Preferred Solution: Gateway Timeout/server Error.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have you uninstalled SpywareBlaster? If not, try it and then see if you can access the sites above. If you can, then download a new copy of SpywareBlaster and install it - can you still access the sites?

I'm running Windows 8.1 on my laptop. I have Firefox, Pale Moon and Chrome browsers and they exhibit intermitant problems when loading websites. I frequently get "Server not found" "Bad Gateway" and some messages about DNS. I'm using a wireless router but the rest of the laptops in my house don't show any of these problems. Furthermore, I've tried this laptop on other networks and it's fine! Anyone know what's wrong?

I'm currently trying to run a query on SQL Server and i'm continuing to get a timeout error. I'm new to SQL Server 2000 and i've gone onto the help menu and changed the Query timeout to 0 which apparently means inifinty.

The specific error I'm getting is:

I am running this query from enterprise manager and i currently only have the Evaluation version which is being run off of Windows XP Professional.

I have been getting a pop up Internet Explorer window which displays a "504 Gateway time-out nginx" though I have not initiated Internet Explorer. Assuming some malware/adware. Most of the hits I get on a search for this discuss what a timeout is...I get that...doesn't help since I didn't start IE. I recently restored the computer with antivir rescue. It did indicate some problems with Internet Explorer and Microsoft works. Can I uninstall these apps? Think I tried uninstalling IE once and XP doesn't like that. I have run AVG, Malwarebytes. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

nginx is some kind of http mail proxy.
Go into your internet settings in IE and check the way it connects to the internet and make sure there is no proxy set.
I cant guide you because i haven't used IE since 02

It's either a setting in your router/computer (if you have a router) or spyware.

Did you run any spyware scans lately? If not, run Ad-aware and Spybot:

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. My Internet connection keeps getting dropped, and when I run the troubleshooter, I can get two different messages: "(DNS server) is not responding" or "The default gateway is not available." When I get the former, I have to restart my router. Any amount of time later, my connection is dropped again. It can be a day or just a couple of minutes.

I have been able to access my web server on port 80 without a problem for several years. Just recently, when I attempt to access the site, it loads extremely slowly or I end up with a gateway timeout. If I attempt to access the site over ssl on port 443 (or any other port), the page loads fast. I am not having issues with any other ports. When accessing the internet from inside the network on port 80 everything works fine. It seems like just port 80 inbound is effected. I have searched for a solution and could not find anything. I host my own DNS and my servers are Novell Netware 6.5 with apache2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there
Can anyone help? I'm having problems uploading files to my personal web site that is hosted by a Free ISP. I've sent them an email but I've been waiting nearly a week for a reply.

I'm trying to upload a file of about 500k to my web site using WS FTP LE 95. The file starts to transfer and stops after about a minute. The whole internet connection then dies, even though I'm still connected. I then have to disconnect and dial up again to get any internet access.

I've tried disabling/enabling the 'passive transfer' option, but the same thing happens every time. It seems like files of a certain size are being disallowed.

The only thing I can think of is that the web server has a timeout on it. I know sites like Planet Source Code have an upload limit, but I didn't think that would apply via FTP. If that's true, is there any way round the timeout?

A:Web server timeout?

Can you get any log messages from your ftp client? If not try SmartFTP. It lists the commands and error messages under the transfer window. That should help point you in the right direction.

Just wondered if both computers should be set the same which is "delete after 10 days"

I have an eMachines model T1090 computer, purchased in 2001, running Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2 installed (although the problem described below occurred before SP 2 was installed).

The problem may be related to the modem, which, according to Modem Properties is an HSP56 MR, manufactured by eMachines. The Properties screen describes it as located at PCI bus 0, device 31, function 6, and that it is “functioning properly.” The modem is connected to COM3. The software driver is provided by Microsoft and is version 2.3.2030.3, dated 05-16-01.

The problem is that when sending files with “large” files attached (actually, an attached file of 137 kB caused the problem to occur), I can visually see on the computer the transmission process come to a halt. Approximately one minute later, I receive the following error message:

“Connection timeout - no response from host”

Note that the problem does not occur when no files are attached. But when files are attached (the exact attached file size that causes the problem has not been determined, but so far, the breakpoint seems to be under 100 kB) it has occurred with two different ISP’s, two different email clients (Outlook Express and Pegasus Mail), and multiple attached file formats, including MS Word (.doc) and Excel (.xls).

I have also tried changing the server timeout (which I located once, but have not been able to find again), but all this did was change the wait time for receiving the error message from one minute ... Read more

Hello Everyone,
I am new to ATA myself and I am in the process of setting up the all the needed components to get the ATA implemented.
I plan to setup the ATA server and ATA Gateway on the same server.
Further to this the DC's, ATA Server and ATA gateway will be all on the same switch.
I want to mirror the ports trunking with the DC servers to the port where the server running the ATA server and ATA Gateway resides in.

Q1: Is this OK to do or should the ATA Gateway be installed on a separate server?

Q2: If I install the ATA Gateway and ATA server on separate servers can all the servers be on the same switch. (DC's, ATA Gateway and ATA Server)
Thank you,

If this error didn’t occur previously, a quick solution is to run System Restore and get back to the previous good status.
If System restore doesn’t help. Please also try the following:
Ensure all updates have been applied on the Windows 7 computer.
Run the following command in an elevated command prompt to check if there is any system file corrupted:
sfc /scannow
Hope this helps.

Installed ATA with no issues or errors. I've got a physical server running ATA Center and a separate physical server running ATA Gateway, and my Domain Controller is a physical server on the same network and VLAN.
I have two ports on my switch connected from the Domain Controller to the switch, and two ports on my ATA Gateway connected to the same switch.
For simplicity, port 1 and 2 on the switch are connected to the Domain Controller, port 3 and 4 are connected to the ATA Gateway.
Port 1 is set as a monitored port and port 3 a mirrored port in Mirror Group ID 1 on the switch.
Port 2 is set as a monitored port and port 4 a mirrored port in Mirror Group ID 2 on the switch.
I have confirmed with NetMon that bi-directional traffic can be seen between the Domain Controller and the Gateway on one of the NICs, but not on the other. I think this is due to there not actually being any traffic down the other as it is for redundancy
I believe.
The Gateway has successfully discovered the domain, DCs, users, computers etc, but I am not seeing anything in the timeline as yet (I realise I may need to wait a while for some actual events).
I also keep getting a high error: "Gateway not receiving network traffic", saying that the Gateway is not receiving mirrored traffic every half an hour or so. Could this be the interface that is connected to the redundancy port causing the error?
Since it is possible that no traffic is actually going down that port? ... Read more

Hello tag5183,

What browser are you using?

Try clearing the browser cache and temp files.

Did you check the spelling of the sites. The first site you posted isn't registering.

The second works fine.

Hey guys, I got a problem. My gf works in singapore, but I have to regularily check her emial for her because she can't get to a computer, well anyways for some odd reason I can't log into her hotmail account, however I can log onto her msn messenger. I tried logging on through the browser, and then I tried logging on through the msn messenger option. Both come up with a 504 Gateway time out. It looks like it's loading however it just errors up.

Thanks in advance guys!

im recieving a message error when using nero burning rom after the software prog has completed simulation of burn process the error reads as-scsi/ atapi timeout error
followed by burn failure
i have windows 98
128 meg ram
about 3gigs memory
intel82371ab/eb pc1 to usb universal host controller
intel 82371ab/eb pc1 bus master id
ive tested the wiring in the computer and made sure its connected correctly
ive also altered device setting of cd rom and disabled (dma)

A:timeout error using nero burning rom

Hi – welcome to the board.

Easy solution – skip the stupid simulation. You only have a problem if you can’t write a CD. You don’t necessarily have a problem if you can’t do a test burn. There doesn’t seem to be any relationship between a successful simulation and a successful burn, so most people learn to just skip the test and go straight to the burn.

Make sure your Nero is up to date: http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm and go to your burner manufacturer’s site and get the latest firmware.

I have installed Nero 6 (v6.3.0.0) on my computer running Windows Me.

I can listen to audio CD's, write audio CD's, copy from one data CD to another, and read software data from a CD.

But when I try to write data to a CD, the process starts but then hangs. My hard disk access light stays on all the time and the light on the CD drive flashes. After about 2 mins the Nero log tells me there is a timeout error.

Because the process doesn't go to normal end of job I don't get any log from the program.

The data I want to write are jpg files, but the same thing happens when I try to write a small Word document. I have tried it with and without my anti-virus, but it makes no difference. I tried creating a mixed disk of audio and data. The audio was written OK, but the data hung the system.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I recently build a new system and I have been having trouble getting it up and running. I am encountering several issues, but this BSOD is the only one that gives me any information. Here is what is in the system:
New Items:
Intel i5-4690k
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI
CoolerMaster Hyper TX3
Corsair Vengence Pro 8gbx2 DDR3
Rosewill RNX-N250PC2 Wireless N card
Thermaltake TR2 TR700 700W power supply
Thermaltake Commander G41 case
Transcend MTS800 M.2 SSD
Items from older PC:
Asus GTX 670
Various HDDs from older systems, one of which still has Win 8 installed.
Upon boot, I get one of three issues occuring.
1) BSOD with the watchdog timeout error
2) An 0xc000000e error
3) system locks up at Windows logo with spinning ring, just after the start page loads, or while using the system within 5 minutes of startup.
I have tried putting the ram in single and dual channels. I have verified they are in the correct slots with the Gigabyte manual. I have run them one at a time. So, I think if it was memory, both sticks would have to be faulty.
I have tried installing and re-installing windows to the SSD multiple times. The furthest I have gotten was setting up my Windows account. After the following reboot I ALWAYS start getting error 1, and sometimes get error 2 before the Windows load screen. I have tried downloading different copies of Windows online just to make sure I didn't have a bad copy. I figured I could update my license ... Read more

I appreciate any help anyone can give me on this problem. I used to be able to access a website http://www.packratwiki.com just fine. In the past 4 days though I have been unable to access it. I have tried using IE and Firefox on my desktop computer using XP. I also tried to access it from my laptop which has Vista using our wireless network with no luck. The only thing different I have done to my computer was add an external drive for storage. I have unplugged and uninstalled that though.

Network Timeout

The server at www.packratwiki.com is taking too long to respond.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

* Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.
* Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

I have tried bypassing my router by plugging in directly to my cable modem with no luck. I have cleared all temp files, cookies, etc. I have tried pinging the site from the command prompt and get a Request Timed Out e... Read more

I have a pretty simple page currently that has a SQL Source that's has the following query:

SELECT DialID, company, DBAname, transferred, transferred_date, salesagent, transferred_to
FROM contact
WHERE (transferred_date BETWEEN CONVERT(DATETIME, '2009-01-01 00:00:00', 102) AND CONVERT(DATETIME, '2009-01-30 00:00:00', 102))
ORDER BY transferred_date, salesagent
When I attempt to load my .aspx page, I get the below error 95% of the time although occassionally it successfully loads.

Hi everyone!

First of all, I was not quite sure of the forum's section where I should post this issue. Please relocate it if i made a mistake! :) I hope someone will be able to help!

Description of the problem. A few weeks ago, Chrome started having trouble accessing websites. It would load the results of a search, but wouldn't allow to load the websites themselves. Soon, the same thing happened on Firefox, the only other browser I currently have. After some time, none of them even loaded the results of a search; despite the fact that the connection (wi-fi) is, and has always been, very good. I don't know exactly what triggered the problem; since i haven't downloaded anything of a suspicious origin lately (or opened a suspicious .exe). Features of other programs that require an internet connection (ex: Avast or Steam updates) cannot proceed either. I tried to connect to several boxes, but the problem remained.

Here are the things I did to try to solve it, and the results:

- Turned off and on the box. --> Access to the sites came back to normal, but only during two hours or so: after that the connection timed out again. Restarting the box again did nothing.

- Ran a boot-time scan with Avast, and a full scan. --> It did nothing.

- Did some cleaning with CC Cleaner. --> Didn't help either.

- Used my phone as a hot-spot, and connected my PC to it. --> Access to websites came back during two hours, then stopped working.

- Looked for similar prob... Read more

So I have recently bought a new GPU for my pc build, (AMD R9 290), fitted it and installed all the newest drivers since having fitted it the PC keeps on powering down and rebooting. Three times in one night etc. It's not under and load or at any specific point, can do it at idle it just seems to be completely random. Event log says this every time;
"A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Component: AMD Northbridge
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error
Processor ID: 0"

As the GPU was new and a big step up from previous I thought it could possibly be the PSU, so since bought a Corsair 850W psu (over specced) but wanted to make sure it would be okay.
Error is still happening obviously.
I have updated to the latest BIOS from the asus website. I have done a memory check using memtest 86 all fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the GPU but still the same problem.
Processor is AMD FX-4170 not over clocked, I just dont know what the problem could be.
I was hoping if any of you guys could shed any light on it.
Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
(hope it all makes sense I have typed this quickly in fear of it rebooting haha!)
Can upload the mini dumps if that will help.
Thanks guys!

A:HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error

Check your voltage that your cpu is getting. This problem occurs between the AMD Northbridge and the cpu. Find out a) What the voltage that the cpu is supposed to be receiving, b) what the actual voltage the cpu is receiving via the BIOS, and c) if the voltage is off either set it to the recommended specs and if that isn't the case edge up the voltage in the BIOS and see if that brings stability.
