Outlook 2007 Sending Email Count Does Not Match Outbox Count

Q: Outlook 2007 Sending Email Count Does Not Match Outbox Count

Configuration: Office laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) and MS Office 2007 Pro; attached to MS Exchange Server 2003 using Cached Exchange Mode. Everything was working fine until I took laptop home, connected to my home network, VPN'ed into my office, and then returned to the office. Logged on and connected to Windows Server 2003 as usual. With one email in outbox, I Send/Receive and Outlook now reports sending 3 of 3. I think I noticed while VPN'ed into the office at home that it reported sending 2 of 2 with only one email in the outbox. What's up with this??? Thanks for any guidance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Could anyone please assist me with a bit of code I can drop into a sub in MS Outlook 2007 to do two things?

I want to firstly group my inbox items by day and then secondly count the items (not concerned about counting unread within the group as I use automatic formatting to highlight unread items anyway), so I can see how many items per day I still need to look at.

I am currently using the built in function of Arrange by Date, which groups them into "Today", "Yesterday", "Last Week", etc. What I really want is to be able to group them by each day, however far back they go.

I found a bit of code but it does weird things so I don't think it's all correct. The code updates the UserProperties fields from what I can gather and applies it to existing items in your inbox. You can then add in this extra field - called DayRecieved - and group by it, which at first appeared to do the job.

What I saw however, is that the DayReceived sets all the items to a date of the day received, but converts all of the times to 00:00, which is not helpful. In addition new emails come through with no DayReceived on them at all, so Outlook can't understand this new field and gives everything no date at all. I can still use the standard "Received" field so I know when the email came in, but I really want to be able to do this grouping by day and counting the items.

Below is the code I found and have applied:

I just finished upgrading to Win7 and Outlook 2007 from WinXP/OE. I liked the way that XP/OE would show the number of UnreadMail, as my G15 keyboard will display that info on the LCD. However, with Win7/O2007, this data is not being added to the registry. My email account is not even showing up under the UnreadMail key. Any thoughts as to a way to fix this?

Hi - afraid I'm new to all this so forgive me if I mess it up
I'm running Win XP Pro and Outlook 2003 - been doing it on this machine for 12 months and on earlier machines a lot longer. ISP = Sky changed 1 month ago but running fine after changeover and have checked and rechecked the settings and they are fine. Incoming mail is ok.
There are no error messages. Working off-line is not checked, but checking it made no difference.
Emails I am sending are real simple, no big attachments and to various addresses.
I saw a bunch of similar questions from a few years ago and I tried most of the solutions from then without success. Even had a look at the Vista ones in case they might work with no success!
I don't understand why it's suddenly happened when there have been no recent changes - nu updates and I haven't been tinkering with the settings
Have contacted the ISP who have no suggestions to make except that it's nothing to do with them.
It's very annoying as I now have to send all emails via webmail as well as trying them via normail email. As I can't delete them from the outbox when the problem is solved it is likely that a large bunch of emails will suddenly be launched from the outbox and folk will be wondering why I am sending them all a load of old emails!
Any suggestions warmly received - many thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm writting on behalf of my mom. She tried sending an important file to someone but it was too heavy. It got stuck in the Outbox and now nothing is working anymore. She tried deleting the email in the Outbox. doesn't work, dragging it into the recycle bin, doesn't work. It's like if everything froze because of the email that was to heavy?!

I then told to to save her contacts and email she didn't want to loose by doing Export to a file in a folder and the uninstall MS Office completely and reinstall it.

After uninstalling it, rebooting, she starts MS Office Outlook 2007 and everything is back the same like before uninstalling it?!

Why is that?

Hope someone can help.

A:MS Outlook 2007 - Email got stuck in the Outbox

I don't know how these things work in Outlookk, but if the file is too big it could also be that her provider doesn't accept her sending such large Emails.
Uninstalling and Installing does not delete the pst file so what is in it is still there.
I would tread carefully in deleting this file.
I Googled and found the following link

Hope it helps

Hi. I am having a problem with my MS Outlook 2007 email. Anything I send to myself or copy to myself stays stuck in the "outbox". Occasionally one will actually go through, but it still appears to have not been sent as it remains in the "outbox". I have sent the same email multiple times because it didn't appear to have been sent until someone asked me why I had. The copy to myself seems to be what is hanging them up in the outbox now. I was having other issues including the size of the attachment, but I was able to resolve them with other user's question/answers. Thanks! This is still causing me a problem however. Please help! I'm frustrated!

A:MS Outlook 2007 email to self or cc'd to self stuck in outbox

The message size may still be too large as most email providers impose limits on the size of message they will allow through their servers.

To delete any which are stuck in the Outbox, switch Outlook to "Offline" mode, they should then be deletable.
Open Outlook, click File >> Work Offline
Delete message, then click File >> Work Offline again to put it back online.

Hi All,
I have spent many hours looking for a fix myself and reading the messages in this forum and after finding a solution, thought I would do the right thing and help you fix your problem.

The probelm is the Server Time setting which is set to a maximum of 1 minute by default.

This is not enough time to send the large email and thus starts to send again even though it has actually sent.

To fix this problem by increasing the Server Time Setting, please go to this very good web site for the method.

When I send e-mails in Outlook they go in my Outbox. If I immediately click Send/Receive they go immediately. But if click on the Outbox, the sealed envelope of whichever pending mail I am on changes to an open envelope and the date changes to "none". Then if I click send/receive the program goes throught the process of sending and even tells me the task was completed. But the message remains in the Iutbox and is not sent.

The only work-around I have found is to drag the mail to a different folder - e.g. Drafts - and then click Send followed by Send/Receive.

The problem basically is with any e-mail in the outbox that I click on. As soon as I click on it, the envelope opens and the e-mail can not be sent from there any more.

Any ideas?

A:Outlook 2003 sending problem e-mail sticks in Outbox if I click on the Outbox.

Once you have opened e-mail in your Outbox, you need to click on Send again. It has always been this way.

An easy way to tell which mail is ready to send is that it will typically be displayed in italics.

Is there any way to have the total page count in Word 2007 only include certain sections of a document?

For example, I have a document that contains 7 sections.

Section 1 is a cover page/outline and Section 7 is an attachment. These sections should not get included in the total page count on sections 2-6. I have scoured and found that only NumPages and SectionPages exist for pre-defined fields in word.

Here is a general outline of what I need.

Section 1: No headers/page numbers, etc... not included in total number of pages
Section 2: Starts at Page 1. Should read "Page 1 of {Total Pages in applicable sections}"
Section 3-6: Continuation of 2. Should read "Page x of {Total Pages in applicable sections}"
Section 7: No headers/page numbers, etc...not included in total number of pages

They are already set up in this way, but I can't get the total number of pages to not include Sections 1 & 7. I am familiar with VBA, but would prefer to use this as a last resort. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the selection is stored in the table, create a query based on the table with the "where did you hear from us" field and the Key field.
Set the Query to View>Totals, Group the "where did you hear from us" and Count the Key Field.
Create a form based on the new Query.

I have a query who's results look like this:

Year ProjectID:
2011 1

The goal is to make a new Access query based on this query that tells me how many UNIQUE project ID's fall under each year. So for the example above, the target query would give me this answer:

Year IDCount:
2011 2
2012 1

Thanks in advance.

You can do this using the Gouping fuction (Ribbon>Show/Hide>Totals).

Create the new query based on the original one and set the Year to Group By and the ID to Count.

I have a cumulative query that I built using Method 2 here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290136

The numbers that are being accumulated are formatted as Standard Numbers. However, the running totals themselves are formatted as text, which prevents me from adding them together (instead, they concatinate, so 10+10 = 1010 and 2+3 = 23 as if they were letters).

How can I prevent the running total from being formatted as text? It's preventing me from graphing the results of the query, since text has a value of 0.

Our environmental nonprofit has several projects, and most projects have either a marine or terrestrial conservation area. Some have neither, and have therefore been marked as "no conservation area."

Some projects also have multiple conservation areas, and they might be of the same type. So I have a table like the following:

Project ID: Conservation Category:
1 Marine
1 Marine
1 Terrestrial
2 Neither
3 Terrestrial
3 Terrestrial
4 Marine

Sorry if that's hard to read - the first column is supposed to be numerical project ID's and the second shows which type of conservation category it has.

So I need to make a query that'll give me the number of projects with Marine, Terrestrial, Both, or Neither conservation categories. But I have no idea how to approach this, since I don't know how to get a query to recognize the "Both" condition.

The query should give the following result for the example above:

Conservation Category: Count:
Marine 2
Terrestrial 2
Both 1
Neither 1

Explanation: Project 1 and 4 have marine components. Projects 1 and 3 have terrestrial components. Only project 1 has both a marine and terrestrial component. Only project 2 has has "neither" component.

Hi there,

I am using Office 365 Excel 2013, but we do not have access to the Cloud features. I think we are on
Windows 7.

What I am trying to do is create a spreadsheet for our managers to check off when a task has been completed. When they check the forms control box, the forms control box in B17 is assigned to say M17 and the word TRUE populates M17. The other form boxes are relative to the "results" cell. (Note if there is not check in the forms box then the "results" cell is either FALSE or is blank). Once all the boxes are checked, I want to change the cell color of A16 (title Accounts Payable) to green and generate an email notifying me saying Accounts Payable tasks are complete.

Here is a sample - I have also uploaded a copy of the excel document.

I realize that the email being sent out takes VBA programing and I think I have an example of this but haven't tried it yet. Is what I want to do possible? Is there a better way to go about doing this?

Thank you for the help.

A:Excel count true statements then send out an email

Are you still looking for a solution to this?

It seems possible. If you have any code (even if it's not working), please share it. Additionally, it sounds like the real bulk of the code is going to come from sending an email. The rest of it pretty much seems done or seems like one line of code.

How do you plan/want the email to be sent? What email program are you currently using on your computer? I would assume Outlook since you have Office, but not sure.

It also seems like other people are accessing this file. Is it stored on a network folder and everyone accesses it that way?

In Outlook 2003 I would like to add a custom column through the "Field Chooser" that shows the number of attachments that a message in the inbox (or any other folder) has. A couple of weeks ago my Outlook started freezing up after I sent an email. In general, the machine was acting like it had a bug, or at minimum a conflict with my virus detection.

I was running Avast Free at the time. But assuming nothing wrong there, and considering the machine was overall acting sluggish, I ran a MalwareBytes scan, and a SpyBot scan. I also did a chkdsk of my ~3 year old hard drive, as well as a defrag.
I went into my mail and did some housekeeping, storing my old email messages under separate yearly folders (both Inbox and Sent items.). Whether these folders are Open or Closed within Outlook makes no difference.

Hard drive is about 50% full. I have upgraded memory to 4GB from 2GB thinking it would help overall performance of the machine (it didn't appear to, and had no impact on the Outlook freezing issue.).

This week, I have worked with nasdaq of Bleeping Computer to insure my machine was clean of bugs. My logs are clean. Outlook freezing occurs if it's the only program running, or with other programs running. The freezeup occurs when an email reply or new email is sent.

I have followed some of the Microsoft recommendations and deleted both the Word Normal template, and the NormalEMail templates, and allowed Outlook and Word to rebuild them. That didn't work.
I have not rebuilt my profiles as they have not been modified in any way to cause the issue, especially since the machine has been bug free for at least since Christmas. I have not tr... Read more

Hey there! I'm a newbie with a big thorn in my side so I hope you can help!!

I just recently updated to Office 2007 (though still with XP operating system).

Anyway, since updating to Outlook 2007, I have not been able to both send and receive emails at home. I eventually sorted it so I could receive emails but the problem now is not being able to send.

I have an IMAP email account which I receive OK but cannot send email from home with the IMAP smpt.

I have an orange wireless livebox at home so I use the orange SMTP details but still no luck. I know it must be something to do with my Orange account because sometimes I can connect to a different wireless connection from my bedroom and it sends OK using my IMAP details.

I contacted Orange today but they were unable to help and the issue is unresolved.

It is driving me mad! Please help!

I recently upgraded to Outlook 2010 and I am a "massive" user of the advanced find feature. I need to be able to see the item count result of my searches - just like it was on Outlook 2003. Unfortunately, I see that the advanced find window on 2010 doesn't have a status bar and therefore, I can't see the item count result.
Here are two screenshots to exemplify what I am talking about:
Outlook 2003 Advanced Find Results | marchie.net
Outlook 2010 Advanced Find Results | marchie.net
Does anyone have a solution for this?

1 -> the solution offered in the links I gave is not good for me).
2 -> I know it is possible to create a new search folder that would show item count, BUT, I have *tons* and *tons* of different criterias for search that I use all the time - I can't create a predifined search folder for each type of search that I need because:
a) I really have too many different criterias
b) some criterias appear as work comes, i.e., they are not something I can predict before and I need the results fast (no time to be creating a new search folder for this)
Isn't there a tweak to simply restore the good old status bar that was oh so simple in showing the results item count?
Thanks in advance,

A:Outlook 2010 - Advanced Find - No Status Bar = No Item Count

I had a similar problem, but within a Windows 7 search (files and folders) not within Outlook specifically, and it took me ages to stumble across something that might help other people trying to do this same operation. (It seems there are no real results when this question is googled...)

In my folder of search results, I chose the option to "select all" then right clicked with all selected and chose "properties" - the "General Information" tab lists how many files and folders are part of the search result. It's clumsy, but it did the trick for me in a pinch. Hope it helps someone else too.

Hi all,

First post.

A friend of mine has a 2000 pro box with IE and OE 6 - all software and service packs are up to date. No spyware as reported by Spy Sweeper 4.5 and Spybot. NAV reports defintions up to date and virus free as 01/11/06. Virus scan running tonight, I will see results tomorrow. Though the NAV log did indicated a w32/netsky worm (I think that was the infection, can recheck in tomorrow am if important) infection in December but it was, according to NAV, successfully dealt with.

Here is the problem: After an email is successfully sent sent OE doesn't move the message to the sent folder it remains in the outbox so it will be resent when a second email is sent. Then first and second email remain in the outbox and will resent when a third email is sent. The 1st, in this case, sent 3 times while the 2nd is sent twice and the third just once. When I tried to manually move the email into the sent, I get a vague "an error has occured" message with nothing specific or descriptive. I have tried to remove and reinstall OE both thru the add remove programs applet and manually following the article found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263837/en-us . Two "successful" manual reinstalls OE didn't resolve anomalous behavior. The problem started on 01/13/06, no new programs of any type have been recently installed. First off, not my computer. LOL A friend of mine opens up an e-mail from a friend with an attachment and WHOOPS! Should have renewed that Norton subscription, but alas..... Since then another friend (who thinks she knows bunches about computers) has been fiddling around in there and created a mess. I now have the computer in my possession for the night and tomorrow to try and fix this. Did a search on the e-mail name and nothing came up in Google. Ran Malwarebytes at her home yesterday and it found several trojans, a rootkit and two infected registry keys. It does not appear the virus or worm reinstalled itself upon reboot.

I can post the log upon request if needed. Seems like the infection is gone but since she went to reply to this infected e-mail Windows Mail (Vista Home Premium) had a hissy fit of some sort and it is now stuck like chuck in the outbox. Her friend went about messing with her e-mail settings and put them all backwards. I fixed them and 168 e-mail messages downloaded but still cannot get a test e-mail to send out. If you try to delete this e-mail (which says, "Re:E-mailing: K18qp416svx" in the subject line) it says an unknown error occured. Attempting to move it to another folder (like the deleted items folder) and you get the same message. It won't show the properties either.

Clicking on the e-mail gives you the standard "Windows mail encountered an error when attempting to display this message....." in the message view pane. A... Read more

A:Reply to infected email stuck in Outbox preventing sending mail

Moderators, please close this thread. I figured it out myself thank goodness and was finally able to remove the reply e-mail from the outbox and restore normal function to Windows Mail.

I have Outlook 2013 on Windows 7.

I currently cannot send email from my POP/SMTP Sbcglobal.net account; they just get stuck in my outbox. The size of the emails are very small (i.e. 5 kb) since I am just testing to see if I can send. I used to be able to manually go in and send each email individually from the outbox, even though they would not auto-send, but since yesterday have been unable to do even that.

I checked and double checked my settings to ensure that they are correct, which they are as far as I can tell. Attached are .jpg of my settings in outlook. I can receive emails in this account just fine. I have disabled the scanning of outbound email on my AV software. I have deleted the account and have made a new one, but the problem is still present. At this point I have searched and searched the internet for a solution but could not find one.

It seems that for some reason Outlook is not properly connecting with my outbound smtp server and I cannot figure out why.

Any help troubleshooting this matter would be great.
Thanks in advance.

For some reason Outlook (2002) shows that it is sending messages when there is nothing in my outbox (10 of them to a dead smtp account I had so it is failing to connect ). Can someone help me figure out what this is and how to stop it? I have always set the program not to send receipts or any other items, so I"m at a total loss, as to what it could possible be trying to send.

I am moving your thread to the security forum. We can always move it back once we have ruled out a security issue.

Please do this:
Download Hijack This .
Unzip to a convenient permanent folder (not a temporary folder or your desktop), double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I've been having the same problem...can't really recognize from the scan what it could be, i hope you can...also, when it does send/receive, the error has something to do with AOL postmaster stopping unsolicited bulk mail

To EA Fiedler-I`ve been reading your post with interest as my emails get stuck in the outbox and hang there for a long long time. At times the same email will send several times as many as 25 on one occassions. I followed your suggestions to mmbc_voltron and i`m still experiencing the same thing. One suggestion is that my upload of 64kbps could be the problem. Any suggestions?

Hello, I have a problem with my outlook express. I write an e-mail and when I go and click send it goes through the process of sending with the small green squares going across the mini popup screen, but the email stays in the Outbox.

A warning screen pops up but with no error message, it just says Error in the bottom right hand corner of the screen... people tell me they've received the email numerous times, eventhough it still hasn't left the outbox on my pc and does not appear in Sent Items.

Can someone please tell me how to resolve this?

The other day I realised I hadn't seen the Outlook Express 'compact messages' pop-up for some time. Sure enough, when I checked my recycle bin, the most recent bak files were at least 3 weeks old when I usually have to compact once a weekish. I did a manual compact and this worked ok. But, curious, I've been keeping an eye on the compact count check in the registry to see what happens when it reached the 100 mark. And it never reaches the 100 mark. The highest I've seen it is at 19, when suddenly it reverts to zero, seemingly of its own free will. Yesterday it was reading 5 and then when I checked an hour later expecting to see 7 or 8, it was reading 2! Needless to say, I don't touch anything in the registry, - just look.
I've been Googling this but I can't see any references to this particular behaviour anywhere. As I said, I can compact manually but I'd prefer not to have to. I am a bit worried that my OE might be corrupted. Any ideas anyone?

A:Outlook Express "Compact count check" behaving oddly.

Just when you think you've heard everything, I must say that's a new one on me.

Compacting is Identity specific, so I would think the problem would be in your current Identity (of course a lot of people would look at your problem as a solution to out of control compacting ).
You could try creating a new Identity and see if it does the same thing.
If the compacting works properly in the new one, Import your mail from the old Identity.

Sometimes in Outlook 2007 I am getting emails stuck in the outbox. They are actually sending - and sending, and sending. Infact they don't stop sending until I delete the email from the Outbox.
The emails never show in my sentbox as sent, but people keep recieving emails over and over.
How can I prevent this from happening ?
