Save sent messages and spelling

Q: Save sent messages and spelling

All of a sudden the messages I send from my hotmail account using outlook express are not saved in the sent message folder anymore. In the tools - option - send tab, the "save copy of sent messages in sent items folder " is thicked as it should be if I wanted to save the messages.
Plus when I write a new message, the option to check spelling is in the grey color typical of not active functions and in the options I can't find anything that would able it.
Thanks for any help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My AOL Instant Messenger will not save away messages, even after marking "save" on the away message window. When I go into my preferences and click 'Add Away Messages' and save them, they will stay for maybe a couple of days and then get lost. Moreover, my AIM preferences are all lost every couple of days. I don't understand how to fix this problem or what could be causing it because I have installed and re-installed AIM several times but nothing seems to work. In every version, my away messages nor my preferences will save. In addition, AIM gets disconnected and signs right back on periodically and does not seem to be able to stay connected for more than one whole day. Can someone help me with this problem?

Hello TSGuys!!!

I have a troubling email problem.

I'm trying to save a few hundred Earthlink email messages from my wife's work laptop to an XP new folder I created on her laptop screen.

When I open the Earthlink mailbox, click Select All, and attempt to drag the messages to the new folder, the method won't work (I get the circled slash).

I was surprised by this because on my laptop, which uses Outlook/Outlook Express and ATT WorldNet, I've been able to drag and drop in hundreds of messages from work to my on-screen folder (both use Outlook).

My wife has a Dell, running Earthlink and Earthlink Total Access.
It is presently networked, but will be discontinued in the next 2 weeks.
She will keep the computer, but the Earthlink service will be terminated.

My final goal is to be able to save all my wife's Earthlink messages, burn them to a CD, and be able to view the messages on both computers, either as a Word document, or using ATT WorldNet.

I searched for solutions on the web but found none.

Questions:

1. Can the Earthlink messages be saved in a Win XP folder?

2. If so, how?

3. If successful, can the messages be viewed without the Earthlink program?

4. Will keeping the Earthlink installed, but not connected, enable me to at least open and read the messages?

You guys have helped me a great deal in the past, and I'm hoping you can come through for me one more time.

Thank you in advance.

adf

hi everybody,

I have a question. I wish to backup everything in my email accounts (hotmail or yahoo) on my PC, like mail messages, select some attachments to store on my PC while others not, store contacts, i.e. COMPLETE BACKUP SOLUTION, but just backup, i.e. COPY, NOT CUT AND PASTE, NOR MOVE

If there isn't a tool to back all the upper stuff, okay, just a part of it, i've no problem with that, but the most important are the e-mail messages.

What is the tool to do so and how?

Please step in guys and provide me with some info about that.

A:backup email messages and save them on my pc

If you had a POP3 email client which downloaded email to your PC, then
it's a simple matter of knowing which file/files to copy/backup -- I do it all the time.

Your Yahoo and Hotmail however, are web-based solution and copy/backup doesn't
work when initiated from your system with a target of the web-server.

You need to install a POP3 client on your PC, and then google for a plugin for
accessing your Yahoo / Hotmail accounts. Then you will just access the account(s)
and have a copy on both the web-based server and your PC

I'm on a new laptop running Windows 8 Pro, and I'm running into permission issues. I just created an icon (using Axialis Icon workshop), and tried to save it to a folder which I myself created. But I got this message:

C:\Program Files\Icons\IN-USE\GS.ico
You don?t have permission to save in this location.
Contact the administrator to obtain permission.

Would you like to save in the My Pictures folder instead?

No, I wouldn't like to save in My Pictures. I never use it. How can I get permission to save to the folder I want? I'm a sole user; I'm a member of administrators; I've tried (unsuccessfully so far) to give myself permission to run all programs without being nagged.

I suspect that taking ownership of the C:\Program Files might do the trick, but it seems like an extreme measure. Should I simply follow the steps in Brink's tutorial 'How to Allow or Deny Access Permisions to Users and Groups in Windows 8'?

Thanks

Mary

A:How do I save to folders without permissions messages?

For security reasons, Windows does not allow normal user accounts to write to Program Files. This prevents many malware type applications from being able to take control over system files and applications. It's just not a good idea to store things in this subfolder, unless you are installing an application.

You should instead, save your icons to your user folder. Creat an Icons folder under C:\Users\(your user name)\Icons

Everything under this folder is writeable by you, and it will get indexed by the search service as well as backed up if you do backups.

If you work with the OS, and store your files in the places that that are designed for you to store them, then you will have a lot fewer problems than if you fight it. You have to remember that the OS is trying to both create a secure environment that does not allow malware to do things, and allow you the freedom to do what you need to do.

My messages older than a year or so get deleted from gmail. Also gmail keeps threatening that my mail is about full and will stop working. Yet I still need to access my email from any computer.

I need for my mail to go to a safe place. Is there such a thing as an outlook email server I can access from many Windows computers?

Or could I have Outlook or Thunderbird on my one office machine, and have my gmail messages constantly downloaded to this one machine?

I'm really desperate for a solution. Thanks for any help. I would also really love to have the features Eudora had, but still be able to access email from any of my several machines. I have a site license to Outlook and Thunderbird is free but I don't know if these are solutions. I would like to keep my gmail address but that can change if needed. I'd like to use Gmail as an IMAC server, like I used our company mail server as IMAC with Eudora. I'd have IMAC delete read email after 1 month, in which time it would populate to all my computers.

I also need to synch with my Android phone.

Good afternoon,
I need to find a way to store a copy of emails in a new record within an access database. I currently have a form setup within Access that allows the user to create an email in access, saves the information to a record and then opens the email message in outlook. However, in some cases, such as replying to an email received in outlook, the user will need to be able to create the message in outlook, and upon sending, save the message to the recordset in Access. To make it even more complicated, I would like the user to be able to choose whether to save the email to the table, as only some emails will be applicable.

I can provide any additional information you need to help you help me find a solution.

My question involves saving email messages from a web-based email program.

A little background: My primary email account has been with a local internet service provider for many years and I have many messages filed in email folders. The provider recently had to disable my account (and about 10 other customers) because a spammer/hacker has had access to these accounts. I can still log into the account, see all my messages and new messages keep coming in, but I can't send any out. Until I have time to sort through all my messages, save the ones I wish to keep, and then notify all my contacts of my new gmail address, etc., the account will continue to be disabled and will eventually be terminated.

Question: Is there any way to save all these messages without printing them off? I heard that you could do this in either Outlook or Thunderbird. I don't have Outlook but downloaded Thunderbird but I don't know what to do and my ISP wasn't sure what to do either. Of course, it would be easier to just forward them to my gmail account, but remember, I can't send anything out.

If anyone could tell me how to use Thunderbird to do this or if it's even possible, or some other way, I'd really appreciate it.
This forum has been of great help to me in the past and I hope to find a solution to this problem. Thank you.

Using Thunderbird 3.1. Don't care about leaving msgs on an IMAP server for long time. Looking for automated (or easiest) way from T-bird client to save select msgs locally, then delete those same msgs ONLY from the IMAP server.

May be a more automated way of doing this than method below??
Would I have to manually save a copy of a select msg to a SEPARATE local (sub)? folder (or where ever), before deleting it from my local inbox, or else it will del both locally & from server?

Attached screen shows IMAP folders (test) set up in T-bird.

From this Mozilla article IMAP Synchronization

if I understand it, in Thunderbird 3, in Account Settings > Synchronization & Storage:

1) CHECKING "keep messages for this acct on this computer" will d/l a copy of the msgs from (say Gmail, or ANY) & store them in local folders AND leave copies on server (until deleted)?

2) If "Synchronize all msgs locally regardless or age," AND "Don't delete any messages," are checked,
then if I delete a msg locally, it will del from server also.

This is not specifically about Gmail. I only have occasional use for features of IMAP. Some webmail providers don't support POP - esp for TB 3.

Thanks.

Hi all

Just a stupid little problem with W7 I noticed which is VERY confusing but simple to fix.

I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.

With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing.

The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.

Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.

on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.

I couldn't find the answer by googling but a bit of "trial and Error" fixed the problem.

Sorry if this isn't the right category. Is there a way in Word to flip letters of a mispelled word. Example, "thier," flipping the i and e. I remember being able to do it in some program, but that was umpteen years ago and probably not a Microsoft product.

A:Spelling Errors in Word

I don't quite understand your question, but this'll probably work for you:

If you keep typing beleive instead of believe, you can hit Tools-Autocorrect and on the Autocorrect tab, make an entry that replaces "beleive" with "believe". It'll automatically fix that for you.

If the word is a real word both ways, then do a find/replace (ctrl-h) and type the wrong word in the Find box and the right word in the Replace box. Hit Find, let it find it and decide whether you want to replace or skip that instance until you've checked all instances of that word.

I'm not sure how swapping the i/e would be any easier than either of those tools.

I don't know if anyone can help as I can't get my computer to bring up the error message it originally showed! I am very much a beginner, in other words I don't have much of a clue about these things.

My spelling and grammar check has stopped working. First there was an error message but now when I click on button it just says selling and grammar check complete and I know it isn't because there are spelling mistakes.

I have windows XP, this probably isn't enough info? If anyone has any ideas please spell it out simply!

Thanks.

A:No spelling or grammar check

This problem can be because of a file going bad or being changed. reinstall the program you are using to spell check.

A bit ago, I had a freeze and did a ctrl-alt-del and restart. During the restart, a message appeared that "Dummy Winidows" was not responding and did I want to terminate the program. I did.

The misspelling struck me as strange, so I ran SpyBot and CenturyLink's PC Health checkup. Neither reported a virus, but I remain suspicious. My startup seems very, very slow, particularly the loading of my IP connection.

Can someone enlighten me? IS this a virus, and is there a manual way to remove it if it is?

Thanks, GardenLadyToo

A:Dummy Winidows? (their spelling)

I found the problem. The same thing happens when you remove Windows Media Player as when you remove Cyber-whateveritis player. It also misplaces your CD-ROM player.

Put back Media Player and re-assigned CD-ROM as Drive E. All is well now

Sorry if this is a daft question but I am trying to change permissions for a folder Windows 7 will not let me delete and I am stuck because when I enter the file name and path in regedit Windows refuses to accept it due to the spelling. My spelling is M:/EXCEL/OLD FILES PIANO PUPILS. I have tried altering it several times.
Driving me crazy. What am I missing please ?

I've just had a new PC and upgraded to XP Pro at the same time. When I come to sending a mail my spelling checker is greyed out in Outlook Express.

Checking in the help file it says the spelling checker only works if MS Word, Powerpoint or Excel is installed, I'm running all three but the spelling checker is still greyed out.

Can anyone help or offer any advice please?

Regards....Mike
