I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last night when shutting down the virtual machine within Win7, the virtual machine hanged. Win7 gave me the option of doing a forced shutdown, which I accepted. But now this morning when I try to re-open the virtual machine (which is powered down) I keep
getting the error message "The virtual machine could not be started. An unknown error occurred."  PLEASE HELP: I have months of research stored in the virtual machine which I need to retrieve. Any suggestions gratefully received.

ive gone back to a restore point and even repair/reinstalled the OS, (not a clean install, id rather not wipe this drive if i can help it.)

That file probably got into your startup somehow. Click on Start->Run and type "msconfig" Click on the Startup tab and see if that file is somewhere on that list. If it is, uncheck it and reboot.

Hi everyone,

I really hope there is someone out there who can please help me with my problem.

As the topic title suggests, I have been attempting to play various short avi video clips through my Winamp (latest version 5.52) player. The video starts playing, but after a minute or two, the program stops/crashes, and the message:

'Runtime error: P6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call'

pops up. I really don't have a clue what that means, if it can be fixed, or what I need to do, so I'd be hugely grateful if someone could give me some advice on this.

I've not had this problem before, and I recently upgraded to Winamp version 5.52.

I have the feeling that the install is corrupt. I would uninstall Winamp. Then download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and check anything to do with Winamp and run it. After that try reinstalling Winamp*** Note: The utility should not be used with Windows Office products***

While playing Skyrim I get the above error message and the game crashes. Nothing else crashes, no other games, web sites, or streaming media, only Skyrim. It started after I fell for a virus troll saying that my Abobe needed an update (which I downloaded). It then installed a secondary search engine that opens in a second page every time I open Google. The other page displays a search bar that says Mixidj and I cant get rid of it. I tried searching the problem and followed the steps outlined to be rid of this thing but to no avail. Neither Malwarebytes nor Avast can locate it, I purged it from google and blocked it, but it still opens every time Google does. Skyrim never crashed before this, and has crashed ever since.

I mean I could totally wipe my system and start over which I do occasionally just for giggles and grins but I would like to see if I can fix this.

BTW I'm using XP SP2 with most every update except IE 7

All help is greatly appreciated.

I will let you know I did google the error message and got something about the whole Microsoft issue with Java Lawsuit blah blah blah. Also I found some threads of what other people have done to try and fix this issue, but I don't have any chickens handy and I can't wait until the moon is in the seventh hour of the seventh day of the seventh... you get what I'm saying.

Once again all help is greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with XP. I clean installed and everything went fine. When I go to a site to play an online game, my system comes up with an error and/or reboots. The error says I don't have enough Ram and something about an error with JAVA. I have 512 ram right now. I took that out and put in my 256 chip to see if maybe the ram is bad and it looks as if both are fine. So I tried again and as it loads the game, poof, it auto reboots.

I never had this problem with ME.

Any help would be appreciated.

When changing games at Pogo.com, I've been getting occasional crashes from my Firefox 1.0.2.

It happened again tonight but, this time there was a file left on my desktop.
I used Notepad to open it and save it.
The contents of that log are in the link above.

I'm hoping that someone knowledgeable can interpret the log, identify what is
causing the error and possibly suggest a fix for whatever causes these

This is the first and only time such a log has been left after a crash.

Ok, I purchased a game called Minecraft for my daughter this morning and have so far been unable to use it.

When we tried to download and run it, an error message appears that says:

'Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.'
'Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.'

I really do not have a clue what this means, I would really appreciate any help or advice. I'm not technically minded at all so please go easy on the jargon!!

Also, note the Windows XP mode is installed, but because of the XP virtual machine configuration msg above, I can't go further.

I have Googled this situation to no avail. Found a few vague postings but they have lead to dead ends.

I can't get rid of this popup every time I open my pc.
I have tried everything.
Here's the error :

Java Virtual Machine Launcher
Error : could not open 'C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\lib\amd64\jvm.cfg

There is no amd64 folder in the jdk1.6.0_21

Thank you.

A:Java Virtual Machine Launcher error

I don't actually know the answer to your problem, but there may be a clue in the error message where it refers to ' jdk1.6.0_21\lib\amd64\jvm.cfg' .

JDK refers to the Java Developers Kit, which is only needed if you intend to develop your own java applications or applets (see the explanation on the Sun download page;http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html). If you aren't a developer you probably have the wrong type of Java installed which is looking for a component you don't have.

As the JDK also includes the JRE that end users need, you probably don't need to do anything until you upgrade to the next JRE version when the next security scare turns up! If the popup is too irritating, I suppose you could uninstall the JDK and replace it with the JRE (although there are a few threads around here where people are having problems with Java uninstall and reinstalls).

As a matter of interest, do you by any chance have an AMD 64 bit processor, since that is the other thing the error message appears to mention?

I'm using an AlienWare M14 machine. I tried to create a virtual machine locally using Client Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro, but it still doesn't work (took me a lot of time). I added the Hyper-V features in "Turn windows feature on or off", and all of the requirements to run Hyper-V are fulfilled (SLAT, BIOS, 64 bits, ...) (I attach the msinfo32 output in this post). At the last step in creating a virtual machine, it says "... General access denied error... (0x80070005)" (for details, check my attached image). I googled, tried some solutions but still no luck so far.

Thanks for any help.

I am trying to to a repair installation on my Win7(64) Pro system: the one called "Upgrade" which does not delete user files, settings or programs. Every time I try to run the setup program from the DVD I burned from the Digital Rivers ISO I downloaded, the installation stops and I get the following Compatibility Report: "The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading...Setup was unable to determine whether there is any virtual machine installed."

I've no idea what this means but want to fix the problem so I can run the repair installation setup. Any ideas?

A:Repair installation: error message about virtual machine

Wild guess: Do you have XP Mode installed? If so, try uninstalling it, see if that helps.

Have you tried disabling your anti-virus, shutting down everything you can then try the Repair? You could even try How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

If nothing else works, backup your data and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

It wipes everything so you definitely need to backup first. I know this is not what you want to do but it may be the best way to fix the problem ad Google had nothing to offer for this problem.

Hi, it looks like some time ago my computer got infected. I tried to delete the virus manually, so I erased a file called servidorcito.jar (that's Spanish for "little server"). After that, the following dialog box keeps popping up every minute or so. If I don't dismiss it, it just sits there and a new one does NOT pop up.
Java Virtual Machine Launcher
Error: Unable to access jarfile c:\Users\RRP\AppData\Roaming\Frutas\servidorcito.jar
(OK button)
Things I've tried:
Verified that .jar files are associated to javaw.exe
Checked startup items for calls to javaw.exe (found none)
Looked in registry for the string "servidorcito.jar" or suspicious uses of javaw.exe (found nothing)
Scanned whole computer with AVG free (found nothing)
Checked HiJackThis log for any obviously related items (found nothing)
The problem does not appear when only Java 32-bit is installed, it only appears when I install Java 64-bit. Uninstalling Java 64-bit makes it go away.
I've attached a picture of the dialog box and the DDS attach.log.

Hi rino009.

Before we suggest any troubleshooting steps, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
It is a must to see before saying anything to you.

Hello to everybody,
I am trying to post a help request here since is much time i try to solve this problem without success.
What brought me to post the help request is the new fact that i get the same error after ported my
system in a Virtual Machine.

I explain better.
Several years ago I purchased an HP Desktop P6228it equipped with Q8300 CPU and 6Gbytes of RAM.
It came with Windows 7 (don't remember if Pro or Home) and I updated it with W7 Ultimate.
It worked fine for long time when suddenly the DVD stopped to work.
I supposed to be an hardware failure so i didn't cared to much, it was not essential for me.
Then also the audio stopped to work. It was neither essential too, so i didn't cared.
Then I realized that some other "exclamation points" was showed in the Device Manager.
I have at moment a "code 3" for the following devices:
Audio, Intel ICH10LPC, Intel QuadCPU, Display, CD-ROM.
I tried to install a PicoScope device and also it have now a "code 3" error in the device driver.

Recently i virtualized all my systems as sort of backup procedure.
Also this PC has been virtualized and tested.
During the test of the virtualization on a completely different computer i surprisingly noticed that
also on the virtual machine the same errors was listed.
So i realized the computer has not hardware problems but completely software problems.
I would really appreciate an help about this "code 3" error.
I followed a number of hints and procedure... Read more

A:Driver Error code 3 with not working devices also on Virtual Machine

I finally managed to solve it!
I have finally found this link:

windows 7 - Several devices in Device Manager have Code 3 error - Super User

The instructions are related to Win7 32 bit.
I exported a REG file of a Win7 64 bit machine I also have.
I imported in the defective o.s. and IT WORKED!

It has to do with a wrong setting of the file: wdf01000.sys
My registry was rather different than a working one.
It should look as:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

I hope this info will help others!

I just installed windows 8.1 pro on an MSI z97 pc mate motherboard with I5 3.3 ghz processor, 16 gb ddr3 1600 MHz ram, with embedded realtek pcie gbe NIC. I checked and found that hardware virtualization is enabled by default in the BIOS.

I tried to set up a virtual switch using the latest bios and drivers from MSI. I created a virtual switch choosing the external option and the share with host OS option. I then connected to the VM. No network connectivity on VM but host still worked.

I then used autopatcher to update windows 8.1 on the vm. I removed and reinstalled the virtual switch choosing external option and share with host OS option. Same conditions occurred.
And then I installed the latest NIC driver. Same problem - media disconnected.

I tried this process with the latest driver from the realtek website which was a couple years more up to date. I had such high hopes! Same problem.

I then used msconfig to prevent all non-Microsoft services from starting and rebooted. I removed and recreated the switch and I was still hoping for success. Same exact conditions occurred.

These are the conditions that occur whenever an external switch with host os sharing enabled is installed in between all of these troubleshooting steps. It looks exactly the same every time...

Can someone explain the difference between these 3 programs?

A:Remote desktop, Virtual Machine and Virtual Box

Hi Jason6161 Two of these words are closely related, while the other one isn't.Remote Desktop is often a reference to the "RDP" acronym, which means "Remote Desktop Protocol", a protocol used by Microsoft Windows systems to remotely connect to another Windows system (or even other OS now). There's a nice little article on Microsoft website about, I suggest you to give it a read. If there's something you don't understand in it, let me know and I'll explain it to you.Connect to another computer using Remote Desktop ConnectionA Virtual Machine is like the state name, a machine that doesn't exist physically, it only exists virtually inside a system. It's the emulation of a system inside another system. So you could for example have Windows 8.1 installed on your computer, but using a program, create a virtual machine running Windows XP in it. To put it simply, it's running an independant system (guest) inside a system (host). It's what we call an "hypervisor". A program that allows you to create and manage virtual machines. I've got a few machines on Virtual PC, copies of one base installed template, all running XP Pro.

I moved one of these virtual machines to another box, and now that virtual machine cannot talk to any other virtual machine on the original box, or the original host itself.

Any ideas why this is?

What do I need in order to fix this problem? This pop-up message appears when I patched my game

A:Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error" error message

According to the error message the application (the patch you installed) isn't working right and for you to contact the folks who made the patch. I'm guessing that would be the support team for Audition Dance Battle or perhaps the support folks for all of e-games.com.ph

::E-Games - Audition Dance Battle::

E-Games Portal

Let them know exactly what the error message says, the specific ID number for the patch you installed, specific info about your computer (make, model, version of Windows you're using, amount of RAM, CPU, etc) so they can figure out what's wrong. In the meantime, you could try uninstalling the patch while waiting for a response. Sorry I can't be more help.

In Virtualbox's main screen, select your XP machine (do not start it). Click settings. On the left side, click System. On the Motherboard tab, set Base Memory to 1024. On the Acceleration tab, be sure that both boxes are checked. You may need to enter your computer's BIOS and enable its virtualization features. On the left side, click Display. On the Video tab, be sure that Enable 3D acceleration and Enable 2d video acceleration are checked. Click OK to save the changes.Start the XP virtual machine and let it finish booting. Above XP you'll see a menu bar. Click Devices > Install Guest Additions and follow the prompts. You will not be able to install your ATI drivers. Virtualbox is emulating its own set of hardware for Windows XP to use. My instructions will tell Virtualbox to give XP enough resources to run your game.As for the game itself, if it is on a CD, click Devices > CD/DVD Devices and make sure that your CD drive is selected.

Hi guys..... I did some tweaks from the guides section, turning off a whole bunch of things that automatically ran on startup but that apparently concerned only things I don't have, like a home network...(I'm using Windows XP, by the way)

After doing this, now whenever I try to save or open a picture and it brings up the window with thumbnails of all of my saved pics, it has a "virtual runtime error" saying it has tried to do something in an unusual way and now must close.

Now I realize I can go through and turn each thing back on one by one to find the culprit, since I wrote down everything I changed in case of just such a dilemma, but I'm hoping someone on here might have some idea just what would cause this problem so that I DON'T have to go through it all one by one! lol!

So if anyone has had this problem and knows what caused it, or knows how to fix it, can you please let me know? Thanks!!

A:Virtual Runtime question....

What brings up what window? Windows Explorer, Photoshop, MS Paint, PC Paintbrush 2.0?

It would help if you would tell us exactly what things did you disable so we can point and laugh Actually we would tell you what you should enable.

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me with the following. I tried to use VMware's free "converter" software to convert my physical HP machine to a virtual machine. However, when trying to run the virtual machine, it says that the virtual machine has two processors & that it is limited to only using one processor, & therefore, will not start. The physical machine is a dual core processor, but I see no way to configure the virtual machine so that it only has one processor.

It seems to me the software should just configure itself to at least run, and from there a person can try to tweak the settings and be advised if there are limitations at that point, but that would make to much sense. Alternatively, they could provide an easy way to change the settings so you can at least get the thing to run, but again, that would make to much sense.

Anyway, if anyone can help me get the virtual machine clone running, please let me know.

Due to an error with Windows Update ["WindowsUpdate_8024001F" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" which 'magically' fixed itself after a number of rebooting because of the the runtime error mentioning here] I performed a clean boot following the steps
mentioned here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows
Normally, upon restarting, I am brought to the login screen with my user icon, and after entering my password I am able to log on.
Upon restarting after configuring msconfig.exe for a clean boot, I am stopped at the login screen. My user icon and the password field does not load, and after about 30~50 seconds, the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error window pops
up. If I press OK, the error window disappears but the user icon and password field does not appear. Wait another 30~50 seconds, the  Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error window appears again. This seem to repeat endlessly.
EDIT: I have never had runtime error before, and the error isn't popping up again, unless i configure for clean boot.

I was able to log back in by reverting the changes in msconfig.exe during Safe Mode, and so that is not my question.

I want to ask, what are some possible reasons for this error window?

Every time I try to open my MS Outlook 2003, I receive the following error:

I really need to use my Outlook, and I cannot figure out how to fix this. I have tried searching on microsoft.com and found nothing useful.

I came across a possible solution on symantec.com (because I have Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Internet Security) and they said to run Live Update for the fix. I did that and it did not fix it.

I also came across a possible solution that required changing a file extension. The file they said to change was C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AntiSpam\MsouPlug.dll. I was to change ... Read more
