I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Laptop is a Samsung R510 running Vista.

When it is switched on, it gets stuck on the Samsung BIOS load screen. The F2 (Setup) and F4 (Recovery) buttons don't work unless they are pressed straight away. But when they are pressed it says 'Please Wait', but nothing happens.

I have changed the CMOS battery, but it hasn't helped.

I have also taken the hard drive out and turned it on, still the same.  Each RAM stick has been tried on its own, and it is still the same.

Can anyone help?

Well been at this dammed laptop for over 4 hours and i have had enough of it, thought i would join a forum to see if someone can help before i launch it out my window

I have a Packard Bell easynote that will not go past the boot screen at all, the only things i can get into are bios and quick select for the order of start up.

I have tried to change the bios to boot up cd-dvd first and tried both recovery and clean installs of windows, what happens when i do that is it comes up windows is loading files then microsoft cooperation comes up with the little bar but that is as far as it goes, the disk stops spinning and the whole laptop goes quiete, i have left it like this for over an hour to no avail.

My heads spinning with this junk as it was working till 2 weeks ago, i do know now that there was a partion in it because when it was working it was coming up to select what windows vista i wanted to run but that never ever seemed to affect it, If anyone has any ideas i would be very thankful to try them.

Thanks people and if there is more info you need let me know

Hi I really hope someone can help me!

I have a fujitsu lifebook with windows 7 on it
I had an error message pop up when i tried to click on google chrome this morning, so I closed it and attempted to re-start my laptop, then AVG pops up telling me I have a virus so I allowed it to "clear" said virus. I then restarted my laptop and it would not go to the login page.

I attempted system repair to no avail, I then allowed chkdsk to run and there were a lot of "security ID repairs", I have also tried f12 and booting from my windows 7 installation disk. Non of these options have worked

I get the fujitsu screen, then the windows loading screen then instead of the log in screen which would be next, I get a black screen with the cursor visable and you can move the cursor but nothing else works and no keyboard shortcuts work

someone please help.
I've been told to restore the OS but i cannot afford to lose all the files on my laptop

A:Laptop wont load past windows page, stuck with black screen and cursor

Since AVG 'cleaned' a virus - all bets r off as the problem could be a leftover from the virus. apparently, a (some) system files r damaged. Going forward, u might not want to run normally as an admin user. That helps keep malware from invisibly installing if the AV does not catch it. 1. have u tried booting to safe mode? If u can get there try this clk Start - type CMD -- rt clk cmd.exe and select Run as Admin when the dos window opens type 'sfc /scannow' let it run retry boot when done. 2. If u can't get there or that doesn't work put ur windows CD in and boot to that. Run the repair install - or it might be called upgrade. Just do NOT do a CLEAN install. That will not erase any of your data. 3. If that does not work If u get a Hiren's boot disk, or something similar. U can boot to that and most likely copy ur data from the drive prior to doing a clean install. This assumes the drive isn't corrupt which appears to be true since it gets to the Windows screen. 4. If not u will have to remove the drive and connect it to another computer as an external HDD to copy the data. 5. If none of the above works - u have come to the complete understanding of the word BACKUP................ good luck

I've been trying to fix my moss laptop and need help. I went home to visit and she said her computer has been really slot and that she thought she may have a virus. So I got norton 2009 (it wouldn't let me download anything) and needless to say eventurally got it working again well the main virus as taken off however lots of spamware was on her computer. Norton was able to install but I couldn't get it to download the last updates then it wouldn't even start. I went though their section about what to do if it doesn't open and did everything it asked.

The final step it asked was to go to msconfig and click startup and check start up in safe mode. I did and the computer restarted in safe mode. HOWEVER it got an error message and now it won't load up. There is a problem running in safe mode. It did the blue screen but went away before I could read it and then goes back to choose which type of safe mode (regular safe mode, safe mode with networking, or anothe safe mode).

Is there a way to bypass and get a c prompt and run windows that way? So I can change the box in msconfig back to run regular so I can finsh removing the problems with her computer.

Okay. I'm also getting stuck at the Windows XP Loading screen. My safemode doesn't work for whatever reason. I've reinstalled Windows trying to get it to work, but it stops on one of the drivers, sits there, and locks up. So I'm on the family computer typing this.

I DO have my Windows Professional CD, but there's nothing I can really do. I want reinstalling windows to be a LAST resort, since I had to do that like....not even 2 weeks ago...but the more I think about it, I don't really have much choice.

The only choice I see available in Windows XP Setup is Recovery. All that does is bring me to a command prompt screen. Choose which installation of Windows. Login. Then it just sits there as C:\Windows\ and I don't know what commands to use (out of the HELP list).

I did use FIXBOOT. I figured why not. Didn't really help.

I think what caused it is when I updated to Service Pack 2.

A friend asked me to look at their Acer laptop since it was acting up. It was riddled with viruses so I did a system restore. It is now stuck on a loop saying that Windows could not finish installation. Please restart to finish. I've restarted it several times and am still getting this message. I've used the system restore on several other computers and laptops and have not had this problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

A:Windows will not load - Stuck in a loop

Are you referring to Acer full Factory Recovery? If it fails your options if run from disks are to run it instead from boot by triggering the Recovery Partition, or vice versa: Acer Support: Recovery media and Restoring a system to factory load

If you have no disks and running Recovery partiiton has failed, then you'll either need to order Disks from Acer or find a Win7 installation DVD for Clean Reinstalling Windows 7 with Product Key on COA sticker.

Hey everybody, I'm a new user here..I hope you can help me out with this problem...

Here's a quick breakdown of my problem:

1. Laptop Model is Toshiba L305-S5955

2. Problem occured about yesterday. No new software/drivers installed.

3. Turned off computer properly before I went to sleep. The following morning, it loaded to the desktop, but at after a few seconds, everything hanged, only mouse works, "busy" indicator of laptop does not light up. Restarted again, last known good configuration, same thing.

4. Restarted to Safe mode, it works fine. Attempted to reduce msconfig startup options.

5. Vista boots into desktop and hang seems to have disappeared. Successfully surfed the internet. Unfortunately, when a memory intensive program, like Adobe Audition was loaded, it would hang again. Restarted, was able to successfully boot to desktop and surf net again, but after loading Windows Media Player it hanged again.

6. Restarted and used Smart Defrag to Defragment files. Error occurs in Normal Mode, so restarted to Safe mode to defragment files.

7. Vista boots with a few errors, and says Configfree, Toshiba this Toshiba that has stopped working. Restarted due to these errors.

8. After restart, desktop no longer just hangs, ends with a blue screen instead. Same with safe mode. Either of two things happen in either mode - desktop hangs and leads to blue screen, or desktop icons disappear as well as taskbar leaving only mouse.

9. Restart... Read more

The installing windows went to 66% then would jump to 86% and sometimes jump to 99% then reboot and go back to 66% and it kept randomly rebooting and it did that for 15+ hours. So i tried to using command prompt to fix it while on the same install screen. In cmmd prompt i typed in
bcdedit /set {current} safeboot network and hit enter but nothing changed & then my computer once again went to reboot but this time instead of loading the windows install screen it would load up my computer then go to a black screen, then back and forth. I have just switched all of my data over from windows XP to a new computer with this operating system only to realize that I will not be able to use the extra (16GB) of memory I just purchased.

Am I stuck with the 2.89 GB usable unless I load windows 7 64 bit system?

It was really dificult for me to get everything transfered over to my new computer especially all of my outlook stuff (rules, files, etc.)

Would I be able to back everything up, and just transfer it to the new windows 7 64 bit system installation?

Any help is greatly appreciated..

Ok guys, brief intro of issue: This was a fairly new installed OS, running 100% and fast. Left my pc on, went to log back in at logon, wouldnt respond to any input at lock screen, mouse moved as normal, but would not show the enter pin box. Would not respond to any click, alt-ctrl-del, or pushing power button. So I had to force reset via button. Upon booting up the system would stay at the loading screen, with windows logo and animated circle dots. I've let it sit for 50 minutes before I gave up on that, disk activity light on tower stays pinged.

Here's what I've tried thus far:
Safe mode, no. All other boot options in safemode menu, no.
Auto startup repair, says repairing but will just go on forever like the windows loading screen.
Restore, yes, says it finished successfully, but will not load just as before.
I tried fixboot and fixmbr, nothing.
Chkdsk, nothing came back bad.

I then went into my second windows 10 install on another drive in my system, Boots up completely fine.
While there, I did numerous sfc /scannow and dism restore on my other OS install remotely. All come back perfectly fine.

So, this leaves me pretty much clueless. Numerous google searches and threads I've read, so far has gotten me nowhere. I DO want to avoid doing a reinstall of my OS if possible. Repair install seems out of the question because I cannot get into safemode or into my OS to initiate that. So....

Here's my log from auto system restore for starters:

Just saw Post #2 in the link below for getting into safe mode. If that is successful perhaps you can do a system restore or refresh.

Coworker's computer: Everex GA3400, 2.2GHz, 4G RAM, 100G HD, XP Home, recovery disk, recovery partition.
Issue: XP boots to a certain point then reboots, process repeats. Happens in normal mode and all safe modes. Last file listed in Safe Mode boot is DiskFilter.sys

Backup made of his desktop and My Documents. Hiren's boot CD loads Mini XP slowly and a few CRC errors during some program extractions but file operations work OK after loading. System is stable.
There is a recovery partition which is accessable with Hiren's. When I attempt to use the recovery process from bootup, the system hangs while performing a system check.
1. Is there a log file I can view for more information?
2. Does this sound like an MBR issue? If so, possible to use hidden recovery partition to repair boot partition?
3. Any other ideas? I know there could be a million reasons.

Hello. Imagine Windows XP without the taskbar or any folders, just the desktop wallpaper. That's what it looks like when I log into my XP account. I can use applications through task manager however. Very weird. Right now, I am using firefox to post on this forum. I opened firefox through task manager.

What is the problem here? Can someone please help? Thank you

p.s. I've had problems with adware/malware recently.

A:XP refuses to load. Stuck with desktop wallpaper.

Might try going to a restart and by tapping f8 upon re start you will go into the safe mode. from there try a system restore to a point before this problem happened

Used to have win 7, upgraded to 10 a couple weeks ago.

Randomly yesterday the computer turned off. I turned it back on and it said it shut down incorrectly and it was going to go through the repair process. It kept going through a loop and would never complete that process. It gave me some other options such as system restore which I tried but it could not find any restore points. Then I tried another option which was the last viable one, unfortunately I don't recall what it was, but I remember it implied to me that it would be rolling back my operating system to Windows 7 instead of 10, 7 being my previous OS.
I let this run over night and I came back to it in the morning and it was still sitting there. I turned the computer off and then back on and it automatically went back into that process.

I am unsure if my hard drive is faulty or if the OS is corrupted or something.

Can I do something in BIOS to bypass this and get into windows? Should I reinstall windows on this harddrive, or buy a new one?

Thankyou for any feedback and information.

I found the previous post by Nightmare but currently I can't move the HDD to another machine. Is there any way around this error without transferring the HDD?

I have recently installed BETA nvidia graphics drivers in an attempt to speed up my video games, during the latest install, the computer froze, and shut down. I attempted to reboot the computer, but the windows 7 loading screen was all that was showing. I am posting this in safe mode, as i have tried everything in my knowledge to fix this, to no avail. I do not want to format my PC until all options are used. Please help, thank you in advance.(i have another PC with windows xp which can be used for downloading and installing any necessary software).

A:Windows 7 stuck on load screen after driver install

Hi Alden H,

First, please post your computer specs. Posting computer specs definitely helps troubleshoot computer issues more efficiently. Since you are able to boot the computer in safe mode, try un-installing the BETA Nvidia videocard drivers that you installed. Another thing you can do is to go to device manager, un-install the videocard from display adapters and then reboot the computer. Hope everything works out well for you.

Hi everyoneMy laptop is a HP Pavilion 15-p077sa.When I start it up it starts black then after a while it will go into preparing automatic repair and will have a spinny circle. After a minute after that it goes back to the black screen. Before this all the laptop would come up with a CMOS reset 502 error.Ive bought a recovery disc to try and get me out of the issue but I can't start the bios.No matter what button I press, escape, f1, f2, f10 ,f8,f12, I can't get the boot menu to start up so I am stuck! My CMOS needs replacing as the date has been dodgy but it went back to normal but right before it broke it thought it was 4am when it was midday.I want to replace the CMOS myself as I've found out that it is just a normal battery however getting to the on this laptop is really difficult and I don't have non conductive tools or the expertise. Is it possible for me to use the windows recovery disc in this situation and for it to temporarily work in the mean time before I get the the battery replaced?I hope someone can help. I am this close to replacing the battery myself as I can't afford taking it in for repair

Hi,

Just a few hours ago, my daughter was playing a pc game, it froze, so she went to restart..she clicked Start and then on Restart. The computer restarted. Well, the computer keeps landing on that black screen saying Windows did not shut down properly. I have tried to restart the computer in all three Safe Modes, Last good configuration etc... it restarts and then comes back to that black page saying Windows has been shut down improperly. Windows will not load at all.

I tried searching for this topic already and I didn't see one that was like this, so I hope I am not asking a repeat question. The operating system is Windows XP Professional.

Thanks

A:Computer Is Stuck At Restart Window/ Windows Won't Load

Hi, I seem to have a similar problem, although a bit more complicated. It also happened when playing a game, it happened to me on-line though. Was she playing on-line as well? Look into my topic to see if any responses I've received may apply to you.

My brother's computer that I built for him a year ago recently started acting up. It now will not progress past the Windows XP loading screen with the blue loading bar. If I try to boot it in safe mode, when all the drivers are listed on the screen (which I assume are the ones being loaded) it stops with "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys" being the last listing shown. So I need a way to make it boot somehow or figure out what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

P.S. I tried booting with no USB devices plugged in (a suggestion I saw on another post) but to no avail

A:Stuck at XP load screen, stops during driver loading

This sounds like you have a corrupt file in your hard drive.

Check out your bios setup to make sure everything is ok.

Reboot your computer with an XP installation CD, then open the recovery console. Run Chkdsk/p then try to reboot. If that doesn't work then try Chkdsk/r.

Also, check your Ram.

Good Luck

I purchased a new computer a little over a week ago, and installed a new copy of Vista on a new hard drive. Ever since, I've been having nothing but problems trying to get Vista to actually work and run stable. The system will usually run great for a day or two, then I'll get all these random errors out of nowhere, taking forever to start up, being stuck on "Configuring Update" screens, countless blue screen errors, or start up errors (corrupt files, failed to shut down, etc). I've had my system restore points dissapear. When I'd run Vista disk to do a start up repair, my HD would no longer show up as it use to before. Basically, I've reformatted and reinstalled Vista 4 times. I came across a fix for the "Configuring Updates" problem, which was the first problem I came across. Now, every time I reformat Vista, I make sure to turn Automatic Updates to inform me when I need updates, but not to download/update it automatically, I'll just do it manually. However, one fix leads to another problem, and I'm really at a loss on what to do.

I just reformatted for the 4th time yesterday. A clean install, installed my motherboard and videocard drivers, downloaded and installed SP1 (I came across a couple of blue screen errors supposedly, I wasn't around when they happened, just saw a box telling me they occured). I have Automatic Update turned to inform me, but not to automatically download and install updates. I installed Avast antivirus, Ad Aware, a PC videogame, ... Read more

A:Vista wont load (stuck on black screen)

Bump. I guess I'm just going to end up reformatting again, I don't know what to do. Trying to access anything else (regular start up, safe mode start up, vista disk system repair, etc) all just seem to get stuck on a black screen or take forever, and as I said, I really have no idea if the computer is actually doing anything, or if it's just stuck. Is there a guide I should be looking for, to give me any ideas of how to run a stable Vista? If I reformat this again, everything will be fine and dandy for a day or two, then the problems will start rolling in. I don't know how to prepare for or combat this.

It gets stuck on the HP loading screen and then resets and repeats.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have windows 7 64 bit. I left my computer on over the weekend (was running a mine craft server from it) and I left to go on a trip. Sometime that night the server went offline. When came back today, I found m computer at the windows 7 recovery manager.

I have no clue what happened, my computer hasn't been acting up at all. I first tried a boot repair, and it didn't find any problems. I restarted it and a chkhd ran and it said that disks needed to be checked for consistency. I let it perform this and it began to "replacing invalid security id with default security id file xxxx." it finished but still got stuck on the black screen after windows loaded. I ran a memory scan and it finished without detecting any problems.

This black screen with cursor happens if I try to run in normally or also in any safe mode, so basically I can't do anything. I do not have any system restore points, there is no factory restore option (it's a gateway), and I do not have a windows 7 cd. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? I've searched extensively and can't find any solutions. Thank you for any help, I'm kinda desperate. I really need my pc this week.

Also worth noting, I can not ctrl+alt+del at the black screen.

Hello,

I'm having download problems with IE and Firefox where a download will start and then get stuck at a specific percentage. Sometimes the download won't even start. But if I keep trying over and over, one will finally go through.

1) When I go to Youtube.com or Metacafe, the movies stop loading part way through.

2) When I'm just normally downloading a program from download.com, it'll get stuck.

3) When I load a large image, from dpreview.com for example, it'll stop loading part way through as well.

I believe this problem surfaced right after I installed Kaspersky 6.0, but I installed Kaspersky on another computer and that one isn't affected. I tried disabling and then completely shutting down Kaspersky and downloading and the problem still occurs.

Another reason might be my TCP/IP packet size settings have been changed or something along those lines. Maybe the MTU size needs to be changed?

I've had this problem a long time ago, and I solved it with a reformat. I don't want to do that this time.

I don't have any spyware/adware or viruses on my computer. I've done a full scan with Kaspersky 6.0, Spybot (latest, with latest defs), Adaware and Registry Mechanic.
I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

Within the past week, my computer kept randomly rebooting, and eventually stopped turning on at all, so I bought a new PSU, and now it boots, but only to the POST screen, I try to press F2 to load the BIOS, but it does nothing. I also tried changing the jumper to boot into the BIOS setup, but it still stuck on the POST screen, but says "setup loading" instead of "press <F2> to enter BIOS setup" I am completely lost and have swapped out and checked the PSU, RAM, GPU and CPU. I am afraid it is a motherboard or HDD problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help!

(Also, there are no beep errors, of course! >_< )

A:Computer won't load BIOS! Stuck at POST screen! I am clueless ;(

Most probably, this is a HDD issue....Try this to verify:

- Take out the HDD IDE cable
- Switch on the PC..keep hitting DEL till it takes you the BIOS Stup screen...

If you can reach the BIOS Setup, it most prolly is a HDD issue....
Jyust to verify, you may want to try booting from aCD ROM if the above works

I'm running vista on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc with all factory stuff.

My problem started the other day between my 3 year old and I, she I assume locked the keyboard and I tried the command prompts to unlock it. After failing to unlock the keyboard I did a restart and the system won't come back! I've recently acquired a boot disk that doesn't have the windows operating system on it just the fix it portion. After running the boot disk I am stuck with only being able to use the command prompt option having no restore points on my system.

I've tried several codes I found in another question but my c drive is comng up as a removable drive with x being my main and all the codes require c drive - after trying unsuccessfully to simply type the codes with x instead of c I am having no luck. I typed the codes in I get an error that the parameter is incorrect (0x80070057) and asked to close system restore.

It's not looking good I admit but I can not afford to buy a new system such as windows 7 or a new computer and would really hope that I can get them photos on my hard drive some how..

A:Solved: Stuck in a diagnostic state and can't get restore or windows to load.

Use the F11 key when booting up and select 'factory restore' or similar command, this will delete all your personal data but you will get your computer back.

Hey everybody. A little while ago, I updated my Dell XPS M1530 laptop NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics card and the next day, the display was all blue with horizontal lines going through it. There was sound, but that's all what I was seeing. I turned it on and off again and again but to no avail. I left it on for a while and then suddenly the display cleared up and the Start up repair screen was on and it stayed that way for 12 hours so I turned it off and then on again( bear with me here lol). The BIOS screen appeared so did the OS loading screen later but that was about it. The screen was black. Safe mode wont work, it always stops at
:\Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys

System restore wont work also, it just freezes, Startup repair apparently freezes too, it keeps loading for 12 hours with no change. Im reallly confused and I don't know what to do. Im trying to avoid using the Factory Image Restore since I have so many important files that I dont want to delete. I really appreaciate any help over here guys. Thanks =)

Hello, I recently started getting a black screen when trying to turn on my laptop, a Sony Vaio running Windows 10. I am unable to download the DM log collector tool since I cannot use my computer at all. It stays on the black screen even if I let it sit for hours. It's possible that I backed up a Windows 10 file when originally upgrading from WIN7 but I'm not sure and if so, it would be on an external hard drive. What can I do? Please help. Thank you so much.
