Lenovo Yoga 13 WiFi no longer connects to wireless network, but will connect to iPhone hotspot

Q: Lenovo Yoga 13 WiFi no longer connects to wireless network, but will connect to iPhone hotspot

I have a Yoga 13 running Windows 8.1 that has recently stopped connecting to my home wireless network. All the latest Windows Updates are installed at this time.I have uninstalled the Realtek Network device and the related drivers, rebooted and tested without luck. This unit sees the networks and if I enter a wrong password, it asks for a re-entry of the correct password. When the correct password is entered it says "Checking Network Requirements" then fails with "Can't connect to this network"None of the troubleshooting services have been successful. All my other devices connect without any issues. I am runniing a Netgear R8000 Nighthawk wireless router. What is odd is that this laptop will connect to my iPhone 6 hotspot without any issues. I suspected a windows update may be the cause so I downloaded drivers from Lenovo for the wireless adapter. Uninstalled the current ones, rebooted, and then installed the Lenove supplied drivers. Still no joy. Any other suggestions short of a reinstall of the OS? Cheers! Hawkeye007

Preferred Solution: Lenovo Yoga 13 WiFi no longer connects to wireless network, but will connect to iPhone hotspot

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Apologies if I get some of the technical jargon wrong but I pretty useless when it comes to IT issues.

I have a Satellite Pro A200 and had problems connecting to various wifi connections.
The computer would see the wifi connection and connect to it but i wasn't able to connect to the internet.

The office issue has now been sorted by our IT support guy (security settings on the new router we too complex for my PC or something like that) but he wasn't able to solve the problem of not being able to connect to my iphone to use the 'hotspot' feature via wifi.

Does anyone know a way of solving this or is it a simple fact of the laptop being too old and really needs updating?

Thanks for any assistance anyone is able to give.

> Does anyone know a way of solving this or is it a simple fact of the laptop being too old and really needs updating?

This is not a question of notebook age?
As far as I know not all mobile phone providers support this?
You should firstly ask your mobile provider if you can use the tethering function.

If this would be supported my mobile provider, then you have to connect the iphone to the notebook firstly
For that you?ve got two options: you could use the BT connection (in such case check if notebook supports BT too) or via USB cable provided with the iPhone.

(PS: As far as I know tethering is support by iOS3.0 and higher?)

After the iphone has been connected to the notebook you need to enable the tethering on iphone.
Under Settings -> Network you should see the option internet tethering? this need to be enabled.
Now you should be able to see that in Network & sharing Center of the control panel.

My new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro Laptop has Windows 10 pre-installed on there. I'm able to connect to regular wifi connections (like my home network), but it will not connect to Xfinity WiFi hotspots. I'll see the Xfinity hotspot available (but with a little 'exclamation point' shield symbol next to it), I'll click on "Connect" and it will think for a few seconds, then say "Can't connect to this network".

It doesn't send me to the webrowser log-in, it doesn't say "limited connectivity" or anything else that I'm used to dealing with. I've tried opening up a generic web browser to try to initiate the username and password sign in page, and nothing happens.

I've cleared my cache, restarted my laptop, removed known networks, added them, called both Xfinity and Lenovo, and both say it's the other's fault.

The conclusion I've come to is either somehow my wireless network adapter is not configured correctly to allow this hotspot to work, or somehow my antivirus firewall is blocking it (but I've disabled my McAfee firewall and this still doesn't work).

Is there a different wireless network adapter, or driver, or something that I should install? Is there a configuration I should set?

Please help!

1st. I have a desktop and nearby there is wireless internet WiFi hotspot. Please I would like to know how can I connect it to the wireless internet WiFi? I am thinking of buying this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/802-11n-150mbps-wifi-wlan-wireless-network-usb-adapter-53538

Apart from that adapter do I need something else?

2nd. Where the desktop is, I have no reception. I mean because my cellphone has no reception when it is in the same place where the desktop is. But when I put my cellphone in the window around 12 feet away, there is reception. So I am wondering if I can make a 12 feet long USB cable from the desktop to the window and with the Wifi/WLAN Wireless Network USB Adapter in the window.

Any suggestions and help?

Thanks

Hi, can anybody please help me set up a wireless access point?
I have an Acer aspire 5315, recently removed Vista and installed Xp SP3 with SATA Drivers. I'm trying to use an Atheros AR5007EG network adapter to set up a network. My computer comes integrated Intel/PRO Wireless 2200BG Acer InviLink 802.11b/g LAN connection, and i'm using a usb vodafone huawei broadband modem to connect to the internet. I need to learn how to configure internet connection sharing and to create a connection so i can access the internet on my iphone.

Ive seen this issue posted for a few different machines, but looks like they require specific instructions for each so Ill try a new thread for my Thinkpad Yoga. I am trying to connect to my iPhones mobile network when on the road, but it simply doesnt appear in my Thinkpad Yoga's available wifi networks. I have checked this with a totally different old laptop, as well as just finding the phones hotspot on other devices and it works fine.Im not sure if I need to click a particular setting/option, or if there is some sort of patch, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi ! I know that this question has been asked a lot on here, but unfortunately none of the solutions helped fix my problem..

Last week I was using my laptop when suddenly it disconnected from the internet. I tried fixing it the next day, and even though there were full bars, it wouldn't connect to the network. I restarted my router multiple times and nothing. So, after a fit of anger and messing with different settings on my computer, I pretty much gave up. For some reason, I was able to connect to the internet 2 or 3 times over the past week for about 10-15 minutes before it would disconnect me for the rest of the day.. So, I'm honestly so stumped. I thought maybe it might have just been my router, but I'm at my dad's house now and I'm not able to connect to his network, either. He tried helping me fix my laptop, and thinks I might need to go ahead an order a new wireless adapter, but neither of us are that well with computers/networking. I'm hooked up via Ethernet cord which seems to be working fine, but my wireless is only able to read and not actually connect. (On occasion it will actually connect to the internet, but when it does I can't actually access the internet)

I've tried uninstalling my wireless adapter, disabling/enabling it, a bunch of weird commands that I don't even know what they do (.. probably shouldn't have messed with those), stopping/restarting services, etc.

Anyways, thank you so much for your time,... Read more

Hi,My brand new Yoga 720-15 IKB doesn't connect to my workplace wifi network which is a Mikrotik network. It does though connect to my home network or a mobile hotspot and works fine with them. I have installed all Windows 10 updates and Lenovo Companion updates. I have manually updated wifi card driver, I have also tried deleting network card and installing it again - but no success. Still doesn't connect to this one particular network in my workplace. To make it stranger my coworker has the same brand new Yoga 720, the only difference is that mine Yoga is grey and his is platinium color. We discovered also that two, supposedly the same computers  have different network cards (he has Intel, I have Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A. This is a bit weird).I have also found out his Yoga connects easily to VPN at our workplace, my doesn't.Any ideas how to solve it? EDIT: my current network card driver is 12.0.0.295

My laptop that runs Windows 8 suddenly stopped being able to connect to a wifi network that I've used for months (my home network). The message I initially received was "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." Now it simply just says "cannot connect to this network." I can connect to other networks just fine.

I've been reading forums for several hours trying to solve this problem, and the consensus seems to be that you must delete the network and then re-add it to fix the problem. Unfortunately I am not even able to delete the network. I've tried to delete it by:

1) Right-clicking on the network and selecting "forget this network,"but nothing appears when I right-click.
2) Delete it via command prompt following the instructions here. Unfortunately the relevant network does not appear in the list for some reason.

I've also tried restarting my computer several times; restoring my computer to a restore point before I had this problem; and disabling and re-enabling my network adapter. No luck.

If anyone is able to assist with this I would greatly appreciate it.

As an aside, I hate Windows 8 with a passion.

Many thanks!

A:Can no longer connect to wifi network I've previously used; going crazy

Have you tried just clicking on the network name and clicking on "Connect"?  If you then can't connect you should be able to "Forget" it.

BTW, if you are using Windows 8.1 without Update 1 then you will not get a context menu when you right-click a network name.  If you are using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 with Update 1 then you will see a context menu.

So i have a strange question.. I don't know if you can configure NAT on that particular connection. That question should be best answered by your celluar provider.

I saw this post (which is now closed) but I'm not sure exactly what it is asking me to do: http://forums.techguy.org/networking/1002567-possible-use-wireless-router-iphone.html, which seems to tell me what to do but I'm not sure how to make a static IP address etc. Could someone explain this in a different way? I want to use my iphone personal hotspot to access the internet while still being on my home network (which is not online) to connect to my NAS. Ideally my router would pick up my iphone signal and then route it to my NAS and two laptops, but even if I'm just able to use the internet on the laptop while still connected to the home network would be great. Currently I'm running windows 7 on a bootcamped macbook pro retina, and an Asus RT-N56U router.

Hi there, and please help .

My home network uses a Linksys WRT 54 G ver 2 router to which I have 3 desktops hardwired and one desktop (my teenage daughter's) tapping in wirelessly with a D-Link wireless USB. I've not had any problems with the wireless connection over the past year and a half until this morning.

Although I didn't think I was using AOL's Pure Network Port Magic, while looking at her system, a popup in the Taskbar told me that Port Magic had expired and that I had to log on to AOL within 90 days (which I had). I uninstalled Port Magic and tried to reconnect through Windows (XP) network connections. Our network wasn't in the list, even when I refreshed. When I right-clicked our network, our network shows a signal strength of 5 bars, yet does not come up in the available network list. A neighbor's unsecured network with a low signal strength of 1 bar is available, and I can connect to it and get online, but I can't connect to mine.

I printed out the network key and tried to reestablish a connection, but I still cannot connect. Although I thought/think that Port Magic is simply a "traffic cop," out of desperation I reinstalled AOL and accepted Port Magic. Still no go.

I don't know why all of a sudden our wireless connection doesn't work. The hardwired desktops are working fine. I can, as a last resort, hardwire my daughter, but getting enough cable and running it through the floor will be a bit of a nightma... Read more

Welcome to TSG:
Here are some things we have learned about this Atheros adapter.Generally boils down to a security issue(wpa/wep etc) or a driver issue.
Hope this helps
Ok:Here is what we know about this adapter.
Boils down to two things basically.
Encryption and drivers.
Problem determination suggestions for both of those issues are covered below.

We have recently been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapters over the last few months, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and windows Vista.

The adapter gets an IP configuration, and shows as connected, but communication is non-existent or sporadic.

Log into the Router and disable the wireless security and see if you are now able to connect to the internet and surf OK.

Here are a number of possible solutions

--- 1) In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and "update driver." That apparently has worked for some posters.

--- 2) Download and install the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site support section, as some manufactures, appear to now have a working driver available.

Ok, I spend a lot of time over at a friend's house, with roughly 3-4 computers running on the same network. My laptop was able to connect smoothly with no problems for about a month. One day another friend came over and connected his laptop to the network, before mine was connected, and since then I have been unable to connect back to the network even after he's left with his laptop long gone. I've tried restarting the router, tried to release/renew my IP with the cmd prompt (however was only displayed "media disconnected" for all my connections), tried setting a static IP, and none have given me any results. My laptop recognizes the network with 4-5 bars, however when trying to connect I'm simply given a message saying, "Windows was unable to connect to (network name)". I have no problem connecting to my wireless network at home, but for some reason am unable to connect to my friends. I'm using a Dell Inspiron N5110, along with Windows 7. Hello everyone,
I have a weird Wifi problem. My computer was fine but it started recently when I moved. Anyway, whenever I troubleshoot the Wifi it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource www microsoft com ..." Of course I googled the error message and followed almost everything that I could find but to no avail. Here are some of the things I tried:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /all
netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
Made sure that ipv4 and ipv6 address are set automaticly, and so for the DNS
I've updated all the drivers
Error when I use netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt hit, it says access is denied
I'm not using any proxy server
Here are some background on the problem:
Using a university Ethernet and using "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Placeholder_Network_Name key=Placeholder_Password" to setup a hotspot. Before and during that it was working fine. I didn't notice it til I moved.
Here are some things that I noticed that could help determine the problem:
Eventhough it says that the connection is limited, I can still use the internet, but with occasional times where it says that it's still connected but I can't use the internet. Or sometimes it loads half the page and then stops.
Disabling avast felt like it made it better but it still did the weird thing from time to time
And the problem is definitely from my laptop because other devices can connec... Read more

A little overboard. Since it is an issue at your University. You need to get with whoever helps students out with connecting to the Domain/LAN. If it is on your own private network. Being on the University would not have anything to do with the issue, unless your university LAN loaded a Proxy setting into Internet options.

Hi there,

I have a new problem that has just cropped up today. I am no longer able to connect to public wifi or my phone's wireless hotspot. My laptop either will not connect or connect with limited access. It has connected without issue in the past and as soon as I returned home it connected to my wifi here.

What I did notice is I am connected to an unidentified network with no internet access in addition to my home wireless network:
Specs:
Acer Aspire S7 392
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260 (driver updated)
Disabled my firewall and antivirus

I just connected to my phone's hotspot again and here is what I am coming up with:
Attachment 57082

And when I run ipconfig/renew
Attachment 57083

Any ideas what could be causing this?

As long as it is the correct driver, WiFi is turned on, then you should be seeing SSID's available.

Okay, so my desktop is connected to the network by wifi to the wireless N (plus B and G) router. It connects to the internet fine and dandy. My iPhone can connect to the router, but drops the wifi signal most of the time. It doesn't seem to want to hold the connection because of either distance or interference from the wall or whatever.

What I want is to connect the iPhone's wifi to the computer for a stronger connection. But I don't want to move the router because it's centrally located and my office is kinda further away from it.

Equipment:
1 computer
1 802.11n wireless USB adapter connected to computer
1 802.11g wireless PCI adapter connected to computer
1 802.11n router connected to internet
1 iPhone with 802.11b/g connectivity
Is it possible to do this? I know what people have done it with one wired connection and a wireless connection from the computer. But can it be done with TWO wireless adapters connected to the computer?

Thanks in advance for any replies....

PS...I know it'd be easier to just use the computer to browse the internet since I'd be in the office anyway...but I work as a 3D modeler and alot of times I'm testing renders for scenes and such and can't stop the render without losing the progress. If I browse while it's rendering, it's possible I can crash the computer because of the heavy resources the 3D engine is already using.

A:Possible to connect iPhone's wifi to computer that is connected by wifi to the net?

Doesn't hurt (except maybe your time) to try. Get an ad-hoc wireless network working between computer and iPhone (using dynamic addressing). Then in Network Connections bridge the two wireless connections.

If it doesn't work, show the following for the computer before you bridge and when you have the bridge.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I recently used this tool for the first time and used it to install all my latest Windows updates. Since then, the machine has never been able to connect to any WiFi network at all and the only option I have to connect to the internet is to physically connect the machine to my phone and use the its hotspot. Clicking on the list of available networks successfully displays all the networks in range, including my home networks - if I select my network and enter the password for it nothing happens - I am left with the greyed out wifi icon on the task bar with an asterisk in the top left hand corner of the icon. I have been through all the steps on the troubleshooter including going through all the NETSH commands on the command line and disabling all the network adapters but still nothing works. Note that I can successfully connect to the wifi networks from all the other devices in my house including my MacBook Air and my iPhone. This is a Yoga 910 512GB (16GB RAM) machine - has anybody else had this issue after proceeding with any updates recently?

Hello, I have created a hotspot using my old Macbook (OS 10.6.8) and it has been working good with all android devices (phones and tablets) I have. However, my Yoga 900 (13ISK) see the wifi network but cannot connect. I have found troubleshooting advice for Windows 7 users however it is not compatible with Yoga 900 running Windows 10. I have changed my network name and password combinations as recommended, it still doesnot work. What can I do to make it connect to the hotspot? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I've been using a hotspot wifi with my Windows 7 computer for several months now. The hotspot requires login, the redirect is automatic. This morning I tried to connect and it says This site can?t be reached www.hotspots.de took too long to respond. I tried connecting with my phone, everything is working fine. I've tried connecting my computer to another (slower and weaker signal) hotspot which does not require login in, works fine.

I've done a troubleshoot on the network, it came out with the following message:

resource (www.hotspots.de) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts. The remote computer isn't responding to connections on port 433, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable.
Windows couldn't find any problems with the firewall on your computer.

I'm using avast. I tried switching off all the shields, made no difference.
Also, if it is the antivirus that is blocking my connection, why is it only blocking this particular hotspot, while I can still connect to other much more inferior one and browse the web?
I work at home using the internet so it's imperative for me to have a good connection. I might be using a lot of data, and it's a public hotspot, so it made me suspect that they might have blocked me from that particular hotspot? Is it even a technical possibility?

Please help!

Arthur

My Laptop was connected to my WIFI and everything was ok. I left my laptop on for a few hours and when i came back to get on my WIFI did not work. It says that it can not identify the network and there is no internet access. I have tried almost everything i can find to try and fix this issue but nothing seems to work. I did a factory reset hoping that it would fix the issue but sadly it did not. I can use the hotspot on my phone to connect to the internet. when i run the troubleshooting program it says "The default gateway is not available". I use this laptop for work and i need to be able to connect to our WIFI. This is costing me money every day that i dont have access.

Hi all,

I have wireless internet at home through a Belkin router.

It used to work fine but one computer wouldnt connect. Stupidly, I tried checking the security password on my laptop and ever since it won't connect. (However, now the other computer does!)

It picks up the signal from the router but just won't connect. When I run ipconfig I get a message saying Media Disconnected. I've searched forums and can't find an answer to this.

The laptop still connects to the wireless internet in my office so the wireless capability obviously still works. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Miles

Disable encryption on the router and try to connect. Assuming success you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

OS is Windows XP.

PLEASE help.

Thanks

P.S. I have tried power cycling the modem/router but nothing works. Other computers can get on the internet via the wireless router fine.

Hi guys,
I have an issue I would like to resolve. I will try to be as clear and precised as possible.
I'm only allowed to one device to an internet. My laptop connects directly to internet WiFi. So the laptop (Windows 10) serves as a hotspot. But I have two other devices I want to connect. A PC (Windows 7) via Ethernet and a smartphone via WiFi.
Right now, I can either share the WiFi in laptop to the PC by bridging, or to smartphone via hospot, but NOT both at the same time. I want to connect both like this;

What should I do?

Thanks

Your wifi is solved but for the ethernet part, you would need a wifi to ethernet adapter like this one.

Hi, Here is the story of my long struggle with this issue.

I have a Lenovo T520 and installed Windows 8 little over two months ago. After the upgrade I started having trouble connecting to different wireless networks ( ATT Uverse at home, Verizon Jetpack 4620LE, Verizon Pantech UML 290 and wifi networks at Starbucks). I can see the SSID but when I try to connect it, it says "verifying and connecting" and errors out. All these wireless networks work perfectly ok with rest of my devices (Windows 7 laptops, MacBook Air, Pro, Tablets etc)

However my windows 8 laptop is able to connect to the two wireless network at work, one is internal and one public wifi for guests. The only difference is our corporate wifi uses Radius servers for authentication where as rest of the wireless networks don't. Here's what I have done troubleshooting this issue so far.

1. Completely wiped the drive and reinstall the OS. Tried connecting to the wireless network with the default drivers and the same issue happened.
2. Downloaded the latest drives for the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN from Intel's website and tried connecting to the wireless network. Same error again !.
3. Called Verizon to see if there was a problem on their end. Reset the two Verizon 4G cards to factory settings, updated firmware's and tried connecting. Same error.
4. Called ATT and same steps and no luck.
4. Changed Wireless Authentication Type from "WPA2" to "WPA", "WEP" and tried co... Read more

I have a new iPhone 4Gs. at work I noticed under available networks that there is one labeled 'Free Public WiFi' but when i try to access this i get no where. no error messages come up or request for password. Mainly I'm trying to use this wifi for FaceTime connect with the iphone. I am told that others try to access this network and can't get to the internet either.
What could be the problem? the strength is about 50% but even when I walk to an area that is supposedly FULL strength signal it won't work then either. the DHCP address is:169.254.106.123 subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

Well, you most likely answered your own question. Others that try to connect can't either. I'd suggest that maybe that free public WiFi isn't working.

Hi,

I am having trouble getting my HP (dv1340us) laptop (uses Windows XP) to connect to my home network. I've already asked a few computer-savvy people for tips, but they seem confused by the problem, as well, so I'm trying again!

About six months ago I was having problems with my laptop internet browsers. First it stopped allowing me to use Firefox, then the newer versions of IE, until finally the only browser I could use was an old version of IE. I sent the computer in to HP for repair, telling them of the browser problem, as well as asking them to fix the broken speakers and a problem with the battery one day went from working perfectly to suddenly dropping to zero power whenever I unplugged it.

When I got the computer back, I took it to the library and was able to connect to the free network there. Firefox worked just fine. So far, so good. However, at my own house I have been unable to connect to the internet for months now. I've tried everything I can think of. I just ran a WindowsXP repair CD, as well as the driver installation CD.

Since I got the computer back I have been unable to renew my IP address, and now that I ran the repair CD I apparently have "media disconnected."

The laptop has a strong signal from my router, but it connects with "limited or no connectivity" when I enter the WEP key. Oddly enough, twice two computer-savvy people have been able to get the computer to connect to my home network by playing around with... Read more
