I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hi We have fortten the Bios Password on the companies HP Probook 650, please advise how we go about resetting it. Thanks
Hi, At the password screen, hit enter 3 times - if you receive a 'halt code' , post back with this code. If no code is displayed, you'll need to Contact HP Business support - they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. a month ago I bought HP ProBook 4740s. Everything was OK until now. I haven't been playing (or using any 3D apps) for two weeks. Yesterday I wanted to play a game which runs on OpenGL and I wanted to configure its profile in Catalyst. I double-clicked the icon and it immediately crashed. Since that time it has been crashing even when computer was idle, just few moments after I turned it on. Since Catalyst doesn't work I am not able to use 3D apps reasonably.
Windows 8 64bit.
Radeon HD 7650M and Intel 4000HD switchable graphics.
I am getting "Catalyst Control Center: Host application stopped working" message.

Hello, I bought new SSD disc Crucial MX300 2.5-inch SSD (275 GB) for my laptop: HP Probook 4740s. When I try to boot new Windows 10 system the installation process started to freeze and stopped with Windows 10 logo and preloader icon. I checked disc (it starts when I try live GParted Linux distribution. I can add partition etc.). Do you have any suggestions why Windows does not start to install properly ? Can it be SSD format problem or SSD disc Crucial MX300 2.5-inch SSD is not good for my laptop ?Read other answers
Hello! I used my Probook with a 840 evo for years without any problem. Now I got a 850 pro, installed a clean win10, updated it and installed softwares, had to reboot it many times, it was working perfectly.I installed Samsung Magician, switched to performance mode and since i can not boot at all, "no boot device found". The SSD is visible, but even formatting (NTFS with win10 installer) and a new install of win10 could not make it bootable. I thought about hardware failure but the service tested it found no error. The notebook is working fine with any other HDD/SSD. Can it be an incompatibility issue? If yes then how the heck was I able to install and run Win10 before installing Samsung magician? Thanks ZoltánRead other answers

Hi, I was working on my notebook when suddenly my PC went off. I didn't know what to do so I unpluged it from power and leave it alone for a few hours. Then I try to turn it on again, at first notebook did not respond on power button so I try it again and it turned on....what was very strange....I thought that mybe notebook got overheated, or power went out...and then strange message appeared that said "Product Information Not Valid System Board 00A problem" i pressed enter and system booted up normaly ....I thought it showed up once and will disappear after the restart, but not...notebook is working normaly but this is just annoying me. I googled this problem and it says that this could happend when you change your motherboard, but I didnt touch that at all. Is there any solution or I need to carry notbook to some service because notebook warranty has expired, they could charged me repair even I do not see what the failure is. I would appreciate your help very much, tnx.Read other answers
Hello. My BIOS is password-protected but I do not know the password. I tried to answer a set of security questions provided by HP Spare Key Recovery, but to no avail. Is there a way to reset the password other then clearing the CMOS? I am trying to make a clean Windows 8 installation, but computer refuses to boot from DVD or USB.Thank you.
Try entering a wrong password 3 times & see if you get an error/halt code.If so use the error/halt code on link below to generate a master bios password that may allow entry to the BIOS & you can then change or turn off the password function as you wish.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26983620/Java_Bios/biosunlock.htmlRead other 7 answers

can anyone help please????
You can clear the bios in two ways; remove the cmos battery or some mb have a jumper to clear cmos without having to remove the battery. If you can enter the bios write down any settings that you may need since your bios will load defaults [and no password].
After doing this you will need to go into the bios and setup time, date, and any other parameters that are necessary for your computer.

My friend just bought a toshiba 490 XCDT laptop at a garage sale for $10.00. The original owner password protected the machine and forgot the password, so when you turn the laptop on it comes up with "password=" and won't allow any other action. I can't Boot from Floppy or CD and I can't enter the BIOS to change the password. I even removed the hard drive with no avail. The only thing I can do so far is update the BIOS by pressing F12 on startup. All other F keys are disabled, Esc and DEL are also disabled. I called toshiba and for $60.00 I can take the laptop to the closest authorized dealer (30 miles away) and they'll remove the password protection. The laptop is a Pentium 2, my friend doesn't mind paying the $60.00 but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions before I make the trip across town.
See if you can clear the BIOS or remove the CMOS battery to clear the BIOS. That should clear the PW.
Hi guys and or girls.

I've tried unplugging the battery, ram, cmos, tried holding down the f8f9 keys, shift keys while booting, esc key, del key. I've tried everything.....now i'm out of options. I've taken the hdd out and scanned it with my desktop pc for malware and viruses.....still nothing....please help.

Hello 3bdom7sn, Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you. This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and thecode is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. Please have a look at this link. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/49497-HP-Probook-Elitebook-BIOS-Password-Reset-Utility Replace the BIOS chiphttp://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Elitebook-8470p-8470w-8570p-8570w-8770w-Programmed-Bios-Chip-No-Password-... Hi! I recently bought a new laptop, i'm very happy with it and it works fine! Although, now i need to access the BIOS Password, something that the previously owner dont recall setting ( A School ) Does anyone know any way to reset/recover the BIOS password to this model, without buying a new motherboard/BIOS Chip or ''Contact HP Support, because they probably need a proof that it's not stolen?I didnt get any receipt from the School that they've bought it, Anyone got any ideas?
Hello @OskarB98? Welcome to the HP Support forum. I am afraid that there is no other options other than HP Support for business. Most business class notebooks (including yours Elitebook and Probook) have better security. You will have to contact HP Support for assistance on removing the password. Here is how >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html>> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/business-support.html HP Business support should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file and instructions which you can use to reset the password. I am sure they do not need any kind of proof - just be somewhat pushy. In order to generate this BIN file they will need your serial number, product number, UUID, etc... found in the startup menu (F1) . Hope this helps. Let me know if you face any issues.Read other 5 answers
