Trying to share mobile connection to xbox, error 0x80004005

Q: Trying to share mobile connection to xbox, error 0x80004005

I'm so tired of this error that I could I throw my computer down the window. So the thing is I'm trying to share my mobile connection from my computer to my xbox (which has worked before without any problems) but now when I click on properties on my mobile connection on the share tab to check the "allow sharing" box this error: 0x80004005 along with "undefined error" comes up.

Which seems unsolvable, think I've turned google inside out trying to find an solution. I've only found guys that got the exact same problem, but doesn't get any helping answers.

Sorry for my English, computer terms are a bit tricky to translate from Swedish.

P.S to avoid any unnecessary discussion about how I could want to share mobile connection to the xbox when it's only going to lag, it will not, it works like a dream when it chooses to work..

Best regards

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Trying to share mobile connection to xbox, error 0x80004005

Check your connection box/modem, restart it, see if that works, if not, then check your xbox connection and your phone connection. If it still dosen't work, then i would consider asking a professional

Hi,

I would like to suggest you try the following steps to see what the result is:

1.
Disable the firewall temporarily for a test.
2.
 Try to disable IP v6.
How to disable IP version 6 (IPv6) or its specific components in Windows 7, in Windows Vista,
in Windows Server 2008 R2, and in Windows Server 2008
3.
disabled Requiresecuritysignature on Windows 2008 under lanmanserver:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters\Requiresecuritysignature registry value is set to 0,

and on Windows client under lanmanworkstation:

Hello.

I'm trying to connect my laptop running on vista to run Xbox Live wirelessly (it can already connect successfully to the internet).

They connect to each other, and i can share files between them, however, to run Xbox Live through the laptop, Internet Connection Sharing must be enabled (I'll refer to it as ICS).

Now for some reason my laptop does not want to allow internet conection sharing, when I try to set it, it loads for about 30 seconds, then comes up with an error message saying "An error occurred while internet connection sharing was being enabled.", AKA error 761, which is odd because after looking into it on the internet, it should also read sfter that sentence "The specified service does not exist as an installed service", although it does not.

I'd appriciate any help anyone can give me into enabling my laptop to run ICS so I can play on Xbox Live without forking out £60 for an adapter.

Much thanks,
Alex.

EDIT: I am posting this in the Vista forums because I dont have any problem when I try it on my main computer running on XP, so I thought it should be more specialised.

A:Vista Cannot Share Connection with Xbox 360

Was having the same problem on a friend's computer and eventually got it to work (maybe).
We disabled the wireless connection then shared it. Make sure the wired connection is enabled when you try this.
The reason I say maybe is because we have not had a chance to test it with the xbox yet (not at home with the laptop now).
I will repost when we test it.

My computer in my room is connected to the internet via Ethernet cable which leads all the way down to the lounge where our router is. I would like to connect my Xbox 360 in my room to the internet and still be able to use my computer as internet as well without having to unplug from one to the other. I would prefer a wired connection, however wouldnt really like to buy another 30ft long ethernet cable just to connect my xbox all the way downstairs to my router.
How can I share the internet?

A:How can I share my PC Internet connection with my Xbox 360?

Go wireless... Spend a little on a wireless router and a wireless NIC for your computer. The XBOX should have wireless capability already. Or, you could buy another wired router and set it up in your room. Attach it to the existing internet wire from the lounge and connect the XBOX and your computer to the new router

Hi um i've got the same or similar problem. When you bridge make sure that the network connection of the xbox and the internet are able to share internet.

This is done by going control panel/network and sharing centre/manage network connections then right clicking on the networks go into properties and there should be two tabs which are network and sharing at the top. Click on sharing and tick the box that enables internet sharing.

I'm not going to put visual prompts of it cause thats not my problem. My problem is i don't have that sharing tab and is otherwise virtually identical to the original post's friend's problem.

Hey guys,

Right need assisiatnce with my Network!

Now its a bit complicated,Ive tried to make it as understanding as i can so please bear with me

I currently have a Virgin media Modem (VMNG300) and a Wireles-N-Router (WNR2000) connected to each other.

The Ethernet cable runs across the room from my Router stright into the back of my Pc...all works great!

However...now that i have aquired an Xbox 360 id also like to connect that to my Network,But i want it wired,I dont want to buy one of microsofts overpriced Wireless things,The problem is my Pc and Xbox are the opposite side of the room from the Router/Modem so i cant connect them like that.

I only have one Ethernet cable runing up to my pc where the Pc and Xbox are located.

What do i need to be able to Split an Ethernet connection between the Pc and Xbox?...at the moment ive been having to unplug the ethernet cable from the pc and put it in the Xbox.

I was wondering,I have another spare Router...can it be used as a HUB/Switch to share one thernet connection between two devices?
The other model of the router i have is -Netgear Wireless-G-Router WGR614 v9.

Hi, I hope this is the right forum. My XP machine can't connect to my usb mobile broadband. I have LAN network but the usb mobile broadband (usb dongle) is my back-up connection, so i need it to work.Brief history: I was infected by a trojan/virus which affected my LAN connectivity (dhcp issue). A good advisor/mod from this forum helped me out. (here)Now during the time i still had the infection, the mobile broadband is working alright. A few days after my issue was resolved, i tried the mobile broadband again and found that it's not working. The error i get when trying to connect is: "A connection to the remote computer cannot be established."I've already done:- uninstall the software that came with the usb dongle- remove the 3g modem from device manager (and it reinstalled on reboot)- reinstall the software- disable any firewall- checked another PC with the same running setup to compare. Under Network Connections -> Dial-up, it has another device called "3G Connection" aside from the "Huawei 3G Mobile Broadband." Not sure if i need to add this and how.I might just need to re-enable some settings? Someone please help me. TIA to the good-hearted soul.

hello, i hope someone can help me as i have spent countless hours browsing the web and different forums for an answer, so i am finally posting somewhere hoping someone can help me directly.

i have a laptop connected to my neighbors xfinity wifi hotspot, using my uncles login information. i have a steady 4 bar connection and am able to access the internet, the connection is not the problem. i have an ethernet cable connecting my xbox and laptop and i am using Internet Connection Sharing to get access to xbox live, this works however i am losing connection ALOT and it is very frustrating trying to play multiplayer with my friends. i am guessing that ICS is not as reliable as Bridging the two connections.

i can successfully create the bridge and can still access the internet on the laptop, but cannot connect to xbox live. while running the test to connect i can get it to connect to the network by entering the information manualy, but then it fails to connect to the internet due to 'the dns servers cannot resolve xbox live server names'

please help and i will be happy to provide more information if needed.

Is it normal for your XBOX ONE controller to lose its link to the XBOX if you plug it into a PC with a USB cable? I was using the XBOX App on my PC and had to connect my XBOX controller to my PC with a USB cable. When I was done it would not work with the XBOX. I had to relink it? Am I going to have to do that every time I swap it back and forth?

I've got a 3 mobile broadband dongle I'd like to share over WiFi. I've already ticked the ICS options in the properties of the connection, but I've tried several times to use the internet with both iphone and ipod touch without any joy.

The router I have is a Netgear dg834g with latest firmware. The dongle is connected to the side USB port on my laptop.

Can someone provide any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks!

A:How to share a mobile broadband dongle over WiFi?

Some wireless vendors inhibit ICS when you're using their dongle, perhaps that's the issue?

You should consider a 3G router which allows you to connect that device directly to the router and share the connection.

What's the ISP and the EXACT make/model of the broadband dongle?

Hi this is my first post.
In my laptop there are two networks
1. Local area connection which i use to connect with my router(wired connection,Ethernet)
2. N79 the ad-hoc network which i created to connect with my mobile device.

Now when i turn on WiFi in my laptop and start listening, my mobile device detect the WiFi network. Then i start to browser of my phone and try to load a web page, and the computer shows the network status as connected. But in the phone still i cant access web pages, the browser of the phone try to load the web page and reply "no gateway reply".

What can i do for this?
Thax in advance.

A:Share internet with mobile device-Nokia n79

When you create the adhoc connection on your latop, you would enable ICS. The connection that get ICS is your LAN cannection, it'll say shared. When you browse on your phone, it will pick up this adhoc network which is wireless adhoc network. You logon like you would a normal wireless network with security key (if it's setup with one). If you can connect than i don't see why you cannot surf the net. Can you confirm that your phone have actually connected to this adhoc network.

Hi guys. So far I had gotten my PC (Win XP) to connect with the other PC (wireless network) using crossover cable. But now I wanna be able to connect my xbox too. I can't figure out how to make this PC(wireless adapter) -> Router (non-wireless) -> another PC -> XBOX, thing work. So now I am stuck in this gloomy world with nothing else to try But at least there's still hope here in this forum I hope. As far as I know there is not much support for the configuration you are trying to set up although I would think the best chance is using the Virtual Router software or the directions in the link> http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-y...reless-hotspot

It may require using static IP's on the IPv4 properties interface but some experimenting may be required.

When I try to use Windows Update I get this error code. What does this mean and how can I fix it!?

A:Error Code: 0x80004005

Hi

A 0x80004005 is a typical warning indicating you have no Internet connection (while you may have) because the update service is having problems establishing a perfect two-way communication with Microsoft servers.

There are reasons, but first some questions:

Is your XP genuine and validated?
Do you run a proxy?
Any malware/viruses that you've scanned for recently? (best to do so)
Do you have a good network connection or is it patchy or with problems from the ISP side?

Hi,

I bought a cheap USB bluetooth dongle ( Hype HY-981 Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Stereo Headphone ) to enable my PC to connect to my bluetooth devices and these headphones don't work. The computer discovers the headphones when I try to add a bluetooth devices and recognises them as headphones but when I go to add the device I get this error:
"Adding the device failed resulting in an unknown error. The reported error code is:0x80004005."
Can someone help me to solve this problem because I don't have any idea what to do to fix it.
Thanks in advance for any help !!!!

I have a problem with windows validation and would really like some help.
I built a computer about a month ago, and installed a copy of Windows XP Professional. It is a legitimate disc not a pirate copy. I have also installed many software programs including AVG antivirus, Office etc

*

When I turned my computer on today it boots up but when I try to log in I get a popup saying:
*Windows Product Activation* This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?
I have the option of Yes or No. If I click No it goes back to the Log in Screen and I don’t get much further. If I click yes I get another pop up window saying:
*Windows Product Activation* A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for the computer. Error Code: 0x80004005.
This only lets me press okay and then I am back to square one. I can’t log into my account.
(I know I should have activated before)

A quick browse of the internet told me that maybe some of my registry files might be corrupt. After booting up the Recovery Console from the Windows XP Professional disc I renamed the following files:
Wpa.dbl
Pidgen.dll
Licdll.dll
Regwizc.dll
Licwmi.dll
Wpabaln.exe
To:
Wpa.old
Pidgen.old
Licdll.old
Regwizc.old
Licwmi.old
Wpabaln.old
I did this with the hope I could log into the CD, and do the following:
• Expand licwmi.dl_ C:\WINDOWS\System32
• Expand regwizc.dl_ C:\WINDOWS\System32
• Expand licdll.dl_ C:\WINDOWS\System32
• ... Read more

i need help!! i'm at wits end with error code 0x80004005

im working on a Dell Inspiron 1150 with windows XP Home. basically, the product key files got removed in the process of cleaning up the hard drive. i did the steps shown on the website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914232
when i got to the part where i had to type the expand commands, i kept getting an ACCESS DENIED message after each command. (for example: EXPAND licwmi.dl_C:\WINDOWS\System32, then id press ENTER, the message would read: ACCESS IS DENIED)

i went ahead through all the steps but i still cant log on to normal mode. i get to the logon screen, put the password, and it gives me an empty message box (it just has a red X). after i hit OK on it, it begins to start up but immediately logs me back out.

i can still get onto safe mode but thats about it. i run the registry cleaner on CCleaner. I get an ActiveX/COM Issue on regwiz.dll, licwmi.dll, licdll.dll, licwmi.dll, licwmi.dll and a Missing MUI Reference on LaunchPad.exe. the fix for these is to delete them, but i dont know if i should.

well this is my dilemma. i hope somebody can help me. i really need it. thanks.

if u ran a registry cleaner that might be why u are having problems. we dont advise anyone to use them because they can cause a lot of problems as u have seen.i think u might have to reinstall the operating system again and hope that all goes well.hope this helps u.

Old Thinkpad with XP Pro Sp2. No restore cd with it. After multiple trojan hits and removals.. operating system crashed. Tried to restore with borrowed cd, that resulted in bsod on boot. (unequal error) Fixed that by choosing to use an orginal registry with the help of ubcd4win.

Now I almost have it. It will boot to safe mode now and I can get into the recovery console. However when I try to normal boot it gives me
"A problem is preventing Windows from checking license" Error 0x80004005.

As I said I do not have the org. restore cd but I do have the product code obtained from keyfinder before all this trouble. I also have several other xppro cds available.
1. can I work around this?
2. if not.. if I do a clean install with a borrowed cd and use the product key
from the troubled system I am going to wipe off, Will that work?

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Uninstall McCrappee completely - its as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, and is a major cause of many of the problems we solve on these forums - replace it with MSE.

Has this cured your problems?

O&O Defrag 11 Professional Edition When I finish analyzing both my drivers in O&O Defrag 11 Professional Edition i get this error message.

Failed to save incoming report data from O&O Defrag Agent (0x80004005)

Please check whether you have full access rights to the folder
"C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Local Settings\Application Data\O&O\O&O Defrag\reports" and it's subfolders.

The problem is, is that I can access that folder easily.

Help greatly appreciated!

welcome to TSG.

Why are you using a third party defrag tool? The built-in windows one is generally better, as the OS is what has to access the data anyhow. Third party defraggers generally use a different algorithm and, as such, will make the OS think the drive is fragged. When that happens, the OS puts more strain on the HD.

As for O&O, however, I have no clue. If you can access it, maybe the app can't. Maybe change the path to the one on in program files. Again, I gotta state that I do not use third party defraggers.

Hi everyone,

I was just helping a friend update their newly installed system running a Windows 7 Ultimate x64bit OS and have completed all Windows Updates. The Windows installation was from an image which I used to reimage the hard drive with the OS. When checking for software updates using Ninite it resulted in an error.

I honestly don't know if this could be a Windows problem, a Windows Update problem (something that could have gone wrong during/after) or could it be due to software?

Not sure if this is a normal error occurance. I've never encountered this kind of problem from a newly installed and updated system before. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated.

A:Getting an 'Unspecified Error' - 0x80004005 for

Do you mean that attempting to install Ninite, it threw this error, or do you mean that it's installed already, and throws this error when attempting to install an update?
I don't see WU being in the list of offered 'clients' - although .NET 4.5.2 is, as are some other things possibly probably best left to WU.
