Microsoft .NET Alerts v5.02: SDK and Developer Edition: Apr 23

Q: Microsoft .NET Alerts v5.02: SDK and Developer Edition: Apr 23

Hiya

Microsoft® .NET Alerts is a message and notification routing service that makes delivering customer communications easy and helps avoid the negative perceptions associated with junk e-mail. Content providers can send messages to customers who choose to receive them. Alerts are routed to Microsoft Windows® desktops, cellular phones, wireless personal digital assistants (PDAs), or any e-mail address—all based on the customer's delivery preferences.

Getting Started
Follow these steps to get started with .NET Alerts:
Download both the .NET Alerts Software Development Kit (SDK) and the .NET Alerts Developer Edition. Read the SDK documentation that is included with the SDK to learn about implementing .NET Alerts. Using the included tools and emulators, you can start building .NET Alerts applications right away.
To participate in the .NET Alerts program as an alerts provider, you must request and sign a .NET Services Agreement (see Related Resources).
Get free support from .NET Alerts experts at the .NET Alerts Online Community.

.NET Alerts Software Development Kit (SDK)
The SDK provides several components that help you implement .NET Alerts on your Web site. These components include:

.NET Alerts Service Guide Kit Documentation—all the information you need to implement .NET Alerts.
.NET Alerts Client Library—a set of objects that simplify the creation and transmission of alerts.
Tools and samples that simplify development.

.NET Alerts Developer Edition
Microsoft .NET Alerts Developer Edition is a set of service emulators designed to work with the .NET Alerts SDK. These emulators enable developers to create and test .NET Alerts implementations locally, without interacting with the .NET Alerts Preproduction (PREP) servers. The .NET Alerts Developer Edition can also be used to create self-contained alerts demonstrations. The .NET Alerts Developer Edition includes a subscription mirroring emulator and a .NET Alerts routing engine and pop-up message emulator.
System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Linux, Solaris, Unix, Windows 2000 Service Pack 3, Windows XP

The Microsoft .NET Alerts protocol is based on XML and HTTP POST operations. Consequently, you can implement alerts with Linux, Solaris, or any other operating system that supports posting XML documents with HTTP POST operations.
The .NET Alerts Developer Edition 5.02 requires Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.0 or later, and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 with Service Pack 2, or version 5.01 or later.

The .NET Alerts client library (msnotify.dll) requires a server running Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Microsoft® Windows® XP.

For an optimal experience, the client computer should have either Microsoft® Windows® Messenger or MSN® Messenger installed.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just bought a Dell xps developer edition (Ubuntu 16.04).  And the hardware is amazing, but Dell appears to have done some stuff to Ubuntu that makes no sense to me.
When I press ctrl+alt+up, down, left, right
By default it moves the current windows I have open around. Every so often, it changes workspaces, but pretty rarely. I don't care anything about having the grid, assuming this is what's breaking the workspaces. I use workspaces regularly.
I downloaded ccsm, but I can't find anything that's bound to the keybindings I specified. Also, unchecking the grid functionality didn't help.
I was able to find [this thread](ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php, that confirms the grid answer, and when I unbind the keys instead of removing grid all together the window movement no longer happens, but the workplace changes don't happen still.
The only other thing I've done to make this laptop more tolerable is remove some [ridiculous dell software that seems to have no real purpose](askubuntu.com/.../dell-developer-edition-ubuntu-14-04-super-key-not-working). I'd love to make a guide on how to make this incredibly expensive laptop that seemed like a great idea, actually work with Ubuntu's key features.

I have a few questions about XPS 13, don't really know where else to ask them as distributors in my country haven't been able to answer them:

Is there any difference in hardware with XPS 13 and XPS 13 Developer edition?
If there is no difference and I remove Win10 from XPS 13 and install Ubuntu, where can I find the drivers that are already preloaded on XPS 13 Developer Edition?
XPS 13 Developer Edition is listed as available in North America and Europe - I'm from Croatia, Europe and for a few months now I've been given negative replies from distributors on my availability inquires saying the model is not available and they don't know when it will be available. Is there a number I can call for Dell EU to get more information on this?

Thanks!

Hi Dell,
I was very excited to get my beautiful xps 13 9360 developer edition yesterday.  I immediately ran 'sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade', installed and switched to the gnome desktop, and started a big rsync job to get my files over from my old computer.  I haven't done any other setup other than for applications.
Sadly, the laptop has been very glitchy in less than a day of usage.  So far:
* the lack of palm detection for the touchpad constantly causes the cursor to jump, but there seems to be no fix for this from an hour of googling;
* the system crashed once (music started stuttering and everything was unresponsive);
* my headphones don't work when I plug them in (music continues to play through the internal speakers) -- some googling points to some fiddling that may fix this problem;
* the wifi has died twice after suspend and had to be turned off / on;
* the trackpad pointer has become unresponsive twice, requiring a reboot to get it working again;
* after leaving the computer on over night to run the rsync, I found the wifi had died again in the morning, but I had to reboot the computer to get it working this time.
I have run the boot diagnostics, and they report that everything is working fine (still waiting for the memory test to finish).
What's up with this?  I was a long time linux on the desktop guy, moved to macbooks for several years,  and was very excited to get back onto linux, but hopefully without the ... Read more

The centers of the C and left Ctrl keys are over three inches apart.  I keep hitting the Fn key when I mean to hit Ctrl.
There's no option in the BIOS to remap Fn to Ctrl.  The kernel doesn't see Fn keypresses at all, so I can't remap at the OS level.  And this is a laptop marketed to developers?  What a joke!!
Does anyone know how to fix the keyboard?  I don't want to re-learn how to type.
I really, really, really want to like this computer.  It's a beautiful machine, but between the absurd keyboard design and the coil whine I'm thinking about sending it back.

Any tips?  I'm not interested in mapping Caps Lock to Ctrl.  My Caps Lock is mapped to Esc.

So my friend LordJohnx3 and I have created a halo clan, we have a few members and such, our own youtube channel, etc, and now we want to create a server for our clan. To have moderation/admin powers, you have to have Halo Custom Edition Devmode. I enabled devmode, but you can only create a LAN game with it on. So I downloaded this devmode tool, from hce.halomaps.org, AllDevHaloCE by bitterbanana, which is supposed to allow me to create an internet game without turning devmode off. The problem is, I can't turn the tool on when I'm in or outside of Halo.

Does anybody have any expirence with this or know how to help me?

What is strange, is the behaviour of the fan changes when the battery light is blinking, and it seems at time moment that the fan works correctly since the noise disappears remarkably.

Hi, i have an XPS 13 Developer Edition (so with Ubuntu 14.04), about 4 months old, probably a bit less, and suddenly i have this problem: as soon as the battery percentage reaches 83%, the status switches to "discharging", the led on the front turns off, and turns back on only as soon as a little percentage of battery gets consumed; this on-off cycle goes on and on, as the laptop thinks he is fully charged at 83%. I'm sure it's not just a wrong shown percentage problem, like it shows 83% but it's actually 100%, since the battery does last just exactly as it did with 80%, and not like 100%.
What can i do to solve this problem?
Thank you

a complete reset of Windows. They sent me back to Microsoft, but as we know, that is like being told to go play in the traffic. The only proposed solutions I have seen so far are for the Pro edition, although I notice that customers with the Home edition have
been complaining for years. I don't have access to gpedit.msc, so what am I to do? Hopefully some king soul will provide a workable solution for Windows Home. Thank you for your help.

Hello all,

my browser first asks me to sign in and click which account I would like to use. I click my desired account, and it briefly redirects to the Microsoft Developer API Access page, but then after a split-second it redirects me back to the sign-in page. Is it
a requirement to have a specific type of email associated with the Microsoft account in order to get past this?

Thank you for your help!

Hello again,

I found out that these extensions are supposed to make it where I can export my access databases as .exe files. This would be great, since then I could just have a .exe for ones in the office to run, so that no one could edit forms, tables, etc.

Now, I googled it, and got this site. I can't seem to find where to actually download it however.

Is this a good fix for what I am wanting to do? This way, everyone in the office wouldn't have to have access, they could just run the .exe, and that would allow them to use the forms just as they would if they had the database itself.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hey everybody

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but just can't seem to get it to work right.

I have the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions, which has a packaging wizard, that is used to package up a Access database and include a runtime environment, so users without access on their computer can use a database.

I have access on the computer in my office, so I take the file I want to package, and run the wizard, creating a setup file for the database and runtime. Now, I go over to the server, run the setup program, and have it installed on the server.

I can run the database on the server fine. I open it up, it runs in runtime mode, just as the package wizard said it should, and I can do whatever I want. The problem I am having is, I try to create a share, so that I can share this program with users on the network.

When I do this, it just doesn't work right. It is saying that it can't find the file "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ifg_agent_database\ifg_agents_modified_10_13_05.mdb"

Any ideas on what is going on?

Microsoft Cor
Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday reported five new security flaws in its software, including one of "critical" severity that affects nearly all programs in its Office suite of software.

The critical vulnerability could allow an attacker to read files on a victim's computer, run programs or otherwise seize control.

Unlike the flaw that was exploited by the recent Blaster or LovSan worm _ which could attack computers even if the user did nothing _ a successful attack would require the user to open a tainted e-mail attachment.

The flaw appears in nearly all programs included in Microsoft Office 97, 2000 and XP _ Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. It also affects other programs that use Microsoft Visual Basic technology, including its Visio 2000, 2002 and Project 2000 and 2002.

The other four vulnerabilities affect Microsoft Office, Access, Word and Windows, and include flaws of lower severity.

Microsoft has disclosed 38 security flaws so far this year.

Microsoft Issues First Security Alerts For Third-Party Apps.

Monthly or quarterly advisories on deck in the near-term, and Microsoft will only disclose an unfixed bug and offer workarounds if attacks hit

Microsoft yesterday officially joined the ranks of security firms that publish vulnerability discoveries they find in other vendors' products, with its first-ever security advisory disclosing two bugs in Google's Chrome browser and one in the open-source Opera browser.

Meanwhile, Microsoft didn't waver on its policy of not publicly reporting software vulnerabilities before a vendor has either patched the flaws or gone public with them: both Google and Opera had fixed them before Microsoft went public.

For example when I install my windows 7 x64 Betas it found and installed the drivers for my chipset and everything fine. However browsing my Motherboard manufactures website I see they Drivers for chipset, audio, and other components I can download.

Would you recommend I stick with Microsoft drivers or use the drivers on the developers site?

A:Developer Drivers Vs Microsoft Built In Drivers?

If there's no seven drivers from mfg, stick with MS's.

If there is seven drivers from mfg, stick with mfg's.

If there's no seven drivers from either MS or MFG throw vista/xp drivers.

That's what I'm doing so far.

Three days ago, my system got infected with a fake microsoft security alert virus stating that your computer is infected with multiple trojans, so correct it immediately. I tried closing the message, but it did not close. I downloaded Avast antivirus initially, and after the scan it showed there were multiple high risk infections in the system. I cleaned it. I also tried the rogue kill along with Malwarebytes. I don't know whether the infection has been removed, but still my web page is being redirected frequent number of times especially after using google search. Occasionally, I feel there is also some bizzare behaviour by the system, like in the midst of work it gets stuck for a long period of time. Also, after running the gmer.exe , couple of times, the system restarted with a blue screen stating that the system recovered from a serious error.Kindly help me with the issue.Thanks....DDS (Ver_10-03-17.01) - NTFSx86 Run by usha at 3:04:53.58 on Fri 10/01/2010Internet Explorer: 6.0.2900.5512 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_20Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.639.180 [GMT -4:00]AV: avast! Hello,

I received quite a few "Reconnaissance using directory services queries" ATA alerts.

Around the time when the alerts were created (time in the Excel files for the alerts) the following three processes were fired away on the source machine:

Service Name: Active Directory Domain Services
Service File Name: %SystemRoot%\System32\lsass.exe

Service Name: Active Directory Web Services
Service File Name: %systemroot%\ADWS\Microsoft.ActiveDirectory.WebServices.exe

Process Name: C:\Windows\System32\wbem\WmiPrvSE.exe
Access Request Information:
Accesses: ReadData (or ListDirectory)

Do you know if these processes might, by any chance, enumerate lots of users in a domain or at least ATA might seem this that way?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,
MSSOC

Hiya

Microsoft Windows CE .NET just got smarter and faster! With the release of Windows CE .NET 4.2 Emulation Edition, a minor update to Windows CE .NET Emulation Edition, you can design and prototype platforms and applications for Windows CE .NET using a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional workstation without additional hardware investments.

Notes:

Developers who want to target specific supported microprocessors or hardware development platforms should instead order the Microsoft Windows CE .NET Evaluation Version.
To benchmark Windows CE .NET, or evaluate all features of the product, you should target a physical hardware device using the Evaluation Kit or Full product version. The Emulator does not support all hardware, nor does it reflect the true performance of a device based on Windows CE .NET.

Product Features:

Platform Builder for Windows CE .NET 4.2
Emulation Board Support Package (BSP) Support (including retail and debug binaries)
Latest Emulator Technology (including Virtual Switch Networking support, faster performance, drive mapping support, and Optomized DMA support)
Shared Source for Windows CE .NET 4.2 Source Code (including integrated Source Browsing and the CE Test Kit Source)
Software Development Kit

What Can You Do with the Emulation Edition?

Windows CE .NET offers powerful new features that enable developers to rapidly prototype smart mobile devices. For those that are interested in evaluating Windows CE .NET 4.2 and either don't ... Read more

In "My Documents" I have a file called "Microsoft Windows_7_64-bit Edition.vbox" which contains a large 655Gb virtual disk file.

I am not sure how this got here, it maybe something to do with my upgrade to Windows 10 and revert to Windows 7 as had problems with windows 10 some months ago.

My question is can I delete this file without incurring any problems?

I recently bought Microsoft Office Student Teacher Edition 2003, and I noticed that the programs allow you to e-mail what you are working directly to someone (this will be helpful for Power Point, because not all of the media you use gets embedded into the powerpoint file when you save it) so I have AOL e-mail and want to set up my e-mail address so I can use it with Outlook and other Microsoft Office Programs. Does anyone know how? I especially need this for Power Point because if I attatch the Power Point file to an e-mail the music and video in presentations dosen't go with it.

nevermind about setting the accounts up. i already did that, now my problem is that i can't run Outlook! i click on it and instead of getting Outlook, i get a little message that days "The Operation Failed"
