Z70-80 Win10 Home windows signon won't go away

Q: Z70-80 Win10 Home windows signon won't go away

I do not want the initial windows login, the one that appears directly after power up. Netplwiz is blank where asking if users should be required to login. Login is disabled in some other place (I forget ) as well. Yet I have to enter my name and a PIN every time this powers up. Please steer me to place this can be permanently disabled. Thanks~

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a computer with W10 and it has two accounts.  One of the accounts signs  on to the local server and the other user account signs on to another([email protected])  The latter userid brings up all the icons on the desktop with all the
apps he uses but does not sign on to the local server which then gives them access to the local network.  But when the local server id signs on, he then doesn't get the appl icons on his desktop.  How do I "combine" the two.
I'm too tired to figure it out by reading all the forums and support info.
Thanks

I would like to upgrade my OS from win10 home to win10 pro. As my pc is still under warranty I assume that I have to go through Dell to do this.
I have tried Sales who referred me to Tech Support, who the referred me back to Sales!!
All I need to know is can I do this, where do I download the key/installer and how much is it?
Any ideas?

A:How do I upgrade my OS from win10 home to win10 pro?

Normally, you go to the Microsoft store and purchase an upgrade license.  The upgrade is not a new install, but an upgrade from within Win 10.
After that is done, you will have a License registered for the Pro version and from then on you will be able to do a clean install of the Pro version.
Once you do that, the Dell recovery options may not work correctly, but I haven't actually tried it.  I have use the Win 10 recovery drive to go back to factory specs.

I'm downloading a fresh iso from Tech Bench using method 1 on this tutorial Windows 10 ISO Download everything I see indicates a single iso from either Tech Bench (method 1) or using the MCT (method 2) has both Home and Pro editions. If this is the case then I only need one USB W10 x64 iso to cover both editions, and as a boot option to repair if needed.

I have four computers, my desktop, and laptop with W10 Home and Pro 64x, my wife has two laptops still on Win7, one Home and one Pro both 64x. The laptop with Win7 Pro is getting W10 today, I'm downloading the Tech Bench iso right now to have it if the "Upgrade Now" choice fails on method 2 of the tutorial above.

TIA for any replies, just want to make sure what I read is how it works.

A:Are Win10 Home and Pro editions on the same iso?

Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro is included in the same ISO file. You need to install/upgrade to either one, that is supported to your existing windows version.

If the ISO is already downloaded, I personally find the "upgrade now" way is slower than the Point 7 on this Tutorial:

7. To Upgrade to Windows 10 with an ISO file
A) If you have not already, you will need to download a Windows 10 ISO file.

B) In Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, mount the ISO file, and go to step 9 below.

C) In Windows 7, you will need to extract the files in the ISO to a new folder on your desktop, open the folder, and go to step 9 below.

Hello,

Just got a new Lenovo laptop with Win-10 Home to replace my older Win-7Pro laptop.

This laptop has a whole bunch of junk software that Lenovo has installed.

I was wondering what the best way is:
- backup the system so in case I need to, I can reset to factory configuration
- wipe out everything on HDD
- install Win-10 from scratch and only programs that I need

Any pointers/suggestions would be appreciated.

Final question - can I install Win-7 pro on this laptop with my older license (old laptop is no longer being used) and use the free upgrade to upgrade to Win-10 Pro?

Thank you for your assistance.

A:Fresh install on new laptop w/Win10-Home

Hi,
1. Back up of everything: periodic disk imaging is the way to go.. I prefer Aomei Backupper (free is good)- many prefer the free version of Macrium Reflect although this lacks incremental imaging, being a version of an excellent commercial product.
2. Try this to remove unwanted stuff conveniently:
The PC Decrapifier
(Says it works with Win 10)
I used it a long time ago.. a neat convenience tool.

A clean install means getting and creating the installation medium and 2+ hours to install.

I think the answer to your last is yes, unless it's an OEM license.

My icons stay where they are, and what's set to be on my desktop, but the image goes black. Is there a way that anyone can help me? I don't know if it's Samsung's fiddling with it, or otherwise, but it's truly, properly irritating.

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 3650 with Win10 Home installed. I didn't buy the Win10 Pro version from Dell because I had a Retail copy of Win7 Pro that I was going to install and then upgrade to Win10 Pro. What happens every time (on my third clean Win7 Pro install try now) is that my fully licensed and activated Win7 Pro machine wants to "upgrade" to Win10 Home.

This is not my first rodeo. I have upgraded many of the machines here from Win7 Pro and Ultimate to Win10 Pro without a problem. This includes Vostro 260s, Optiplex 3020s and Inspiron 3847s. This Inspiron 3650 has been a problem from day 1. I've even done a few friends Win7 Home to Win10 Home upgrades on various machines without problem. Does Bitlocker support single sign-on?
In our environment (WinXP) a smartcard is required to login. We
have an older disk encryption solution "SafeBoot" but are replacing it with another solution with a move to Windows 7 Enterprise and the Gemalto .NET smartcard. A contractor has recommended  McAfee Endpoint Encryption however in-house
tests discovered the McAfee product doesn't support single sign-on with a smart card on Windows 7.  That is, a user is prompted for their smartcard PIN twice. Once for disk encryption and once to login to Windows. This limitation has been confirmed by
McAfee. Our current implementation of disk encryption has the authentication integrated so the user is not prompted twice which makes us wonder if the McAfee product is right for us. Does bitlocker support single signon?

A:BitLocker single signon?

BitLocker has no relation with the logged on user for decryption. Encryption is system wide and can be unlocked with a system PIN, a system USB or just the TPM in the system. The only user integration I have ever seen is an internal MS development that tracked
the number of failed logons to remove the key material from the TPM.
Short answer: no BitLocker does not have a single signon option in Windows 7.Ray - Author of Windows 7 for XP Professionals

I recently got a SSD and just installed Win7 on it. I had 99 windows updates which were installed yesterday.

When the updates were done and it restarted, I tried to sign on. The image and password box disappeared like normal, but I still saw the sign on page background and it never made it to the desktop, so I did a hard shutdown. I was able to sign in just fine after this. I played some games and a few hours later, I shut it down. It froze with the message "Shutting Down..." on the screen and never made it. Another hard shutdown.

I was able to sign in and shutdown just fine after restarting.

One thing to note is that I ran a theme patcher before the updates (wasn't aware they were being downloaded). This changes shsvcs.dll, themeui.dll, and uxtheme.dll. I'm assuming these aren't changed in the updates. Maybe they are.

I was wondering if anyone might know what caused this. Should I restore to before the updates? I'm going to check the error logs when I get home to see if something happened at either of these times. I'm thinking I might run "sfc /scannow" as well just to be sure.

tl;dr - Installing 99 updates. Wasn't able to sign on afterwards. Restarted and signed on, then the OS froze on the shutdown screen. No issues since. Any ideas?

Need to add all my same friends again and update everything - seems like it should have defaulted some/more of this stuff from VF but I'll be done soon so no big deal. Maybe I'll actually do a little posting after checking out what's there.

At the moment, it's more like a chat room than a helpful forum - and I prefer to help people to just chatting (though I do like that too from time-to-time) - so I suspect I won't be doing a lot of posting there at present though that may change. I can't believe some people have hundreds of posts already - I notice John had 500!

Maybe I'll just login daily anyway to help with the online numbers (and to get messages and such).

I'll probably see you over there.

Catch you later.

Hi folks, I'm posting this one for a friend.
She has a PC that on boot up gets as far as accepting the password and loads the settings but then saves the setting and reverts to the password screen.
All was well with the PC until Norton Anti-virus was loaded. Norton found (Don't faint) 37 viruses. I think the horse had already bolted.

A:Solved: PC booting only as far as the signon screen

I had that problem recently, and fixed it by re-installing Windows.

Hi
I have a wierd issue.

I boot up and get to the logon screen, it sits there for approx 3 seconds the re-boots. If I get chance to enter password it tells me incorrect password then re-boots. I can restore system to previous point and log on fine but next time I boot it starts the reboot sequence again. I have started at last good config and it lets me log in but again on next boot it returns to re-boot sequence. I have changed RAM, I have run chkdsk /r , I have scanned with AVG & win defender (when it did boot ok).
Any ideas ??

I am sure the incorrect password is a clue to this, at first I thought a corrupt user account but I have created new and same happens. When as I said I start in last good config I use same password and all is ok ???

A:Vista keeps rebooting at signon screen

I try this first,

In the start menu go to All Programs > Accessories and then right click on Command Prompt and then "run as administrator" and allow it through UAC. when the CMD box appears type
"sfc /scannow" and it will do a scan on all system files and make sure none are corrupt and if they are it will automatically repair them.

give it ago and let me know how you get on

Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Hi,

just thought I'd let people know there is a solution to the problem of live mail opening when you go to Messenger and displaying your Live inbox without having to sign in which is pretty annoying as other people use my pc !

Just uninstall Live Essentials and reinstall just the Messenger and Photo parts (you can choose !) , it will then reinstall just those two and also the Sky Drive stuff.

So that's solved, back to using Hotmail.

I see this problem popping up frequently so hope this helps others too.

My MS account four digit pin works fine for sign in with new laptop. But anything I try involving my account elsewhere requires account verify. When entering the pin I get prompted for a seven digit pin? At the same screen, If I request a new pin via email, the request is apparently accepted but no pin is emailed.

Thanks for any advice.

A:Account pin works for signon but not for verify

Sorry, I found the problem. The email with a cryptic pin number was being mailed but was marked somewhere as spam. I'm trying to figure how a message with a title like it has, very legit looking was treated as spam. I had filtering in Kaspersky turned off so not sure how.
I will add that no way am I using such a number to save time when logging in. There is still an issue here in that my four digit pin was working during sign in.

I'm having Windows Vista home edition on my HP laptop. The issue is, after I signon as Admin or Guest, I just get a dark /balnk screen and no desktop background or any icons, no taskbar etc.

I can access task manager by pressing (ALT+CTRL+DEL), therefore I can bring up the desktop (all icons and taskbar, system tray, quick launch) by initiating the task (explorer.exe) manually from New Task tab.

Please help to get rid of this issue.

Thanks,
Paresh.

Our computer has mysteriously acquired an unknown password and refuses any signon. We have purposely omitted any signon password (hit return at prompt) because our computers are secure. So the spontaneous injection of a password is problematical. We have tried most recently internally used passwords for applications (starting with the most recent) but nothing works. Short of calling Microsoft does anyone have a suggestion?

I just bought this computer/tablet and have had it for 2 days. It started up right away and worked fine. Later in the day, I went to use it, I was able to sign on, but then the screen went black - still plugged in. The next day, it started up just fine and I was able to sign on and use the machine, but later in the day the same thing happened - able to sign on but got a black screen. Today, I have tried numerous times and was able to actually get a screen once and tried to troubleshoot on the HP website and my browser shut down and I have not been able use it since - still able to sign on but always get a black screen. I have shut down and restarted numerous times.I really would like to be able to use this machine, but it doesn't appear too promising.Thank you.

I would like to figure out a way to disable the automatic sign in when you go to a Microsoft website like Outlook.com within IE10.
The account I am using on my Windows 8 machine for example would be :  [email protected]
But if I want to go to Outlook.com, and check my email for account:
[email protected], as soon as I connect to the website, it automatically logs me in with
[email protected]  So I have to log out, and back on as the account I want to use.  Yes I could switch my Windows 8 account over to the 2nd account, but I would be in the same boat if I wanted to check
mail for the first username.
Right now to avoid this problem I simply just have to use a browser other than IE, but I would like to see if there is someway to get IE10 not to automatically sign me in under my current Microsoft Account I have on Windows 8.  Resetting IE settings,
etc does not help.  This is something Windows 8 does by default with IE10 on every machine.

Been using Win 10, for months, one morning the wife is screaming can't login.
Toshiba laptop was displaying invalid email address as User.
Computer was originally installed with Local User Account under Win 8.

I plugged in an Emergency Boot usb, ran System Restore.
The local account sign on was restored.
After recover I created a new local user as backup, with admin role.

Guess what, couple of days later the Start Button of original local user stopped working,
I was able to use backup user, and problem went away.

Friend just drop off her laptop, with invalid Microsoft Account as user.
Tried restoring System Restore back one prior update, no luck.
Frustrating.
The local user files are still on computer, so is local account as displayed by
wmic useraccount still show all accounts on computer.

How do i set or change user display by Winlogon??

Hi everyone,

 - Start with Vista 64-bit SP2 on PC with two drives - OS on Disk0 - working fine for years
 - Downloaded Win10 64-bit English-International ISO image from MS on 23 March
 - Installed on Disk1 as Home edition on 24 March
All works fine with dual boot Vista/Win10

 - Win10 Update arrived on 25 March (I think Win10 Cumulative Upate, but can't be sure)
 - Update installed with Shut Down on 25 March
Now fails at dual-boot time:
  PC/Device needs to be repaired
Required device isn't connected or can't be accessed
  Error code:  0xc000000e

Fortunately F9 boots Vista correctly.  I conclude that either the dual-boot is messed up OR it recognises that the Win10 OS is messed up.
I'm a hesitant to go further without expert advice as I'd hate to mess up the Vista possibilty ! ! !

Many thanks for any help - David
