Preferred Solution: Lenovo Ideapad keyboard and trackpad not working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! I spilled cider all over the keyboard on my Ideapad 500s, and now the trackpad doesn't work at all. After the spill I switched it off almost immediately, and tried to turn it on in about half an hour. Everything seems fine apart from the trackpad. Also, during the night the computer started making very loud beeping noises while switched off. I think it was three beeps and a pause. The power button lit up as well. I switched the computer on and there were no changed - everything works apart from the trackpad. Is it posdible to fix it somehow and what should I do?

So I booted my PC after an update the other morning and the keyboard and trackpad weren't working. I tested the brightness keys on my keyboard and they still worked so it couldn't be a hardware issue there, and my mouse still worked so it was just the trackpad that had something wrong with it. The trackpad has a driver error (code 10) but the keyboard says it's working correctly. Here's what I've tried in hopes to resolve the issues so far: -Reinstalling trackpad drivers -Uninstalling both trackpad and keyboard drivers then restarting -System Restore -Chkdsk on both drives -A trick I read on these forums where you flip the device into tent mode, then after a few seconds flip it back round to laptop mode. I am utterly confused as to what's wrong here as nothing has even slightly helped my problem. Any help?

Hi, the latptop is only about 2.5 months old now... 3 weeks ago randomly the keyboard's keys on the laptop itself stopped working. No clue why, Ive checked drivers, did a reboot, tried safe mode, etc... It's only on the laptop itself. The keys that work are tyhg caps lock num lock and maybe a couple others... Ive never spilled anything on the laptop nor have I ever dropped it. I was in love with this laptop for the price I paid for it at Best Buy until the keyboard stopped working on it... It just randomly happened and I'm not sure why. The keys don't appear to stick or anything like that... (normal keystrokes just nothing happens in result of clicking them) I am using a keyboard plugged into it right now... I really need to get this fixed and I'm very upset at the fact it happened just 2 months after the purchase... So that cancels out my bestbuy 1 month warranty right there. I really can't deal with this much longer considering the fact that I was planning to use this laptop for my work.. If I can't get a simple easy fix I will have to find something new somewhere else... sorry to say. Praying for an easy solution/fix.

Hi, I have a fairly new (3 month old) lenovo ideapad 320 laptop. Yesterday the keyboard completely stopped working. I have attached a remote keyboard to log on and type this. I have updated windows and lenovo. I have gone into lenovo solution centre and completed all hardware scans etc. I have rebooted numerous times. I have done everything that the forums recomend but no fix. The only thing I haven't done in open up the back and remove the battery  and turn the computer off and on, as that does not seem like something easy and I am worried I will break something. This is extreamly frustrating and hoping that someone can tell me what to do?kind regards Y

Hi everyone, I spilled water over my laptop about one week ago. At first, the keyboard was working perfectly, but the next day, some keys were connected (when pressing one, it would display 2 characteres). After some time, those keys that were connected, stopped working at all. It hasn't changed since then.  I am living in USA but my laptop was bought in Spain (it has spanish keyboard), and Lenovo US told me that they can't fix it here, I would have to send it to Spain, which is really expensive.  Is there any other way to fix it? I read online that water can't damage the keyboard, but it has been broken for 1 week, so I don't know if I have been unlucky. Also, the laptop works perfectly with an USB keyboard. Thanks.

A:Lenovo ideapad 700-15ISK keyboard not working after spilling water

Water can certainly damage the keyboard.  There are 2 layers of conductive film and water gets inside.  That seems crazy that they cannot get a Spanish keyboard in the U.S.  I would try to get a second opinion.

Hi,For your information, almost everyone says it's working by "fn+space" but for my laptop it was "double space", i don't know why.Anyway, backlight was working fine until yesterday. Fan started to get loud so i took my laptop apart and cleaned the fan. The noise is gone but backlight stopped working. Capslock, numlock lights and fn key are working, i do not know if there is a correlation. I read almost every topic about the issue but none of them helped.

Hello. I have had my Ideapad 300 for several months now and I really love it except for one thing, the trackpad. Due to where my hand and fingers naturally sit, there is a spot on the trackpad that shows a little more wear than the area around it. In this picture ( http://imgur.com/bJovhqL ), you can see that there is an oval shaped region that looks a little different. The problem I am having is that several times a day (up to several times per hour), the trackpad goes nuts.  It doesn'ttrack my finger correctly and performs multi-finger actions even though I'm just using one finger.  It jitters around the screen if I try to use it, and I just have to wait for it to self-correct by staying off of it for up to 30 seconds.  If I look at the trackpad icon on the bottom right of the taskbar while it's messing up, the trackpad is registering multiple fingers. I'll use one finger, and the icon will display 1 finger, 2 fingers, 3 fingers, 1, 2, 1, 3, 4, etc.  Like I said, I just have to wait it out for it to go away.  And on one occasion, I noticed that even if I hovered my finger above the trackpad without actually touching it, it would still register fingers, like it was being super super sensitive or something. I've tried everything reasonable to fix it, tweaking the settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the trackpad, updating the drivers, using the OEM drivers, and nothing works.  It's getting very annoying, and ... Hello There is a feature in Lenovo Ideapad 310 which is being annoying to me: the trackpad is deactivated when I press a key in the keyboard. How this can be configured on Xubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and on Asus M2400Ne with a Synaptics device, looks like this is solely a software issue, but I was not able to find where is this configuration on Windows 10. The Windows 10 options in Configurations-> Devices-> Mouse and Touchpad had no effect, even the option to delay the time between I use the keyboard and click was not effective. Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse had no option to change this too. I have searched and found this topic, but I am seriously concerned regarding messing with Windows registries. I do not want to change registries I do not know because I need the capability to boot the computer after this. I tried to find the registries cited on that topic, but could not find them. Is there a option somewhere which I can deactivate this behaviour? All drivers are updated using the System Update program that came installed on the computer. Windows 10 is updated too. Thank you.

Ever since a Windows update took place last night, my keyboard and trackpad won't work. Hi, Normally, you just need to turn off SmartSense or PalmCheck the Synaptics control panel - however from what I've seen, this no longer seems to work for Windows 10 versions of this driver. You may be able to get around this as follows. First, download the Synaptics driver on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. Synaptics Driver Version 17.0.18.8 Turn off your wireless card ( should be f12 ). Open windows control panel, open Programs and Features, right click the current Synaptics driver and select Uninstall. When complete, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder and run the Synaptics installer - when this has completed, restart the notebook again. Open the Synaptics settings panel, disable SmartSense or PalmCheck and then check if the touchpad will now work with a keyboard key held down.  If it does, turn your wireless card back on and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating the Synaptics driver. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3073930 Regards, DP-K

Hi there,

Any help would be massively appreciated here as have really run out of ideas with this problem!

Unit: Macbook Pro mid 2010 model

All was working fine until one day, after using a projector in work, the unit was shutdown. When it came back on both the keyboard and the trackpad no longer function.

Key facts so far:

The keyboard responds just after power on, so that a command via the keys can occur i.e. press C to boot from disc or cmd S for single user mode etc BUT once the operating system has booted up, neither the keyboard or trackpad work.

If I plug in a USB mouse/keyboard all works fine. Also, if I use an external bluetooth keyboard and mouse all is fine.

The OS is completely up-to-date and runs on 10.6.8.

The keyboard backlight work fine.

Actions so far:

I have run both Disc Utility verify disc and also Disk Warrior - no difference.
I have repaired permissions within disc utility - no difference.
I have completely erased (zero pass) the hard drive and re-installed the operating system from the disc - problem still there.
I have tried Applejack also - no difference.
I have reset PRAM / NVRAM using usual method - no difference.
I have started in Safe Mode - problem still there i.e. cannot use keyboard or trackpad even in safe mode.

The only thing that has happened is that, when I booted into Single User Mode, the system went a little crazy and kept repeating the an error relating to AppleUSBMultitouchDriver 0xe000404f over and over. I was unable to do... Read more

1) What happens if you uninstall the USB mouse and only have the touchpad online?
2) Also, are you using an external monitor plugged into the S/VGA port?  Reason for asking:  in the old days, if during a monitor swap, a certain monitor pin was accidentally bent and not making contact, the keyboard and mouse would not respond.  Wait, you said you can use mouse, keyboard, touchpad in BIOS?  Then, #2 doesn't apply to you.

I was wondering whether any of you might know and suggest an online reseller (official or otherwise), where I could get hold of a replacement keyboard. Now, I suppose backlit keyboard versions of newer Yoga laptops will not work I guess, will they? From what I have read Yoga 13 Silver does not have the slot required for backlit, but aside that, will the keyboard function and will it fit (dimension-wise)? If so, what is the voltage and current required? Would soldering a small battery to the backlit cable be a good idea (I accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to regulate it)? Thank you in advance!ck

For a while now my my detachable Keyboard, Trackpad and Mouse have kept stopping. It has happened before and cured itself but so far not this time. A new and odd behaviour is that after closing down and relaunching everything does work, for about two seconds only, just enough time to log in and click one item in the Taskbar. From then on I have to rely on Touch, until I set up a standby Bluetooth board and mouse which are not perfect but enable me to keep using my 2-in-1 PC.

As it may not recover of its own accord or may take a long time to do so I would be relieved if someone can diagnose what might be happening and how to prevent it. Is it a hardwear or a software issue?
