CCC dysfunctional on Windows 8 - AMD HD 6630M

Q: CCC dysfunctional on Windows 8 - AMD HD 6630M

Hello,

I've got a ThinkPad Edge E420 on Windows 8. I've tried to install the video driver for my AMD HD 6630M from here:
Drivers and software - ThinkPad Edge E420, Edge E520

The problem is that CCC simply doesn't work. When I try to launch it, it doesn't do anything. I checked the task mananger for the running processes, and only once did the CCC process appear and then disappeared. Every other time it just doesn't work at all. Nothing happens at all. Any ideas of how to get round this?

P.S. I installed the Intel HD driver before trying to install this from the intel site, not from Lenovo. But I am quite sure that's no problem. However, you're free to contradict me

Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just spent the last 4 days reformatting my previously-XP computer, installing Windows 7, and setting up all my programs just the way I like them, installing new drivers for the move to Win7, dealing with new problems of moving onto Win7, and so forth. The OS acted like an angel for the first 2-3 days, and now, suddenly, it's acting like a moron.

The '3 Stooges' of problems I'm experiencing very often while it's running is that it often likes to go slow/freeze/(Not Responding)/white window, or give me a totally black screen with just the mouse pointer, or it shows me nothing but the desktop background and the mouse pointer.

As for rebooting issues, I've seen it reboot my computer on its own before, as well as being unable to boot all the way to the OS.

Last night I did a fresh Win7 "Upgrade" Repair Install, though it didn't fix these issues.

I have no idea why it acted so nice the first 2 days, not to mention those were the most intensive days, when I pushed it to its limits installing programs and drivers. Now that I've finally settled in and began my more casual work, it's acting like it has no power whatsoever. This is not the best time to act this way, after all the time and effort I put into installing and setting up everything I use. How can I whip it into shape and move on with my life, withOUT going back to XP? (as I read online that you must reformat to go from Win7 to XP, which would undo 3 days of effort)

Sounds like it might be one of your drivers not working correctly. Did you download the Windows 7 drivers for your devices?

Also, I've experienced a problem with explorer.exe crashing a lot and it was due to my privacy settings in Firefox. Do you have Firefox installed?

Hi all,

I'm using a HP ENVY 14-2020NR and I've had this problem for quite a while now but it has never bothered me until recently as I began playing Diablo and was surprised that my Envy was struggling to cope with medium-low graphics. When I first bought it, I was able to load up catalyst control centre and assign programs to integrated/dedicated graphics however now I cannot load it up at all.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers from HP with no avail.

I now suspect that the AMD graphics card in my laptop may be faulty and the notebook has resigned to using the intel graphics only.

When I right click the catalyst control icon in the system try, I see only 1. Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics with no mention of the radeon HD graphics.

In Device manager however I see both AMD Radeon and Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics with no errors in either of them.

In Control Panel I see no Catalyst control centre. However I can see in the windows start menu but when clicking it, nothing loads up.

I installed the drivers provided by HP and not AMD or Intel.

Any help on the issue is welcome, thank you in advance!

So the problem is on my laptop, When I view videos on youtube it's fine untill i switch to fullscreen. My mouse will be unaccurate and i will have to place it to the left of the button i wish to press; there is also a line usually down the right side of the screen asif the video has been pushed to the left and my mouse doesn't know this. The same thing happens with games on DX11 or 10 and The Sims 3.

I tried finding solutions on the internet but couldn't find any, I found one which was to disable Hardware acceleration in flash and it fixed it, but then I downloaded a video in Itunes and bam the problem reoccured. I can't download videos drivers because i'm unsure which to download and when I went onto the AMD site i got an erorr message saying contact your dealer as it's not compatible.

My question is simple,How do i fix it?
Btw my laptop is a Sony Vaio VPCCA with Intel i5 and Win 7.Oh, and I know there is a switchable graphics feature, but that wont do any good as I play quite heavy games.

Help please.

My computer got very slow today so I ran a Bidtdefender scan. As you'll see in the report below there are trojans. My first question is this - what does it mean when Bitdefender says the virus was blocked and didn't infect my computer, but at the same time says "disinfection failed/ move failed. Sounds contradictory.
I ran Hijack This after the virus scan and have included it below.
Leading up to today's slowness, I've had Media Player hanging a lot, task manager not ending processes (hanging) and long delays before I get my FIOS connection. Don't know if there's any connection.
Thank you for looking.

But the wireless function abruptly stopped working. Error message - "acquiring network address" but doesn't connect. I tried restarting my computer. We also took my computer off the wireless network and added it back again. Doesn't work.

It does or does not detect your wireless network? Any wireless network? If it is not detecting any, and you are trying to use an integrated adapter, is it switched on?

I've been playing with a new clean install of Windows 8 and don't mind the eye candy and links of the start screen tiles but find the implementation of the "metro" version of IE 10 almost unusable.

Let me explain. In setting up IE 10 desktop version I imported all my favorites, most nicely organized in files according to subject and whatever. They number a couple of hundred.

However when I go to the "metro" IE 10 these favorites are strung out seemingly to infinity above the address area. No files by subject, no particular order, just a line of tiles of favorites extending on forever. It's unusable and quite a disappointment given all that Microsoft seems to have invested in the interface. How could they possibly put out such a flawed approach to web browsing, the basis of their "new" OS? I must be missing something, or not.....please enlighten me!

So long story short i had to upgrade my motherboard to the one currently listed in my System Specs, The one i replaced was a ECS A885GM-A2 (V1.1) AM3 AMD 880G

After doing so i have found my computer unusable; It boots up as long as i don't touch the mouse or click on anything, once every 5-6 boots it seems to act normal till it gets reset, then the cycle repeats. As soon as i move the mouse around everything hangs, so i shortcut into Task Manager, but it never pops up. Hitting Computer from the Start Menu does nothing either. So i Ctrl Alt Del and get a black screen for a few seconds then a message saying that the security options for Ctrl Alt Del can't be displayed.

I am not sure what to do here... If its an issue with my mouse, it'd be a new one.

Just a random afterthought. I've managed to get into the Task Manager and snooped around some before it freezes and i noticed the service "Browser" was turned off. According to the description its the computers browser, so i tried to turn it on but to no avail. Not sure if that means anything.

I would follow these steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If the mouse continues with its problems then replace it.

Dear gurus,

I have a particularly annoying problem manifested as a printing problem at first. I use my laptop at work and at home and it works perfectly until a few days ago, I started to have problem printing to a particular networked printer (a HP CLJ 3600, with its own jetdirect) in my office. I tried reinstall the printer (as local standard TCP/IP port), reinstallation was without problem, but it did not help (got an error in the printer monitor window). Eventually I pinged the port and it timed out. I don't know why this suddenly plays up. I have no problem printing to (and pinging) another printer set up in a similar way in the office; and I have no problem printing to a printer server at home. Everything else like internet are OK. More annoying, this HP CLJ 3600 works perfectly with other computers that are on the same office network, ping, print, everything works fine. I tried reboot in safe mode with networking and it didn't help. I guess it is the printer TCP/IP port that is messed up on my laptop? How can I clean or reset that? Thanks.

So our school was throwing out old lenovo 3000 n100's and me and my friends grabbed a few. It also happened to be raining that day. After some toying around and reinstalling win7, they all work fine, except the audio.

On some computers the audio works. On others, the mixer will show the green bar going up, but there is no audio coming out. External speakers and headphones were tried. There is nothing in device manager that says something is wrong. Device manager also says its driver is up to date.

Anyone have advice on how I could fix it? is it a driver problem? or just water damage?

My ISP provided me with a new Huawei HG521 router today and I'm trying to get our 4 family PCs to get along nicely through it.

So far, one Windows 7 (SysInfo log below) and one XP machine are getting along really sweetly, with the XP printing through the W7's printer.

But the 2nd W7 machine sees the 1st W7 machine, but doesn't see its printer.

And the sole Vista machine connects to the internet but doesn't see either of the W7 machines, or the XP machine.

Anyone offer any relationship counselling for these four friends?

This is such an pathetically simple way to display the navigation buttons in explorer.exe, but I can't seem to get it right. Oddest of all, this "problem" only appeared today and no new software installed. I HAVE made changes to the "tools" & "views" in an open folder with one or many subfolders, but reset them as they've always been. Any ideas on how to change this annoyance?? I've uploaded two captured images. One is of the far left side of the screen; only "Control" and "CmdPrompt" are true, simple links for the two most used .exe files. Every other shortcut opens either a single-pane window with .lnks to.exe or.msc item which are scattered all over, or it shows .lnks to subfolders. I know this is quirky, but I have always hated desktops covered with dozens of shortcuts (and I obviously detest the arrows shown by default). The icons shown are links to various places; the rest of my 42" monitor is clean.

Always, always, always, when going into nested folders, the navigation arrows on the top line have allowed to go back to previous level, etc. SUDDENLY, these arrows are grayed out and do nothing and am forced to close the window and restart explorer with the WinKey+E method.

ALSO, note the "My Pictures" icon appears empty (unlike Music and Videos); there and dozens of subfolders and humdreds of images within them. This, too, has always worked UNTIL today?!?

Hello everybody, a few weeks ago I got one of those Antivirus Vista viruses. I got rid of it after using a registry fix. After running the reg fix, I ran MBAM and it allowed me to get rid of it. However, weeks later, I still feel the repercussions. Chrome will not load, Firefox will not start, IE randomly redirects, and so does Opera. I'm currently using Songbird, my media player to write this. I want to know if I'm still infected and if there is any way to fix my browsers. Note: I tried running GMER and it froze my computer, I had to force restart. I do however, have the logs for DDS. Thanks so much for your time,SnadbadEdit: After posting this, AVG popped up with a rogue exploit threat. A few minutes later, a host process crashed. I'm pretty sure I'm still infected, I just don't know how to get rid of the thing.

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop working since 2006. The keyboard has stopped responding altogether since 3 days ago. Sometimes when I press an alphabet key, it gets stuck on that and repeats endlessly. Touchpad and right/left buttons working fine. On a browser page, the find option opens automatically and the stuck letter goes on typing itself in any blank space i click on. Reboot helps at times and I have found that if I do not touch the k/b at all, and stick to the USB k/b then the problem doesn't appear. Ran spybot and HijackThis. NO FIXES CARRIED OUT BY MYSELF. Have saved the logs though.

i am not good at english, hope i can make myself clear.hello, everyone. this is all my fault. i download a movie call "Brave" via torrent from internet. after download i can't open the video file, the readme file tell me that i need to install a decoder software in the same folder. i use the microsoft security essential to scan this "decoder", all good. so i install it after scaning.then, bad thing happened. the microsoft security essential realtime protection shut down. windows fire wall shut down. windows update shut down. the most important, all of those three could not be restart and i can't find each of them in the services.msci search on google for a solution. it take a long time. finally, i found something on the google. the solution is use "sc" command to recreate the service on services.msc. then i download a reg file called "wscsvc.reg" from that site, and import it to the system.http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/showthread.php?116524-Win7-Security-Centre-service-missing-after-malware-infectionWindows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wscsvc]"DisplayName"="@%SystemRoot%\\System32\\wscsvc.dll,-200""ErrorControl"=dword:00000001"ImagePath"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,52,00,6f,00,6f,00,\ 74,00,25,00,5c,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,73,\ 00,76,... When I upgraded I lost use of the bluetooth service on my HP Pavillion DV7 notebook with
Intel Centrino Wireless-N o + WiMAX 6150 chip. The bluetooth driver was not working and identified as the Atheros driver. I went to the Intel site and downloaded and updated the latest Wimax 6150 driver for Windows 10 64 bit and
also updated the laptop chipset. The bluetooth driver was unchanged.
Upon further reading on the Intel site, I read that when the Wimax 6150 is using Windows 7, the bluetooth driver is Atheros, but when using Windows 8.1, or 10, it requires a Wimax 6150 bluetooth driver. Fair enough, except that Intel
does not offer this particular driver!
I tried first to update the Atheros driver, but it said it was the latest one, and up to date. I then deleted the Atheros driver hoping that its replacement would be installed with the Wimax 6150 update, but nothing happened. Now,
in Device Manager, I no longer have a line for bluetooth since I deleted the Atheros driver. Can someone point me to a site that has a Wimax 6150 bluetooth driver for Windows 10- I'd like to use my bluetooth service on this laptop!

IN Windows 7 my back up was working fine. I then upgraded to Windows 10. Due to heating problems with my laptop I downgraded back to Windows 7. Now I find that many systems are not working including the back. It just gives me this error.

I have already done the " restore default libraries" as suggested in some blogs but the problem persists.
Can you help me this problems and the other issues of programmes not updating automatically.

I cannot figure out how to get all of my email stores moved from my old PC (Windows Vista/Windows Mail) to my new PC (Windows 7/Outlook 2013). Is there a way to successfully do this or do I need to give up?? When trying to use the export function for messages in windows mail it comes up with an error message to say 'The export could not be performed. An error accured while initializing MAPI.' All my email accounts are POP3. I did find the email stores and transfered them manually to the new PC but I opened them on the new PC in outlook then only a small fraction of emails was there and they were all jumbled up and my folder structure did not transfer. Can this transfer be done or not? Hope to get some useful answer. Cheers, Torsten.

Hey all,

Firstly I hope i have posted this in the right forum.

As the name states I can not use any of my windows security I know this is because of a fake anti virus i had at one point, I also can't install any other virus protection or firewalls onto my computer.

I'm assuming this has to do with what the virus has done with my computers registry, correct me if I'm wrong.

I want to restore my registry back to its default I have tried the reg restore /? command in cmd but it comes up with (see attached picture) and am not sure what this means or for the next step for me to take to continue the command.

Is there any down side to restoring my registry to its default as well?

I own several computers. Some PC's and a mid-2010 iMac 27 inch. Windows 10 upgrade worked fine on my PC's. After I signed up for the upgrade on my iMac Bootcamp running Windows 7 Ultimate, Apple announced it will not support my particular iMac version. I
have tried to no avail to stop the Windows 10 upgrade, which has failed several times. I have uninstalled Windows updates associated with the upgrade: KB 3035583, KB 3033929, and KB2952664, and hidden them in Windows Update. Any suggestions as to how to stop
Windows 10 upgrade? Any work around to install the upgrade on my iMac?

Thanks, Jeff

I implement Point of Sale systems. Currently our POS network may have a mix of Windows platforms, mostly 7 Pro and 8.1. Windows updates need to be installed, but we handle this process manually, with the setting "download updates but let me choose
when to install them". I'm looking for a way that our clients can sit down periodically on the main computer and install updates (during non-business hours), and also push them out to the other computers in the workgroup (which may be on a different OS).
Is this possible?
