I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I reimaged the desktop, and then installed the Lenovo system update. Ran the scan, and tried to update the BIOS - out of all the recommended driver updates, the BIOs was the only one I selected. It crashed. I let it sit for 30 mins with no progress, so powered the pc off. Now it won't boot up. Can't get into the BIOS, or F12, or F10 etc... It just beeps 2 times. Any way to get into the pc to recover it?

We have FBKT87AUS Bios version installed on nearly 250 Thinkcentre M93P desktops (Mostly running Windows 7 32 Bit and Chrome OS). I tried to update/flash Bios to the latest version which I could download from the website but then I get a message saying " Version don't need to be flashed". Shall I just leave the existing Bios. Will there be any security risks? What would you recommend? If I have to update then where can I find the iso or file to download which would work. As of now the machines are all in good condition and working fine.

Computer will not boot into or past BIOS since BIOS update to FWKT86A  on 5/30/2018, unless dongel from Microsoft wireless key board and mouse is removed prior to start up. With the dongle removed maching boot normally and works with the Microsoft keyboard and mouse when plugged in. Is there a fix for this or do I need to roll back my BIOS?

The BIOS version shown in your photo shows that you are at the latest version, see below.

I believe the systems back then required "single" density rather than the now more common double density memory chips.  This may not be of help, given your school's budget, but may point you to some memory that will work, Crucial still has memory upgrades available for M55 type 8811.

I encountered this problem and was lucky to find the solution on this forum. To help others, I am making this new post with more detailed info.

Problem: you wish to update the BIOS (for whatever reason). You either do not have a CD-Rom (disc drive) in your machine, or it is not working.

Solution: locate an external disc drive, or better: install (even if only temporary) a CD/DVD drive: there are lots available for free from anyone who deals with computers.

Reasoning: the "flash using Windows" method is risky. I used it, because the drive that came with a "new"(used) computer was inop., and I didn't want to stop, find one and swap it out. The BIOS flash routine failed before completion and  therefore did not initiate a re-boot. The end result was that the computer would start, but hang after the BIOS loaded and went to boot the OS. No method of starting would work. {Described in this post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/M92p-no-longer-booting-after-BIOS-update/td-... }

Rant: the text file detailing the "Flash with Windows" utility should include a specific warning that flashing within an OS is inherently _RISKY_! It should strongly recommend using the "make a CD-rom disc" method. Furthermore, the instructions for recovery from the Hardware Maintenance Manual SHOULD BE INC... Read more

I've performed so many BIOS updates over the years, including on this machine, and never had a single one fail. Until now.

The machine is a M92p tower, i7-3770, Type 3212. I applied the 9SKT99USA (Flash from operating system version). It seemed to start out OK, went thru at least one reboot, displayed a step in yellow text, then went to "Updating BIOS...." at the bottom of the screen, then froze. Now, when I try to start it will display "lenovo" and that's it.

I tried the clear CMOS thing with the jumper change. It beeped twice. Unfortunately, when I restart I get the same result as above.

Is there any hope?

Thanks in advance.

Problem solved toay,You need to open your machine. Find the cmos clear jumpers.Move the little cup from positions 1-2 to 2-3. Unplug Hard Disk. Close the machine. Insert a portable USB DVD to a usb port (have a copy of the new bios on the cd) and turn on your machine. It will boot from USB DVD drive and it will load the new bios. Machine will shut down after the new bios update. Open agin the machine, plug the Hard Disk and put back the jumpers to 1-2 position. Unplug USB DVD and it will boot from Hard Disk. That's all. IN OTHER WORDS: Bios update can be done if first you change the jumpers on motherboard.

Hope I put this in the right place. Here goes...
So I updated my bios today from 1.7 to 1.A. When the system restarted it goes to Windows 7 with a black screen that says "C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop Refers to a location that is unavailable". From here I have all of the basic buttons but I cannot access anything. I get an error even trying to run regedit. My system ran fine before the bios update. The system setup is as follows:
50GB SSD with Windows 7 installed only
4x 500GB HDD in Raid0 with all user profiles and default save locations set to it.
2x External drives (not to important here just run Ubuntu and a spare drive)

When I set the system up I changed all of the registry settings so that windows automatically saved everything to the Raid0 drive. Everything is still on the drive as it has been unchanged but Windows fails to find the desktop settings now. How can I change this? I CANNOT lose any of the files so a wipe and rebuild are out of the question. I'm lost here fellas and could really use your guidance. Thanks in advance.
Edit: When I looked in the system profile folder there was no "desktop" folder there. I manually created one and got some of my shortcuts on the desktop back but everything is still missing. At system launch I edited all registry settings to point to drive D: as the primary. Maybe something changed there?

I am preparing to upgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 10. According to the HP Support site the BIOS should be upgraded before upgrading to Win 10. The BIOS currently installed as reported by msinfo32 is "AMI 80.16, 05/12/2013".  According to the HP Support site page for my product, the latest HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 2AF3) software available is sp72302.exe Version 80.24 Rev A, Aug 3 2015. I temporarily disabled my Antivirus (Norton Security), and exited ZoneAlarm Firewall Free, and then attempted to download and install this new BIOS version using "HP Download and Install Assisstant (Recommended)". The download part suceeded, and a cmd window launched, and all operations displayed within it appeared to proceed without error. After the cmd window closed, the remaining dialogue window indicated that the BIOS update was also successful. No automatic reboot occurred so I then closed that dialogue and manually rebooted. After logging in again and re-running msinfo32, the BIOS version reported is unchanged at "AMI 80.16, 05/12/2013". To double check I rebooted and used F10 to enter the BIOS. At that level in System Information, the BIOS version is reported as "KAI v80.16 12/05/2013", so it seems that the BIOS update to the new v80.24 Rev A in fact did NOT succeed. What do I need to do to successfully update the BIOS to Version 80.24 Rev A?

I have a Dell Studio 540s desktop purchased in 2008 which originally had Windows Vista, 32-bit OS factory installed.  I have since upgraded to Windows 7, 32-bit and when I recently attempted to update the BIOS after an error prompt, I found that Dell only provides updated drivers for Windows 7, 64-bit OS.  Is there any way of updating my BIOS, the last version being 2009?

Hi....... I am hoping that someone may be able to pint me in the right direction.   I have an old IBM Thinkcentre..... I am not sure which exact model it is.  Used to use it in my home office, but moved it out to the entertainment center ages ago and basically use it as a "jukebox" that I have stored all my music into and feed my audio system.  I run nothing else, and it worked fine doing this for years.  Anyway, with a recent update in iTunes, I now am experiencing issues playing back music, as I never have before.   I populated the main board with 4GB of RAM, but when I check in system information...... although it states 4GB installed, it only chows 2.25GB in "total physical memory". I have tried everything I could to increase performance of the resources I have..... disabled what was unnecessary and turned off everything that does not absolutely need to run in the background, but have only improved things a bit.  In doing some research, it was suggested that a  BIOS update "may" allow me to go beyond the RAM limitations of my system.  I figured I would try this out before bagging it and just investing in a new computer. Anyway, I have attached a snapshot of my system configuration.  Can anyone help me find a later version of BIOS?  I have tried searching for it myself, but everything points me back to the Lenovo site, were I cannot find anything.  When I plug in my serial number, it does not find a... You have a ThinkCentre M50-8189. 4GB max memory.https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-thinkcentre-m50-8189-p4-2-4-ghz-monitor-none-series/specs/ Due to the way memory was allocated at that time, the top 1GB of memory is RESERVED.Your BIOS is probably up to date. Other users may have more information to offer about the top 1GB of memory.

I have a ThinkCentre M710s running Windows 10 and I can't access the BIOS menu. I have tried using the F1 key, the F2 key, the F12 key, and the Windows troubleshooting menu. All of these methods have failed. When I reboot this machine, I don't even get a Lenovo splash screen. It just goes directly to Windows. Please help. Any advice that anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dear fellow community members, I have a huge problem with M83 ThinkCentre. We've bought 80 PCs from a retailer in Germany. All very good condition. These PCs are 2014 release. The problem is their BIOS. It was upgradet to 2016 version and the problem we experience is that whenever we put a GPU in any of the 2 included PCIE ports - it starts, but fails to boot. Same thing on all of them. Do you guys have an idea how to downgrade the BIOS?

Hi there, I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkcentre E73 SFF, which had Windows 10 installed in it. I decided that I wanted to installed Windows 7 instead of using Windows 10. I decided to go into the BIOS to change the boot priority so that my Windows 7 installation drive had priority over the pre-existing boot drive. In the process, I also recall disabling "Fast Boot", as the PC kept skipping the post screen every time I booted up. It continued to do that even when I was in Windows 10, but I've now got Windows 7 installed, but I cannot find any way to access the BIOS of the motherboard. Can anybody advise on how I'd go about getting into the motherboard BIOS? TLDR - I've installed Windows 7 in place of Windows 10, but I cannot get into the BIOS as the computer is forever skipping the post screen on bootup. Does anybody know about how I'd be able to get into the motherboard BIOS? Thanks in advance!P.S. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!

Hello there, I have (for the first time) a problem with my Lenovo ThinkCentre E73. I recently updated the BIOS (it was one of the initial versions and had some issues) to the latest version. I use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch. This KVM switch has some USB inputs (for keyboard, mouse, USB stick or whatever) and the USB part is based on a (switchable) USB HUB. But when i connect my USB keyboard to this HUB, the Lenovo BIOS doesn't recognize it (keyboard does'nt work, and the Lenovo shows error 0211, no keyboard connected. The KVM itself isn't faulty, in Windows everything worked fine. Also the previous used BIOS version has no problems with the KVM and works fine also. There where no changes made in the hardware setup. When i plug my keyboard directly into the Lenovo the BIOS recognized it. When i use a simple (non powered) USB hub and plug my keyboard in, the BIOS doesn't detect is again. So it looks like the new BIOS has some issues with USB hubs. Not only my keyboard would be detected, also USB memory sticks are not visible by the boot manager. Can anybody help me, or can Lenovo made a change to the new BIOS version so i can use my KVM again into the BIOS? Thank you!

I'm curious if you get the same result on a front USB port (I'm assuming the hub was connected to the rear.)
