T450 Internal Battery "not available for use" in W...

Q: T450 Internal Battery "not available for use" in W...

Hi all, I recently acquired a very-nearly-new Thinkpad T450 (i5 5300, 8GB) but I have found that under Windows 10 power options it shows the removable battery at 100% (after charging) but the internal battery is "not available for use". I have checked the BIOS for options to activate it without success. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Thanks, Tim

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a very lightly used T450 laptop and the internal battery #1 is not being recognized by the laptop.  I have read in other forums on other devices that the connection might be loose.  It is under warranty but I have no Lenovo service center near me. How difficult is it to access battery #1 inside the laptop to check on the connections?  Is there a detailed diagram / instructions someone can point me to?  If I do this, will it invalidate my warranty (I have nearly two years left). Thanks.

A:T450 battery #1

here's the manual:

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/t450s_hmm_en_sp40g54937_01.pdf

There is no way the battery can become disconnected by itself.  The connection is very secure.  If you remove the bottom cover, the internal battery is obvious and easy to access.  You won't affect the warranty unless you break something taking it apart or removing parts

It is just like my Thinkpad T450 can't see more than one battery. If I click the battery icon I can see that battery 1 is 100 % and full charged but it is like it is battery 2 which is used and when it is below 20 % warning pops up. Battery 1 is still at 100 %. Lenovos test program find both batteries ok and the cycle count for the main battery is 129 and the secondary battery is 400. I am not quite sure which battery is the main battery. Have others experienced this? Using T450 and Windows 10 with latest updates. Peter

Does anyone know if it's possible to acquire this part online? I noticed yesterday that the number 2 battery release slider on my T450 was split in half along its length. I have absolutely no idea how this happened as I'm very gentle with the machine. Here's the working latch and the latch with the broken piece removed. The mechanism inside looks fine, I just need a new plastic bit I think. ??

Hello,After shutting down with my battery around <12% when I next tried to boot my power button flashed 3 times and the laptop failed to power up.  I reset the CMOS and my laptop worked again. However, when ever I shutdown or suspended the laptop the power would reboot and the machine would turn back on by itself a couple of seconds later. I have now updated the BIOS but this did not help, nor did turning off wake up from LAN. I once removed the battery but this resulted in my original issue and I had to reset the CMOS again. Now aftering disabling the battery in BIOS, I am again unable to boot even after plugging in the power cable. This time resetting CMOS has not worked in getting my laptop to boot. Now I am also seeing the keyboard lights for fn, mute and mute mic all lit up even when the battery is removed and the power cable is unplugged.  Can I get it to boot again, given the CMOS trick no longer works? Thank You

I recently bought a new T450 which originally had Windows 7 installed. After getting it I upgraded to Windows 10. I've noticed that the battery charges correctly when it's mostly charged, but if I am not plugged in and both batteries (internal + external) get low, then I plug the machine it, the battery won't charge. The system tray will say "Plugged in, not charging" and the power light will constantly blink (sometimes consistent rapid blinks, sometimes long-short blinks). I bought a second external battery with the machine. When I'm in this state, if I swap to the fresh battery the computer will instantly start charging correctly. If I leave the machine charging for a while (15-30 min) then swap in the depleted battery, it will now start charging correctly. It seems as though if I didn't have the second battery I might in a really bad spot. FWIW I've tried installing "Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 10" and the "Lenovo Settings" app for Windows 10 that has controls for the battery. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on here? Should I downgrade back to Windows 7? Thanks in advance.

My T450 has an issue with the battery sometimes charges 100% but sometimes only 60% I already recalibrated twice but always got the same result if charge 100% only get 2 hours of charge. The battery has an internal and a extra battery that suppously gives me 8 hours in full charge. Is this an issue with the driver o with the battery? Thanks for the help.

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

Please reply to this post if you are experiencing the following discharging problem, or would have a perfect solution to it. Many thanks in advance  When on battery, the Internal Battery discharges First, then, the External Battery. I got the machine around a week ago, and my internal battery has already gone through 8 cycles (when reviewed through the Thinkpad Vantage App). Yet, the external batter has only gone through 1 cycle. Given the ease of replacing the external battery, and that Thinkpad advertised a "hot swap" battery bridge feature, I do not find a rational for the current discharging behavior. There is a relevant posts on Reddit, but draining both of my batteries does not get things back to normal.External link: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/83vqj5/t480_internal_battery_draining_first/

Hi, Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ). If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery. If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery. Regards, DP-K

It will be somewhere on the motherboard. It's a flat round battery like those in a watch only larger. On some older PCs, the battery is soldered to the motherboard so you may need to take it to a shop to have it replaced if that's the case.

Okay, so I've been having a few programs with my computer...this including slowness, poor wifi connections, and odd performance of wacom tablets.

The problems with a tablet are described in more detail here--> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1...ml#post1658350

Recently, before I signed into windows, a message on a black screen popped up stating something about my internal battery needing to be replaced. I'm on an HP pavilion laptop // HP pavilion entertainment PC.

Could the problems I mentioned above be related to the battery? I desperately need to be able to use my tablets for my major in college, and are majorly concerned with how they've been acting poorly with my laptop...could just replacing the battery work?

Also, would the 'internal battery' still be the battery that is capable of being removed from the laptop? Or does a laptop of two batteries?

A:"Internal battery" notices..what problems could a low battery cause?

This is the CMOS battery it is talking about. It should be replaced asap. But this is not a do it yourself job in a laptop. Better have some expert deal with it.

The most common MB battery is a CR-2032 Lithium. Usually found at most Drug stores, WalMart, etc. Arround $2. That would be a cheap test to try first.

But also double check all your other power connections, but it could be the PSU failure , also.

It would help to know your laptop model. But I would say the "internal" is the CMOS or Real Time Clock battery. That is why I ask your model because it is unusual to see one of those die in less than 5 years. The model of the laptop would also allow us to show you how to replace the internal battery. It can be quite a job although the little battery (like a hearing aid battery) is very inexpensive usually.

A:Internal Battery Error (601)

Can we have your full model number? I think the error you are seeing refers to the "main", large battery and not the little clock or CMOS battery. Is your system closed so that the battery is not easily removeable? The full model number will point us to the right service manual which will show the part you need and the replacement process. Also need to know what country you live in.  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00033108

Hello, When on battery power, my X260's internal battery is discharging before the external battery. I am using Windows 10 Home and bios is 1.19 (what it came shipped with). I haven't found any definite solution to this problem--only comments from others where the problem went away eventually. I've had the computer for 10 days and have tried many suggestions but nothing is working--the internal battery continues to drain first before the external one. I'm hesitant to call or get support because I don't want to send the computer in or have a tech rip the computer apart for what is apparently a software/firmware issue. Just to add: all drivers are updated and battery performance is perfectly normal--I get the expected run times. It's just the internal battery is draining first and then the external one second. I would appreciate any other suggestions or a fix. Thanks
