Lenovo ThinkCentre M92P SFF + Asus nVidia GeForce GT 1030 GT1030-2G-BRK + Intel SSD 535 480 GB = :(

Q: Lenovo ThinkCentre M92P SFF + Asus nVidia GeForce GT 1030 GT1030-2G-BRK + Intel SSD 535 480 GB = :(

Hello, the weirdest thing has happened. I've read all kinds of posts of the nVidia GT 1030 card being compatible with fairly recent ThinkCentres, but after 2 hours of exhausting attempts I still could not start my M92P SFF desktop with a GT 1030. A few years back the excruciatingly slow stock HDD was replaced with an Intel 535 Series 480 GB SSD, and the first thing I saw after installing the GT 1030 video card was the message 'Operating system not found'. The SSD disappeared from BIOS. Removed the GT 1030 and everything is fine. Checked that the SSDs BIOS was of the latest version, updated the PC's BIOS, found out that it was booting in legacy non-UEFI mode. Converted the system drive to GPT, switched to UEFI booting and everything worked without the video card. I was sure the problem was UEFI-related, because even without the GT 1030, prior to switching to GPT, when attempting boot in UEFI mode, I was getting exactly the same message 'No operating system found', the BIOS did non detect the SSD. Having done all this, I plug in the GT 1030 and bam! Same crap. The BIOS does not see the SSD! But why? More this time, not only it did not detect the now GPT SSD, but a couple of seconds after powering up the M92P would not turn on at all, no matter how many times I pressed/for how long held the power button. It was making some sound from the speaker though, as if it was trying to power up, but couldn't, it was not an error beep. So I had to remove the GT 1030 once again and the PC is booting, seeing the SSD and working just fine. I need this card to work because I already have it, have bought a 4K monitor and onboard graphics can't do better than 1440p. Wasting money on another POS video card is not an option. Please help! I've tried all the settings in the BIOS - UEFI, legacy, etc., with the video card installed the PC does not see the SDD neither in MBR nor in GPT and does not boot, the video card itself works perfectly, it's just that I can't boot with it installed. Some weird compatibility issue here. Also can't go back to using an HDD, it's too slow, even though I have an old 600GB VelociRaptor lying around somewhere, cannot sacrifice usability. Plus there is no guarantee that if I clone the SSD to VelociRaptor it would work. There must be something I can do, please? UEFI is UEFI, right? If it boots in UEFI without the video card, what makes it lose sight of the SSD once it's installed? Does it go into some 'deeper' UEFI state with the GT 1030? I'm completely lost.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been recommending the GT 1030 here for some time as the best low-power graphics adapter (30w.)   It is now listed in the readme file for the Nvidia driver (2018 releases - M92p example) on the Lenovo support website as a supported card.

It is known to work in systems going back to the M90p generation.  And while it is available as a full-height card, most are low-profile cards, suitable for SFF systems.  Be sure the check the length of space available in a SFF, especially for the M710s & M910s models, before you decide to buy, to ensure you get one short enough.

The GT 1030 has twice the performance as the GT 730 (the previous best 30w low-power Nvidia card, which this replaces), and has important new graphics card features, such as DX 12 and 4K HDMI, and support for PureVideo HD 8 and Feature set H.

I had a Geforce GT1030 video card in my M81 and each time it booted up, would go to black screen or go to black screen before finishing booting to Win10.  Ive actually tried several different Geforce cards with same results.  I took out card and used onboard video with no problem.  Gonna try ATI cards but seems like an issue with M81 and Geforce driver set.  I have even tried messing with bios settings to no avail. Anyone else experienced this?   Thank you!!

A:Lenovo Thinkcentre M58 & M58p: yes, is compatible with GT 1030

I'm a huge fan of the GT 1030, but haven't seen any posts here on it and the M58/p.   You may be the first to try it, however the GT 1030 does work with the next gen model, M90/p (and newer), and I haven't seen a case where a GT 730 worked (on systems with PCIe ver. 2.0 -- GT 730 is known to work on M58) and the GT 1030 did not (meaning it has good backward compatibility, unlike AMD graphics cards.)  That doesn't guarantee that it will work, but there's a very high probability.  I hope that helps.

Edit:  Earlier versions of the M58 and all M57 have PCIe ver 1.1.  I would not recommending using a PCIe 3.0 card (GT 1030) in a 1.1 slot (PCIe 2.0 cards like GT 730 do work in 1.1 slots.).  Check your Intel Chipset specs to see which version is supported.

Edit 2:  I'm now thinking that all M58 had version 2.0 PCIe. M58 did have 2 generations of Intel processors, but I believe the Chipset stayed the same.

Hello Everyone,

I had a quick question here. In 2016, I purchased a 2012 Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p. It is Windows 7 Professional, and has 8GB of Ram. Intel CPU up to 3.20 GHz.
I love it to be honest,  but have just now received word that Windows 7 will no longer be supported after January of 2020. I was wondering if it will be possible for me to upgrade this system to a Windows 10 ? I do not want to buy a new computer, and do not want to try and continue using Windows 7 after it is no longer supported. Can anyone tell me if this is possible ? Thanks.

The GTX 750 Ti could work with a SFF M92p.   Upgrade to the latest BIOS beforehand, CD ISO method is most reliable.   Check that there aren't any taller heatsinks on the motherboard that could interfere with the graphics card (refer to photos of the card.)

Since your system is older, to ensure the necessary airflow, clean the front air intake and fan with vacuum and canned compressed air, jam the fan with a cable tie or similar so it can't spin and over-speed.  Same for CPU fan and heat sink, and vac the intake and rear exhaust of the power supply.

I can confirm that this MSI brand low-profile  GTX 750 Ti 2GB  card works perfectly in my M93p SFF machine without upgrading the PSU:   MSI N750-Ti-2GD5TLP

Measuring the power draw running Prime95 (CPU benchmark) , FurMark (GPU benchmark) , charging mobile phone via USB and copying large files at the same time , it stays below 190W.   Have been running this for several hours. I have also been playing Fallout 4 (FullHD, ultra textures, 60 FPS) for 100 hours without any problems.   As the case is quite compact, I was worried about the temperature but it stays below 80C for the GPU at full power over extended periods of time (about 25C ambient temp in the room).

Installation is ok. Just mount the low profile bracket and move the PCIe 1x WiFi card (if you have one) into another slot.  Preferably le... Read more

Problem solved toay,You need to open your machine. Find the cmos clear jumpers.Move the little cup from positions 1-2 to 2-3. Unplug Hard Disk. Close the machine. Insert a portable USB DVD to a usb port (have a copy of the new bios on the cd) and turn on your machine. It will boot from USB DVD drive and it will load the new bios. Machine will shut down after the new bios update. Open agin the machine, plug the Hard Disk and put back the jumpers to 1-2 position. Unplug USB DVD and it will boot from Hard Disk. That's all. IN OTHER WORDS: Bios update can be done if first you change the jumpers on motherboard.

A:Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p. After updating the BIOS from 06/30/2017, the system restarts constantly.

Burn a CD with the BIOS ISO, and follow the procedure for recovering from a failed BIOS update in the HMM.   If unsuccessful, do the same with the previous version of BIOS, which is at the very bottom of your system's BIOS download page.

Edit:  try the older version first, if that works, then do a regular CD ISO update to the latest.

I have been using a Display Port to HDMI Cable with my M92p for a long time now to connect to my 2 Philips Monitors. I now wanted to connect my M93p the same way and I'm now struggling to do so. I just cant get a signal out through Display Port no matter what I do neither in Bios nor on Windows. And on the PC side, my Monitors are not recognized at all. As my setup works with the M92p, the cable and Monitor are OK I guess. Why does M93p fail? Apart from VGA, the Display Ports are the only other Option. Lenovo Thinkcentre m92p sff (3227) makes Beep sound when powered on since I updated the bios to the version: 9sjw99usa.exe.Also since I replaced the stock lenovo Fans with Noctua fans it makes a second beep (so 2 beep sounds total and there is a fan error in the bios event log), when I connect back the stock fans it makes only 1 beep again. Ok... I looked for about an hour and decided i would have to make a new thread for my specific problem... so sorry if im making my first post in an odd place

I recently installed a NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX PCI 256MB DDR video card
followed directions as best i could, and disabled the Intel integrated graphics... but my PC insists on REinstalling the intel integrated graphics controller upon restart... It left me alone for awhile and i could run Counter Strike : Condition Zero moderately well (low frames after playing for over an hour) but after allowing my computer to update itself (while using IE to dowload firefox for a reinstall, IE randomly decided my home page was going to be the microsoft site for the day) and since then no matter what i do the computer insists on trying to reinstall the intel integrated graphics thing...

so my question is, how do I make this stop? how do i keep the computer from giving me the dreaded "found new hardware" bubble when im using a FAR superior (REAL) video card already?

is there something i do in the BIOS (i hope not, i dont like messing around in there) or on the motherboard itself?

i have some basic info about my comp in my signature but im going to use "PolSystemInfo" to find all my PC specs and just copy paste them below, I just hope its enough info to help so... Read more

Hmm that didn't happen to me when I put mines in. Did you install the NVIDIA drivers? Try disabling the onboard in the device manager. That?s what I did. There doesn?t seem to be an option to turn it off in the bios (my bios) maybe there is for you however. It isn?t too complicated. Just simply look for onboard graphics or integrated graphics controller or w/e and select disable, but first try disabling it in the device manager. It should be listed under display adapters -> properties -> disable this device.

You should upgrade to DX9.0c...

Hi, Im thinking about buying a new graphic card and found a card i liked named ASUS GeForce 9400 GT. On the website where they sell it its located under the tab Nvidia, yet if I check out Nvidias prducts page their 9400 GT looks completely different from this one. Then I check out ASUS page and there I find it. So what's the difference between ASUS and Nvidia, why do their cards have the same name, and why does the website im buying it from put the ASUS card under Nvidia products????

A:Difference between ASUS GeForce and Nvidia GeForce???

Nvidia designs and makes the GeForce line of graphics chips. Other manufacturers such as Asus, evga, BFX, PNY and others then use the Nvidia chips in their graphics card designs.

I HAVE this persistent beeping from my pc speaker...at first i touht it was my graphics card because it was telling me it wasn't gettin enough voltage...and i solved that because i somehow installed 4 monitors...dunno how but now my smart doctor tells me my card's fine...if i run a game, like starcraft for example, my computer starts to beep and im positive its coming from the small integrated speaker inside my pc... its really starting to piss me off cause iit's only when i run games...if i exit the game after 5 minutes or so, the beeping stops but its just soo annyoing..its getting to the point that i want to throw my computer out my window...hints the name windows... well i am willing to take any suggestions you guys might have

Hello Everyone,
I am new here, and i need help from senior members i want to buy a new graphic card for my PC. I have heard that it cant run latest Graphic cards which use DDR3 or DDR5 , also what is the relation of power supply wattage with graphic card???
My PC config is
Processor; Intel Core2Duo E7200 (2.53 Ghz)
MotherBoard: Intel DG31 PR
Ram: 2 GB DDR2
Graphic card: Nividia Geforce 9400 GT.

A:Can Intel DG 31 PR support Nvidia Geforce GTS 450 ???

Hello and welcome to the forums, Tarique!

From looking at your desktop's motherboard specifications that are listed on this site by Intel:-

Intel? Desktop Board DG31PR — Technical product specification for DG31PR

Your mother board has a PCI-E x 16 slot which should be able to support the GTS 450.

The only question that remains is whether your PSU (Power Supply Unit) can support the card; what is the wattage of your PSU?

Please check your PSU by opening up your PC's case and having a look at the side of the PSU for the manufacturer's sticker or something that would indicate its specifications.

Don't forget to fill up the rest of your specifications also by following this tutorial:-
System Info - See Your System Specs
This information is very important, we need it before we can proceed with answering your question(s).

So I was thinking about getting a new graphic-card and wished for one for Christmas. Naturally I assumed that the "9400 GT" would pwn "7900 GS" but doing some research seems to imply that that isn't as obvoius as I thought it was. When I got the 7900 GS like 3 and a helf years ago that was top-stuff, very expensive card, but I figured a relatively cheap one, like 9400 GT would still out-perform it hands down. Im just wondering if thats the case, or have I made a bad wish xD

I'm in the process of helping my parents buy a computer for someone. I've narrowed it down to 2 PCs, one with the Intel GMA 3100 the other with an Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE. The PCs basically have to be able to run Sims 2. If anyone has any recommendations as to one or the other opinions would be welcome.

If anyone has any opinions on ATI RADEON X1250 with shared memory they'd be welcome as well, this is in a laptop comparably priced.

No integrated graphics will run the game enjoyably. Get a desktop that's good by other parts, and add a Radeon 3450 or such cheap little card, for 30 $ or so, and it's much, much better for playing the game.

Hai everyone,

I have a problem that's bugging me for a pretty long time.

I have a Lenovo b560 with Intel HD integrated and nVidia GrForce 310M. I haven't found the option to change my primary display adapter to the nvidia one anywhere.

Is it anyhow possible?

A:Force nVidia GeForce 310m over Intel HD

Just found out that disabling/uninstalling the Intel HD adapter won't switch to the GeForce one for primary either, it goes to VGA graphics adapter or smth like that but just can't get it on the nVidia one :/

I am planning on building a gaming PC with a budget of around $900, I have chosen the Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card, Intel Core i5-2500K processor and the MSI P67A-GD55 motherboard.

When looking at the specs for my CPU, I was intrigued to see that it said "Integrated GPU: Yes"
What does this mean exactly? The motherboard I am getting does not have on-board graphics, is this a problem?

Thanks in advance.

A:Intel Core i5-2500K and Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

No, it's not a problem. The Core i5's have some GPU processing integrated into the CPU itself, not really something you need to worry about if you are using a decent standalone card.

Is this video card Over Clockable ? if so what is the recommended software for doing this ? i have tried a lot but nothing seems to work , CPU-Z when i open the clocks fields are empty . I have attached a picture of what i mean sorry guys im a newbie to over clocking

A:Asus 9800GTX+ Nvidia Geforce (Dark Knight)

it should be able to overclock just about alright; but be advised that if you want to overclock it do it in incremental way; so you know how far you can push without impeding your system's stability or any hardware damage.

Hi there!
After my computer (a desktop not a laptop) was repaired after some issues on it I tried to play some games (Rome 2 Total War and some other) and encountered some delays when trying to play them. When I looked into it I discovered that the games used Intel HD Graphics 3000 instead of Nvidia Geforce gtx 680. So I tried to switch from Intel to NVIDIA. After reading some articles on this in the internet I deactivated the Intel graphics card in the device manager hoping that it would automatically switch to the other graphics card the NVIDIA card this way. But this did not happen instead the screen turned black and I?m now not able to even get to Windows or my BIOS settings. How can I fix this? Do I first have to reactivate Intel before I can switch to NVIDIA and if so how or is there a possibility to directly acces NVIDIA instead?

Looking forward for suggestions on how to solve this

Finn

A:How to switch from Intel HD Graphics 3000 to NVIDIA GEFORCE 680

Normally, Windows uses whichever video is detected by the BIOS (and if the BIOS detects a video card usually it will switch to that card).

Since this was serviced, check the power connection to the Video card (if it has one). Could be it was disconnected by the service tech during service and was not reconnected. If the card is still installed, the PCIe power connection is needed or it will not be detected or work.

Also, if you switch Video from the internal to a separate video card, you must physically switch the Monitor connection to the Video card.

I need help deciding... I'm either going to get the ASUS Radeon X850XT PE, or 2 ASUS GeForce 6800 Ultras (SLI.) The X850 is around $700, and the 2 Geforces are around $1400. Please help me decide which is better in PERFORMANCE, I am not looking for value.

A:ASUS ATI Radeon X850XT PE VS. nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra SLI

Apples & Oranges

Well the only flaw in your thinking is that a 256MB has a snowball's chance in hell of competing with a 512MB dual video card setup. With SLI using the 6800 Ultra, you are not just doubling the memory, you are effectivly using two 1.1GHz GPUs to reak havok upon any game you could possibly throw at them. I know you said that you are not looking for best "value" but overall system performance. Hands down, the SLI config would be the obvious winner here.

With that said, the X850XT-PE is a smoking fast card. It boasts more features than the 6800 Ultra, and actually has a faster GPU when comparing against only one 6800 Ultra. For $700 you are no doubt gonna be the big boy on the block for quite a while. Most casual gamers are not going to drop that kinda look for a video card, for that matter, many of them may not have even spent that on their computer.

In summation, for raw brute-force power to handle anything you throw at it, the 6800 Ultra/SLI config is clearly the victor here.

Similiar to the issue and solution described here for HP: https://itpeernetwork.intel.com/intel-amt-wireless-options-missing-on-hp-platforms/#gs.8q0lzx There are no "Wireless Settings" in the Intel AMT WebCOnfig of my Lenovo Thinkcentre M93p. On the page linked above, a solution is described to activate the Wirless Settings and use them. Is there a similiar solution for Lenovo Platforms? I have vPro certified Hardware, including the Intel Wireless AC 7260 but the "Wireless Settings" is missing.
