Problems after installing windows 7 Home basic 64x

Q: Problems after installing windows 7 Home basic 64x

So my computer was running on a broken version of windows, and I decided to buy a new disk and install. After installing quite smoothly, I found out that my laptop couldn't find any wireless network at all, even though my home is bathed in Wi-Fi networks. I tried to connect to the internet via wire, but it still couldn't connect. Help?

I'm using MSI GE60
Cpu: Intel core i74700mq
Gpu: NVIDIA geforce gt 750M

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Anytime you install or reinstall Windows you will also have to install drivers.
Go to the MSI website for most of your drivers here: http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GE60_0NC.html#down-driver

While you can use the video drivers you find there, for the most recent video drivers go to the Nvidia website.

Welcome to Seven Forums ann16. It should install. Try downloading the installer again. Download to your desktop, and right click the installer and choose Run as administrator. If you are trying to install from a non administrator account, that would also be an issue. A Guy

Hi,
I have been having a lot of problems with my computer with Windows Vista Home Basic. First, I had a virus called Vista Security 2012. I had this all cleaned up by microsft. Next, after Microsoft cleaned out the virus the computer has sat at the Dell startup screen for 4-5 minutes now it does this everytime it boots up. Next, after log in and everything all the icons are all big and some icons even move around after boot up. Last, right after log in I get a Windows Defender error the error is: Application failed to initalize: 0x80070006. The handle is invalid. This is a family members computer. They said they shut down sometimes by holding down the power button. I think that is a possible part of the problem. I now have the computer at my home.

Please help,
Thanks

I have an interesting challenge with Remote Desktop.

I am connecting via a VPN (using Shrewsoft) to a Windows XP SP3 computer in the UK. The tunnel is created successfully and when I connect using my own personal laptop (Lenovo) I am able to connect and login. My Lenovo is running Windows 7 Professional SP1.

The person I am configuring this connection for is using a Samsung RV511 running Windows 7 Home Basic. Once again the VPN connection is establsihed succesfully using Shrewsoft, however when connecting using Remote Desktop, the connection shows me the remote screen, with the ip address showing at the top, however the login dialogue box does not show. The background colour of the remote screen shows, just no login credentials box.

I have optimised the MTU settings on the computer involved, turned off bitmap caching on the Remote Desktop Connection settings, disabled all firewalls, all anti virus software, all to no avail. The computer is connecting to a DSL router via a wireless connection.

Any suggestions (aside from installing Team Viewer) would help. Thanks

Imagine yourself on a computer, listening to music. You are almost done with a song until it just stops in 20 seconds before it's done playing. Think you've had this problem well, don't think so because I have. Here's some advice for you:

1. Update your Realtek HD Audio Manager
2. Check your Device Manager
3. Do a "Disk Defragment"
4. Have a clean-up for your hard drive
5. Sometimes overheating may cause bad audio quality

This is all I can say right now. I hope you enjoy this...

I have a computer that is using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit version.

I would like to install Office 97 on this machine, but I keep getting the message that vbe.dll cannot install itself in the registry.

Does any one know if there is a way to work around this issue and install Office 97 on a Vista computer?

Thanks.

Hi,
I am trying to install windows XP home on a newly formatted hard drive (s) and I keep receiving error message eg " the file was not copied correctly" "the file setup placed on your HD is not a valid windows xp image" the options given are retry or esc to skip; retry doesn't work and the numerous times I have tried skip has resulted in the system going to a system close down error screen. The HD's I have used have both been virus checked.

At first I thought it may be my XP CD which is a couple of years old, I've purchased a new XP CD with SP2 but still have the same problem. I have tried a different HD but still have the same problem, I have un-enabled caching n BIOS!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi
Please advice on the performance comparison between
- Windows 7 Home Basic versus
- Windows 7 Home Premium
assuming if both uses the same 8GB RAM.

Just a hearsay...that Windows 7 Home Basic is lagging behind Windows 7 Home Premium in terms of performance assuming if both uses the same 8GB RAM. Please confirm whether this is true or not.

By the way, how to activate the Windows Aero in Windows 7 Basic???

A:Performance comparison btw. Windows 7 Home Basic versus Home Premium

Hello cheesum and welcome to Seven Forums.

Last question first. This tutorial may help enable Aero. Please note that there is no way to enable transparency on Windows Home Basic.

Aero - Enable in Unsupported Editions of Windows 7

As far as performance, I have not been able to find any specific "speed" tests to say one way or the other.

Difference Between Windows 7 Home Basic and Home Premium | Difference Between | Windows 7 Home Basic vs Home Premium

But if Basic and Home Premium are run on two identical machines (not just identical RAM, but also identical hard drive/hard drive speed, identical CPU, identical programs and apps installed, etc) I would give a very slight performance advantage to Basic simply because it doesn't have the same amount of features that Home Premium has. Fewer features to load usually equals faster performance. But I think any performance advantage would be so slight it wouldn't make any appreciable difference.

I did find some comments comparing Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional.

performance difference 7 home premium vs. 7 professional? - Microsoft Community

Of course, others may completely disagree with my thoughts and that's cool. Healthy discussion and debate is welcomed.

I have recently purchased a new Acer Aspire 5535 laptop. It has Windows Vista Home Premium (WVHP) installed.

The computer came with a number of programs that I am not interested in having on my system. In addition, I was not provided a restore disc. I do own a copy of Windows Vista Home Basic (WVHB).

I would like to keep WVHP as I appear to be eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7 . . . but I would like to reinstall to get rid of all these worthless programs. Can I use a WVHB disc with my new WVHP product key?

Could I install WVHB with the WVHB product key, then use the WVHP key supplied by Acer to upgrade?

Thanks for your time in answering my question. I hope it isn't unclear.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I believe that if you install with the Basic disc the process will offer you a choice
of versions. Choose Home Premium and complete the install. Activate with your

I just got a new computer from cyberpowerpc and had vista pre installed on it. I've had it for less than a week. I tried to activate it with the product key they gave me but it said invalid. So I googled it and came to some forum or something. Some guy laid out instructions on how to "fix it" and it just made the situation a whole lot worse. It wants me to use my cd to activate it, but the whole process is just reinstalling it i think, and I cant even do that. I get up to the select the driver to be installed screen, and it shows nothing, so I can't go on.

Whats drivers is it looking for, why do i have this key problem, and how am I supposed to fix this

A:Vista 64 Home basic Key/Re-installation problems

If it is a new system and it wasn't activated yet, I would call up the place you got it from and tell them your problem. You shouldn't have a problem like this on a new system if you just got it. They may have gotten some cds and keys mixed up or something, I'm really not sure, but I would deffiently call them up first.

Hi there, this is my first post, hoping to get some help on this issue.

My boss and I are trying to configure a LAN connection in the office, I have a Vista Basic OS, and we also have 2 computers with Vista Home Premium and XP Pro. I've tried to follow several tutorials on the net with no success, and the main problem is that my computer (the one with Vista Home Basic) can connect to the other Vista Home Premium just fine, but they can't connect to mine.

I configured the computers as follows:

-Changed the PC Name and work group to WORKGROUP

-On Network and Sharing Center, I set the network to Private, enabled Network Discovery, File sharing, printer sharing and disabled the use of password.

-Created a folder, and shared with everyone on this group

When trying to connect to other computers from my computer, it works fine, but the other computers, when trying to connect to my computer have this error: Error Code: 0x80070035 - The network path was not found

Is there a problem with Vista Home Basic than can't allow other computers to connect to it? Or is there another configuration i'm missing on the first place?

I would very much appreciate your help on this issue. Thanks

Hi,

I'm running Vista Home Basic on a brand new Acer Aspire PC. Recently, a friend sent me a Microsoft Office 2007 PowerPoint presentation, and for some weird reason, I can't open and run it with my Office '97 PowerPoint software. (The presentation was saved in '97 through 2003 format to mesh with my older PowerPoint software.)

I'm wondering if PowerPoint '97 isn't compatible with Vista. That would be rather strange, though, because all of my other Office '97 components run perfectly fine in the Vista environment.

Any assistance/advice you folks could share would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there!

I'm attempting to fix Grandma's machine - we aren't sure what has happened but the only password it has ever had for her user no longer works.  In addition, when booting, we cannot get any other option for the User; previously there was a Guest Account, for instance.  Of course, we do not have a password reset disc.  I've been into the Setup (F2) and attempted to set the Supervisory and User passwords there, but that just added another layer of security - it hasn't resolved our problem.  Short of completely re-installing the operating system and drivers (we have the original system discs) is there ANYTHING we can do to override or reset the password?

Thanks,
Korrigen

A:Vista Home Basic SP2 - Password problems

You can activate the hidden Administrator Account as shown here and work with that. Using the Administrator Account you can reset your Grandmothers password. I would not reset the password using the software I linked to, only enable the hidden Administrator account. I would clear the Supervisory and User Passwords in BIOS.

I have had my new inspiron for two months and am at my wits end. It crashed after two weeks and I had to do a complete clean install. I have vista home basic sp1, and 3gig ram. I have IE 8 installed too. When I'm online, my cursor freezes sometimes and the only solution is to close the window. Other times, when I'm typing, all the text will be highlighted in blue, and I have to click and click all over the place to try to get back to the regular display. Other times, the cursor won't go where I want at the end of a line. I have to go up a line, then use the arrows to get down to the spot where I want to resume typing.

Everything is inconsistent, and so frustrating that I wish that I'd never gone to a new laptop. I need help to track down what is causing these problems. I have a few more problems with "administrator privileges" which i apparently don't have even tho I'm the only person on this laptop. Please give me some hints to correct these constant irritations.

Hello,

I'm to the point where i'm going to delete the programs and just reinstall them. But unfortunately I am no "Administrator" even tho in my user accounts i am. Even when it comes to deleting files that i've instead recently it won't let me delete. I've turned off User Account Control after talking to many technical support helpers.

If someone could give me some hints as to how to completely shut off administrator so i can completely edit and delete things at my free will, that would be wonderful.

Hello everyone,

So like in XP i just went to the Program Files and deleted the program. Unfortunately I should have uninstalled the program through control panel.

The problem I am having now, is that i cannot install or uninstall Microsoft Office now. When I insert the cd it gives me a setup error, and the same message when i try to uninstall it. I've tried many different register cleaners, and different forms of UAC. I'm currently the admin on my computer ( even though that doesn't mean jack squat for Vista).

Is there anyway i can fix this problem? if so please help me!

2. Type in "UAC" in the search box (without the speech marks).
3. Click the link "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off".
4. On the next screen you should uncheck the box for “Use User Account Control (UAC)”, and then click on the OK button.

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome! Before formatting the C drive, did you have a Windows OEM version - Windows preinstalled by HP with your computer. When you bought the computer initially, did it have Win 7 preinstalled OR you installed WIndows later ? If you have a product key, you can try to download WIndows 7 installational ISO image from Microsoft >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7 Then, burn the image to a DVD and use to install Win 7.Post successful WIn 7 installation, you can download and use HP Supprot Assistant to get the latest updates from HP such as drivers updates.  Let me know if this works for you.

I have had this HP G62 laptop for almost four years. It has always had Windows 7 Home Basic on it. I had to format my hard drive a few weeks ago due to viruses corrupting my graphics (OpenGL), so I did this and reinstalled Windows 7 Home Basic.

Before I formatted my hard drive, I used a program to obtain my Product Key for Microsoft Office and I also made a note of the Windows Product Key which was different to the one on the Certificate Of Authenticity on the bottom of the laptop. I downloaded an ISO of Windows 7 (which apparently is legal) and put it onto a flash drive and used it to reinstall Windows. I don't remember entering the Product Key when installing, so cannot confirm this.

I received a message saying that the Windows is not genuine and I must activate it. I tried to do that using the Product Key on the COA and it says that the product key will not work with this edition of Windows. The sticker on the bottom of my laptop says it is for Windows 7 Home Premium, but my laptop came to me with Home Basic.

I also tried the Product Key that I obtained from the program before formatting and this key gives me a message saying "The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer BIOS is missing a required license." (Error Code 0xC004F063)

Please could you assist me, here is the MGADiag report.

From the looks of it you did a repair/reinstall using a Retail disk.

If the Key on your machine is for Windows 7 Home Premium - then that is what the machine is licensed for (and why anyone would wish to downgrade it to Home Basic is rather beyond me) - and you need to upgrade to the Home Premium install to get the Key to work. From what I can see of the Spec for the machine, the default is Home Premium.

From where did you purchase this?

Downloading installation discs can be risky . . there are no legal sites to do so, and the illegal ones will often include things you do not want.

You can request a replacement disc here:

just want to ask, just got new laptop from my office and apparently the laptop is pre-installed with windows 7 home basic. When i checked it seems that on windows 7 home basic, personalization isn't applicable. So is there any way to make "it" happen ? And i don't want to upgrade to another windows 7 version coz it will cost me sum money.

Help needed because i just want to change the theme of my windows 7 home basic.

Thanks in advance.

Will it boot?
What is the error that you are receiving?
Disable defragging before it runs..possibly making this more difficult

Hi guys,

I am planning to build a Download rig using some old parts.

Config:

Processor: Intel Celeron 1.1Ghz Socket 370 SL5ZE
Motherboard: 810E unbranded mobo
Memory: 2x256MB SD RAM
Graphics Card: nVidia FX5200 128MB PCI
HDD: 40GB HDD or CF to IDE SSD & 500GB for Storage
OS: Windows 7 Home Basic x86

My queries are:

How much memory does Windows 7 Home Basic use & how much will I have free for other apps?

I have also tried Windows Thin PC on my Netbook.
When will ThinPC be released?

Thanks & regards,
Hariharan

A:Windows 7 Home Basic Questions

Windows 7 Home Basic uses about 300MB of RAM. There is currently no release date for Windows Thin PC.

hi all,
i want to personalize my desktop and do change on that theme to another ,,
how i can change themes ??? (windows home not ultimate)

A:problem with windows home basic , plz help

Well, some features of Windows 7 are disabled in the Home Basic edition, but to change themes (if you can) you right click on the desktop and from the menu that appears you select Personalize. From there select the theme you want.

I need download the windows 7 home basic 64 bits but I searched and I don't find any link with the download of the windows 7 home basic trial

A:Trial windows 7 home basic

Hi,

I would like to tell you that there is no Windows 7 Home Basic trial version now, but you can still download the Windows 7 Enterprise 90-day Trial instead.

In addition, if you have already buy Home Basic from Microsoft Online store, you can contact Microsoft Online store customer service.

Hope this helps.

Hello. I've lost original Windows 7 image which was installed when i bought a pc. And now i can not recover Windows 7. I have a product key on my system block. So i want you to help me to download the original image of windows 7 and recover it with my product key.

A:Windows 7 Home Basic RECOVER

ArturSibgatulli Sorry, but HP does not provide downloads for their recovery media; instead, you have to order it from HP. In addition, HP no longer stocks recovery media for the older Win7 PCs. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update".  If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entty and click on Order Media for details.Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while! If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/  and http://www.restoredisks.com/ Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.-----------------------------------------------... Over thanksgiving, i was called in to help my aunt's Thinkpad connect to the printer. She mentioned that she'd like windows 7 so i helped her get Windows Ultimate Steal using her .edu email address. It downloaded well, and we opened up the setup file. I was just leaving, so i told her to click upgrade when the prompt came. i received a call saying a dialog box popped up saying it could not upgrade from Vista Home basic, which she was apparantly running. Does anyone know of a solution or workaround to let her upgrade to Windows 7?

A:Windows Vista Home Basic

Which version of Win7 did she buy?

According to the upgrade matrix:

http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/windows_7_upgrade_chart.png

Vista Home Basic can be upgraded-in-place to Win7 Home Premium or Ultimate.

That only applies within the same addressing type: 32 bit can only be upgraded-in-place to 32 bit, 64 to 64.

An upgrade license can be used in other ways, but only with a custom (clean) install.

Hi,

I have recently bought LENOVO Z560 with pre-installed 32-bit Windows 7 Home Basic.

I want to know:
1) How can I upgrade to 64 bit Home Basic
2) How can I know/ get the PRODUCT KEY of my pre-installed 32 bit Home Basic
3) Do I need to pay extra amount if I upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit (as, I have heard that if I purchase, I will get 32 and 64 bit OS in a single pack only)
4) Will my existing set of drivers work fine with 64 bit Home Basic. If not, from where can I get the drivers

Thanks In Advance.

Regards,
Ajoy

Hi everyone.

I'm thinking of buying a cheap Windows 7 OS and that is Home Basic and I'm thinking that if I will regret buying only a Home Basic Windows 7?

For my use of my PC I'm just a moderate gamer and sometime edit pictures and videos. And I'm thinking that if I will miss something using only a HomeBasic.

It tells in the Product that it is and 32bit OEM. I heard that you can make it to 64bit.
If I will upgrade my 32bit to 64bit can I just download it in the internet or I will still need to buy it?

A:Windows 7 Home Basic is good enough?

Windows Home Premium is your first level of the Windows family. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/compare

Below Home Premuim is only preinstall in factory Home Starter and Home Basic. These version arent very common because its a strip version of Windows 7 Home Preemuim. I think that you cant buy Home Basic or Starter at retail shops they only sell the Home Premium
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions#Main_editions

I am suggesting Home Premium because its commonly for Home User or Professional is Business environment

32 bit is for 86 bit processors
64 bit is for 64 bit processors
OEM disc tie to your motherboard to that disc. Retail disc dont have that limitation

Depending on your hardware you can buy 32 or 64 bit version of Windows

I think if you buy retail has both versions 32,64 while OEM has to specified 32 or 64 versions

You need to change the Product Key to the oneon the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the batterycompartment), using the Change ProductKey link at the bottom of the System properties page.

You may need toactivate by phone.
