I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was conducting a presentation at a school with my Lenovo Ideapad 310. The projector and the sound system we're hooked to the computer. When the sound system was turned on, my computer went dead. No display, no power to it, no sign of life what so ever. I've tried removing the battery, plugging it in, holding down the power button, putting the battery back in and putting the whole laptop back together. Still nothing. Any other ideas on how to fix this or what the problem may be?

I purchased this laptop new just a couple of months ago and already having a serious problem. I went to turn it on today and the power light comes on but that is all. It makes no sound and the display stays dark. It was fully charged when I shut it off last night so I know that wasn't an issue but I plugged it in anyway to make sure. I have manually shut it off by holding the power button in and the power light goes out, but same thing when I push it again. Not sure what to do but I hate to return it because I have important things saved that I hadn't backed up recently. Any help would be appreciated.

I was using my Laptop as usual plugged in to the charger and all of a sudden my screen went black and laptop turned off. I tried pushing the power button and turn it back on but no luck. Even the power indicator LED doesn't light up when I plug in the charging cable. There's this weird "tick tick" sound coming from the charger when I plug it to the laptop. Any solution for this? Is this a issue with my motherboard or charger?

My yoga 2 pro is a month old.  I used it this morning, then left it for a few hours.  When I came back I pressed the mouse key to get the intro screen.  It came on for a second and then went black.  I pressed the power key but nothing happened.  It didn't even light up.  I waited a few minutes and tried again.  I held down the power key for a few seconds.  Still nothing.  What should I try?

hi sjwach,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try to unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for 30secs. When done, try to turn the computer ON and observe. If the unit doesn't show any signs of life, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings.

I have a pretty new ideapad, bought maybe 2 months ago, and for some reason it's not turning on. It was working fine the night before but now when I press the power button the light turns on and sometimes it sounds like it booting up but then stops halfway through. The screen remains entirely black through it all. I've tried removing the battery and restarting it but that didn't help at all. Anybody have any clue what I should do?

Hi, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 300-15isk this weekend and needed it for work this week, but it is really frustating, it is brand new, out of the box and it won't turn on. I hear sounds and I see lights, so I know the system is working, but I am stuck with a black screen. I wanted to do a ''hard boot'' but I don't even find the battery. I have had this laptop for 2 weeks, working fine.  Suddenly today it will not turn on or off.  It seems to be stuck in an endless cycle where every 5 seconds the Lenovo logo appears on the screen then after a second it turns off and then reappears after 5 seconds....  This continues repeat despite trying to turn the device on or off, even holding the button for 20 seconds etc.  Any thoughts?

When I push the shut on button, laptop starts to turn on but after 1 or 2 seconds it turn off suddenly (like a cut of energy). After that, laptop turns on normally and works perfect. I'm worried because I think that the cut of energy could damage HDD or something else.I tried with solution center but it shows that everything is okRestored system and the problem still there. I'm afraid that is a hardware problem.

Hi Mperal ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can follow the initial power check out guideline (page 21-22) from the hardware manual initially.
Checking probable point of failure such as adapter functionality we hope that a spare one would charge up the battery while the laptop is turned off. Battery indicators should indicate change in status after 1-2 hours being plugged in.

Here is the official service center locator but you may consult with other repair center to verify the cause until you can get back to your location where your inwarranty service would be available.

A friend asked me to look at his U430 Touch because it wouldn't come on. I have tested the power supply at 20.4v to both the center pin and the shell. The battery shows 7.18 v between black and red. I have disconnected the battery and the power supply, done the tricks to discharge the capacitors and bleed off any residual voltage. Those did nothing. I then removed all power including the CMOS battery and tried again. Still nothing. I tried connecting the power supply with the battery out. Still nothing. The only indication of life is that the Charging Light comes on when the battery is connected and the power supply is on. No bump of the fan, no flash of any light, nothing. Oh, if I hold the power button on for 20 seconds with all power sources connected, the Charging Light will go out for 4 seconds, so I know that the power switch is functional. I would appreciate any words of wisdom. I hate to think it is the motherboard. Thanks,Dennis

Hi everyone, my 100s Ideapad recently had a charging issue where it won't charge unless you cram it in. So, I ordered a new charger off of Amazon with the same output voltage. However, when I plug the charger in, it doesn't show the charging light or turn on. I tried unplugging the battery and holding the button down, but it didn't work. The gold part inside the charging port is loose, I think that's what's wrong. Does anyone have any fixes?

HI, I recenty bought the Ideapad 100s  and am generally satisfied with it. But sometimes (about 7 out of 10 attempts), laptop does not turn off when I shutdown the computer. That is, the power light (one next to the battery light) is still on. In fact, I know that the computer is really not turned off because the battery life goes down when that happens.  So I have to press the power button for about 15 sec to actually turn off the computer. And I do not think manually turning off the computer like that is not good.  What might be the problem and how can I fix it?Thanks,

I was using my laptop this morning, closed the lid, and went on to use the wifi from my phone (my wifi is weird in that I can only have one device connected at a time. I don't think this is relevant, but who knows?)When I went back to my laptop and opened the lid, it didn't start up from hybernation. I noticed that the battery light was blinking orange, so I plugged it in. Now the battery light comes on as white (which means charging but not critical battery life.)But when I push the power button, nothing at all happens. The power button usually glows when it's powering up, but now it doesn't do that. Nothing at all happens, except for the glowing white light aignifying charging when it's plugged in.Also, I notice that when it is plugged in, and when I press and hold the power for some time (10-20 seconds) the charging light will stop glowing for a bit. But beyond that, nothing happens: no fans, no sounds, nothing. This is one of the worst times for this to happen, since I have so much to do on my computer. Thanks in advance for reading this, and thank you for any help you can give.

Hi Barmod ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As you have tried doing power drain , it would be best to proceed with the recommended power check out as described from the hardware manual (page21) :

To verify a symptom, follow the steps below:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Connect the AC adapter.
4. Make sure that power is supplied when you turn on the computer.
5. Turn off the computer.
6. Disconnect the AC adapter and install the charged battery pack.
7. Make sure that the battery pack supplies power when you turn on the computer. If you suspect a power problem, see the appropriate one of the following power supply checkouts: ? ?Checking the AC adapter? on page 21 ? ?Checking operational charging? on page 22 ? ?Checking the battery pack? on page 22

Isolating from the ac adapter with another known good charger can help determine other probable cause like dc in port issue ( specially if the cable get easily loose) , power button and board (test if Novo button can turn on the system) or the actual systemboard itself (where battery indicator light should be able to show up led for charging).

Update us how things go.

I just brought the Ideapad the week before Halloween. My very first time buying Lenovo ends up a disaster and somehow I have lost confidence in this brand. After just one week of usage, it suddenly freeze and turn into a black screen, with the power light on, yet never able to turn on the screen no matter what buttons I press. Black screen can turn up in the middle of documents typing. When I'm out to toilet or kitchen, back to the seat, oh it's the forever black screen again.  I thought something wrong with the sleep mode, so I press NEVER so that the computer will never go to sleep mode. But it was useless. Scan for problems. No errors. Try doing updates. Nothing change. Last week I phoned the Lenovo hotline for help, the staff taught me to change the power setting. Nope, it didn't work as well.  At first it's just two to three times a day, and now it can happen like once or even twice an hour. The computer freeze all the time and have to go restart all the time, and it sometimes freeze in the start screen. And freeze when surfing on internet, not a black screen, yet not able to move the mouse. Freeze Freeze Freeze, everything is getting worse. What can I do? For reference, I have never installed games. All I have installed are Evernote, Chrome and LibreOffice.

Hello,  After 4 and a half months of not being able to use my laptop, I'm getting very frustrated about my brand new lenovo laptop. I bought my lenovo ideapad 700 in Germany in August (240V). I left in September for a year abroad in Japan and used my laptop on the first few days until the battery went down. After that I tried to turn the laptop back on again but nothing worked: no lights, no reaction, nothing. I was using an adapter to conevert the voltage of Germany to japan's voltage (100V). I tried with different chargers, adapters - I tried everything. I even went to a computer store here in japan but even the guy in the computer store did not know what was the problem. I also tried to unplug the battery (from the motherboard, I didn't actually screw it out) and held the power button for at least 30 seconds and tried to turn it on again - still nothing. I tried everything I could think of and with everyday, my frustration and disappointment in lenovo gets bigger. Please, I just want to use my laptop, help me..  Desperate regards,Robin

I googled for some time and could find solutions without using screw drivers as this has built in battery. I got this laptop like a month ago. its working fine on day 1 but the following days, I cant turn it on without using charger even though the battery is 100% charged. When on battery, it wont turn on. Then I plug in the charger and tried to turn on but it wont start. The plug in light is on. And I would need to wait for around 30 minutes to try to turn on again. When turning on it would show something like this. Sometimes, the screen would blink in dark green and I can hear the starting up sound repeatedly but it just wont start. Anyone can help with solutions without the need to open the laptop as I have no clue to do that? Thanks in advance

I bought the lenovo ideapad 300s about 6 months ago, and in the first 1 month it cannot turn on. But after few days it came back normal, so i didn't go to service center. Few days ago there's problem in the monitor, when i used Ms.Word and press "enter" button the screen will be black for a moment, but it didn't happen for the other button. It also happen to the google chrome, when i opened the chrome tab the screen will be blank, but if i move to other program tab (even for mozilla, ie, word, etc) the screen come back to normal. It also very often to hang, the cursor cannot move and keyboard cannot typing, so i shut it down from power button. Once it turn on it would be blank screen (just like if it is off) for about 10 minutes and then there's notification like the picture i attach, but again i cannot scroll it up or down or press enter, so i can do nothing to the option. Until now it cannot be charged (i plugged in but the charging indicator lamp didn't turn on). So the laptop is out of battery and cannot turn on.  PS: my laptop is still in warranty period, but i bought it in Indonesia and now i'm in Taiwan, so i'm not sure about the warranty.

Hello, the cooling fans of my IdeaPad laptop turn on and off very frequently (even if the laptop is almost idle - let's say when I'm just viewing a page in Chrome without performing any activity like clicking or typing). They usually run for about 30 secs or so and after that they turn off and no noise from anything is audible. But after another 30 secs they turn on again and that cycle repeats all the time. I did a search on the net and found a potential solution to the problem here. But after updating the power settings as suggested nothing changed (I restarted the machine). On the other hand, I didn't find any options about that in BIOS. Is there any way to control the cooling fans, because it's kind of bothering to hear them turn on and off all the time?

Well, uhm... First of all: Greetings! This is my first... well, post here.I'm having a rather distressful issue with my ideapad 305. I've had it for roughly two months. Here's the situation:Early this Sunday morning, my laptop was working just fine. I turned it on for about half an hour and then shut it down to do some stuff. After returning home some hours later, I turned it back on and did some work - the usual stuff. I shut it down after a couple hours and then tucked it securely in my backpack and left to visit a friend. When I took my laptop out and set it up and turned it on, it emitted a faint "fffrt" sound after a few seconds of starting up and shut down. I was surprised and turned it back on. Everything went normal until it prompted me with the black screen and white text pointing out it had shut down oddly a few moments ago, and it gave me two options: Continue as normal or check and repair any damage. I, of course, went for the latter and then was prompted a minute later with the option to roll back in case any data was damage, losing some of my data in the process (installed software and such). Because I didn't want to risk losing anything, I went for "No" and the process cancelled itself and the laptop shut down. That's where the problem began: My laptop refuses to start up again. Whenever I press the power button, the LED lights up for a brief instant and nothing happens; no sound, no fan working, no nothing. I tried plugging the charger and the small LEDs that te...
