Also removing the mobo battery didnt help, after its says that it has been reseted it boots again without anything happeninng.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello guys, I kind of bricked my Thinkpad E330 after having tried to update the BIOS from Windows (.exe file from the support page). The laptop rebooted, then the BIOS flash seemed to execute correctly and after a final reboot, black screen. I tried to hard reboot but the screen does not give any cursor or text. CMOS battery removal before start offers a one time chance to see the BIOS info page but every action I try to take (Enter to pause screen, ALT+F1 to go to the settings or simply wait) leads to an error message saying that the clock date is incorrect. The laptop then reboot and offers me the black screen. At this point I do not know how to solve the problem as the warranty and support expired for a long time now. I also tried to burn the BIOS with Wincrisis tool without success. Does anyone have a clue about this problem? Thanks

Prompted by the Support Assistant, I updated the BIOS on my Pavilion 11 yesterday. It finished installing, went to restart and then completely died.  I have performed a hard reset, pressed windows and B keys while powering up and then releasing. Pressed windows and B keys while powering up and not releasing. Nothing. The screen is blank. It feels as if the fan is whirring, but no lights are apparent apart from the power button light itself. It seems the next step is to install a previous version of BIOS on a USB drive, but there are no BIOS updates available on the HP product page. I am now at a loss. The battery is not even accessible, so I can't take that out!  Any help gratefully received!

A:After update my bios, my x250 dead!

Always make sure you flashed the right bios any wrong bios would cause the laptop becoming as bricked = dead so only solution to solve this is to send the laptop to Lenovo repair and they will either have tools to be able to reflash the bios for you or they will replace the motherboard with a new one.

Help...

I attempted a BIOS update using the Asus update on my computer. I have a P4S533 Motherboard. All seemed ok. Now the computer will not boot or do anything other than this; I hear one long beep followed by two short beeps. Then a 3 or 4 second pause and then steady short beeps that never stop.

I read about using AFLASH.exe... the only problem is I have my computer set to boot from the CDROM first and not the floppy A: drive. I cleared CMOS with the jumper, I reboot pressing F2, F8, Delete, anything....nothing seems to work.

Any ideas what happened and what I can do to get the computer working again?

Thanks,

Paul

In most cases (all I've seen) a corrupted BIOS and the only option is to replace the motherboard.  If its still in warranty contact Dell.
3 flashes is "system board or chipset error" which reinforces the corrupted BIOS.
2 flashes is "No memory or RAM detected" which goes back to the BIOS as the BIOS is what detects hardware.
One outside chance, reset the CMOS (BIOS) memory.  With the PC powered off, open the case and remove the CR2032 battery for at least 10 minutes.  Reinstall the battery and power on.  If your lucky it will have cleared the problem.

Hi, I have just bought a factory refurbished X1 Carbon 5th gen and was going through the initial updates routine. After the classical huge Win10 initial update, I opened Lenovo companion and started the update process. It started a bios update, rebooted and after 5 minutes the screen went black.I waited some time, tried pressing some keys... nothing. It's dead.Is there any one with some experience on the subject that has some good ideas on how to wake it up? Thanks

Good day.

Sorry you're having trouble.

So it's fiully powered down, or in a hung state?
Not sure it will help, but you might try the emergency reset hole.
See page 6 in the user guide: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/x1_carbon_5th_ug_en.pdf

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

I?m currently updating the BIOS of some Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 PCs and I came across a problem. The Flash UEFI BIOS update (provide by Lenovo) worked almost perfectly on the first PCs, despite it didn?t automatically open the console and started the flashing process.Anyways I did go on with my work. Almost all other PCs had the problem that when the second phase (yellow font)/ afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp started the afuwin.exe stopped working (it crashed). It seemed like the Update wouldn?t get done this way so I decided to try it with the USB Flash method, also provided by Lenovo, but it also didn?t work. It says in the second phase ?15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platform? Last but not least I tried to update the BIOS with the CD-ISO but when updating with this method it says that the BIOS-Version is too old. Some information about the system: ThinkCenter M83Type: 10BE0003GEOS: Windows 7 SP1 64bitBIOS-Revision: FBKT73AUSBIOS last Updated: 01.April.2014 Furthermore Information what I found out:BIOS-Revision seems to not matter (same version but some worked some not)Doesn?t matter if BIOS is set to UEFI only or Legacy onlySecure Boot also seems like it doesn?t matter if its on or notWhen the afuwin.exe crashes it only writes a return codeI use the update provided by this Page from Lenovo (Update: fbjycpusa)https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds035753 Thanks... It has been few times that I have called support center in my country and recieved professional help without any cost, despite they said in the machine voice that "any support after 30 of perchase will be charged"; they are nice when you have a short question like this.

Try them; call your local IBM or Lenovo support center!

We bought our oldest son this: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satel...tBy=bySubmissionDateDescending#R3VT4MY1GTRFQA laptop in December for his birthday. He got it on 12/22 (purchased Cyber Monday from Amazon) and yesterday he told me it was not working. Asking he said it turns on, power light on front and fan comes on but won't boot up past there and nothing displays on the screen. We tried putting in the restore DVD we made when he got it but nothing. It powers on and off with the power button but nothing else. I went to Amazon to check and see about warranty and what my options might be and when I went to the page where I bought the laptop I see there are now about 20 negative reviews by people who recieved a notice from Toshiba to update the BIOS and after the update the laptop is doing what my son's is. Most say that neither Toshiba or Amazon is of any help. So I asked my son if he tried to update the BIOS and he said yes. Now I am wondering if I should try and contact Amazon since I've had the machine under 3 months, Toshiba, or try to repair it on my own or a computer repair place. I am typing this question on a Toshiba laptop purchased 2 years ago that I absolutely love and have never been prompted to update the BIOS. Confused and looking for advice.

TIA

Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost 255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

Have an Inspiron 3252. Was notified of a BIOS update by the Dell update app way back on May 12. A couple of seconds after clicking "install now", the computer froze up. No response from mouse or keyboard. After waiting 20 minutes (hoping it would 'recover') I had to pull the plug and reboot. Now the computer does nothing, power light comes on but nothing else. BIOS is never started so all inputs devices are dead.
Same thing happened to a lot of Inspiron 3052's. After a week and hundreds of posts, Dell has claimed responsibility and agreed to replace the motherboards of the 3052's, even if they were past warranty ( but no more than 6 months past).
Not so with my case, I guess because they only got the one reported failure. Several calls to tech support were a waste of time. I would have to pay for a replacement motherboard, even though it was an update from Dell that destroyed my system.
Anyone have an ideas how to fix a corrupted bios? *** says I need to exhaust all normal remedies before initiating any legal action so I have one more phone call to make to tech support ( will be the fourth) and this last post ( other posts I have made about this have become locked to me, WTG Dell!).
Also, where would the .log files that record errors be located? Is there a .log file for keystones?

A:Inspiron 3252 dead from BIOS update a month ago

Sorry you had this problem, but there's always a chance a BIOS update will fail, regardless of whether some update software offers it to you or you manually select it from the Support page for your system. That's why it's generally not recommended to update BIOS unless the new version fixes a problem that your system is actually having.
The difference with your case is there may have only been one (yours) or a few  reports of a BIOS update failure on the 3252 with the latest version.
Did you try resetting BIOS by removing the motherboard battery and pressing holding the power button for ~30 sec - with the PC unplugged from the wall?
You can get a new 3252 motherboard here for ~$85:
www.ebay.com/.../222395951201
There are other offerings for this motherboard at various sites on the net too. And Dell offers Out-of-Warranty repair services for a fee, if you don't want to DIY:

hi mahdhir2005,

Im sorry to hear that.

I would suggest you call the Lenovo Technical Team regarding the Issue. If it is the BIOS that's causing the issue then there maybe no source or option to have it fixed without they're help or service.

If the BIOS software you downloaded was from a legit Lenovo Site and correct model, then I think It will be ok to Just report them what happened and ask for possible option.

Hope this helped
Thanks!

Hi Tony,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

You can go to the bios and disable secure boot. Save and exit. Try to install the update again.

Hope this helps.

Hi! I updated my Lenovo T430u's BIOS from version 2.11 to 2.13 this morning and everything is slow since. I mean: sloooow. I had a functionnal dual boot Windows 10/Linux Mint but now Linux Mint takes around 3 minutes to boot. It took 25 seconds before. I figured it was related to the disk so I did the memory and disk diagnostics but everything seems ok. Even booting from USB/DVD is slow. I tried restoring default settings from BIOS, putting the battery in maintenance mode, removing the battery and even disconnecting the CMOS backup battery for an hour. I then tried to downgrade the BIOS but it does not seem like an option. This would probably fix my problem since everything was ok at version 2.11.I am really out of solution here! Please help, my computer is not usable in this state :/ Julien

It looks a lot like this problem:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T500-takes-15-minutes-to-boot-after-bios... The only thing is that I don't have an "Intel AMT" option to disable in the BIOS :/ Help!
