Solved: lots of error messages..and freezing..

Q: Solved: lots of error messages..and freezing..

For the last few weeks, everytime I turn on my computer, about 10 error messages come up. It's the same error message that looks like this:
*If you want to read what the error message says, click the photo and then click the expand button in the bottom right corner to read it*

I would click "close" and the message would keep popping up but then disappear after a while.
My computer has also been acting very slow while on the internet, sometimes it would freeze and I wouldn't be able to click anything. While it freezes, it would make this beeping noise repeatedly until it unfreezes too.

Is my computer infected with a virus? What does the error message mean? How can I solve these problems and what do you think all of this is caused from?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently reformatted due to slowing of my computer and things have been great, playing alot of Battlefield 2142 and it looks amazing on my rig, however today I was playing and things were going excruciatingly show, and eventually just stopped. I had to unplug it and turn it back on. I noticed problems immediately after XP loaded up and got on my user. Resolution was to a minumum, my AIM, Steam, and just about everything crashed and gave me the error report message. Everytime I load AIM or Firefox(IE too), it gives me an error report screen, however there really isn't a problem, i just move the error window to the corner of my screen and I'm able to browse freely. But I can't do anything besides that really, my sound drivers are screwed, 2142 takes years to load and without sound isn't much use, I can't really figure out what the heck happened. I seem to keep getting BSOD errors and others. I had 1 that said something about NV4_disp.dll, I don't have that one anymore, a few months ago I had a problem where 1 stick of RAM went bad and the BSOD's had nothing to do with the RAM, I took out the last original RAM and that problem now seems to be gone, but there are others:

Hi,Ok, I'm sure there's something wrong with my computer, I'm just not smart enough to figure it out. New files appear tha rt I have no idea where they came from, etc. I really need some expert help here, please, I'm at my wits end. What you are describing here is normal Windows Vista behavior and nothing to worry about. If you perform a scan, then it's normal that some files are locked, because they are important system files and are in use, so scans cannot access them. So it is totally normal that you cannot remove these files - LUCKILY! Because that would have caused a lot of problems if you delete them. Examples of these files are pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys and many more.So please DO not try to delete similar locked files, they are locked with a reason!Yes, it's also normal, since you are running Vista, if you want to remove a program, that it will display a warning. This is to ask you for extra permission if it's ok to remove it or not, so it displays extra warnings, in this case - for Java -, the Windows installer utility that wants to access - in order to remove that... I have Vista 32 bit, and my PC was working fine until I downloaded the same virus twice. I was unsure what had caused it the first time as I was downloading numerous things, but I only realised what it was after trying to re-download one of the programmes a second time after the first virus. (http://download.cnet.com/Corel-VideoStudio-Pro/3000-13631_4-10029706.html)

The First Time:

I downloaded the virus, and I got the Blue Screen of Death, the PC automatically restarted, and when it did, I realised Norton 360 had become disabled, and was saying my PC was under threat, so I went to safe mode, restored a day or two back and then scanned with Norton - there weren't any problems. My PC was then running normally, but a little slower. I downloaded Advanced SystemCare and Malwarebytes - and I deleted a lot of files under Advanced SystemCares instructions.

The Second Time:

I downloaded the virus again, and I got the Blue Screen of Death, the PC automatically restarted, I went to Safe Mode, and restored it to a few hours back, I think. I had downloaded Advanced SystemCare and Malwarebytes prior to the second time, so I used all these 3 anti-virus in safe mode, all came up with no infected files/virus etc... But with Advanced SystemCare, I decided to use a few tools in the toolbox such as "Clone Files Scanner" - which deletes clone files to free up space, amd I used the registry cleaner.

When I started the PC again in normal mode after scanning with the anti-viruse... Read more

Hello, let's get a second opinion on the malware first.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. I have been having steady stream of BSOD's served to me under a variety tasks. This has happened from when watching youtube clips, to being inactive, to using a word processor. I have updated my Video card drivers...etc, and I cannot seem to get to the source of the issue.

I have attached my DM log. Can anyone take a look?

A:BSOD in a variety of tasks, lots of different error messages

I can't see the wood for the trees.

1. Log in as administrator, open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Windows\Minidump
2. Delete all .dmp files in that folder
3. Run Driver Verifier as follows:

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Driver Verifier will cause your computer to run very sluggishly - this is normal. What it is trying to do is force your system to BSOD and isolate the offending driver/s. When it does, reboot, disable driver verifier, reboot as normal and upload the new dmp file/s here.

I recommend creating a system restore point before turning on driver verifier:
System Restore Point - Create

If your system fails to boot to desktop once driver verifier is enabled, turn it off by booting into Safe Mode:
Safe Mode

* Set the BIOS back to defaults (I had it on 'performance mode')
* Updated SSD firmware to latest version
* Uninstalled Daemon Tools lite after reading something on here. Not sure if I managed to get the driver too
* Lots of the blue screen errors were Atheros, so dug around with alternate drivers for my TP Link wireless card, then uninstalled it, removed it and started using the ASUS onboard one
* Updated all the mobo utilities and drivers from the ASUS site
* Updated the Nvidia drivers (clean install)
* Unplugged my Wacom
* Switched SSD cable and port (using the onboard ports rather than 3rd party)

Welcome aboard.

► First you fill up your system specs.
See your system specs and fill it up here.

► Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

My computer has froze a couple times and once it did a disk check. It had said one disk needs to be checked for consistency. The type of the file system is ntfs volume label is HP. I think that's what all has happened.

Any ideas? Thanks. I don't know anything technical about computers so will probably mean a trip to the repair shop.

Im hoping someone can shed some light on this issue. For the past few months I have been having some issues with my computer just freezing on me and sometimes sending a high pitch noise through my headset. This not a BSOD, the current image on my computer will sometimes just freeze and other times the computer will simply reboot.
Previously I was suggested to change the kernal memory dump to small memory dump however that did not produce a memory dump when the freeze happened.
This issue has been happening with Windows 8 and then after a clean install on Windows 10.
So far I have confirmed that it is not an overheating issue as my temps stay in the 80F range during games. Since it was not happening when I was pushing my sound to my on board sound I figured that could be the issue so I disabled my other sound card and the issue still happened.
Does anyone have an idea on where I should start looking next? Below are my system's specs and I have attached the Resource and Performance Monitor.

Let me first start by saying that I have run hitman pro, spybot S&D, malwarebytes, windows security essentials, tdsskiller and a few registry cleaners. I detected some things and removed them then re-ran everything again. Every single one of the programs I listed came back the 2nd time as "no issues detected." I think my issues started happening when I wanted to run an old win 95 game and downloaded wings32.dll and put it in my system32. Bad idea apparently. So, I deleted it the other day, but the problems are still happening.
At times my PC is completely and totally unusable and at other times it works perfectly fine. I've been trying to narrow down the problem but I can't help but think that it might be a corrupted hard drive. Maybe you guys can help.
So, my PC ran fine for 1 day after I freed it of the viruses/malware and then the same problem happened again. Windows kept freezing and I noticed that several instances of conhost.exe, csrss.exe and dllhost.exe were running, and dllhost.exe in particular kept duplicating and re-duplicating, to the point where like 10 of them are running at one time.
Error messages have included the one saying windows installer is missing (it randomly got disabled even though I didn't disable it), some error about how task manager can't start and then it brought me to a completely black screen for about 5 minutes then back to my desktop, and some other weird errors I've never seen before (I'll tell you guys about them... I have a sony fw290, it is about 6months old. I had absolutely no problems with it until a few weeks ago i would get the blue screens or it would just randomly freeze. So basically after talking to useless sony support they sent me a new harddrive.

Now i continue to get the freezes, no error messages or blue screens(one time i got bluescreen error which seemed to be related to network card,i updated it and never got it again) but sometimes the system will just randomly freeze and the only way i can quit out is to hold the power button down. Some days it will constantly freeze after as little as 5min, somedays it wont freeze at all. It freezes with no programs running or with lots running,it doesn't seem to matter in that respect. Sometimes i will get like mini freeze ups where it freezes for a few seconds then unfreezes, when i get one of these i know the big freeze is coming soon.

Does anyone who what might be causing this? I have done virus scans, and also the system will freeze up in safe mode. Sonys advice of course is to reinstall windows

Hope someone can help it is driving me crazy.

Its a neighbor of mine I help them take care of their computer all the time.

The problem is the screen freezing randomly, it might be in 3 min might be 5 or 10 or 25, it does it after it has been turned off for awhile or all night or when you have been on it for awhile or quite awhile. Point being its not heating up cause it does it when it has been off for hours them 3 or 4 min after it is turned on or sometime it might be 2 hours after you turn it on. I had a thread a couple of weeks ago about this same computer I came to the conclusion that it was the Powersupply, so I put in a brand new 400W powersupply and it ran great (no freeze ups for a few days then all of a sudden it started in again).

The mouse freezes so they can't do anything but shut it down at the tower so I gave them another usb mouse tonight and told them when it freezes to unplug there mouse and put the new usb mouse in and see it it works right away then it would be the mouse. I have great doubts about it being that but I am at witts end. I consider myself pretty good at fixing computers hardware and software problems but I am lost. I have no idea. I looked in the divice manager everything is ok, checked the events and nothing happening there. I know the computer is clean of viruses or spyware cause I keep it clean for them monthly.

A:Solved: Windows XP SP2- Screen freezing-no pattern- but lots- Can someone help? Pleas

The first thing that comes to mind with older machines is overheating. They can accumulate a lot of dust (even in the cleanest places) and fans can get bogged down. Check all your air intakes and remove dust from the interior. Make sure that all fans are moving (including the one on the graphics card, if present).

While inside, check all your connectiuons and make sure the graphics card is firmly in its slot.

If that doesn't help, try a memory test:

MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)

If you have enough memory sticks, you can test them by removing one at a time and see if the problem disappears.

If you are running Vista and can boot up, go to Start > Search and type:

Choose to run a memory diagnostic on next boot. Or, you can boot from the DVD and run it from there.

I use windows Live Mail, wife uses XP. Many in my vomputer club use XP, Vista,win7 as I do.

I have been accused of forwarding messages to a group of people, one of which claimed she got over 50 of them. Another friend has been accused of sending a message to two people that claimed to receive many copies. In on case my wife got a message with overa full page of the same message and suddenly they started deleting dwon to one message

In all the cases mentioned the sent message total showed just one message. I have searched the web for possible reason for this whithout a clear possible cause. In one case I got a reply for Outlook and Outlook Express that was to protect the person receiving the duplicate copies but nothing about settings that would prevent the action.

Does anyone have any ideas??? Pleae ignor missplelled words I slept during spelling during growing up.

A:duplicate email messages, lots of them

One common cause of repeated sends that can be traced back to your actual mail program is possibly anti-malware tools that are trying to scan outgoing email, or otherwise interfere with the proper operation of the mail program. It's a common cause of repeated (or failed) downloads of email, and when the feature is enabled to scan sent mail, it can interfere there as well.

Depending on the type of interference, the email program responds by saying "well, that didn't work, I'll try to send it again" - and again, and again.

The solution here is pretty simple: locate that feature in your anti-malware or security suite, and turn it off. You may need to close and restart your email program, or even reboot your machine for the change to take effect.

Another possibility is that the Sent folder has a size limit. Let's say there's a 2GB limit for all saved Sent emails. Once that limit is reached weird things can happen. If there are a lot of emails with photo attachments, etc in the Sent folder, it wouldn't be all that hard to reach the mail box limit. Try creating a new folder. Call it whatever you want; maybe something like "SentArchive", or "OldSenrMail" and move all the messages in your Sent folder to the new folder. That should a) retain all your sent messages should you need to refer to them, and b) empty the Sent folder so the mail box limit isn't a factor.

Another possibility is that your email account has been compromised. This art... Read more

My computer said it had automatic updates. I clicked and it installed IE 2008. While working I opened Mozilla bcuz I always use IE but I needed to use them both at the same time. I started getting popups which i NEVER get. Then AVG said I had a trojan warning, a dangerous virus. All browsers shut down on their own. IE WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. It only allows me to use Mozilla. I ran antivirus scan. says I have infected files and trojan name is everywhere.

Windows keep shutting down on their own.

after about 15 min sitting idle, the screen goes BLACK!!! unity isnít off but nothing works. I tried to turn off power manually and the screen stayed black, but the tool bar @ the bottom showed some windows and one thing running that I never opened. In a panic, I turned it off completely by pressing the power button.

I really need my IE back. I donít care for Mozilla. This is my work computer and I DO NOT want to compromise any customer credit card information.

I'm hoping one of your clever people might be able to help with a number of different BSOD stop screens since reinstalling Windows 7 64bit pro.

I've been getting a number of different messages appear (irq not less or equal, memory manager, error in non paged area), but i can't work out where the problem is.

I've ran the Intel processor diag tool, which was fine, then memtest86 which was fine (only for one pass though), then checked that all the drivers are the latest, then ran Driverscanner which said my usb mass storage driver was out of date (but haven't been able to update that yet), i've even reinstalled the os a couple of times, but i'm stating to hit a 'brick wall' with this one.

A:lots of BSOD messages since system rebuild

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (probably a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver verifier

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you... Read more

1. I KNOW the virus was contracted in AIM. An IM came in from a friend with only a link. It

2.When the computer starts up, sometimes a default background appears before the logon

3.After logon, the same thing in general happens every time. Spybot comes up with a bunch

of messages saying that there is a registry change to my homepage or something else

happening. I deny it, and it denies it over and over again to seemingly no avail. A .txt

file appears on the desktop. I have never opened this file, don't know what it is, and

Recently I have been getting some error type messages that I don't understand:

1) I'll be using Firefox and I'll it down and get my desktop. Then I click on my Firfox icon to get it once again and sometimes I get this with a question mark:

"Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your computer".

When I do Ctrl-Alt-Del, and it shows Firefox to be running but not responding, and I click to end it, I once again get the above message so I have to shut down by turning off the juice.

2) A couple of times when Spy Sweeper is open and I click to cancel it, I get this error message:

"This program cannot be closed because it is locked by the system".

So, again, I have to shut down by cutting off the juice.

3) Error message that I usually get when I boot up:

"Rundll Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\MP3PLUGINDLL
The specified module could not be found."

I don't deal with mp3 but my granddaughter does.

A few minutes ago, all of a sudden I got a blue screen with a message that said I was being shut down to protect my computer. It said to restart if that is the first time I got the message, which it was. I again had to shut down by cutting off the juice and then I restarted and things are working like they have been.

I am wondering if someone can suggest how I should deal with the above?

Whenever I open my files, I get this: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
And then, after that message goes away, I then get this: "Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a problem and must close".
I have seen others that refer to DEP. Can you tell me what causes problems like these?
They are not open very long and I can't get much done. Help!!

AIM keeps giving me random "unknown error" messages. Even when not really doing anything. And nothing actually goes wrong. It's usually when I'm typing... but it doesn't miss a letter or anything.
I have the latest version of AIM so I don't know what to do.

although we have removed/ uninstalled the game warcraft II, every time we restart the computer a message box comes up on the screen stating -

warcraft II map editor
" unable to find warcraftII data file 'data\maindat.war'. the file war2.ini contains the cd path to your cd rom drive and may need to be modified if your cd-rom drive has been reconfigured."

i've tried lot and lots of things and simply cannot find the way to remove this notice.

i am beginning to get alot of error messages and a few lock ups especially when my son's playing an internet game, "everquest", and have been told that it looks like it is time to reload windows (98se) again.

a couple of programs wont open and i first get this
message on both of them.....

- the msvcirt.dll file is linked to missing export msvcrt.dll:[email protected]@z.

then another message comes up....

c:\programsfile\newsoft\pagemanager\prestopm.exe- a device attached to the system is not functioning.

is there an easy fix for this problem? or do i reinstall?

so, looking for a positive experience, step by step directive of how to do it with out losing everything including my mind and a considerable amount of time.

thanks for everyones time and energy.

I am helping a friend with her PC, she is recieving an error message reading "0x8024502D" We have tried every thing we can get our hands on to get rid of it. I have read that it has something to do with Windows XP's update program and it locks you out of most web sites requiring secure traffic. Are there any hopes of recovery? In the time we have spent today we could have reloaded XP! Thanks for any ideas you can pass on, Alan

Hi everyone....

I'm having a problem with IE 6.0 that I've not seen before. I'm using a fresh O/S build on my Dell XPS. It's been working fine for a couple of weeks since the rebuild. When I am at a website for my online antique store and am filling in the web form to add a new item there is a place in the form to add photos from my computer. So I hit the Add Image button which pops up a window for me to browse to the correct folder/file and then add the image. Two things are happening at this point. Either the window hangs and just sits there or it completely closes down that IE window. This started happening last night. When it was still an issue this morning I used system restore to go back a couple of days. That didn't fix the issue. Here are a couple of the events that are showing in event viewer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: None

delete those. use the one that works. you can later make new guest accounts with no
issues if needed. they will not have eveything. but they won't conflict either.
