 and earlier. I was wondering how much performance is lost with the emulation. I'm a huge gamer, and my FPS is a big deal to me. If anyone could let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

A:The DirectX emulation

"Vista supposedly uses emulation on games and programs"
The statement should read that older games and programs that are NOT compliant with Vista may need to be run in a Compatibility mode.
It is NOT a Vista issue, but the fact that some software was NOT designed to run on Vista.

If you are a GAMER, then you may have hardware issues also, the same issues here as with software. Some high level gaming hardware will need new drivers and upgraded.

I would make sure that all of your hardware and software are compliant, or wait until your games have been updated.

I recently installed an HP Officejet Pro All-in-One L7580. I work from home a lot and I installed it on my company laptop with no problem. I then proceeded to install it on my desk top, an HP Pavilion a250n w/ Windows XP Home. I use a USB switch to print on either system. I also have a FreeAgent 750 GB external hardrive for backups on the desktop. This external drive has worked fine for more than a month. But as soon as I installed the new printer I received error messages for the FreeAgent that it failed to save data and it may be lost "$Mft" and my FreeAgent goes off line and the USB port is no longer recoginzed. And the printer will not work either. If i reboot without the FreeAgent and I try to print a document one of two things will happen. You either see it spool through the printer window it in the STATUS column it says "printing" then quickly changes to "deleting" and nothing happens. Or I get a message that says "document failed to print" and my printer will spit out page after page of garbage. I quickly cancel the print job before I waste paper and ink.
I have unistalled and installed the printer several times. Each time I uninstall the printer the FreeAgent works just fine. Install printer, the FreeAgent no longer works and the printer goes haywire.

Let me apoligise in advance for the length of this post, I'd rather include too much info rather than too little.

I'm not a complete noob in the world of computers, being my friends "tech support guy" back home, but my problem is completely outside of my experience. I'm currently studying abroad in Austria for a semister, and so I brought my old HP zt1195 with winXP sp1. While downloading Cakewalk (mostly legally; I own the software at home, and deleted it from that PC before I left but forgot to bring the install CD) I ended up with a suite of virus'. Everything that I had ever heard of and then some; Sasser, VX2's, etc. After a few days spent running and re-running ad-aware, spybot, spy-sweeper, hijackthis, registry mechanic, and killbox, I said those dangerous words: "Well, it will either work perfectly, or won't boot at all..." Guess what happened.

In the course of getting rid of sasr I broke my lsass. I've tried safe booting, LGC booting, everything, but I still hang with the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022) LSASS.exe." The pointer moves fine, but nothing ever is going to happen.

Being the fool that I am, I didn't bring my XP CD with me, but a nice Austrian in my dorm Neroed an XP sp1 CD for me so I can try to repair the damage. I've changed my boot order to CD/DVD, but run into the non-emulation boot error. I don't know if this is the result of using an im... Read more

You will be prompted as to which configuration do you wish it to be removed.
Select the original configuration.

Remove anything else you wish to remove. ( You can remove just about

When you are done removing items, return to the hardware profiles, delete

Reboot.
If at any time you wish to replace items that you removed, simply run the

I work for an agency that uses a public safety program that only works with IE8/9, which support for these browsers is being dropped. The county we are based in is "supporting" this program from a major vendor that apparently sees no need to
get it updated to support IE11. I started messing around with running the program in IE11 through various methods. I first tried Enterprise Mode, but that will not work with files that are on the local drive. I ended up adding a meta tag to all of the
HTML files that renders the pages in IE emulation mode. When clicking an event button it pulls current data from county servers and populates a table, you can then click on an event for more information. The second time you click an event button the table
is shrunk down to about half the width of the browser window and clicking an event results in an error. Close the program then reopen and it works initially again, then error the second time. This never happens when running in IE 8 or 9, only when
using IE11 in emulation mode. I suspect there is an issue with how JavaScript is being handled but don't know for sure. If you specify running IE9 emulation for example, does that mean HTML and JavaScript are handled exactly the same as that version
of the browser? Anybody have any other ideas on emulation? We are kind of stuck in a bad place with this as multiple municipalities all rely on this. Thanks

Depends on the version of Win7 that you have (and the capabilities of your system).

The following are all free:
You may be able to use the Win7 inbuilt XP machine
You may be able to run Virtual PC2007
You may be able to run VirtualBox
You may be able to run the VMWare player

When setting the Virtual Machine up, you may want to allocate extra RAM to it - so that the programs will function better.

Hello, I gotta say, I feel a little late to this technology table, but must say am eager to learn more about exactly what it does and how to best go about setting it up, for example if I had to reinstall the OS, could I have these DVD images on its own separate partition and reintegrate them into the new install once done.

This all came about by reading a blurb about CD DVD emulation and did search here and found many threads, actually too many. Most where of specific questions or advanced setups that at this point don't help me. I have only an idea about what exactly they do.

Its my understanding they create a virtual CD DVD rom drive for the purpose of loading game CD / DVD's to the HD so as not to need the disc to start the game.

Is that the gist of it??? If so, I'm very much interested in them as I'm always searching for the discs when needing them.

Here's some that I've found (some free, others not) ...free is better at this experimental point.

1. Magic Disc
2. DAEMON Tools Lite
3. Magic ISO
4. Virtual CloneDrive

I'm sure theres more but thats a start.

What I need is an understanding about setting up the partitions/HD.
Do I need a partition for each V disc?
Can I make a 100gig partition and load about 6-7 DVD games to it?
Is a new shortcut needed to direct the V disc program to the game .exe?

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. If theres a tutorial please post link, couldn't find one.

Thanks for reading and any help

A:OK So I'm Behind the times, CD/DVD Emulation?

To build the image I usually use Imgburn (freeware). You can actually make your own disc structure with it. To mount it, I use Daemon Lite.

You don't need to make new drive for each Virtual Disc. Of course you can make multiple, but what for? One is enough and you can swap the discs at will by using the Virtual Drive manager (e.g Daemon's).

to the damn processes to stop running them. I've also run multiple

and delete them. But upon a rescan they find more...even when my

computer is disconnected from the network. I would just delete the

I have an application that runs in a DOS environment in Win 98. I am trying to move it to an XP machine. The application uses a special serial port driver that was being loaded in Config.sys (under Win98). Since XP does not have a Config.sys as such, how can I emulate the load of this driver in XP?

Definition used in Config.sys: DEVICE=C:\COMMDRV.ONE 4096,1

A:Config.sys emulation in XP

From Microsoft, concerning Windows XP & it's limited DOS support:

Block mode device drivers are not supported. Block devices are not supported.

The 16-bit Windows subsystem on an x86 computer supports enhanced mode programs; it does not, however, support 16-bit virtual device drivers (VxDs)

Any application or device which involves using a 16-bit driver cannot be used on XP or later.

The driver you referred to in your post is almost certainly a 16-bit driver.

The main problem is that XP & later do not have a "real" DOS mode as found in earlier versions.
XP, Vista & Win 7 use a virtual or emulated DOS which has several limitations compared to the "proper" DOS that old-timers will remember.

You can certainly install "proper" DOS on a separate partition, bearing in mind though that you'll need to find compatible DOS drivers for the other devices that you need to use in that environment. Since Win98, all my DOS apps & drivers have ended up in the rubbish bin as I've managed to find alternative Windows apps for everything I need. DOS was a good learning tool for me 12 years ago, & I still know most of the commands, but I no longer need it.

I am trying to plug in a printer via USB, but the computer has to think its a COM port in order to configure the IP address...

A:CD Emulation Programs?

Hi Matt, they're basically programs that enable you to mount virtual images...programs such as Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, CloneCD, Nero, UltraISO etc etc. You would generally know if you have installed any such programs but there is a chance a CD burning program may have installed one by default during its installation.

A quick and easy way to see if you have a virtual drive installed is to see how many CD/DVD drive icons you have in My Computer.

im trying to install windows xp onto a new computer (i built). the hard drive is new, i bought two HD, both from different places, and both seem to be ok. When i changed the boot to cdrom, so i can install windows, i get:
boot from atapi cdrom:

i then tryed to format the harddrive using my laptop and an external HD case through ieee1394. the format worked fine, and when i put the cdrom in again and tryed to install windows, it says the same thing, i can get to the beggining installation screans of windows xp, but it gets hung up on trying to load files, before i can do anything. im going crazy, willing to try anything! thanks for your help!

Hi all,

Has anybody ever used or knows of a modem emulation software? I need to connect to a computer remotely and it only accepts modem to modem connections. Since I dont have a computer with a modem I thought maybe there was some software that can communicate with a modem via tcp/ip . This computer has a database I need to connect too and it only accepts modem connections. Ancient yes but I have no choice.

Thanks!

Hello let's try running MBAM first, maybe we can remove some malware.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. I have some questions about emulation and virtualization that I need cleared up.

1. Is emulation legal? . If so, where do you get emulators? I'm always wary about downloading stuff from the internet and getting viruses, malware, etc.
2. Is there an android emulator that will run on a windows 10 machine? I'm looking to play a game that will run on android devices on my computer.
3. Will Mac OS High Sierra run on virtual box inside a Windows 10 computer? I was told that Mac stuff will only run on Mac computers, but I was also told it is possible. Which?
4. If Mac OS High Sierra will only run on Mac systems, then is the Mini Mac the cheapest way to start using it? I only want to just do basic stuff like learn how to navigate around a Mac and familiarize myself with it.
5. If i want to run other OS's on virtual box (such as Mac or Windows), do I still need to buy the other OS? If so, are any student versions available?

I was wondering if there was anything like the 3 button emulation I've gotten so used to in Linux available for Windows. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it effectively adds a third button to a two button mouse by sending a middle click when you press both buttons at once. I've become quite dependent on it after spending so much time in Linux, so any help would be much appreciated.

Getting a mouse with 3 buttons isn't an option for me since I have a laptop and don't want to haul a mouse around everywhere.

Hi guys, yeah it's been a while if some of you barely remember me.

Anyways, I have Alcohol 120% and I've been trying to copy and emulate Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne. I've been able to copy it with errors, which leads to a corrupted installation, and I've been able to emulate it, but it can't get the game running.

I have legitamately purchased the game over a few years ago, yet lost my CD somehow (still have my case with serial).

The game only needs the CD to start up, then it can be removed. That's what I've been doing for the last few days, running over to my friends house, grabbing the CD, running it, taking the CD back.

Any way I can end my nightmare?

Thanks so much.

A:CD Emulation/Copying - not working

Get yourself a "no-cd" crack of the game? At first glance, there seem to be fake CD images around that you can mount in Alcohol.

okay, so i found myself an emulator program, yay.\
and it would be this one.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B95...9oc1JPeU0/view

now, from what I read in the readme, i DO actually need a copy of the game to make this work.(so i think that means that legality is covered) however i run it and it says that the following .dll file is missing.

enginelde.dll

now, i downloaded this, i put it not only in the directory with the executable for the emulator, but i ALSO put it in the system 32 folder. yet, the program still can't find it. so i'm obviously doing something wrong. help?

Edit: i also put it in syswow64 . no change.

A:Game system emulation

Hi cookiesnmilk :)

Usually, the program is supposed to provide the needed .dll if it's not native to Windows. In that case, endinelde.dll is not. I took a look inside the .rar archive, and I cannot find it either, so I would ask the developpers to take a look and re-upload the emulator with the .dll included in it.

Hey all,

Ive got a problem I put myself in.

My old windows xp home edition drive C is messed up by some virus, it is set up in a 120GB hd (hd 1). I installed a new 120GB hd (hd 2) and work off windows xp pro on it. So recently I decided I should clean out that useless drive so I deleted all the stuff on hd 1, partitions and everything through a windows xp pro bootup cd. But as I restart trying to get to hd2 i get the error message 'no emulation - apti cd rom' something like that during boot up. Usually I can get to a menu to pick out which hd I want to run, but not anymore.

so

I installed windows xp pro onto hd 1 and now it just automatically boots up to that, but I do not want hd 1 with windows on it at all. I want to start up with hd 2.

the problem is starting windows xp pro on hd 2, cuz I cant even get to it.

thanks, any help is great help.

A:Boot up problem - 'No Emulation'

ok, so it turns out that I sorta fixed my own problem... yay.

Basically what I did was use windows recovery console and optioned to fix my drive. Then I use command bootcfg to add boot paths to the system. Now it will allow me to use hd 2.

I guess having 2 windows installed wont kill me.

I have a Dell Latitude D620 with 2 USB ports and a Serial port. I need one of the USB ports to emulate a serial port. How do I do that?

A:USB Emulation of a Serial Port

I'm not sure that can be done or why one would want to do it.

If you could give more details someone else might have a idea.

What are you trying to hook to what and for what reason.
