Using VMware "converter" to convert a physical machine to a virtual machine

Q: Using VMware "converter" to convert a physical machine to a virtual machine

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me with the following. I tried to use VMware's free "converter" software to convert my physical HP machine to a virtual machine. However, when trying to run the virtual machine, it says that the virtual machine has two processors & that it is limited to only using one processor, & therefore, will not start. The physical machine is a dual core processor, but I see no way to configure the virtual machine so that it only has one processor.

It seems to me the software should just configure itself to at least run, and from there a person can try to tweak the settings and be advised if there are limitations at that point, but that would make to much sense. Alternatively, they could provide an easy way to change the settings so you can at least get the thing to run, but again, that would make to much sense.

Anyway, if anyone can help me get the virtual machine clone running, please let me know.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone. I am pretty stumped right now. I have a bunch of old laptops that run Windows 95 with software that will only run on them. We want to convert these to virtual machines because the laptops could die any day. Here's what I've tried so far:

Using VMWare Converter:
1. Tried to install it on the laptop running Windows 95 - couldn't install, the OS is not supported.
2. From a WinXP computer, running VMWare Converter and going through the network to back it up. Error - Unable to connect to the remote VMWare Converter Agent. The remote host is not accessible using Microsoft Network Services. Fyi I can get to everywhere on the network with this laptop.

I tried making an image of the laptop drive using Acronis True Image Echo Workstation. This created a .tib file. VMWare Converter is supposed to be able to convert .tib files to a virtual machine. I tried this and got the error message "Unable to load the source virtual machine or image. The file might be corrupt, or of an unsupported format."

Through the Acronis program, there is also an option to Convert Backup to Virtual Disk. So I took the .tib file I had and did just this. It actually finished but only created a .vmdk file and nothing else, just that single .vmdk file. I don't know what to do with just that file. Usually there are configuration files that go along with it, like a .vmx file.

So, has anyone successfully taken a working Windows 95 pc and converted it to a virtual disk usi... Read more

I've tried hosting a server for an indie computer game called Minecraft using the following .jar file
and while it works, I've been unable to allocate more than 1 gig of memory to the program.

Running the .jar file by itself leaves a very small amount of memory, which is tracked on the server window as "Memory use: # mb (% free)

The support forum for the game suggests using a .bat file with the following line:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar

This does increase the amount of memory, and while I should be able to increase the "1024" values to use even more, this is where I run into problems. Using "2048" or any other value in this .bat line produces an error stating:
"Unable to run virtual Java machine"

I've asked about this on the game's forum, and the only response I've gotten was from other Vista 64 bit users that have the same problem and are unable to solve it. Any thoughts?

I newly installed Windows 8.1 (not an upgrade, fresh install from corporate network) on a Dell Precision T7600 workstation and enabled the Hyper-V feature with the matching management. I created a couple of 2 GB RAM, 2 virtual CPUs VMs and am trying to install
Windows Server 2k8R2 and 2k12 on them. After a network boot, during the first couple dialog boxes for Windows setup, I am unable to use the keyboard. When I try to boot from an ISO, the VM get stuck on a black screen "Starting Windows". In either
case if I use the VM connection window menu to paste from clipboard or send ctrl+alt+del, I get the error:
Virtual Machine Connection
Could not send keys to the virtual machine.
Interacting with the virtual machine's keyboard device failed.

I search online for this error and did not find others experiencing it.
I tried to shutdown and reset both VMs, I stopped and restarted the Hyper-V service. Neither helped. I am not sure what other step I can take at this point.
Also, I configured a virtual switch as external network on one of the two Intel network adapters. Both connect to a gigabit switch. "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter" is checked. Both VMs are on the same virtual switch.

Hi together,
I have a virtual Windows 8 machine that had houndres of updates to install.
After finishing the updates and rebooting the system the machine stops (or takes very long time?) with "updating your system" 11% (for more than 12 hours).
For sure there is important data on the machine ;-).
I read about a problem with an old update (november)...
Any idea how to figure out if the machine is "only" very slow or how to proceed?

I've spent hours trying to do a repair install of Windows 10 on a VM Ware Fusion 8.5 virtual machine. The host machine is an iMac. The reason I'm doing a repair install is because some system files are corrupted and "sfc /scannow" only gets about halfway before it says it couldn't load some resources then quits.

The "Windows 10 installation has failed" message appears not long after starting the installation when it says about 6%.

I've attached a screenshot of the failure message as well as disk manager and the Panther folder which is curiously unpopulated (there's nothing in the two folders shown above). The Panther folder doesn't contain any error logs. However, on a previous installation attempt, I looked at an error log and it showed that it was not able to copy something from the installation disc to a location on C:/windows.

I have installed Windows 10 without problem on a number of other machines, but I'm stuck here on this one. By the way, no external drives or devices are attached to the machine (other than the apple bluetooth trackpad and keyboard which have never been a problem on other virtual machines). I've tried doing this repair install from the DVD drive as well as by copying the .iso image to the desktop and mounting it in file explorer. The result is the same.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I have a need to have like a virtual machine... not what you get when you see discussions about "Virtual Machine" software and functionality... but rather, When User X or Guest Logs In He goes to a seperate Partition or whatever... Just so the user sees none of the full administrators stuff, recent files, the auto fill stuff that comes up in like music, or images, or word docs etc... he will only see and have applications see what has happened on his area or partition... I am not opposed to having full duplicated OS and Programs on that partition if that is necessary... but when X logs in, he sees nothing but stuff on his partitions... Like I was looking for graphics for letterhead and invoicing for customer X with Customer X with me and some graphics for Customer Y popped up and Customer X should never have seen those ... Confidentiality... so when I was looking searching for the graphics ... the fill in complete whatever,,, feature popped up a filename that was obviously recognizable for Customer Y! That cannot Happen... I need to totally Segregate this stuff... Help. Under NT4 this was kinda easy but I have spent 9 hours scouring printed manuals and online sources and get everything but the simple things Ineed... Hey they do that at the public library even... Please Help.

Creating limited user accounts and encrypting the data that each user creates is probably only way to do it without installing multiple versions of the operating system. Each user should only see the files they've created.

I'm trying to run Client Hyper-V on my Windows 8 Pro machine. I was able to successfully install the service, and can create virtual machines and hard disks on my local system. I can even start them, and see boot activity via the preview window in the MMC.
I cannot, however, connect to any machines from the local system: when I do, it hangs on "Connecting to <machinename>" for 30 seconds before it pops up with the dialog:
"Cannot connect to virtual machine. Try to connect again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
Obviously, because this is Client Hyper-V, I am the system administrator, so I scour the Internet to solve my problem. I see solutions related to firewalls, administrative permissions, a few other things, and nothing has worked. I also tried creating
a virtual machine on a Windows 8 Enterprise system (which can connect to it just fine) and export it for the Pro machine to import, and I still cannot connect to it, whether the VM is registered in place or copied to the host.
Some other notes:
- None of these systems has an OS installed - two locally created ones either had no boot or booted off a Linux LiveCD, and the exported one attempted to do a PXE boot. Thus, I cannot attempt to link via Remote Desktop since the computers have no names
- Hyper-V has some other quirks on my system as well: in order to stop a virtual machine, I have to end the vmwp process - which restarts the machine - and then stop it fr... Read more

A:"Could Not Create Java Virtual Machine"

Hi there.

Two things to try, in this order:

1) Disable the 3rd party firewall if you have one. Usually uninstall is necessary to test but not for this. Reboot.

2) If issue still repeats, download and install Malwarebytes. Run it then update definitions within it. Let it scan and remove anything it finds.

Let us know how it goes. There are lots of great folks here. Someone is liable to come up with a solution for you.

Hi everyone,
I am having trouble interconnecting Virtual machines(vm's) in my vmware wokstation 9.0. I have set all of them to LAN segment 1;prior to that they were all connected to a custom vmnet2. I want to construct a private lan inside vmware. I have already assigned a static ip for each;didn't assign any default gateway, since I want to make it a private lan, where I can configure DC,DNS etc.Well the problem undermining the circumstances arises out of the fact that pinging to another vm is unsuccessful for any of the vm. Beside that, there is no option for creating a team in vmware 9.0. Could anyone specify me where I went wrong;is a team necessary for a private lan,if so which version would you suggest?; else a detailed documentation of a step by step procedure will be much appreciated.

I need to hook it up asap;if anyone would kindly take his/her time in explaining to me my cons and help me set it up,it would be much appreciated.

Is it possible to use VMWare to install an OS that you can boot up on when you do an "actual" reboot on the computer instead of using VMWare to start it up?

A:Installing An OS using VMWARE (not as a virtual machine)

If you want to be able to boot directly in the OS it has to be installed. Create a second partition for the OS you want to use, install the OS to that partition and create a dual-boot (or use a boot manager like Lilo or Grub if the two OS's don't use the same boot loader). Make some research before you install since installing another OS on another partition of the same hard drive will overwrite the boot sectors of the previous OS.

What operating systems are you talking about ?

I decided (more out of academic interest than need) that I would setup windows 10586 in a vm on VMWARE, and also Insider version.

Problem was I could not find anyway of doing this. You could install first version, but how to install second version, as you automatically boot to the installed version?

I looked on various sites including Macrium, and I saw dual booting was possible, but all videos referred to windows, linux where you can install linux as dual boot within windows.

Some sites said it was not possible but I was sure if you could modify boot files with linux there had to be a way with two windows installs.

I am sure it can be done using pre-prepared virtual hard drives and initially jumping to a command prompt to attach vhds etc. I did not want to do that as you cannot upgrade OS in vhds.

So I had a ponder, and my good old friend Macrium Reflect Free came to mind.

So I installed 10586 in a vm, installed Macrium Reflect Free, and used that to create a boot entry, unsure if this would work in a vm.

To my surprise, it worked first time. So now it was a simple case of:-

1) creating an image backup of an existing install 10 pro, home, Insider, 8 or even 7. I put this on a large usb flash drive.

2) shrinking c drive in vhd to create enough space (could have expanded drive instead)

3) restart vm, booting into Macrium and restore C drive partition only (not system partitions) from backup to unallocated space.

4) use Macrium 'fix windows boot problem'... Read more

A:Dual booting inside a VMWARE Virtual Machine.

You can even combine two individual virtual machines to a single dual boot vm. In Hyper-V this is extremely easy, you just copy the .vhd or .vhdx file of the other vm to your first vm, mount it and add to boot menu (adding a VHD to boot menu for native boot: Hyper-V - Native Boot VHD - Windows 10 Forums)

You are using VMware, a .vmdk file. That needs first to be converted to .vhd file but then it's easy. See this tutorial on our sister site Seven Forums for converting a VMDK file to VHD and adding it to native boot: Windows 10 - Test Try with No Risk, No Install - Windows 7 Help Forums (Part One steps 2 & 3 for tools needed, Part Three for converting VMDK to VHD, Part Four to add it to boot menu).

A few years ago we bought a new car and I purchased a computer-based shop manual for the car from eBay. I installed it on two of my Windows 7 computers;a 32-bit version and a 64-bit version. Both of the installations went fine and the program runs fine on both of them.
The program runs in an environment called VMware Player, rather than just running in Windows 7 directly. I know very little about virtual machines, but I think that this one is running Windows XP as the OS in the window.
Yesterday, I decided to install the program on a computer that I built last year using an Asus B150 motherboard and an Intel Core i3-6100 processor. The installation went okay, but when I tried to launch the program in VMware Player, I get the BSOD with the following information:

If the program works fine on other systems you have...first thing I would do is uninstall it and reinstall, to see if the error was just a quirk of Windows.
If I still had a problem with said program...I would do the following.
1.  Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:  List last 10 Event Viewer log  List Installed Programs  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
2.  Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.
The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.

In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.

Thanks in advance,

A:How to recover files in VMWare virtual machine disk(.vmdk) file?

If you have another VM then you can add the non-booting vmdk file to it as another hard drive. At least that's the theory, in my experience what boots is the added vmdk file so you would actually want to add a good/bootable vmdk file to the non-booting VM.

Then boot it up and the files will be accessible.

So, to get started, you need to create another RHEL4 VM.

Hope that makes sense.

My company bought out a company recently and now I have to manage a new server. The server is windows 2000 server that is getting fairly old now (not sure exact age of server). There are no more than 10 users accessing the server. It is running out of hard drive space and sometimes the tape backup drive acts up. This server does a bunch of different jobs. The server is running exchange server 2000, a blackberry server for a couple users, ms sql server (I think 2003?) for some accounting software and it is also a file server.

I was thinking of replacing it with a windows 2008 server but that would mean buying all new server software and office 2007 to connect to exchange 2007. Than I would need to migrate data to the new server. I have a some experience with migrating right now as I have setup a test lab to try things out using virtualbox.

So I have also been thinking about converting the windows 2000 server to a virtual machine and running vmware or other virtual machine software on a new server and using the image from the old server.

So my question is, would converting the server to a virtual machine and running it that way be a good idea? It would save a lot of money in software. Does any one have any pro's and con's to this type of idea or would getting a new server be the best option?

Thanks for all the help.

A:need advice if I should convert a server to a virtual machine

In my limited experience, virtualization is best for larger corporations that want to reduce the amount of hardware, energy consumption, and space requirements. A lot of the time, if you're a smaller company it would actually cost more in licensing costs to virtualize than to buy another server.

Hi guys

If you want to try running Virtual machines but don't want the hassle of installing a brand new OS as a Virtual Machine you can do the reverse of Virtual to Physical (V2P) . This is called P2V (Physical to Virtual) and usually presents less problems than the reverse operation. You can make a Virtual Image of your existing Windows system which will work as a VM.

This will work on Windows or Linux . The example here is on a Linux Host but it also works on a Windows Host.

You can use the FREE virtualisation software. VMWARE SERVER, and VMWARE PLAYER are free offerings -- the VMWARE server is good because it means that you can connect directly to a VIRTUAL WINDOWS MACHINE from a remote computer. You need the (Free) vmware server to do this --With vmware workstation you can only connect to the HOST computer but with the server version you can RDP directly to the virtual machine.

with workstation you can rdp directly to the VM, but it must not be using NAT for the virtual network. IF you give the VM its own IP, then you can rdp in just like normal.

This enhancement applies to VMware Player standalone. If you have VMware Workstation installed, you don't need to apply this as Workstation includes all the features (and also includes VMware Player).

As the most VMware Workstation users know, there is a virtual network editor available that lets you configure the virtual networks, add new networks and delete networks for the virtual machines and also bridged networks with the host computer.

One of the usage of the network editor is fixing the bridged network connection:
How to fix bridged networking in VMware player - YouTube

The editor is useful (mostly for advanced users...but you'll never now when it might be needed) to add, delete and configure the default virtual networks that come pre-installed with Player.

VMware Player is Workstation's little brother, it's free and comes with less features. There is no Network editor with VMware Player (...or is it?)

The network editor is available in the VMware Player installer but it's default set NOT to install with the rest of the features (don't know why).

It seems different fixes need to be applied to each of Player's version 4, 5 or 6.

If using version 4 of the Player, this also applies to version 3.

I'm gonna show you how to add the network editor to VMware Player.
It's easy, or it should have been... but each version has its surprise.
Keep in mind that techniques used for one version apply for newer versions too but the files need to be extracted form other in... Read more

A:How to add the "Virtual Network Editor" to VMware Player

The /e .\extract parameter worked well up to version 4.0.2.
With VMware Player 4.0.3 it didn't worked anymore (checked a couple of times) with the shortcut trick.

Gotta try in command prompt.
But I managed to copy the network.cab from temp when it was installing (..\user\AppData\Local\..)

I am trying to map a network drive to a remote server. The server is not on the same network as the computer I am trying to map the drive on.

I have the external IP address, the port number, and the drive letter on the server.  I have entered http:// IP Address:Port Number/drive letter.  I get an error message stating that the drive path is incorrect.

I am using the network drive mapping wizard in the Computer screen.

The remote server is part of a local network with 3 other computers running in the VMware workstation connected by NAT connection .I run this server port number 9000 of host machine  by Port forwarding method.

I need help with the proper syntax for mapping the drive to the remote server.  I can't get my Windows 10 machine to connect to the server.  I need to get shared folder of virtual machine in another computer.

How do I map a drive to my remote server?  Please be specific as I am not that familiar with networking.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I am running a server in vmware workstation which is connected with NAT connection. I made port forwarding for access this virtual machine from outside the host computer. That is when type host computer ip:9000 in chrome it redirects to server web interface
which is running in vmware workstation because I redirect port 8080 in virtual machine to port 9000 in host machine.

Now I want to get all shared folders in the virtual machine . when I typed host ip in run dialog box it gives only the host machine shared folders . when i typed host ip along with port number it shows error.

What should I do for getting all shared folders of virtual machine in other computer in same network.

Note:Should not use bridge network connection.

Whether it is possible?.

Thank you for your help in Advance.

I have two Win8.1 x64 IE11 machines. (Not the same kind of machine, but the presently installed system software environments are very similar.) They are syncing my IE favorites via Microsoft Account. One calls the users\me\favorites folder where it stores
Favorites Bar shortcuts "Favorites Bar". The other machine calls the exact same functional thing "Links". I've even tried deleting both folders with IE not running on either machine. Restart IE on one or the other, enable Favorite Bar toolbar
and the disparately named folders come right back on both machines.
Any idea why this would be and how I get them to agree what to call it? I'm suspecting some reg key somewhere.
(I first notice this because I made the grave mistake of trying iCloud Sync. This *really* sent iCloud Sync into a ditch. What a hash that made of virtually everything it touched in IE, Outlook, Chrome, the stuff on my Mac, you name it. Turned that
off and cleaned up the mess and am now leaving it off. The folks at Apple who wrote that obviously only ever had one PC and only ever ran one browser on it and didn't teach the Mac about their Google accounts or run Chrome.)
<rant>It's stuff like this, and the frequent runaway scripts/crashed windows/"problem with web page"/problems rendering and interacting with way too many sites that have me just about to change my default browser to Chrome.

A:"Links" on one machine "Favorites Bar" on another

When both the special folders are deleted on two machines syncing, one gets recreated called "C:\Users\myuser\Favorites\Links" and the other one on the other machine gets recreated called "C:\Users\myuser\Favorites\Favorites Bar" Both
have the object name "C:\Users\myuser\Favorites\Links". Despite one of them showing up as ...\Favorites Bar. Why wouldn't they get created with the same file system name?
In the test I *just* did, I renamed the "Links" version to "Favorites Bar". It promptly created a "Links" folder again. On the other machine, it now also has both an empty "...\Links" folder and a "...\Favorites
Bar" folder with the synced shortcuts. But the IE on both now shows an empty Favorites Bar toolbar. Sigh.
So what I tried, and what seemed to work, is turning Sync off for the One Drive|Other Settings|Web Browser on both machines, then deleting all the Favorites Bar and Links folders on both with no IE instances running. Start IE on both machines. Each creates
a "...\Favorites Bar" folder, not hidden, not System, but Object Name "...\Links". Turn back on syncing and all appears to work and now they agree on the file system name.
Conclusions/data points:
1) If IE creates the Links special folder it names it "...\Favorites Bar" even though it's a Links special folder, if Sync creates the Links special folder it names it "...\Links".
2) IE... Read more

Okay guys, I'm at my wits end.

In the device manager, there are two entries for the video card, one being called secondary. The primary one has a code 12.

When I load up Windows, and the ATI control panel goes to load, it gives me an error saying that the driver is either not installed or not installed correctly and then proceeds to close.

I have disabled the onboard video in safe mode, uninstalled the onboard video drivers, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the ATI drivers about a million different times in a million different ways.

According to e-machines tech support, you can't disable onboard video in the BIOS.

ATI tech support told me that I needed to upgrade my BIOS (and that this problem was common on e-machines) but then e-machines proceeded to tell me that there was not a BIOS update available for my machine.

So one big resounding WTF from me.

As for my specs, I am not entirely sure how to give them to you, but here is a link to my particular model on e-machines website.

I recently upped the RAM to 768MB.

At this point I am just wondering if I ought to save up my money for a better machine.

This one has me baffled and I hope you can help.  Here's the scenario: brand new freshly imaged Windows 7 Enterprise workstation; image built with MDT and Sysprep; machine initially in Workgroup.

The Task Scheduler service is set to "automatic" and is started and running as it should be. Add the machine to the domain; reboot; the Task Scheduler server is now in "manual", is not running, and any options to change anything are grayed
out. I can change the startup state to "automatic" by going into the registry but we can't have service desk people doing that. We need to have Task Scheduler set to "automatic" for so many reasons.

Here is what I have checked so far:  1. ran RSOP.msc and check if there is a GPO which is affecting the Task Scheduler service; there is not.  2. Checked any GPO's that might be running a script (logon, logoff, etc.); there doesn't seem to be anything
affecting Task Scheduler.

Does anybody have any ideas about this?  Have you ever seen Task Scheduler configured to "manual" after adding a machine to the domain?  When the freshly imaged machine is just sitting there in Workgroup, Task Scheduler is fine so I don't
think it is a problem with the image.

I've tried Googling this a lot but didn't find anything relevant.  Thanks if you can help.

I've been checkin some info in other places but the problem appears to be resistant to solutions

After scanning and removing some viruses, I found myself without wireless internet connection. I suppose some configuration was changed by the virus but I can't find out what it was to restore to default. There are 2 other PC linked wirelessly to the same router and this is the only one with the issue.

I tried ipconfig/renew failed, ping xxxxxxxx General Failure, netsh int ip reset reset.log and netsh winsock reset catalog after reboot no luck...

Help would be apreciated, I can post the result of ipconfig/all if you need it

Thanks in advance!

A:Internet wireless connection: "Limited Connectivity" in one machine!

Just to confirm,
The command is ipconfig /release & ipconfig /renew
There is a space between ipconfig and /
If you've already tried it, then looks like the viruses must have corrupted the winsock catalog.

Hello all fairly new to this page so would gladly apreciate some advice on trying to get past a niggly error message which is recuring despite carrying out Microsofts Solutions.
Any feedback will be a bonus as this fault is randomly popping up and is incredibly annoying doesnt seem to happen at specific times say when creating a task as microsoft document .
We are recieving a "Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid".
For which i have tried a number of differing solutions via microsoft including creating new mail profile, renaming outlook data files, .ost and .pst repairer tool, outlook check and repair facilty as well as removing live meeting which can aparently cause a conflict. We are using Office 2003 SP1 and this is a networked PC gettin mail from Exchange 2003 server. An isolated incident here but still very annoying as other computers run fine using same hardware and OS ) Thanks Again Have fun all

Just wondering if anyone has an expert opinion they'd like to share on whether the one year of Trend Micro Titanium that Best Buy threw in for free is something I ought to actually use, or should I just install the apps that are generally recommended in this forum?

My big consideration is how much the security software I use will slow down my system. Although I don't do anything too rigorous, so maybe I shouldn't worry about that?

Thanks very much in advance, and I hope this is an ok topic for this section!

A:Should I use/skip the "Trend Micro Titanium IS" that came free w/my Win 8.1 machine?

I think you should try it at least for a while. Only you can decide if it's suitable for your computer and situation. Trend Micro gets good reviews and it's free. There are plenty of excellent free alternatives that you can download and in fact Windows 8.1 has good security built in of its own. See how it goes.

I get that error (wmi related i think), when i try to check the policies on this client.. its an XP sp2 machine, a member of a 2003 domain..

I've tried removing the workstation from the domain, then deleting its account.. then renaming the machine and rejoining, but nothing has gotten me around this error..

Does anyone know what else to look for..

EIther way, i'm pretty sure GPO's arent being applied properly on this machine (actually there is another machine having a similar error as well).. I think on that machine.. the window that pops up after hitting rsop.msc, was something like "not found".
