I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was wondering, without changing every single folder in My Pictures manually (I have many), how to change everything from showing automatically in filmstrip and picking thumbnails?

So far, I've had to go to each folder and change. Is there a way to set view for automatically viewing in thumbnails (or anything else, other this this default setting of filmstrip)?

I've tried setting the whole file at thumbnail (and other files folders that have file folders within them), but when I open a folder that I've not changed manually, it's in filmstrip.

I've even opened the options > view and can't find anything about setting the way it opens in view to thumbnails, tiles, icons, etc.

Also, some of the file folders shows some sample pictures of the file (up to four) and others are a plain file folder. How do I set, so I can see samples of the pictures within the file folder?

And is there a way to choose those sample pictures on the front of the file folder?

Thank you.

I have a fairly new (bought in March) Fujitsu FMV Esprimo desktop computer with English OS (yes, Windows 7) here in Japan.

It has worked ok until about a week ago. A couple of weeks earlier, my home computer (NEC LaVie C laptop with XP Japanese OS) would open gmail with html view, not standard view, and I'd always have to manually change it to standard. Now this is sporadically happening on my Fujitsu.

I cannot find anywhere on gmail or Google that describes how to make standard view my default setting, and I've scoured the Google forums to no avail. I don't even see a customer service contact link to Google or gmail.

I just ran a Malwarebytes full system scan and found nothing. I run Avast and update it every day automatically. Have found no viruses so far.

I exchange email between the Fujitsu (at work on a different email system, not gmail) and the NEC (at home where I only use gmail), and on occasion I plug in a USB flash drive at home with info from the Fujitsu, and vice versa, so it is possible there might be an exchange of malware.

(My NEC has crashed (see another thread), so I cannot access it anymore. Probably a hard drive problem, not malware-related.)

You have changed the Reading View pane - here is how to get it back to your original:
Make changes to the Reading (preview) Pane - Outlook - Office.com

Just touch the 'View' tab and select 'Reading Pane' in the 'Layout' section on the Ribbon. Next select the option 'Right'. It should then be back to your preferred view.

A:how to change files from firefox format to another format

The simple and obvious answer is to just change the files that you want changed and leave the others alone. But you must have something more in mind.

What is "firefox format"? To what format do you want to change? Using what tool, application or method?

Hi, so I just got my new Yoga 910, and wanted to change the settings so the F keys are default and me not needing to press Fn. I found a lot of posts on the forum, where people got it working by having the latest BIOS and Lenovo Settings app from the store. I have the exact same installed, latest bios and settings app. But my input setting screen is just empty, it shows three loading spinners when loading the inputs setting page, but then just goes empty. See attached screenshot.    Anyone else experiencing this? I have updated Windows and all the drivers, also tried uninstalling the settings app and reinstalling, but that did not help either. Hope someone can help.. -- Christian

There is a software which often changes the proxy settings so I decided to config the internet settings registry right to reject the proxy settings. But When I decided to delete this software and return the rights back, I suddenly found that I can not change
the proxy settings manually!
The detail is that I change the auto proxy url, to let my pc use a pac file and I don't want any softwares to change. However, when I decided to give the rights back and try to change the url back, it never success, and even the same when i'm sure I have
cleared this url in the whole registry, but it back, as it never changes!
I check the registry rights twice or more to make sure that the rights has given back, just like it originally should be. But it never works.
So the result is I have to clear and reinstall the WINDOWS 10 AGAIN!
Never should you save such information both in registry and somewhere I don't know! Or you should let these stuffs out of the ** registry!

Hi everyone, thanks for looking.
Im running into a particular problem that I cant seem to find the reasons or the settings.

I watch HBO GO (i have a valid subscription) on my Windows 7 Home laptop and use an HDMI cable to connect my TV.

Scenerio 1:
If I leave the close the lid power option on hibernate, I must leave the laptop open and, when I connect the HDMI the TV, it becomes my monitor and I view as the monitor and watch anything full screen no problem.

Scenerio 2:
I change the power option on the lid close to "do nothing". When the HDMI cable is hooked up, if the laptop is open it uses the laptop display, if its closed it displays through the HDMI/TV. This is perfect and exactly what I want.
I can watch as the monitor no problem HOWEVER, if I choose full screen, I get gray borders and the "Full Screen" is not full and just centered.

I can not for the life of me figure out why and Im going crazy.
Does anyone know why the power option would have an effect on this and what settings I could change?

Many Thanks in Advance!!!

A:External display settings change when Power options change?

Check to see what resolution your laptop's display is at, what the external TV resolution is when you connect it to your laptop, and MAYBE what resolution the videos you're watching are. This just sounds like a resolution issue. If the TV is at a larger resolution than your laptop's resolution, change the TV's resolution to the size your laptop is at. Then try watching a video to see what happens. Hope this helps.

hi guys

Was sent an cd-r disc with pictures on in par file. Problem is i cannot seem to be able to view them. I down loaded VLC media player." That didnt work".
Other down loads i tried were, VFW configuration and Audio decoder configuration. Please can someone HELP.

A:cannot view par format

"par" files are typically part of an RAR file (or file set). They are a level of protection in case the RAR files are corrupted. They typically don't contain useable data on their own.

See here: http://www.quickpar.org.uk/

You use the PAR software to verify the RAR library is valid, and then you use compression software (ie: WinRAR, WinZip, etc.) to open/view/extract the data from the RAR file set.

I recently purchased a DVD+R/RW burner and want to know if I need a special format or file to be able to view jpg files on a conventional DVD player that claims to support jpg format. I do not want a fancy slideshow program with animation and fancy titles that converts the photos into a "movie" format, but would rather retain the original uncompressed photos that can be viewed, edited or printed from a PC and also be viewed on a conventional TV DVD player.

I have tried just burning jpg photos on a dvd disk but it does not work. When I put the disk in my DVD player I just get a message that says unsupported format. All of the photos are accessable thru the drive on my pc but they are in folders. Could the folders be causing the problem? Do I need a special file or format that a DVD player will recognize? I know the disks and the DVD player are compatible as I first tried a "movie" format slideshow and it worked fine.

Thanks, Mego

I apologize in advance if this is detailed but I've tried to fix this a lot of ways and am still coming up short.

2 days ago, my Windows Explorer kept crashing and restarting, crashing and restarting. I tried a number of suggested things online and finally it stopped after I uninstalled an add-on for youtube on Mozilla.

Unfortunately, one of the other fixes I found and attempted was: go to Computer > Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > check Always show icons and never thumbnails > uncheck Display file icons on thumbnails
After I did this, everything went pretty big and semi-blurry on my computer...and long story short, I can't get it to go back to the original settings.

What I've done since then:
1) tried to restore default settings through the same process as above
2) changed the resolution, which helped it become smaller but it is still somewhat wide and blurry
3) gone to Windows Color and Appearance via Control Panel to change the effects under clear type
4) gone to Display Settings via Control Panel and messed around with no luck

As a caveat, I am currently teaching English in South Korea so taking it in somewhere is kind of a bust.
If you could help me in any way, I would consider you a best friend and wizard and love you forever. Please take pity on me during this holiday season. A million thanks in advance!

I have upgraded to Office 2007 and am having a problem with the

Also, my screen only shows 8am to about 2pm before I have to use my scroll bar to scroll down to see appointments after that. Sounds like you need a firmware update on the office DVD player. Go to the manuf website and look in Downloads. Pay close attention to the instructions because you can destroy (corrupt driver logic) on the DVD player if you don't do it right.

If it's a burned DVD some older players won't recognise it. Only solution is firmware upgrade if the manuf has made one!

I'm running XP Pro and I like to have folders in different views - some in list view som in thumbnails some in groups, you get the idea. Anyway for some reason XP thinks I want all my folders to be viewed the same, i.e. Tiles, sorted by name, not in groups. Not good.

Yes, I have the little box ticked next to "remember each folders view settings" but it won't. And I didn't push the "Apply to all folders" button.

Anyone know of a proggy to solve this or a registry hack or whatever. This is like a steering wheel down the pants - It's driving me nuts!!!

Hi. I have searched all over the internet for an answer to no avail. My XP Pro does not remember the View settings when you close a folder. This also includes the Screen Size and other settings. At one time I updated to the most current SP-3 and that is when it stopped working.

I looked at a post here for a similar problem but the link to a fix didn't load, bad address.

I did see that the Shell Bag file was increased to 5000 for SP-2 and somewhere think I saw that it changed back when you updated to SP-3.

I can post my Hijack but it doesn't show the problem.

Well Paul from Parker, Colorado, I don't have a webkinz code so I couldn't login but the only thing that could be causing this is the fact that the Webkinz.com Web site is not coded to be fully compatible with IE8. Being there are discrepancies, stuff like this is bound to happen.

It might be worth checking out a different browser such as Google Chrome [www.google.com/chrome] or Mozilla Firefox [www.getfirefox.com].

I know how to change the current view in each folder and thus the font size of the messages, but do I really have to do this 100 times (assuming 100 folders) or is there a way to change it all at once.
And while I'm bothering you, is there a way of increasing the font of text in "To" "Cc" and "Subject—both as to the text you type in and the font on the program itself which says "To" "CC" and "Subject."

I'm encountering a problem while using IE 11 via RDS (published desktop).

I'm controling compatibility view settings in a GPO. There are listed some domains,
but not "company.example.com"

In "zone to site assignment" the domain "company.example.com" is listed with number 2, because trusted sites should not be listed in compatibility view.
If i connect to my RDS desktop, IE displays "company.example.com" in compatibility view. A gpresult says, all GPOs are retrieved correctly.
When i remove the entry, log off and log in again, it is displayed again.
The registry in my RDS desktop displays the settings as they are set in GPO, so im very confused, where the compatibility view entry comes from and why it appears, after i deleted it.

Is there any way to prevent the 'view' setting in Win 7 from being global and changing every folder in the computer. I have three win 7 machines and they all do it. And why did 'thumbnails' become 'icons'??

A:windows explorer view settings

Hello Ridgerunner,

Are you by chance in a library instead of an actual folder location?

All included folders in a library will share the same folder view.

Only while in the actual folder location will they have separate folder views.

For example, Music library versus "C:\Users\(user-name)\My Music" folder.

Could you give more details about what you mean for thumbnails becoming icons? A screenshot showing this would be best.

Hope this helps for now,
