Q: Lenovo Singapore Support stinks

Last week i brought my 2.5 yrs old T440 to Lenovo Bugis suppt center to replace a cracked LCD back cover (one fine day i noticed a crack along the righthand side hinge and after opening, the cover was hard to close & open!). I had a queue tkt that said waiting tme approx 5 mins, but it took 20 mins for the front desk asst to call me. He rightly said the warranty had expired and they need to charge me $50 (+gst) to assess how much it would cost to fix it. When i asked what they want to assess as the laptop was working fine, he said in that case i should pay $30 - to source for the broken part and only after that they can tell how much would the total repair cost be! To me, it didn't make sense as they are the 'makers', but the guy started explaining the parts are made by 3rd party suppliers and and that's the process they hv to follow for 'older' models! Then another colleague of him came to explain, but he also couldn't tell me the rational for not able to tell me upfront the charge for replacing a 'highly visible' broken part! They are cheats in my opinion!! I have been a ThinkPad user for nearly 20 years and never experienced such poor quality machines and bad service!!! Hell with Lenovo.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hi  We have purchased a Lenovo Yoga Laptop on 20.01.17. From 10th of April onwards , there is some issues with Laptop Power Button .We are not able to switch it on using power Button. We had a talk with call center executives, Senior Executives & service Head of Kolkata, but still there is no proper update. We are still in Dark .They are not able to provide any proper information about parts availability.Ticket Ref No. is 7007963157.As the Laptop is very high valued  & purchased on the month of Jan.We are in regular touch of Service Head since last week & he is still not able to provide proper info about the parts availability .NOw he says he is sending an engineer to inspect.THis is not at all acceptable.  Any suggestions Would be helpful.

I have been wondering why there are two methods to get updates for my X1 Extreme.One update method is via the Lenovo Vantage application (under Windows 10 Programs)The other method is to go to the Lenovo Support page (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-...); I used the full URL with model number, but you can also use the main support page and use 'Dectect Product' which uses Lenovo Service Bridge to detect the laptop model and serial #. I have used both, but am probably going to stick with Lenovo Vantage. Which method are most of you using? PSell is similar in this regard. They also have multiple update apps / methods for some reason.

We have purchased several new Lenovo P1 mobile workstations and Lenovo X1 Extreme notebooks - they're very similar and working well for our needs.  One question/feature request - can we get the Lenovo Display Optimizer applet that controls the color gamut on the X1E updated to also support the P1?  Both of the models we purchased have the 4K UHD displays - why doesn't the P1 support this application?  Thanks!- Kirk

New Yoga 700-141SK: Ran the Lenovo Support Center Hardware Scan and the Video Card Mathematical Operations Test has failed rendering the Report: WVC007002-UL7BPL. Is there a tried and proven solution out there? I have had a look at the solutions on the forum and am not satisfied that the solutions offered prove that the problem has been resolved. It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

A few weeks ago I saw the Lenovo K430 on NewEgg while shopping for a new Desktop. I was amazed by the K430?s features and great looks. However, after doing some research I became very baffled about the Power Turbo Switch and the many horror stories about upgrading the graphics card. I called Lenovo Technical Support to talk about possibilities and get advice about the graphics card, a woman answered the phone and informed me she had no idea or information about graphics card; but she recommended I speak to Sales. I was transferred to sales and they too informed me that they knew nothing about the computer or graphics card. I decided to call B&H Photo, the name sounds deceiving but they really are the best with support. The Technical Support told me if I really wanted a great computer I should think about building my own. So today, I embarked on the journey to build my own computer and I want to say thank you to Lenovo. Good evening! I have a Lenovo Edge 2 that has been babied since purchased. Never abused, dropped, no scratches or dents, it's in fantastic condition still. I purchased the extended warranty, hoping I'd never need it.Last year, it stopped charging properly. The battery power dropped to 0%, and hasn't increased since. The machine will only power on when plugged in to AC power, and will immediately power down when the adapter is disconnected. The charging status indicator LED on the right side of the machine flashes orange in a non-steady, intermittent pattern, and the charging indicator in the taskbar in Windows 10 does the same thing. I returned the machine to Best Buy, they sent it to their "Geek Squad" facility for repairs, and the AC Adaptor and battery were replaced, under warranty. The machine was returned to me, and still doesn't charge.I contacted Lenovo, they advised I would need to return it to their facility for repairs. I put it in the provided box, and dropped it off to FedEx on 6/24/17. It's now been 2 weeks. I contacted Lenovo to inquire about the status of the repair, and was told "The technician found evidence of damage, and the upper case will need to be replaced as well, but damage isn't covered under warranty, so you'll need to cover the cost of the repair." I asked for the price, was told "A technician will email you with the price." Hello Community,I also was one of the unfortunate consumers who bought the Lenovo 730 2-in-on 15" and within a week the flickering started. Took it to BestBuy and they shipped it to Lenovo for repair. The paper I was given did not indicate how the issue was fixed so I asked the guy and he had to go in the back and get another piece of paper that stated both cable connections from the motherboard to the monitor were replaced. 2 months later the problem returned but with more severity. The screen starts with flickering then eventually goes completly white. I am outside the 30 day refund policy Lenovo offers but these flawed laptops should be an exception to that rule. The design of this particular product is flawed and nothing will fix it according to many of the posts I have read. I chatted with a representative for Lenovo on their website and to fix the issue I was offered the option of having a technician come to my house to fix the issue. And was told that the technician would come after the parts came in. I knew at that point that they were going to replace the same cables and insisted my case be excalated to a case manager. I heard from the case manager and she offered me a replacement with the same Lenovo Yoga 730 15" but with a few upgrades; i7 processor, 16 gig memory, 512GB hard drive. Not sure if I'm writing for help in the correct category. Please let me know if I'm in the wrong place. I would also like to add that I am completely pc illiterate.

I recently lost my web cam connection. I've installed & reinstalled everything several times with no avail. I've even done a system recovery (boy was I was sweating when I did that) Thought that was the end of my pc! My friend is on a Mac notebook and is using aim 4.7 whom I am trying to connect with and I'm on a pc, (windows xp) Our connection (when we were able to connet a while back) was always very lousy but at least we were able to connect somewhat. We are both stay at home moms and we both really miss our web cam connection. I've tried to connect via aol, aim, aim 6.0 and aim pro which all did not work. I've called Labtec (web cam people) and they told me to call aol. I've called aol and they told me to call Labtec.

Hi All,I booted my pc and found that my home page had been changed to some kinda website called protect advanced cleaner. I downloaded some antivirus softwares and it removed some stuff and put my homepage back to msn.com but it's still grayed out and i can't change stuff cause it's telling me that i have to have administration priviledges to do that even though i am the administrator. I have an Epson Stylus c80 inkjet printer that has never given me a good color print job. Mostly I always get those vertical bands and lines running through. I know that's probably a common thing, but I've tried every utility to solve it - the head cleaning, nozzle cleaning, etc. Nothing works. This has gone on since the day I brought it home, about 2 yrs ago. I only use Epson cartridges. I've contacted Epson..they just tell me to use Epson cartridges..I tell them I DO!..they just repeat themselves..so no help there.

I researched printers pretty thoroughly and thought I was getting a great printer. Now I don't trust myself! Any recommendations for a printer that does a good, reliable color printing? I've hung in with this disaster as long as I can.

I'm NOT doing any high-quality photo-type printing at all - - I'm just talking about printing quick, small things like jewel case covers, or things I do in Paint, or small pictures from the internet. The color itself is okay, but it's the bands and lines running vertically through them that are always present and I cannot solve. That's what I want to avoid in a new printer.

Got the new FF update last night, what a bummer!!!  Many book marks disappeared, the look and feel has changed much to my dislike.  I wonder if I can revert to the last version?  Is anyone else not happy???

 My Firefox v56 updated yesterday to v57. My 'add-ons',the ones that i deem important ie. Ad-blocker & Privacy Badger were still there,so on that count everything was ok.
However,regarding the hoped for increase in broswer speed - it simply hasn't materialised !. It's as slow as v56,which was never that bad that i lost sleep over it.
   All my bookmarks are still in place,& the only thing that seems to have changed is the Homepage appearance. All in all,a waste of time - at the moment. I'll await further updates in the hope that eventually Firefox v57 will live up to the months  of 'hype'
   I had 'Auto update' turned on & it didn't update on the 14th. I turned auto UD 'off' & then had to turn it back on again for v57 to install,which it did within seconds.
  I suppose to give Mozilla the benefit of the doubt - this is a brand new version,'relatively' untried except for the Beta version,so we should expect a few glitches. However,since most of the hype was about 'speed' - i'd have expected that to be there from the first second it went live - it wasn't. Just something else that's been 'improved worse' !!!. (At the moment)

Hard drive froze last week, new drive, Windows 7 won't let me install IE8, only IE9. Really hate IE9 (tried the Beta when it came out). Just moved and all documents are 400 miles away. Would really like to download IE8. Not that computer literate. Thanks in advance.

I have been here, done this before, still need some advice.

I am using DirectCD 3.01C, on a PentiumII, 450 Mhz, Gateway PC with 256Mb RAM, and using a HP 9100 CD Burner. My Norton AV is updated weekly, so I know I don't have a virus.

I reformatted about a month ago because of this same problem. [you can look up my past letter on TSG] It was suggested I reformat the C: drive by a PC tech at a computer store after he played with my PC for a couple days, charged me $213, and didn't do a thing for me.

After I reformatted and reinstalled Adaptec DirectCD, I could copy small files and photographs neatly to a CD-RW and I could copy full CDs to CD-Rs with no problems. (I could alway copy full CDs with CloneCd without any problems.) Single file copying worked fine up until about yesterday, then I started getting the same problem ~ Adaptec DirectCD would not recognize an already formatted CD-RW with files on it. If it did recognize it, it would take a very, very long time to try to copy those few little files [10 to 300 kb long] and then it would quit with the standard error [it has become standard to me, I see it so much] "...this CD has an unrecoverable read/write error, you should move all your files off this disk, blah, blah, blah..."

Any suggestions or ideas out there? Am I one of the few [or many] that is beginning to think that this technology or the software is still in it's infancy and is not a really good way to backup or do I need another softw... Read more

I have an Inspiron 1000. It originally had XP on it, but stupid me wanted the most updated OS so guess what I went and did?? That's right! I put vista on my lappy and now it just plain stinks! A slug moves faster than my laptop does!! How do I remove vista from my laptop and reinstall xp? I have tried reinstalling with cd and it doesn't give me the option to install(appears vista is alot harder to get rid of-kinda like the flu!) Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this? DSL (cable)- download speed is great, but the upload speed has gone away. Seems that I can send emails and such but at a much lower speed. I attached a log to look at. Any help is appreciated. Win98se and IE6

I can't open a installasion, it closes change or remove programs, it closes most of the stuff!! Even it's own settings!!! So I'm asking if I can delete the DEP. Can I?

A:Data Execution Prevention Stinks

First make sure you are installing known good software (not something questionable).

You can disable DEP for the software you are installing by going to System Properties > Advanced tab > Performance settings button > Data Execution Prevention tab > tick the button for Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select. Then Add the program you are having trouble with.

You can also completely disable DEP for all programs by editing the boot.ini file (C:\boot.ini) by changing /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN to /NOEXECUTE=ALWAYSOFF. You must reboot for the change to take effect.

As online gaming grows in popularity ESET researchers found that cybersecurity measures haven't kept pace as 36 percent gamers reported actively turning off security software if they found it was slowing down their computer.

The study, conducted by Google Consumer Surveys, polled 500 gamers and found that 52 percent of respondents said they don't even use security software on their gaming computers, according to a Sept. 13 blog post.

Gamers stated numerous reasons for their lack cybersecurity hygiene with 20 percent saying they don't need it, 13 percent saying they don't like they pop ups, 12 percent saying it slowed down their computers, and eight percent saying that it interrupts their gaming experience.

Researchers warn whenever security settings are disabled, users run the risk of malware stealing their login credentials and using gaming accounts for malicious activity which could lead to the legitimate user getting banned from the gaming platform for someone else's actions.

The stolen accounts could be used for botting, item farming, and other activities without the account owner's knowledge.

So I purchased a new T470s in December. After a few months, started having intermitent wi-fi, keyboard, and WWAN issues. Created support ticket was relatively easy. Spent an hour on the phone and got the RMA. Thought to myself that was easy. Next day box showed up to ship laptop back. Told me I'd have it back in 7 days.  Seven days later I go online and see it's listed as "Waiting on Customer". No big deal I thought, I'll call and straighten it out. After spending a total of 6 hours over the next 7 days trying to get in touch with someone at the Depot (an impossible task so I quickly learned), finally spoke a person. He asked me some more questions, and released the laptop from hold. A few days later I see that it is now in parts hold. Ok, I'm still patient, after several more days, we are now a long way off from seven days I originally was told. I'm still optimistic and wait it out. Finally on May 2nd my laptop showed up. It said it had a new keyboard, main board, and wifi module. I was thankful it was fixed, or so I've thought. Jump to two days later, and my wi-fi and WWAN are still intermittent at best. Running continuous pings to google and my wifi AP I have one time out from every four pings, which is enough to throughly anger Google Chrome and dramitcally kills any download speeds. So now I am torn, do I invest another month, and 10 plus hours of phone time for another repair, or do I bite the bullet and buy a new HP and count the Lenovo as a lesson learn... Lenovo,I got a new X1 Carbon last year - 16GB RAM & i7. Worked great but occasional BSOD. Finally caught an error in a RAM test and the system automatically opened a ticket for repair (Nice!). A week later motherboard sent, nice repair guy comes and replaces it. RAM checks clean but the next day I realise the camera no longer works. Update the ticket. A week later, they send a new camera and the guy comes back to replace the camera. No change - no camera. Update the ticket - this time they send a new motherboard. Nice guy comes back a week later and replaces the motherboard. Camera works again. Yeay! But now it is crazy slow. Turns out the new motherboard is an i5 with 4GB of RAM. Running Windows 10 means this is pretty much unusable. Nice guy says he will order me a new motherboard with the right part number. 2 days later he calls me back. They sent another i5 w/ 4GB of RAM. He will update the ticket. 3 days later, different nice guy comes out with the new part. Checks it out before installing it - i5 w/ 4GB of RAM. I am now waiting for my 6th visit and I have had an unusable laptop for over a month. Seriously, all the people I have been dealing with have been great but why is it so hard to just send the right part? PLEASE - How do we make this all go away so i can get back to enjoying my laptop? Thank youDavid.

I have been trying to contact Lenovo Support for the past hour and have just been lead in a big circle where I am not able to talk to an actual person. My laptop's screen has popped off and it is literally only a month past warranty and I just desperately need to know where I can get it fixed or if I can extend the warranty somehow. Lenovo Support was going to repair my laptop. I think it something like 30 days the ticket expires if they do not recieve the laptop. The person I spoke to said they would send me a box and label to ship the computer. It has been 15 days now and still no box. I called customer service again a few days ago and the person I spoke to this time asked again if I have reset the computer (I dont know what that has to do with the box) but he didnt really answer the question. Did they just forget to send it? I'm wondering if this is just a way to get out of fixing it because my warranty was a up a few days after the problem occured?

I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad product on 22.05.2015 in Guangzhou, China. I relocated to Turkey with this product that has an IWS. I faced with some problems with this product such as shutting down itself, web-cam malfunction.That's why I sent it for the support services to located authorized reseller S.B.T. in Turkey.The product waited 30 days and after this duration I took it back but some parts were not plugged in and wasn't screwed properly.I also had some performance issue and touchscreen malfunction after the first support.Then I left it back to support services and it has been waiting 50days on support services.I'm tracking the status of the product. All the parts of this product - touchscreen, hdd, keyboard etc. -has been changed, even Mainboard twice.Neither Lenovo Turkey nor authorized reseller can support me effectively. I believe that this problem can't be solved anymore, and I want this product to be replaced with another new one or similiar one but Lenovo Turkey does not support me!
