diffrent wallpaper for each display , glitching out.

Q: diffrent wallpaper for each display , glitching out.

im not sure exactly what to call this , but heres the best description I can give of the issue im having.

im running windows 10 , I use a different wallpaper for each of my 2 displays. (I set this up via running this command in run ( control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper ) which opens a setting menu. currently when I go to picture location , click pictures , and select a picture I would like to use and right click , instead of showing display 1 or display 2 , it instead shows , display 2 or display 2... so im unable to set a wallpaper on display 1. since its only showing 2 , display 2's. (see screenshot).

Here also my description of when this issue started occurring.

earlier today , one minute everything is fine , leave my computer , and after a few hours I return to it , notice the same wallpaper is on each display , even know earlier there had been a different image on each display. so I figured windows must of bugged out and checked these settings (control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper) however as I said , it only shows display 2 or display 2 , so I still thought it must of been bugged or something , so I restarted my computer , and its still like that. so im not sure what to do exactly , as for the past hour I have just been messing with my display settings in the windows 10 settings display and advanced display settings , but to no luck at fixing the issue on my own.

Here is also my computer specs if it helps at all.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

unfortunatly last night I fried my Amd motherboard in an xp computer by trying to adding a ram while the computer was up and running, anyhow I am trying to replace it with an intel celeron processor would I need a diffrent case or tower or would it just bolt right in there?
Could I have possibly damaged my hard drive as well?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've searched online already for an answer to this problem - already made some edits to my registry and that hasn't helped. I have Windows XP.

I recently had to remove some viruses/adware/spyware from my computer and I imagine something got deleted along with the removal of infected files.

Only thing that I am able to do with my wallpaper is change the background color - it won't display any pictures from the web or from my documents, or the pictures that came with the system. AND any of the editing I've made in the registry has only allowed/unallowed me to change the background color - done nothing for pictures.

Absolutely NO CLUE what to do from here. Nothing has helped.

A:Wallpaper won't display - help!!

amata43, welcome to TSF.

Do you know what viruses you removed?
There is a particular family of malware known as Smitfraud that hijacks the desktop background.

I would recommend you visit our Security Forum for a expert second opinion on whether your computer is malware free or not.

Start here:

Also, check your Display Settings.

Go to Control Panel > Display Properties > Desktop > Customise Desktop > Web Tab.
Under Web Pages - delete everything but My Current Home Page, and make sure the box is unticked.
Next, make sure Lock Desktop Icons is unticked.
Apply and OK your way back out.

Has this restored any functionality to your desktop?

For my wallpaper / background (which is the appropriate term?) I'm having trouble with the display. In XP it was easy, I could take whichever wallpaper and change whether it was tiled, centered, etc. In Win 7 I don't see how to do that, it doesn't seem possible. This wouldnt be a problem if all the pictures displayed the same way but it cycles through all my pictures and some cant be stretched across the whole screen without looking horrible.

Any solution?

I've recently found that windows is no longer showing only images from "C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpapers". It is now showing that directory PLUS all my pictures in "My Documents\My Pictures". With XP you can right click start>explore scrool down to the second windows you see>click the plus to open the tree>scroll down to the web folder and click the plus to expand >and click wallpaper. All the wallpapers should open on the right and you can delete the ones you don't want in there or move them elsewhere.

Hi there,

I'm trying to change the way a wallpaper is displayed on the desktop (i.e. Stretch, Tile, Centred) but I can't. The wallpaper is always displayed stretched out and I can't change it to be tiled or centred.

The way I'm doing this (to no avail) is obviously to right-click the desktop, then choose "Personalize", then click on "Desktop Background", then click one of the three radio buttons at the bottom (in this case, either of the two on the right), then click "OK".

Can anyone please help, this is extremely frustrating!

A:Desktop Wallpaper Display Problem

Hello Cancerous, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If the image that you are using is to large or small in size, then it may not display properly. Test by getting or resizing a copy of the image to something that is closer to your screen resolution may work better for you.

Hope this helps,

I am having the same exact problem as this guy did in this thread:

I got rid of a virus for a friend, and I have never seen such a problem like this... The pictures won't display for folders or pictures, or let me change the desktop to a picture.. I can get the pictures to show up if I go to Pictures and click the view button a couple times, but when I go to close the window and open up pictures again they're blank and so I have to click the view button to show them again..

When I run HJT it says that it cannot get write access to my hosts file, but all it contains is " localhost"

I also tried using suggestions in this thread as well:

Wallpaper options are only limited to .bmp files and will not automatically build the list from the My Pictures directory, including .jpg files. I can not remember the setting to change this; although this is not the main concern.

I am able to select and browse for different images by accessing the Display properties (right click on desktop, properties) yet when I apply the image, the background is only responsive to the color selected in the lower right hand corner. This is true for all profiles on the local machine.

The "Web" tab listed under "Customize Desktop" is automatically disabled after a manual registry edit enabling "Active Desktop". I have not found any additional software installed that would be disabling this setting - not to say that it isn't there.

I have run countless spyware/maleware scans with current versions of Spybot Search&Destroy in normal mode and recently in SafeMode.

I've reviewed the HijackThis log and it seems to be clean from all malware.

I've also scanned the system with F-Prot and have a clean system to the best of my understanding.

Any ideas?

Hey guys,

This is my first post on here and I hope you guys can help me. I have tried to be as detailed as possibly but please let me know if you require any more information.

I was recently struck with a Trojan that disabled my Anti-Virus software and Windows Defender. (wintems.exe/hdlrr.exe) I took care of that with GMER and some other assorted programs. I installed AVG Free and ran a full system scan to clear out anything I missed (it picked up one or two files) so I should now be clean.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this but I have also scanned my computer with the most current versions of Spybot S&D and AdAware 2007 and removed anything they picked up.

Ever since I removed the trojan/viruses though I have been having a very strange problem with Vista Home Premium (SP1) and I'm not sure what is happening. I have searched extensively and have found others with similar issues but nothing has worked for me yet. I thought I found a link to a Microsoft Hotfix that sounded late last night but I figured the issue would be resolved with the SP1 update and now I can't find the link again.

Anyways, recently Vista decided to stop showing my background wallpaper. If I right click on the desktop and go to personalize, I can click desktop background, but non of my pictures show previews. I can click on them and mouse over the details but if I try to set a picture it won't do anything.

Hi guys,

I'm running Windows 8 pro with 2 screens.

The desktop wallpaper disappears quite often. Sometimes if I "refresh" on a certain screen, the desktop will come back temporarily.

Any idea on how to fix this?

A:Dual Display Wallpaper Disappearing issue

You did not provide any information in your "My System Specs" so we don't know what kind of PC/Laptop you have. However, I am giving you some guess work here:
Update your video driver to the latestResize the wall paper to match exactly the same as your monitor resolutionIf the file size of the Wallpaper you use is huge then you might need to optimize it down to reasonable size so it will not take too much time to load/refresh. Normally the size of the wallpaper is 300-400K but I've seen cases where people use an image with 2-3 Meg in size.
Hope this helps !!!

This problem seems ridiculously inconsistent, but it happens often enough to be extremely aggravating.

If I leave my computer (Dell XPS M1530 notebook) idle for anywhere from 5+ minutes (I have not timed it exactly) and the display turns off or the machine enters "sleep mode" I cannot resume it! Upon pressing enter, the computer wakes up and displays only my wallpaper. No icons, programs, anything!

The only keystroke the computer responds to is Ctrl+alt+del. At this point the only thing I can do is restart the computer and then quickly press "Cancel" when given the choice to do that or "force restart" (while it is trying to close down the various programs I have open). Unfortunately, by then it has already closed off at least a couple of programs.

I have tried to log off or hibernate, etc, but these do not work. Has anyone else experienced this? I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition.

Can anyone help me!!!

I recently had an annoying pop-up on my screen telling me I was infected , my Norton had expired so I loaded all the McAfee gubbins I got with my EasyNote E2 in 2005, after doing a scan it found 1 trojan and about 15 potentially harmful things!

Not thinking , I deleted the lot even though it said that some files may be linked to applications and now when I boot up I get the PB purple screen, then the XP screen and the blue welcome screen, after this I see the picture I set as wallpaper stretched over the entire screen, then the screen goes pink (colour I chose for background) but once the icons start appearing on the desktop the screen goes white with a slight tinge of pink aound the icons. I can't even browse for pics to set as wallpaper and when I go into MY PICTURES and right click to "set as wallpaper" nothing happens. THIS IS REALLY GETTING ON MY NERVES NOW HAS ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS FOR ME TO TRY.

Also, if I do a restore to before I loaded the McAfee, will it take everything off since that date? (about 2 weeks ago).

A:Problems with my Desktop display and wallpaper after virus

The restore would be my first suggestion...and no, it wont remove anything that you have done as far as files etc....only thing it will do is restore registry files, and some other small settings.

Other than that, I'd try a repair install using the operating system disk. If you don;t know how to do that, let us know.

I'm having problems with my wallpapers intended to span the length of both monitors....

My main display is on the right instead of the left and when i use a wallpaper that spans both screens it starts on the main display on the right and spans to the left screen instead of starting on the left screen and spanning to the right. Is there anyway to fix this other than moving the 2 monitors physically or changing my main display to the left monitor?

It works fine if i make the left monitor my main display but i use the right monitor as my main because it has internal speakers and if it doesn't get any signal it goes to sleep muting the sound.

First of all; Thanks to anyone taking the time to read this and help me with my minor issue!

I have been running dual screen setup for awhile now and early on I realized that I had to set the monitor on the left to the 'Main Display' so that tiled wide resolution images would span across both monitors.

Hi andeas and welcome

there are many different causes. Most related to memory. I would also un-install your video driver and install a fresh copy

I would first download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes that will tell you if it is memory of possibly heat

also run a system file check
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

Also if you are overclocking STOP
If you have a raid update its driver

If a reinstallation of the software is needed, must I purchase a new license? In general, no. If the same version of the software is reinstalled on the same machine or is not concurrently installed on any other machine, no new license is required. Additional licenses are generally required for installations above and beyond those allowed by the product's EULA. Is it possible to transfer a license to another computer?Consumers should refer to the terms of their license agreement to determine whether or not it is legal to transfer a license to another computer. But in those cases where it is allowed, the product must first be removed from the previous computer. I ordered 2 AthlonXP 2100s off googlegear.com . One was retail, other OEM. The retail was green like the pictures I've seen from reviews on the net. The OEM is standard "brownish" like all other AMD CPUs. Both have "2100" written on the core, in the same places(also both have "AGOIA" written in the same places), but they have diffrent numbers/letters after the 2100/AGOIA. Whats the deal here?

A:2 Diffrent AthlonXP 2100's?

Are the model numbers any different? I built a PC for a friend of mine awhile ago with an XP 2100+, and it was green. And my current XP 2100+ is brown. The previous XP 1900+ that I owned was green as well, and when I built the 2nd PC in my household, the XP 1700+, it is green as well.

Ah yes I think one's a TBred and the other is a Palomino. This would be the most logical answer. Different architectures.

A:Reload Xp On Toshiba, Is It Diffrent?

You will have to contact Customer Service http://www.csd.toshiba.com/ Give them the model number and the service tag or serial number and they will send you recovery CD's for a nominal fee (around 20 bucks).

I have a window 98,and I'm thinking about getting another computer that is xp.Can I hook these 2 computer for networking? And what do I need to do a networking?I have dial-up.

A:2 diffrent kinds of windows

First of all it doesn't matter that u have a dial-up connection. All u need to have is a NIC(Network Interface Card) on both systems. If ur only goin to hook up one other computer then u might want to go with a cross-over cable. It's less expensive and does the same thig as a router/hub will do.Thats on the hardware side. But on the software side, u will have to enable ICS witch comes build-in with XP.

So all u need is a NIC on each system, cross-over cable, of course ur other computer.lol

hello !
my pc is getting kind of slow, so i want to upgrade it little bit, so i went and bought EVO 850 120gb SSD.
my question is, i got an OEM win 7 that installed by the company that i bought this pc from.
i want to delete the win 7 from that HDD, and reinstall with the same CD-KEY on my new SSD.

i got the disk from the company, that i dont know if i can install windows with it.
i know the product key only from my "my computer > settings" - is it a problem?

and for last, how can i do it?

A:want to reinstall my win7 on a diffrent SDD

Do you have the COA sticker on the machine? If so that is the key you need to use. You can use Gregrocker's Tutorial to do a Clean Install of Windows 7. You will be using the SSD in the original machine, so an OEM License will work for you.
The big thing to remember is that you cannot have the original HDD connected while you do this project. The SSD will become the primary drive. Also, you need to do a full backup of your personal information/files. Make sure you have all of the program discs as well.
You can download your version of Windows 7 from Digital River and burn it to a DVD. This is also explained in the Tutorials available here at Seven Forums.
Shalom and good luck

Hello to anyone reading and thank you for the help.
I have been getting BSOD several times for quite a long time. I have tried everything i could think of to repair them my self but it is beyond my knowledge. I get BSOD Watching Netflix, playing a Game and when using my accounting software. I ran Check Disk and it is coming up with an error as well, i dont know if that is related. I do believe a windows update that keeps failing is related to a corrupted file that Check Disk finds. I have made a cbs Log but honestly do not know what to look for. I will post both files here if there is anyone that could help me.
Thank you for your time.

A:BSOD playing diffrent games (CIV 5 and CS:GO)

Hi ploppen.

Counterfeit windows installations are enough cause of BSODs. As you cannot use a Dell OEM key on an ASUS motherboard.

Install windows afresh and activate it using a legit key. Get Service Pack 1 and all other updates. Let us know about any further BSOD.
