I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi! I have a HP Pavillion N047TX. It has a 2GB Graphics card. The sticker on the laptop shows that it is a Radeon Graphics but I can see it nowhere in my device manager. I tried downloading AMD Auto Detect but it also says that there is no driver detected. Somebody please help regarding how to enable the graphics driver for using it. I even tried re installing windows but in vain. I want it to be my primary driver. The only thing I can see in device manager under Display Adapters is Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. Please help

Hi everybody.

I just bought myself a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 yesterday. After installing the card and the required drivers everything works like a charm. However, every time I start up my PC I get a message saying that a new device has been found on my system. On checking Device Manager I found an "Unknown device" entry under "Other devices".

I'm attaching a screenshot of Device Manager.

Are there any drivers I'm missing? It only happened after removing my old card (after uninstalling all its drivers) and installing the Radeon.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Unknown Device In Device Manager After Installing Radeon HD 4890

I have a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 (I also have a Gigabyte 4890 and XFX 4890 in two other PCs). I think you need to install the latest ATI Catalyst Suite. You may have installed the driver only package. Anyway, I think it has to do with the HDMI capabilities of the card. High def sound is built into the card (the HD part of the card name) and the HD sound driver is part of the Catalyst Suite. When you use an HDMI cable to an appropriate display, HD sound is also transmitted through the same cable from the Radeon graphics card.

Of course, be sure to install .NET Framework 2.0 as it is required before you can install the full Catalyst Suite. The HD sound driver won't install without it. At least I had trouble before I installed .NET 3.5. I went to Windows Update and installed .NET Framework 3.5. 2.0 is included in that update and 2.0 wasn't available separately.

Hello there. I have an HP dv9700 notebook, which about an year ago began having serious screen problems. It went black and nothing made it come back, even though Windows still booted (sounds came up and everything).

After almost an year repairing, and 3 Intel motherboards later, the technician found out the problem was on the dedicated graphics card memory, and put an AMD motherboard on my notebook which didn't have dedicated graphics memory anymore.

So now my notebook is recognized by HP automatic product detection as a dv9010us one. Plus, my graphics card is now shown as a GeForce Go 6150 (I bought it as a GeForce 6800 GS).

Since then the PC has been working flawlessly, except for now. Last night I was using the notebook, turned it off and went to sleep. Now I turned it on once again it simply can't detect the wireless device. It's like it doesn't exists!

I never changed the position of the notebook or anything to say the card moved or something internally. I check the Device Manager and there's no sign of the 802.11 adapter. It only shows the local ethernet adapter (wired connection working flawlessly as I'm writing right now from it) and bluetooth adapter. And yes, the light on the wireless switch on my notebook is blue (which means turned on). I tried putting it to off (orange) and then on again (blue), but it doesn't works. All that happens is that windows "disconnected" sound (like when you remove an USB device) when I turn it off.

Hi All, i recently had to do a format and clean install. i have been having countless problems with graphics card (AMD R5 M255) to the point where i have probably reinstalled the drivers a million times. Today however the GPU no longer shows up in the device manager, i have tried installing the drivers but the crimson software no longer picks up the graphics card so it doesnt install the drivers. I cleaned the drivers off the pc with the AMD driver cleanup utility as well as DDU. i also had a technician out yesterday and they replaced the entire system board on the laptop, so everything is brand new. the GPU was being picked up prior to my idiotic cleaning of the drivers with DDU.

My girlfriend recently found out that her laptop was supposed to be a touchscreen device, but has not been able to use the functionality. I went thru a few troubleshooting steps to try and potentially fix the problem but the touchscreen doesn't even show up on the Device Manager under HID. I have been trying to find some potential drivers for the touchscreen for this device but I have not had any luck. Are there any drivers? Could the screen have been replaced with a non touch one and windows is recognizing it and doesn't even allow for the drivers to be used? TIA

I just recently upgraded from Windows 7 64-bit to Windows 8 64-bit, and everything is running smoothly, except my AMD Radeon HD 6700M graphics card is having some trouble. It shows up in the device manager, but has an exclamation point by it. Whenever I run games, it always uses the Intel HD graphics. I have Catalyst Control Centre, but there are no options for my graphics card. I changed the graphics dual option to "Fixed" in BIOS. I've tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, and still no luck. The latest CCC I got was from the HP Rep. I chatted with. It didn't show an exclamation point before I rebooted so I assumed everything was fixed. Whenever I try downloading from the AMD website, I get incompatible software even though I am in the right category, so the sticky threads above I've had no luck with yet. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!

Two of the four USB ports in my motherboard were not working properly. After plugging in any USB device it would recognize something was there, try to find a driver for it, but fail at doing so. These are plug and play devices I had never had problems with before. The device manager said the SM bus was not installed properly. I reinstalled the chipset driver and that fixed one of the USB ports; however, one is still not working. When I plug in any USB Device there is no audible ding, no "this device is not recognized" pop-up, and it isn't even showing up as 'unknown device' in the Device Manager. I'm not sure what could be wrong.

USB devices attempted:

Needless to say from the thread title, I only have one mouse and one keyboard plugged-in. Everything works correctly, but was just curious if there's any particular reason why this is happening.

A:Why does device manager showing duplicates?

I believe what you are showing us is the Devices & Printers window. It would be interesting to see if the devices show twice in the Device Manager (Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Device Manager)

I've seen this happen when 2 different drivers are installed for the same device: one is a generic Windows driver that gets installed when Windows discovers new hardware and installs the driver for it, and a second when the user installs the manufacturer's driver afterward. This should not happen, but sometimes it does. I suspect poorly written driver software.

Since this is a mouse and keyboard you could experiment with removing one of each. You will not be offered the option to remove a working mouse or keyboard in Devices and Printers, but the doppelganger may show the Remove Device option.

If that is not an option then let us know what you find in the Device Manager. Particularly under Properties > Driver that might give a clue.

I'm not sure if this issue has been covered in here yet, sorry if it has, I tried searching for it but the search wasn't working so here goes...

I installed windows 7 32 bit and it is not recognizing my dvd drive. It is not showing up in the device manager or anything, but does show up in the bios. I have tried going into the registry and deleting the upper and lower filters, disabling driver signature enforcement upon startup, and entering "bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS" in command prompt, but nothing worked.

I ended up trying to boot from cdrom on startup and was able to to do that. I opened the drive, took out the windows 7 disc, restarted the computer, and windows finally detected my dvd drive and everything was fine. I eventually restarted the computer and now it is not detecting the drive again. Has anyone else run in to this or know what I can do to fix it? Thanks.

Hi, I have a client who wants me to network her computers. One computer is 98 the other computer XP. The XP computer's Windows file is titled WINNT which I assume has some of the Windows Networking OS properties (YIKES!)

Anyway, I added netbui files and then went to device manager to add them. When I tried to add the protocol, netbui was not one of the options. I know that you don't have to have them with XP but I have found when networking XP with 98 it is much easier.

I did double check to make sure that I had put them in the proper folders. Any suggestions?

A:Microphone not showing in device manager

Without more PC specifications, including what sound module, we can't really offer much advice.

However, one thing I see is the "High Defintion Audio Device". That suggests the drivers for the sound hardware are not installed and only the generic, basic function, Windows installed sound driver.

I have a MSI GT70 2OD, I have not really ever used bluetooth, so im not sure how long I have had the problem.
Running Windows 8.1 and everything updated. My computer does not seem to realize that it has bluetooth. The computer has the Killer Bigfoot Doubleshot Lan/Wlan/Btooth card. When I look in device manager there is no bluetooth, and i guess therefor no option in windows to toggle on/off bluetooth.

In the details tab of task manager there is a btvstack running and if I go to my bluetooth folder location I can run bttray.exe and have that running in details tab, however the tray icon does not appear.

I have looked quite a bit to find that it seems to be quite a common problem and not specific to MSI however cannot find a clear solution.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

A:bluetooth not showing up in device manager

Hi: Didn't you have to plug in a little USB thing for the wireless and keyboard to work? They don't normally run off the PC's bluetooth radio. The USB dongle is the wireless device that works with those. All PC's with Windows have Bluetooth services, whether or not the PC actually has bluetooth hardware. If you don't see a bluetooth radios icon in the device manager listing, then your PC does not have built in bluetooth networking. The easiest thing to do would be to puchase an external usb bluetooth adapter. I use this one on my HP business desktop PC and it works for what I use it for. https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400-Bluetooth-4-0-USB/dp/B007Q45EF4 Since your PC is a Configured to Order (CTO) model, there are no specs that indicate whether your specific build has it or not. It could have come with built in bluetooth networking on some models. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-Elite-HPE-100-Desktop-PC-series/4079700/model/412462... The only other suggestion I can offer would be to enter the product number of your PC in the part surfer website at the link below, and see what parts came with your PC.  Sometimes the part surfer will give exact info, and sometimes it will list all possible options. The product number of your PC can be found on the same sticker as the serial number. http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

OK we bought a Lenovo G50-80 laptop a year ago for my sister which had windows 10home in it.Recently she was doing some light multiplayer gaming and online stuff, but due to the windows 10 excess internet consumption due to the update services, internet speed was dwindling to a mere 350-500kbps So i tried to install a windows 7 in legacy mode which i was successful into doing it but stuck when i found out that the inbuilt GPU which was a AMD m330 was not showing up in the device manager.I was also unable to install the driver from the support website as it says that no GPU is found.I also tried all the updates listed in the website including the bios one which i did at the end (i mentioned it as i know flashing bios is dangerous, but i guess i am too late). Idk what to do now, i also tried the windows 8.1 but it didnt showed up in there either.Pls i need some suggestion ASAP! Machine Type Model: 80E502ULIN

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Wasn't clear to me which one was correct.

I have the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard. One of its features is onboard Bluetooth.

I have it enabled in BIOS. I flashed my BIOS to the latest version, I updated my chipset to the latest driver. I installed the latest Bluetooth driver. I started Bluetooth Support Service in Windows Services.

I've tried disabling Bluetooth in BIOS then enabling it.

I have never once seen anything in my computer that hinted at Bluetooth whatsoever. No Bluetooth Radios in Device Manager or anything Bluetooth related.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme

I have never tried to use it so I don't know if it ever worked before, but I have no system restore points set anyway, so that test isn't viable.

A:Bluetooth not working or showing up in Device Manager

It looks like a lot of people are having this problem with that motherboard.

One solution was to remove and reconnect the Bluetooth dongle from the motherboard port after installing the driver (yes it is removable, but it clips into the port).

Another was to make sure that the Bluetooth service was enabled in Windows.

Another solution that worked was posted by Necrosan over at ROG:"You need to install AI Suite II - specifically the Mobilink component - on your PC. (You can obtain the most recent version from the R4E ASUS website.)
Turn on bluetooth, pair the phone, open RC bluetooth, hit menu->devices. Choose previously paired device.
At this point it should "just work" if you are about 1-3 feet away from your computer. Any more distance than that and you likely will experience issues. (Yes, the range really does suck this bad.)

I just tested these exact instructions and they worked fine. Feel free to ask any follow up questions.
Enjoy. "
But I think that last one was only if it shows up in Device Manager but does not connect. Can't be sure.

Hello All -

First off, thank you so much for you assistance and removal tools. I caught the XP Recovery malware a month ago and all of your tutorials saved me.

Now however I awoke to a new issue - No internet connection on my DELL PC. There is no LAN listed under "Network Connections" and all attempts to start one fail (none showing).

In device manager all of my network adapters have the yellow "!" warning. I have attempted to install a new driver from intel for my PRO/100 VE network adapter but receive the "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Also the PORTS (COM &LPT) only show when I select hidden devices. Also the TCP/IP Protocol Driver then appears in the Non Plug and Play divers also with the yellow tag.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install the tcpip.sys file using both methods in these forums but without a LAN listed I cannot get the general protocol process to erase the current tcpip.sys file from the registry.

As a precaution that this might be a lingering effect of XP recovery I have run RKIll, TDSSKiller, and Malwarebytes (updated more than 10 days old) with nothing detected.

Please help. I have been away on vacation with the system off only to come back to this!

A:No COM1 port showing in device manager

The COM and LPT ports are unrelated to your network. You say that the network adapters all have a yellow exclamation point next to them (not a question mark, right?) An exclamation point indicates that Windows recognizes the device, but for some reason is having difficulties with it.

First, check your computer's support page on Dell.com and download the latest drivers for your network adapter (even if they're the same version as what you already have. Save them somewhere handy but don't install them yet.

In the device manager, right click on the network adapter and select "Uninstall" to uninstall the current software. Agree to any prompts asking to confirm, and then reboot. Windows may automatically detect and install the drivers again. If it doesn't, then install the driver you just downloaded. Reboot again and see if the network adapter is now functioning normally.

Hi there. Have been trying to work this out for days. I'm running windows 10. I have tried to download software that came with Easycap but it wont load. I get a blank square and feint lines where the contents of downloads are suppose to be visible to read. If i hold the click button on mouse on top of the line the word will appear ie install driver etc. I click this and the program loads to the finish. But that is it! I can only view webcam. In device manager there is no SMI grabber in my sound video and game controller list. I also don't see the usb come up in the device and drivers. I have viewed many forums but non have my initial problem. I would be fine to update driver for Windows 10 if i had smi grabber on my computer in the first place. Can you help me. (BTY i used this product on an older computer and it was fine - so i believe it is all in good working order) Thank you

My daughter plugged our USB HDD into a TV when we were on holidays and formatted it! I never saw her doing it, she told me. Now when I plug the drive into my PC it isn't found, I can't even see it in Device Manager.
Is this drive now ruined for good?
Any ideas how to format it so I can use it again?

Hello. My laptop is an:HP Pavilion dv6t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit version. The issue is that the dedicated graphics card: an ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 fails to show up in device manager most of the time. So instead the computer uses the Intel HD integrated graphics. Here it doesn't work. Here it works.I'm unsure why sometimes the dedicated graphics card is not detected but it's really frustrating.Does anyone have any ideas?
