I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

this is my first Lenovo computer, I bougth it form a friend that was not using the laptop because he lost the charging cord and was lazy to buy a new one, I bought the laptop for 300 bucks, and managed to find an used cord for 20 bucks, the battery was dead when i pluged it in, but it did turn on when I pressed the power button and the battery charging indicator light was blinking, just as normal, the problem arrived when I discharged it enough that windows asked me to plug in the cord, when I did nothing happend (the computer did not recognize the cord on the task bar and the battery light was not blinking), I was worried thinking that the cord was not good (since it is the 90w version), but to my surprise, the battery porcentage was rising up, but the time remaining was not rising, but when it reached 100%, the time refreshed and all is normal now. the only thing is that when I disconnect the cord it jumps form 100% to 95% instantly.. What should I replace?

HP g6-1b60us Notebook PCHere is the situation and symptoms. Battery not charging. Battery icon indicates battery being charged, but it sits at 5%. Have bought a replacement HP battery and that battery will not charge also (it sits at 50%, which I assume is the initial charge it came with). Run the HP Support Assistant and both batteries fail the test saying that cell 4 is bad (cells 1 to 3 have charge, but cell 4 has a 0 reading, even in the new battery). (Is there a problem accessing/charging cell 4?)When the battery is installed and the AC adaptor is unplugged, and the laptop is turned off, the battery charge LED shows a white LED (red/amber indicates that it is charging the battery); now the only time the LED goes out is when the battery is physically removed. Before the problem began, the battery charge LED would be off when the battery was installed and the charger was not being used. Now the battery charge LED goes off only when the battery is physically removed. What I have tried:Cleaned the contacts.Bought a new HP battery.Tried the complete discharge method of turning the laptop off, removing the power cord and battery and holding the power on key for over 30 seconds.Have done safe restarts.Reset to HP recommended settings.Suggestions/recommendations?

Hi everyone,

My name is Tarun. I have been facing an issue with my newly purchased battery. I did not use my laptop for an year or so because my battery was dead and i didn't even remove that dead battery from the laptop, it was kept inserted for an year. A few days ago I purchased a new battery. When I turned on my laptop with the new battery and tried to charge it, I saw its charged percentage as 7%, I thought that it will be fully charged within an hour or so but it didn't. Although, when I hover the mouse on the battery icon ( right bottom under the tray ), it displays the message as 7% available (plugged in, CHARGING )....Please note, i wrote "charging".

To my surprise, percentage of "battery charging" never increases, I do not know what's wrong with it. Adapter works fine, windows runs fine, everything seems to be working fine.

I discussed with a naive person who repairs laptops. He wasnt sure of the fault but he guessed that that there could be a problem with charging IC. I didn't agree with him because of two reasons, 1st- he is a naive person, 2nd- If charging IC has a problem then it shouldn't have displayed the message " plugged in, CHARGING".

I am pretty much frsutrated and dissappointed. Could someone please help me and let me know what should be/ can be done?

thanks & regards
Tarun Bajpai

Today, completely out of the blue, the charge indicator for the battery in my laptop started flickering on and off, even when not plugged in. It's not any sort of code it just flickers completely randomly at varying intervals of time. Please, any help would be appreciated! I've looked around the internet for hours but the one solution someone on these forums had (to drain the battery and let it charge to full) didn't work for me and I have no idea what to do. I'm running windows 10 if that helps and I've tried to restore my computer from before it started happening to no avail.

Just received my new notebook and am extremely happy with it, execept for the battery indicator. The effective charge reamining, fluctuates by a wide margin, suddenly jumping from 4 hours remaining - to 3 hours - to 6 hours in a matter of minutes! The PC was left in idle state with no processing happening whatsoever. at 100% charge it shows 5 hours 6 mts of remaining time, as the charge drops to 97% after 5 mins of idle, the remaining time changes to 2 hrs 34 mins and at 94% charge after another 5 mins, it shows 7 hr 20 mins of remianing time! I called Lenovo service and after one hour of trying this and and that, they offered to replace the PC with a comment that battery takes 1 week to settle down and stabilise! I find that a bit out of the ordinary. My config is 710S, i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 10, with Lenovo optimiser loaded. (The battery gauge reset, suggested by service is missing in this version - the service staff themselves could not find it).  Is anyone else having similar issues?

The only thing I will see is the dot on the "i" on the top cover, flash when I connect power.  Surpised there isn't a status indicator. Peter

No, there is no charging indicator on the T450s. By popular demand, Lenovo added one back to the T460s.

Hi. This is my first time posting on this forum, so go easy on me if possible. I recently just purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 15" (the 4K version) online and have received it today. When I first unbox the laptop and charge it, the laptop charged to a 100%. However, after about 3 to 4 hours of leaving the laptop unplug and replugging the charger again, I was not able to charge the laptop. The laptops indicator lights was not flashing and the settings does not have battery conservation. I have checked and tried everything possible such as using different outlets and the one I originally used to charge the Yoga, but nothing works. I hope that by posting on this forum, someone can be able to help me out solve this problem. Also, the Yoga is at 29%, so attempting anything must be quick or the laptop will go "dead".

Hi Rango,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.
The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:
? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.
Hope this clarified your query!

When powered on charging light flashes yellow.
Battery does not charge and if battery removed the laptop shuts down.

At time this problem does not happen.

Moreover, when power cord is removed, battery charges for few moments and then yellow flashing light comes on and charging stops. When shutdown, the battery charges normal and 100% charged battery gives almost 4 hours time.

Can any one please guide about the problem. Is the problem in power adapter? or the battery? or the motherboard/hardware?

How to verify problem?

A:Satellite Pro L500: indicator flashing amber - battery doesn't charge

It seems that you already posted an thread about similar issue with your notebook some years ago.

In first case it seems that your battery was the troublemaker.

You are talking about charging indicator. I?m not quite sure what LED should it be.
There are 5 LEDs - from left: DC IN / Power / Battery / HDD, ODD / Bridge Media Slot

The first DC IN indicator glows green when power is being correctly supplied form the AC adaptor. However, if the output voltage from AC adaptor is abnormal or if the computers power supply malfunctions, this LED will go out.

The second from left Power indicator glows green when the notebook is turned on. If you turn the notebook into the sleep mode, this indicator flashes amber.

The third battery indicator show the conditions of the batter charge. Green indicates the battery is fully charged, amber indicates the battery is charging and flashing amber indicates a low battery condition.

Are you able to power up the unit without the battery but using just a connected AC adaptor?
Usually this should be possible even if the battery isn?t inserted.

I have just replaced my CMOS/BIOS battery today, as , I have faced some critical problem regarding regular BIOS date/time reset after system shutdown. But I want to know how do i recognize, that my new batter is totally ok or functional.

Battery Meter gadget shows that "battery Not charging"
Is it a gadget problem?

Is there any method available so that I can track that my new installed CMOS battery in PC is working fine?

Please help me.

A:Battery Meter shows CMOS battery not charging

The battery you have replaced is solely there to maintain the clock and other BIOS settings (if you have changed them from their defaults). It will not prevent you from booting your system if it is dead/missing; all it means is that you will have to enter the BIOS each time and make the correct settings and time. This battery is not rechargeable.

Do you still have to enter the correct time, or is the BIOS maintaining this now you've changed the battery?

There is a small LED indicator on the side right next to the charging plug that shows orange while the laptop is charging, and then turns green - presumably when the battery is full.  However, I've noticed that the indicator turns green before the battery is actually full.  Just now I saw that it was green, and then checked the status in the taskbar, which showed only 90% battery.   Is this normal?  Are there settings that can be adjusted somewhere for this?  Thanks.

I have a Lenovo Z50-70 running Windows 8.1. The laptop is relatively new, bought in Jan. 2015.

Some time ago, the original battery suddenly started to have a problem where it would say 45% available, plugged in, not charging. No matter what fixes I tried (after looking through a lot of articles, posts, comments, etc.), nothing made the battery start charging again. It always stays at 45%. Also the battery light/indicator on the front of the laptop is always blinking white.

So I got a new battery, put it in hoping that it would work and charge up to 100%, but the new battery is having exactly the same problem as the original old one! It will only charge up to 45%, then it says plugged in not charging. The battery light is again always blinking white.

What do I do? How can this be fixed? What's going on?

Appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

check the warranty is still active, as thats one route you could take with a relatively new laptop.

also, try uninstalling the energy management and restart the system and check for the issue. also try uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI from the device manager and restart the system and check for the issue. for more info on this action see this thread in the link:

The issue has been progressive over a few months. When the ac adapter is plugged into the laptop, the blue LED lights for a second then changes to amber. After a few seconds the LED goes off. On the screen the battery stsus icon will show the AC symbol while the LED is ON but it goes away whn the LED goes off. The battery does not charge. I have a new battery. I have another g6 laptop (uses the same battery) that i can charge the batteries in and the AC adapter works flawlessly in that laptop. After the LED goes out I have to remove the AC adapter plug from the laptop and wait a few minutes. Then when i plug the AC adapter plug back into the laptop power socket the cycle repeats; blue LED 1 seocnd, amber LED a few seconds, AC icon on battery status indicator,  LED off, AC icon disappears, battery does not charge. Two different AC adapters, two different batteries (one new and one older - both genuine hp batteries). If I leave the AC adapter plugged into the laptop the LED will not come back on and the AC icon never reappears. I must remove the AC plug from the laptop for a period of time to restart the cycle (short). When the issue started the cycle of charging was longer and it slowely over time has reduces to this few seconds. It seems maybe something in the charge circuit is overheating? The laptop will not run from the AC adapter without a charged battery installed, when this issue atrated it would run from jsut the AC for some time now the AC only "works" for a few ... Read more

But, as soon as I unplug the charger the battery drains quickly or shuts off immediately. Other times, the battery will hold its charge and stay on for a few hours. It's very intermittent, it seems like the laptop has trouble reading the actual battery level. I have tried everything already recommended on this forum, reinstalled drivers, reset the battery guage through Energy Manager. After some light searching I have not found anything that is quite similar enough to my problem to be helpful... though I have probably missed a good amount of info.

I have been using my HP dv7 laptop for about 2 years now. It has been a beastly laptop so far able to play almost any game on battery for a good amount of time or stay charged for light use for long periods of time.

A few days ago for the first time ever my laptop just straight up shut down instantaneously while I was in class. I remembered the battery being around 55% when it shut down.

I pressed the power button and it turned back on so I thought it was just a weird system hiccup but when it started to get to the bios it shut down again. Weird.

When I got back to my place I charged it back up full and then unplugged it and the same thing happened around 50%.

It happens around the same percentage each time. From this I would suspect a bad battery which happened to my last laptop but I am able to get it to boot for about 5 seconds after it dies and I turn it back on but then it just shuts off again. Also when I plug it back in after a sudden power off, it shows that the battery is still around 50%. So strange to me but maybe someone has a clue what is going on or can help me out. Thank you.

I would think if the battery was the problem, the laptop should still be working with the charger in? I have tried calling support line several times with no answer, the warranty has gone out and I forgot where i bought the laptop sadly. This just started happening recently. The power indicator light (near the power plug) does not turn on and Windows does not recognize when the adapter is plugged in; the power icon and cusomized power saving "on battery" behavior reflect that. HOWEVER, the battery does charge. The "lightning bolt" charging light on the front between HDD and system power lights comes on and the battery recharges if not at 100%. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? Is it more likely a Windows or hardware problem? The BIOS does not have the power adapter test mentioned here, and I could not find the software download for the Smart Adapter functionality (this laptop was installed with clean, non-OEM OS, so any OEM software had to be added manually). Thanks in advance,Kyle

A:HP G62 battery icon shows: plugged in, not charging

Hi Mel, Try the following. First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the notebook on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the notebook again.  Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all. Regards, DP-K

Hello Vamsi_Ramineedi,  Welcome to FORUM !! It could be either the battery itself or the battery connecting port on the laptop. Try to update the BIOS to the latest available on the HP driver page for your model and see if that works.http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv6-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/508...   If your PC is still under warranty, I strongly recommend you to Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance without any delay to get your Notebook diagnosed and serviced by an authorized HP Certified Engineer as this could be a hardware issue. Verify the warranty status here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty     Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

It looks like we can add the Yoga 15 to the list of badly designed Lenovo models with battery issues.  I just got my Yoga 15 on Monday, and by Thursday the battery was continually saying "plugged in not charging."  It's still running on AC power, but the battery is gradually diminishing.  I'm using Windows 10 64 and haven't installed any other power or fan management software. I haven't seen any other mentions of Yoga 15's with this problem, so if anyone has a solution for this model, I'd be grateful.  There is no OneKey software on this machine, so the solutions offered for the Yoga 3 don't apply here. If you're thinking of buying a Yoga 15, caveat emptor.

And now more fun: when I called tech support, they told me I don't have a warranty, not even the standard warranty that all Lenovo PCs ship with (I bought direct from Lenovo). Like I said, if you're thinking about buying a Yoga 15, there might be better options out there.  Better companies ,too.

Is there any reason my Yoga won't charge the battery over 59%? It says plugged in but not charging? I tried charging it with the laptop off but that didn't seem to help. Please help!!!

Go to Solution.

A:Yoga won't charge battery over 59%

It's the Lenovo Energy Management settings.Go to Control Panel >> Power Options >> Change plan settings >> Change advanced power settings >> Lenovo Energy Management >> Enable Lenovo Energy Management.Change the battery setting from "Optimized Battery Health" to "Maximum Battery Life." By only partially charging the battery, the software is prolonging the lifespan of the battery itself.  This is true of all laptop batteries.  If you often leave your computer plugged in, it's best to keep this setting enabled.  If you can anticipate your mobile useage in advance, you can just turn off the feature at appropriate times. It would be nice if the setting was easier to change.  If somebody knows an easier way, feel free to post it.I suppose you could always put a shortcut to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\Energy Management\Energy Management.exe" on your start screen, taskbar or desktop.  Alternatively, you could put a shortcut on the desktop, assign a hotkey to it, and super-hide the shortcut (a little more advanced).

I've bought this Z40 70 laptop in 2015. It's been charging fine until June 2018, not sure what happened all of a sudden it just stopped charging at 1 or 2 percent even after charging for hours. It just goes off the moment i remove the Adapter pin.Initially i thought the battery has gone and looked for replacement, but could not do so being in tour and so used my laptop by directly plugging the adapter. But after i came back, just thought of looking for replacement battery and googled for it, later i came to know this is something else and not the battery issue. Then i looked fr the solutions and tried as below.   I even tried to uninstal and reinstal the drivers of adapter and battery but the problem remains same, further i tried to update BIOS, but cld not do so as it saks the battery to be 30%, find pic attached, help me out at the earliest, thanks in advance.

A:My Lenovo Z40-70 Battery not charging, shows plugged in but stuck at 1%,

Hi rennaveen,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
If you have tried the steps mentioned here, them you can proceed following the hardware manual (page 21) for checking operational charge.
Using the battery indicator LED as reference, we expect that it shows amber (the battery has between 5% and 20% charge). Without powering the laptop, have it connected to the charger for 2-3 hours and notice if the battery indicator light would change to blinking white (battery has between 20% and 80% charge) then solid white (80%).
If there is no change then perhaps you can have it checked with any local service center to test the battery integrity first.
Update us ow it goes.

Non-removable battery laptop shows plugged in not charging when in use, and charges only when its switched off or hibernating. All solutions ask me to take battery out, but I cannot. System test gave this error code- 9GAL40-81M8JM-GXGK6J-C0BF03. Please reply ASAP.

A:Non-removable battery, shows plugged in, not charging. Error...

The battery must be replaced. Please provide the Product or Model number of the laptop. There is no x300 I assume you mean x360 but there are many models called x360 and the batteries are different. On most replacement of the battery is possible by an end user.

So, my issue that ive looked everywhere for a solution to is this.  I was about to give this laptop to someone and I reformatted the hard drive to clean it up before doing so.  After this I went to dells site and loaded up the drivers for this machine.  All is fine up till this point.  Then I updated the bios to the newest version a12, and all went fine.

Well, later that day I needed to unplug the laptop and go to a different room and It just turned off after I unplugged it.  It wouldnt turn on with battery power either.  Plugged it back in and it loads fine but the battery is stuck on 36 percent charge and says not charging.  Now im getting a message saying the battery needs to be replaced as well, which is *** because I know that the battery was working just fine before this day.  Not only that why wont a battery with 36 percent charge turn on the laptop?  Its got the flashing red battery symbol when powered on with the ac adapter but without the computer on, but still plugged in, the battery doesnt charge or have any lights.

I have already tried the uninstalling of the acpi trick, as well as the taking the battery out while its running, or taking it out purging the power and reseating.  Ive tried all the common tricks to no avail.  Not sure whats going on but I know this battery was good, and it still says 36 percent but wont charge and wont power the laptop on.  Hope someone can help.

Thanks Gary

A:DELL VOSTRO 3500 BATTERY ISSUE (not charging and wont power on computer with charge) HELP!

First check:  make sure the BIOS (F2 at powerup) recognizes the AC adapter.  If it does not, the battery will not charge.
If the AC adapter is not recognized, try another Dell OEM adapter.  If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack:
And if that doesn't solve the problem, replace the mainboard.
If the AC adapter IS recognized, but the battery will not charge, unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Try again -- if the battery still won't charge, odds are the battery itself is bad.
If the battery is original to the system, it's about four years old - well past its expected lifespan.
