I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

How long ago did you buy this drive? I bought the exact same thing about three months ago and it has the most up-to-date firmware available.

How do I install the latest Samsung SSD firmware update (DXM04B0Q)? The Magician software is supposed to do it, but when I open up the download folder where the firmware update download is located, the Magician software doesn't see it. I've downloaded the firmware in many different locations, but still, the Magician software doesn't see it. Any Ideas? See snips to see firmare update download location and what Magician software sees. The firmware update (DXM04B0Q) is right below the Symantic folder.

A:How do I install the latest Samsung SSD firmware?

Couple of things you can try.
- Move the DXM04B0Q folder to your desktop. Does the Samsung Magician see it?
- If still no joy, try letting the Magician download the firmware. Verify it downloaded the correct version.

I see updates for the Thunderbolt Controller and driver have been released. I see nothing about any "fixes" in the release notes, only "enhancements". This is a little disconcerting since there have been a number of issues with the Thunderbolt controller. A manufacturer of a new Thunderbolt 3 dock has discovered problems with it. Will this controller or any related BIOS settings be fixed?

I got a SDD for my new PC and installed it as the boot drive, however I have been running some benchmarks and am confused on the results. For reference, this drive is listed to have 540 MBps Sustained Sequential Read and 410 MBps Sustained Sequential Write speed.

The performance seems a little slow on the read I am using a 6 GB/s SATA cable and have already tried using Samsung Magician to optimize the drive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A:Samsung 840 Evo 120GB SSD Underperformance

Your motherboard most likely does not have sata III ports. You are running on sata II ports most likely. The cable used won't make any difference if the port itself is not sata III. That being said, those numbers are not bad at all. Try running the test on the mechanical drive it replaced.

It's my first time building my computer, and I'm all done - I had some difficulty with making my .iso file bootable which I was helped with on here last night. Now I require drivers for my SSD which I can't find. Well.. I went on the Samsung website, searched my SSD and downloaded the 'Magician Software' which I tried to find the driver in - no luck. I also downloaded the 'Firmware' (I thought this sounded more appropriate) which gave me two .enc files. I copied both of these to my USB and tried to install Windows again. It still can't find the drivers for my SSD to install my OS.

Sounds too simple but I suppose you have tried the Device manager TN?

I saw those refs you mentioned - a bit odd if you ask me and I ma stating the bl**ding obvious but did you install that stuff from the stick to the machine?. Again simple but how about unplugging and re plugging it in or new cables?

I just installed the ssd not too long ago but, will be replacing the mothetboard & cpu soon. Can I remove the ssd and install it in my backup pc tower to format or,do what ever needs to be done to make it to where all I have to do is reinstall in case, and then install fresh copy of Win 7 pro OS? I'm not quite sure what I have to do to the ssd (which is the one I'm using right now) before installing fresh win. copy again after the new motherboard and cpu install. When I look in diskmgt. it shows 100mb at the beginning of the disk as reserved. Will Windows do this by it's self during fresh install? Or, do I have to set the disk up myself in order to have the 100mb. reserved partition again? It will be a while till my components get here and any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank You! I will provide more info if needed!

Hi Guys

I installed the updates last night and my keyboard stopped working. I then did a system restore and it worked again, so I tried running the updates again and the same thing happened. I have an old HP 9120 rf wireless keyboard which I like enough to want to try and keep. I can't find any hp drivers, but the driver that is installed now is just a standard ps/2 keyboard driver. After the updates there was no keyboard device listed.

I am sick of doing a system restore, so do I just find a new driver and install it after the updates with my mouse, or do I need to work out which update it is (or just buy a new keyboard)

I have Windows 7 64 bit.

My T25 fingerprint reader stopped working, possibly after recent Windows updates. All latest Windows 10 updates and Lenovo updates have been applied as of 12/3/2017, including Windows Fall Creators Update. Device manager shows error on Synaptics WBDI(SGX enabled) device, "This device cannot start. (Code 10)." Driver version is 5.2.3524.26. Bios version is N1QET67W 1.42. The Synaptics driver was uninstalled and re-installed, with no change in the error. There are no errors found in Lenovo Solution Center diagnostics. I only use the reader for Windows account login, not for a bios/system login. I also attempted to reset fingerprint data in the bios (just to see if that would help), but that operation seemed to fail: the message "Setup Notice: Resetting Fingerprint Data" stayed on the screen for about 10 minutes, after which I figured it was frozen and I restarted the computer. Any help would be appricated. I'd rather fix this myself if it's a software issue, as opposed to sending the T25 in for warranty service!

A:T25 fingerprint reader driver problem after latest updates

[Update: this solution worked only temporarily - see below] I solved this, but the solution wasn't obvious, so I will post it here. It was a driver issue, which occurred during the normal course of applying automatic updates from Windows and/or Lenovo. The correct driver update was installed, but something went wrong in the process. Details are beyond me, but here's the fix: Go to T470 Driver Support Link and download the latest fingerprint reader driver (currently version 5.2.3524.26). This is an executable file. Run the executable, which extracts the driver files. Remember the folder location. You can go ahead and complete the driver installation process through the executable, but it won't fix the problem (in my case). In device manager, right click the Synaptics WBDI(SGX enabled) driver, which in my case was showing Error Code 10, and select update driver. In the update driver menu, select "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer", then "Have Disk", then "Browse". Navigate to the folder noted above, which in my case was C:\DRIVERS\WIN\FPR\WBF_Drivers, and select the file "synaWudfBioUsbLenovoMiSSGXProd.inf". Complete the install process, then restart the computer. The driver error goes away, and the fingerprint reader now works. Any other method of installing the driver, including running the driver update program from Lenovo, results in a driver error. If I were to guess... Read more

Hello There - Ever since I upgraded to Win 10 the day it was released The HP driver download page, with the exception of the Bios ( Oct. 6, 2016 ), refuses to update their drivers. All of the drivers offered are anywhere from 15 to 19 months old, some of them were released only a couple weeks after win 10, which is ridiculas. Also the site seems to be missing several of the driver catagories period. The HPSA site is rather worthless also, since it has never updated a thing, including itself. Using the device manager is all right for doing a quick update here and there on occasion, but there are tons of related drivers and it becomes a drawn-out royal pain to go through all of them. As well as constantly going to vendor sites checking for newer updates. I have reset my PC to factory settings numerous times and still cant get any of the HP sites to cooperate at all. Please advise what I may be doing wrong or how I can find an up to date HP update page, or how I can force them to update themselves. I'll appreciate any and all suggestions - Thank You - GoldenG8 -

Seeing a local store is selling an 840 Evo for the price of SSDNow v300s and such inferior drives, I was wondering if it might be worth getting.
It seems pretty clear to me that the new Samsung is considerably faster than my old Force 3 but I'm wondering if the SATA controller of my Sabertooth X58 will be too big a bottleneck for the speed to really matter... I can't find very exact info on this kind of a matter :/

E: The drive would be for my OS, along with several games (Guild Wars 2, varying other such loading intensive ones) like my Force 3 has been. Force 3 would then have some secondary read-intensive files/programs/whatnot on it, since I'm already juggling files at 25ish G free of the 120 so I kind of need some more space.

A:Upgrading a Corsair Force 3 120GB to a Samsung 840 Evo 120 GB worth it on x58 system?

The Sabertooth X58 has SATA 6Gb/s so no real bottleneck there. Assuming you are using the correct SATA 6Gb/s ports and not the SATA 3Gb/s ports.

The performance of both drives seem to be pretty close unless you are looking at different numbers.

Samsung 840 EVO:
Read/Write: 540/520MB/s
4K IOPS: 94,000

Corsair Force 3:

I have Acer Aspire 5750G. My current BIOS version is 1.07. The latest version is 1.12.

There are a few versions in between. Should I do incremental updates and reach 1.12 or should I just go direct to 1.12?

Many Thanks!

A:BIOS - Incremental updates to latest vrsn or direct update to latest?

Bios updates are cumulative, so you only need the latest.

You also don't need to update the bios unless there is a fix in it/them that fixes an issue you may be having. For the most part updating the bios is as easy as updating a driver, only if a bios update goes wrong you can't roll back to the old and you basically end up with a nice paperweight.

Hello, we are trying to update Thunderbolt firmware on one of my colleague's Lenovo P50 since it does not recognise Akitio external PCIe box (his NVM version is 16). We updated all the drivers including BIOS. We updated the Thunderbolt Software. But we cannot update the Thunderbolt firmware. We downloaded this: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/be/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-laptops/thinkpad-... namely: n1etf08w.exe We tried to install it as administrator, but it gives an error, something along the lines of: "PM driver is old, please update the PM driver first.". We updated the Power Management driver: https://support.lenovo.com/be/en/downloads/ds032258 And we can see in device manager that it is currently the latest version. But Thunderbolt firmware still does not install giving the same error saying that PM driver is old. Is PM driver the Power Management driver or something else? What might be the problem?

I have the 128 GB Samsung MMCRE28G8MXP that came with my T410S.  CystalDiskInfo (and googling) tells me that TRIM has not been implemented on the drive's firmware.  I can see that CrystalDiskinfo correctly identifies TRIM on my Crucial and my intel SSD's. Is there any information out from Lenovo or Samsung that TRIM will be implemented on this drive?  Or maybe a tool to clean up the pages on disk?

A:TRIM firmware for the 128 GB Samsung SSD??

I'm in precisely the same boat with my X301, with the exact same drive. My machine was manufactured 2010/03/25. Googling around myself, I found the following facts:Samsung has released a firmware update giving TRIM support for their retail drives, but OEMs like Lenovo must issue their own. I don't know if anyone's tried applying the Samsung firmware to their Lenovo drive; there is a risk of turning the drive into a paperweight, if it's recognized at all. There is a rumor that Lenovo will release firmware giving TRIM support sometime soon. If a drive doesn't have TRIM support, to wipe it one must use the secure erase facility, which wipes the whole drive. On Linux, this can be done from a rescue CD withhdparm --security-erase [password] [device]Obviously this is rather inconvenient, as it requires a complete backup + restore. Samsung's firmware release was January, so you have to wonder what the holdup is for Lenovo ...

A few months back, I purchased this from amazon.com:
Western Digital SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI Express (PCIe) Card

Brand Name: Western Digital

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The original installation went just fine, but I never did test to see if transfer speeds were any faster. The instructions specifically mention to install the software first, then the hardware. Recently, I did a clean reinstall of Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). I never did remove the card. I tried running the software with the hardware already installed. Well, the drives are recognized and all, but the transfer rate between the two drives (one is Seagate 3.0 and one is WD 3.0) is only around 50 MB/sec...USB 2.0 speed, right?
So, from what I've been able to find over the past couple of hours is that I can't contact WD about the card. They know nothing, and the product can't be found on their website. I've been running into an issue where the firmware update for Samsung SSDs in m900z model all-in-ones (specifically for firmware revision 'MAT05L0Q') fails out with error '0xffffffff'. I initially thought that this was due to a buggy update that we're pushing out on our end, but the same error message is displayed when pulling down the update from Lenovo's servers and attempting to install it manually, both through use of the firmware update utility and when attempting to launch the driver installation on its own. I attached a screenshot for context.  I came across a similar forum post from a while back that was for a Lenovo laptop, and noted that Lenovo ended up releasing a revised firmware update to resolve the issue. -Is anyone else having this issue on an m900z with this specific firmware version? -If this is widespread, is Lenovo aware of this being an issue, and is there a plan to release a working firmware update at some point in the near future?

It probably can't read re-writable media so try using DVD-R or DVD+R

You can also update it directly via the internet by connecting it to your router and updating in real-time from the Samsung website. The BD-UP5000 has an ethernet port on it for this purpose.

So I installed my new SSD, set up all my programs and files, and was having some trouble with discovering an ACHI drivers (which apparently cannot be achieved on my dell latitude model IDE ATA/ATAPI driver missing?)

Anyway after installing the Samsung Magician software to help optimize the SSD, it said that a firmware update was available, so upon updating I was rewarded with a BSOD after restarting. I became angry and did a system restore with my image disk and started over. This time in the samsung magician it said the firmware was already up to date so I didn;t think anything of it until today another BSOD. If I have to do another reinstall I will take my own life, so I hope someone can help me here.

Do you use the DW1520 Wireless-N WLAN Half-mini card?
If so then it looks like the driver for it is the problem.

Do you have a spare HDD that you can use because I think the driver for it is incompatible with SSDs. I will need to double check.

friends I'm installing a fresh samsung 840 120gb. i thought i could put the ssd on sata 1 [not zero] and get firmware via magician on my windows 8 lab mule. no dice. apparently magician ONLY wants to see the ssd on sata zero. it can pull up the drive, but none of the controls work.
soooo... I'm thinking I'm going to have to go with the drive 'as is' to install 7 on a notebook, then as first order of business go pickup the firmware update and execute it.

will this result in sub-par arrangement? best I can tell the fw update is non-destructive.
is there another way?

A:samsung ssd: will firmware update harm anything? magician no use.

friends i have a new samsung 840 to replace a failing drive in a hp notebook.
i wanted to update the samsung firmware first, then do the install of windows 7 x64 but using the samsung so-called Magician, trying the drive on sata 1 [instead of 0] it still cannot properly register the drive. all I get is the SMART info - everything else is neutered. illogical... how does samsung want to update firmware? AFTER the os is installed?
a little guidance would sure be appreciated.

A:Samsung Kies error on firmware upgrading

You might try removing and reinstalling Kies. Also try the older version, sometimes newer is not better.
Perhaps there is a Samsung forum where this issue is addressed too.

Hi. I ran the Samsung 840 EVO Firmware update that was provided because of the degrading problem said to be with the product.

It went all the way through and said complete. There were no problems or interruptions there. I closed the application and rebooted my machine.

The computer will get to the windows screen but right when it is supposed to go to the login it goes black and the monitors stop detecting a signal. It just sits at a black screen.

The scary thing is that when i try to run a recovery all executables associated with a given recovery error out. I.E. StartRep.exe fails to run. Trying to load previous working fails to run to. They get memory exception type errors!

I put in the windows 7 disc and have had it come up with "hit key to boot from cd or dvd". all repair attempts are the same as above. They fail the same way.

The only thing I have not figured out is how to get the machine to load into safe mode. i have been hitting F8 and doing what I can but I get no such options. My options are only the repair dialogs or boot normally. I do not understand why this machine has never given me a choice to boot to safe mode. How can I get that to work?

Please help! Is there anything I can do? I can't find any samsung forums or info.

What degrading problem ? Samsungs are the best IMO, what did you think upgrading the firmware would help ? Or what did Samsung say it was for ?

How old is the drive, how often is it used ?

Current Lenovo firmware for the EM7455 is, however Sierra Wireless has a newer version, listed here: https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airprime/minicard/74xx/airprime-em_mc74xx-approved-fw-pa... After flashing with the newer version and rebooting, the card reverts back to Has anyone else experience this? Is this something the carrier would dictate and enforce? Any help would be appreciated. Reason for upgrading is, when traveling internationally the unit has spotty connectivity and not very reliable. Hoping firmware upgrade would be a step in the right direction to resolving it.

After installing the latest firmware update (V.4.20/5.04/100.3) touch screen is dead. I looked at the device manager and no indication of error anywhere. Can't find device that would require an update - nothing like 'other device', nor under Human Interface Devices.  Noted that during the update it reported several times 'pen not found'.  How to enable touch screen again that worked perfectly fine until this update was installed?

I did some updates on my Yoga and now my touchscreen no longer works. I have gone to the device manager and updated and checked on it. No luck. My pen works, but the finger touch does not. Nothing else seems to have happened to my computer past the updates. It seems like others seem to have this problem since updating their computers. My computer is no longer under warranty, and since I bought this thing for its touchscreen, I am a little choked that it has gone kaput. Would it have been the update that caused it, or would it have been just a case of it went kaputsky at the same time and it is a mere coincidence? Either way, I am really upset that this machine is broken so soon. Any idea if there is going to be an update to fix this or if it is now just blown?

I turned on my computer and a message popped up to update my 3 month old Samsung firmware.
I used Magician 4.5, pushed the button, and it said "failed to update drive with new firmware".
Oh? When I rebooted later my OS would not boot. I went into the bios and it ID'd the drive as Samsung 3.
Now I can't boot the drive at all. I burned the ISO of the firmware update but it can NOT find the drive in DOS. If I boot with another drive and the ruined drive together, both Samsung 840 Pro and Samsung 850 Pro, it jams the boot until I remove the damaged drive. Anybody have any knowledge or any ideas?

The MP3 player contends that it's memory is full, yet it has nothing in its navigational tree. The mp3 device has corrupted before; however, last time it simply froze on one track rendering it impossible to change tracks without the device shutting down. In this instance there are no tracks to attempt to switch to, the only thing that works is the radio.

My solution was simple, reinstall the firmware implementing YP-MT6 updater--just like last time I had an issue. Sadly, the firmware install freezes well under half way through when it says "locking drive[ers?]" it was one of the two.

Anyway to beet this problem? 'Cause I'm at a loss. Not a happy costumer as far as this little samsung is concerned--i figured their phones were great so their other stuff should be too! Ha.

links to costumer service would be great.

I want to upgrade the firmware of my new Samsung DVD writer (from Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology) to the latest version.
DVD writer Model:
For some reason it will not burn DVD ?RW disks.

So I downloaded the latest appropriate firmware file from cdrinfo.com
Namely SH-S223C_SB04.exe which I ran under win7 (64) bit OS

This executable program in turn started up ?Tsdnwin.exe? installation program which then crashes (freezes) the system.
I had to use the Windows ?Task Manager? to End the Task.

Can this be a compatibility problem for win7 64 bit OS?
Or is my Win7 OS somehow corrupted?

Next I installed and tried ODD FW Liveupdate program and it too fails with an error message :

?that due to a system problem it failed to operate a program by
automatically connecting to it.?

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem here?

A:Failure of Firmware Upgrade of Samsung DVD Writer using Win 7 (64bit)

According to this page, you shouldn't need to worry about drivers or firmware. What I would suggest is completely uninstalling the driver from your Device Manager. Restart your computer. Windows 7 should pick up and install the burner fine.

Don't download driver and firmware files from anywhere but the manufacturers website, problems like this happen way more often when you do that
