I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I have recently been scammed with a transaction via PayPal but at the same time I was sent a file which I think was an attempt to take full control of my PayPal account.

It's a little kid that's doing this and he's using a VPN to access the Internet and a VPS to route the traffic of the RAT.

Is it possible to reverse engineer a Trojan at all to find some information I can send to his VPS provider to help track this guy down?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knew this. I know that there are two possible ways to access databases using objects, one being to use DB4O, and the other using the Ado.net Entity Framework. What's the real difference between these two ways? Thanks.

This past Monday I was online and using TrenMicro's housecall to check my pc for malware, and in the middle of the scan, McAfee alerted me to 3 trojan files on my pc. The trojan was called New Win32 and while two files were deleted, there was one that couldn't be deleted, cleaned, nor quarantined. McAfee alerted me to this menace two more times. The next day I ran McAfee's scan to pinpoint the trojan, and I ended up with 0 results. I did it twice more and got the same results. I used other scans: a-2 squared, windows defender, kaspersky.....nothing. Days later i am instant messaging with a friend on yahoo and her pc keeps crashing on her and at the same time she kept saying that she can see that I'm typing but no words are appearing. So we ended the chat session and called it a day. I was chatting with someone just a while ago and their pc started crashing and she could see that I was typing, but no words were appearing. Mind you that on both these occasions I was sitting with my hands by my sides doing nothing. Hello,

I am trying to reverse engineer a Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) for an existing Access 2000 database.

I don't have Visio.

Anyone know any good free software that can help me with this?

Thanks,

A:Entity Relationship Diagram

Excel has many different shapes on the Draw menu (look for Auto shapes button)that are used for Flow charts. It also has "Connectors" (lines & Arrows) that will join to the shapes at various points. Once connected they will move with the shape.

It's not as versatile as Visio, but will get the job done and still look good.

"Honey, the printer don't work again!"

Sigh...

Ok, I have one box with two hard drives.
At startup a boot menu opens and I choose
whether to boot into Win8 or Win7.

Win7's 'name' is PLAY-PC
Win8's 'name' is/was HOMECOMPUTER

What was happening is that at times I was logged
onto the wrong OS/'name'.

So I renamed the Win8 OS to PLAY-PC, so now, no matter
which OS I am using the wife can now remotely use the printer.

All is fine....except....

I cannot find a way to delete/remove HOMECOMPUTER from the
list of Mapped Network 'drives' .

Windows cannot access \\HOMECOMPUTER
Well yea, because it no longer exists...sheeesh!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

there is this application that i am working on as my project work. i want to draw entity relation diagram for the database as part of the documentation.

my question is can you have one relationship relating to another relationship? for example, client withdraws from his account and can also transfer funds from his account to another account, this should as well record the staff that did the transfer.

i hope to hear from u soon

A:Drawing Entity Relation Diagram

I think you might be over complicating things.

It seems to me, however the money is being moved, you are preforming a transaction. All of the relationships would fall under that regardless of the transaction type. The transaction table would hold the key values to pull the actual data from their related tables. I think those are the relationships you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Recently started having problems with web browsing. Kept getting re-directed to websites I hadn't chosen when doing Google (or Yahoo) searches. Some of these sites were listed as dangerous, and blocked by my Webroot Spy Sweeper, others were just odd and unrelated to my search (Realtor.com, etc).I was still using IE 7, so first tried upgrading to IE 8, but that made no difference. I have Norton 360, and Spy Sweeper. Norton hasn't detect anything but a few Tracking Cookies. Spy Sweeper recently detected a couple threats: Trojan dermoDNS, Fakealert.gen, and Rogue Security Products--says it successfully quarantined all these. Spy Sweeper is now blocked from getting updates--can't find my internet access, even though I am obviously still connected. Tried turning off Norton's Firewall, and that made no difference--Spy Sweeper still couldn't connect (but Norton can...).Since I was still having the problem, and my Anti-virus/spyware programs were unable to find the cause, I downloaded Ad-Aware. It found Win32.Adware.ABetterInternet. It Quarantined this, but said it might be tough to get rid of. Ad-Aware is also blocked from getting updates (just like Spy Sweeper).Found and downloaded Symantec's BetterInternet Removal Tool 1.1.3--'Fix Binet'. Greetings. Frequent reader, first time poster. I've browsed the forum on and off for some time trying to locate the answer to my troubles, however with most of the threads locked (and not wanting to bump old posts) I figured my best option was to post a new thread in hopes of gathering some more information.

I work in a medium sized business with 50~ employees. We recently decided to allow wireless access for employees, newer computers with internal wifi, and customers. Now, I'm savvy enough to know how to setup a wireless router without using the instructional CD and just accessing it directly via the IP, that's all fine and dandy. However, the range of one singular wireless router hardly covers 20% of the building. And I ran into another issue I'm hoping two have some help in. So here's my two situations:

1: The main network hubs are located in a maintenance room far off in the corner, so setting up a wireless device there was not beneficial. I attempted to set one up via an ethernet port in the middle of the building. This worked without issues, and connected fine, however- The wireless router now has it's own separate set of IPs instead of "being one with the main router/hub." Our default IPs are 192.168.15.***, while this wireless router has created a separate set of IPs with 192.168.1.***. This wouldn't be much of an issue were it not for the fact our server needs to be connected via RDP through some wireless devices. So we... Read more

A:Setting Up Multiple Wireless Points as One Entity

1. Any wireless router can be used as an ethernet switch and WAP as follows.

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. [You will not need a cross-over cable if one of the "routers" is a computer.] Lea... Read more

Hey

I currently having trouble allocating multiple resource to an entity. For example, I have 3 'physical bays' set as resources and every time a truck comes into the workshop, I want to allocated 2 physical bays to the truck for repair.
I am not sure on how to do it. I have tried using the Process module, with a Delay Release and under the resource I have added a 'Set' of resource called "Physical Bays" (In which there are three resources). I have also set the quantity to 2 but it does not seem to work and i come into errors.

I?ll try to make this as short as possible. Two years ago my sister gave me a Toshiba Tecra S1 (yes, by today?s standards it is old) that her company was giving away because they were purchasing new models. It sat in her closet for a year.

Because it was a company laptop I knew it had to have a lot of wear and tear. There were several accounts on it; I was really surprised that their tech department never upgraded to SP2.

So I cleaned up the system by removing all accounts but my own. I upgraded the RAM from 512 megs of PC2100 to two gigs and I updated the XP Pro to SP2.

I ran Seagate Tools for a hard drive diagnostics as a standard procedure on the original Hitachi 4200 rpm. It passed the S.M.A.R.T. and Short Self Diagnostic Test but failed the Long test every time.

Also, when I analyzed the Hitachi for fragmentation I was prompted to drefrag because I was showing 12% defragmentation. Here is the thing: No mater how many times I defragged when I analyzed again it told me I needed to defrag. Even after immediately defragging I was prompted to defrag reporting 12% each and ever time.

So fast forward; a number of people said with the repeated Long Test fails it was time that I replaced the Hitachi which I did with a brand new Seagate 54000 rpm a year ago. Everything went smoothly and the HD was immediately recognized.

But here is the thing: The Windows defragmentation utility constantly reports 12% fragmentation Seagate even after defrag. And I am... Read more

A:Toshiba Tecra S1: Harddrive Destroying Entity?

You probably know this but I have to ask anyway...
Is this 12% due to hidden or system files?
Have you looked at the analysis report to see what is actually fragmented?
You could also try running the Advanced System Care defrag utility (uncheck "skip files larger than 1GB" under the options menu). I find their utility to be faster and better than Windows defrag.

Remove the asian language. That should do it. I think if you use the language bar on the taskbar that a key combo, Ctrl + Space, will trigger that.

I'm thinking of possibly minoring in computer engineering in college because of its supposedly high demand in the job market.
What do I need to know to become one? What type of "code" of whatever is needed? Is it like C++ or HTML or Java? I'm a newbie, so if you can just explain what I need to know and why would be nice!

A:What do I need to learn to become a computer engineer?

If you check the college prospectus, it will tell you the minimum requirements to study the course. You will generally need a basic understanding of how a computer works as well as how to compile code, with a basic knowledge of coding if possible, as you will be taught more on the course.

I am almost done with my associates degree in Computer Networking. So I am not a total noob at this, but my friend's computer has me stumped. Here's the scenario.

They have a wireless network. The router and modem is upstairs, with a mac connected to it. Downstairs are two pcs, both wireless. Things have been working for about 7 months just fine. Then, the other day both the wireless computers couldn't get on the internet. Running an ipconfig shows both computers still on the network. Both computers were able to ping each other and the router. I released the ip addresses and renewed them, DHCP server works fine, issued them the ip address. Both were once again connected to the network, able to ping the router. Still can't get on the internet though. I checked the access lists, which I set up for them 7 months ago so just their computers can get on. Nothing has changed, their mac addresses are still the only ones that can get on.

So I got rid of the access list anyway. Same thing, computers are on the network but can't access the internet. Shut encryption off on everything, nothing changes. Reset router to factory settings. Nothing changed.

So, has anyone encountered this before. I am completely stumped. The computers are on the network, they can ping each other, ping the router, but the wireless pc's cannot access the internet, only the directly connected computer can. Signal Strength is excellent. I have encountered those delightful folks who get call you out of the blue, try to make you think that they are from MicroSoft, and tell you that there are horrible things wrong with your computer (it's been sending out signals, you see) that only a Microsoft Engineer can fix, and they will make it all better and cover you for a year for around $200. Right, sure, and I'm a Surgeon General of the United States Engineer and I will keep your nose out of your ass for a year for $200.

But--I have been using Avast as my antivirus for some time now, and it seems to be effective and user friendly. But now I had occasion to call them, and they ran some diagnostics and told me essentially the same thing as the above-mentioned scam agents. Deep down in my computer, it seems--so deep that it would make no difference if I replaced the hard drive and installed the OS (Windows 7 currently) from a new disk, I think they said even if I replaced the motherboard), there are baddies that only a Microsoft &c &c. And of course they offered to do it for around the same price.

Now I ask myself: Is there really anything that Microsoft Engineer from Avast can do that, say, Bleeping Computer cannot? Is there really a subbasement in the bleeping computer that only God or the mighty MS Engineer can get to? I'm skeptical, and I would much rather have you guys run Hijack This and ComboFix and do whatever is needed, because I know from experience how good you are. What he found was a l... Read more

A:"only microsoft engineer can fix your computer" for $$$?

I've never had occasion to contact Avast! support, so I don't know what they do or do not do.  I will say that there is nothing a Microsoft Engineer can do that taking the steps that you stated would not accomplish.  If the problem can't even be resolved by replacing the motherboard then it just isn't getting fixed.  Guess you'll just have to switch to Knoppix

What is the problem that you are having?  I'm from the nuke and reload school of thought.

Im having a crap time with a dell pc and engineer is visiting me tomorrow to install new hard drive and then hes supposed to be setting my pc up so everything is running, the hard drive isnt going to have the facory preset of having the option of returning the pc back to its factory fresh mode so im wondering after the guy installs vista and my drivers for me,if i have problems in the future will i have to load drivers every time i use the vista recovery disc im a computer novice and im sad it seems i have the more complicated way of now doing things,i should add i only received the pc last thursday and one of their tech guys over the phone asked me to re install windows as the computer wouldnt set up properly or at least it did but when i re booted i just had a blank screen on my monitor,,which they have said is a known problem with vista and i have seen it mentioned on many forums,so basically it seems to be like pulling teeth getting any joy from dell

A:When engineer re installs visitor?

Confirm with the Dell engineer if your Vista recovery disc is just for the Windows OS only or if it also has all of the needed drivers and programs that came bundled on the computer. If it was Windows only and it was my computer, I would would be insisting that Dell supply me for free with any other recovery discs needed to restore the computer to full factory fresh conditions.

I am currently having a problem with my video in Pro/Engineer Wildfire and AutoCAD 2004. In both of these drafting programs, the cursor skips when it is moving across the screen. It is not solid like it should be.

The computer is a Pentium 4 1.7 Ghz, 256 MB RAM, 36.4 SCSI hard drive, 32MB Matrox Millenium Video G450 video card and a Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 OS. There was no problem before I upgraded this computer from Windows NT 4 workstation. In NT4 the video was flawless. Certainly not in XP.

When I upgraded the computer, I installed the newest drivers. When I noticed the problem, I rolled the driver back to its previous version which did not work. I also have the video card set to full hardware acceleration. I have swapped the current video card with one just like it with no luck. I do not have a better video card to put in the machine.

Why would the video perform flawlessly in Pro/Engineer and AutoCAD 2004 while in a Windows NT 4 environment, but be skipping around in the same programs in a Windows XP Pro SP2 environment? Would a video card with more memory solve the problem? Are there any other steps I could try to troubleshoot and find a solution to this problem? Any advice I could get on this problem would be great.

Thank you.

I was awoken with a phone call from an Indian supposed "Microsoft Engineer in the Technical department" telling me that my PC was generating and sending out enormous amounts of files and that I should get onto my PC in order for them to freely provide me with tools to eradicate my supposedly bad files causing this. Going onto my PC, I was "shown" (Told how to run it) the Event Viewer (Never previously used by myself). It showed 100's of ERROR reports that gave some credence to their statements. I did not realise at the time that these were merely common errors reported by the system. I later deleted them after finding out how to. A security-conscious individual of many years I am ALWAYS sceptical of such phone calls but sadly this time I decided that I may indeed be speaking to a Microsoft engineer and must allow them access or perhaps my PC would indeed be a major problem in a week's time. According to the con man my PC would close down eventually and I would be unable to retrieve any of my files again as the PC would not boot. I felt uneasy and still being rather sleepy, I was unsure as to his chat. Taken in by his speil I suspected a scam, especially since it was an Indian speaking and experience of bad business with such warned me off, but I felt that I may indeed be causing a problem to the Internet world and foolishly decided to allow them access to my PC. Once decided, they gained access via a software programme which they downloaded (Teamvi... Read more

A:Just purchased a P53, have a few questions (Mechanical Engineer)

Fellow ME here. I work in the AEC industry and my work loads benefit the most from a few fast CPU cores. Autocad, for example, was optimal on up to 8 cores, and the user consensus was that you could get by with a decent gaming GPU (as opposed to an expensive workstation version). As I remember (and I haven't touched ANSYS and Matlab in more than 10 years), what you're using is very heavily bound by the CPU. Puget Systems has some Solidworks benchmarks that may highlight this. I got the Core i7 9850H with the Quadro T2000 and 32 GB RAM (16 GB from the factory, bought a matching stick and installed it myself afterwards) and two NVME SSDs (but my projects are on an external HDD, so these don't help as much). I'm satisfied with my decision. Back in August, when I ordered the laptop, there weren't any options for custom configurations. I would have liked the Xeon paired with the T2000, but it doesn't seem like this is an option even now. The 8 core i9 seemed very appealing, but I had to remind myself time and again that:- Turbo is no substitute for base clock, as much as the marketing hype says otherwise- I don't need as many cores (I upgraded from a 2c/4t Core i7 with a 2.8 GHz base clock and a 3.2 GHz turbo, and the actual speed in single threaded loads is not that different)- The price was better (paid for it myself), and the difference went into accessories (dock, cooling pad, RAM, additional USB hub, new carrying case). I'm not sure how much of a benefit the RTX5000... I will be starting the first year electrical engineering program at my university next semester. I don't know much about computers. I just want your opinion on what model of laptop would be able to perform good with engineer-related software. I really don't want to break the bank but any opinion would be great.

P.S. I hear that lenovo is good but I'm not sure what kind of features I should customize it with.

Thanks for your time

A:Power supply question for an engineer

Should not be a issue. Drives these days do not use a lot of power. Only real concerns for power supplies these days is graphic cards and CPU's. If you Google PSU calculator you should be able to enter in all your information and get a correct answer.

Hi I tried twice today to download and install the following updates, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86. it is a large update taking approx 30mins to download the 248MB package. Both times it got to the end of the download and the next I got was a message saying installation failed. At first I thought it was Comodo BoClean so turned it off the second time but got the same result anyway.
My PC is an AMD Athlon XP2400+, 1GB of RAM running on XP3 and updated via Automatic Updates "notify but do not install". I got a MSN email notification on IE8 RC1 and decided to check my Firewall connection to Microsoft Update, where I was told that the mentioned updates were available and decided to install them though not IE8 at this time.

For real time protection I use Comodo CIS, Comodo BoClean and SpywareBlaster. I switched off BoClean the second time and set CIS to installation mode both times. I cannot see anything else on my PC which could hinder the installation process. In my Add/Remove program list I have Microsoft .NET Framework versions 1.1,1.1 Hotfix, 2.0 Service Pack1, 3.0 Service Pack1, 3.5, Should I uninstall these before installing the latest version or should they all remain on my installed programs?. I would appreciate it if someone could offer some help here as I like to keep my PC up to date.

Hi .Well...let's start with the reason you have MS .NET installed on your system. What applications/drivers do you use which require any version? If you have no such applications...IMO it's not even necessary to install any version of MS .NET on a system. Doing so is a waste of time for those who don't have applications which demand MS .NET.http://forums.techarena.in/customize-xp/866859.htmLouis
