Trying to locate what gpo is controlling site to zone assignment list

Q: Trying to locate what gpo is controlling site to zone assignment list

I am trying to locate which gpo is controlling our site zone assignment list.
My expected outcome for this task is to add a site to our trusted zones for IE 11 on Windows 7 Ent.
I've checked rsop.msc and checked the same exact location that we have our Windows 10 gpo's, but it is not there. I am not sure what is controlling the Windows 7 gpo for our trusted zones.
I've also did a search within the gpo's looking for Computer Configuration containing Internet Explorer Zonemapping.
Is there anything else that I can check to try and locate where this gpo is coming from?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So, we're attempting to use the Site to Zone Assignment List, but are running into the following error when Group Policy is updated:

Windows failed to apply the Internet Explorer Zonemapping settings.

Here are the only patterns we're currently using within our S2Z list...

Does anyone know if any of these four patterns would be causing the issue?

 Hi experts,
I have a following problem - I am using the Site to Zone Assignment List GPO to assign the local site to trusted sites in order to enable automatic logon. Now when I open the URL in IE11 it works just fine - when I click on Sign In on
the portal it reloads and the user is signed in. When I verify the zone via File -> Properties menu I see, that the site is assigned to the "Trusted Sites" zone. doing the same on the same computer with the same user on Microsoft Edge doesn't
work - it asks for credentials. Now:
 - What is the potential reason for this? I also configured the "Do not sync browser settings" GPO to Disabled and I see it is applied properly
 - Where can I verify in Edge which zone has been assigned to the particular URL (that's a must for troubleshooting this problem)
Thank you in advance for any hints

(NOTE:  Links open in a new tab.)
In the TechNet article
here I see reference to a schema v.2 for the EMIE tool. It will apparently spit out the xml using the new version 2 of the schema. But the download link only goes to downloads for Win7/8 (schema v.1), and I cannot find any reference to where I can obtain
the Windows 10 version.
For example,
this article specifically references a Windows 10 version, where
this one references Windows 7 and 8.  Finding the Windows 10 version has proven impossible so far.
We have several sites which need to be opened in IE instead of Edge, and using our old Enterprise Mode site list is not working on our Windows 10 clients.
Current site list example:
<rules version="4">
          <domain exclude="false">www.contoso.com</domain>

Reading about the
v.2 schema leads me to think that the output from the tool is incorrect.  The documentation suggests that the output for Windows 10 should be:

<site-list version="205">
  <site url="www.contoso.com">

Or am I missing something here?

Try repairing Office.

This ought to repair these file associations:

Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .

In Control Panel , double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

In the list of installed programs, click to select either Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Office , depending on how you installed Outlook.

Click Add/Remove .

After the setup screen appears, click Repair Office .

Click Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation , and then click Install .

Since it seems people have been having problems with this, what I did was opened WML and entered each email address individually. But when i went to look for contact list on C: drive, still cant find the contact list for the ones I entered. I had tried all the other options I read about, but no luck. So what do I have to do?
Thank you.

A:Where can I locate Windows live mail contact list?

Hello Tazny, and welcome to Seven Forums.

WLM does not store it's contacts in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Contacts folder like Windows Mail in Vista did. Instead, you should be able to open and view them by clicking on Contacts as in the screenshot below.

Hope this helps,

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me out with a slight problem and I am posting the correct forum!

Ok we have Windows 7 laptops runing IE8, all controlled with Group Policy and a Site to Zone Assignment list to control IE traffic. We also use SharePoint, and all SharePoint entries are in the S2Z list as Intranet Sites (1) and we have external access from any outside connection to these sites, so you can log on to your home PC and access https://++++++++.++++++++++.org and then sign in with your AD credentials.

The issue is that any of our company Win7 laptops try to access this URL with IE8 while on an external network they get page cannot be displayed, and any other Browser or non work laptop it works OK. Seems obvious as the GP that was last applied to the laptop set this URL as 1 (intranet Site) and when trying to load off the LAN it is 3 (internet Site).

I have been advised that as the FQDN for the URL is being applied by GP, it should still pick this up when off line and recognize as a safe site and load ? is this true? Any help please?

A:Site to Zone

While I am not positive, I'm fairly sure you are correct.

GP is pushing the internal site name to the corporate win7 PCs and when these laptops are outside they probably need to manually add the site as it is supposed to be "from the outside"

You should be able to add the outside address to AD and it will propagate out the next time these machines connect.

Obviously test this on your laptop first.

A:Restricted Site Zone ???

Hi again, Joe!

Since no one else is running with this Q, I thought I'd put my two cents' worth in.

The Restricted Sites Zone in Outlook Express limits what ActiveX controls and scripting languages can do in an HTML-formatted message. This makes you safer, as it keeps the lid at least a little tighter on the danger you're exposed to from malicious email.

There is almost no reason for a legitimate message to come to you bearing ActiveX controls OR scripting that you can't live without. Most of those "extras" (from legit sources) would be designed to either track you opening the message, or serve you up more ads. You don't need either one.

I leave my option set to Restricted, and have never had a problem opening a message. In fact, I wish Outlook Express had a setting where I could limit things even more by preventing an HTML-formatted message from accessing the net, period.

Zone Alarm gives you the ability to keep a list of all the hosts/ips/domains you want to block, but I dont see the ability to save this list.

Im wondering if there is a way to share the list and get an "uber" list compiled of all the major offenders out there (doubleclick, adtracker, etc) and use it? I like to block any and all banner ads/pop up ads, and nasty cookies I come across, and my list is pretty long right now. This would seem like handy information wouldnt it?

We are using Group Policy to issue an XML file with a list of sites for IE 11 to load in Enterprise mode.  We added our payroll company site because they were not compatible with IE 11, now they are ONLY compatible with IE 11.  I removed their
URL from the XML list over a week ago, but all company computers are still loading it in Enterprise mode.  I can have everyone turn it off manually, but the problem is they use so many subdomains that everyone would have to do it numerous times.  Why
is that happening?  I need to force this site and its subdomains to NOT load in Enterprise Mode.  It seems that when the URL was removed from the XML list it no longer forced it, but it also did not remove that setting.

A:Removing a site from Enterprise Model XML list for IE 11 does not disable enterprise mode for that site

No event error doesn't indicate the policy is applied fine. If the new configuration didn't work, the most probably reason was the group policy was not applied.
You could rest your Internet Explorer 11 and then restart the compute to check the result.
If it still doesn't work, run "gpresult /h gpreport.html" command to saves the report in HTML format with the file name "gpreport.html" at C:\Windows\System32\ directory.
Open this file to check if this group policy was applied successfully. Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help, and unmark the answers if they provide no help. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact [email protected]

Have there been any changes to IE that allow us to force an Enterprise Mode site list update without having to actually launch IE, wait up to 65 second, and then close/relaunch IE? We're running IE11 with Enterprise Mode on our Citrix VDIs (Win10 1703),
and this one issue is a major concern. I know that I can launch IE in the background as part of a logon script to accomplish this, but that's detrimental to the logon performance, so I'd like to avoid going down that road.
At this point, I would even settle for an accurate list of all
files and registry keys used by IEEM (outside of the two standard keys enabling it with the site list path and the site list version). I've been trying to exclude folders and registry keys in Citrix Profile Manager, but have had no luck. The initial launch
of IE, which goes to our Citrix Web site, never starts up in Enterprise Mode. We have to wait and then close/relaunch.

I have a small question / issue when using Enterprise Mode.
We have enabled it using GPO by specifying both a site list and the Enable settings for manual override. This works fine but I don't know how to reset the manual override if somebody flicks the EM mode for a specific site.

I just want to tell IE to forget all manual overrides and apply the sitelist as delivered.
I tried to look in the registry, in the %AppData% fodler, even cleared the IE cache but IE still remembers the user overrides.
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thanks, Nic.

A:Enterprise Mode site list and manual override

Hi Nic,
As the official documents said, this registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\EnterpriseMode] ?Enable? = ?? | {URL:port} can also be used to collect manual overrides. By configuring the ?Enable? key with a
valid URL and port, Internet Explorer will initiate a simple POST to the supplied address whenever a user enables or disables Enterprise Mode. This effectively helps customers crowd-source lists of compatible Web apps from their own users, which may decrease
triage and testing costs.
Approximately 65 seconds after Internet Explorer 11 starts, it looks for a properly formatted site list. If a new site list is found, with a different version number than the active list, Internet Explorer 11 loads and uses the newer version.

This is designed by default, and we cannot reset the by preventing the changes.

We may try to logon script to re-deploy the original site list to reset the site list settings.

The only odd result I can recall was W32.Small.ddx in the most recent scans ( found by Spybot, I think ).The current problem started a couple of days back when I was surprised to be taken to a different site when I clicked on a link in a list of results from a Google search ( as it happened, looking for reasons the computer was running slower than usual ).Thanks for any ideas to resolve this,John Williams.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 2:22:37 pm, on 27/10/06Platform: Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A)MSIE: Internet Explorer v5.51 SP2 (5.51.4807.2300)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KERNEL32.DLLC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mmtask.tskC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSTASK.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KB891711\KB891711.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SSDPSRV.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KB918547\KB918547.EXEC:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSTRAY.EXEC:\WINDOWS\TPPALDR.EXEC:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXEC:\PROGRAM FILES\GRISOFT\AVG FREE\AVGCC.EXEC:\PROGRAM FILES\GRISOFT\AVG FREE\AVGEMC.EXEC:\PROGRA...
