Ad banners giving 404 errors

Q: Ad banners giving 404 errors

When ever I go onto a site with an ad banner on it... such as Myspace... gerweck.net (a wrestling site) every ad banner shows up as the "Action Canceled" page and I get immediately taken to a 404 Error page saying different things like "mediaclick" could not be found... which I'm guessing is the banner.

Even if I press the stop button... it'll STILL take me to those pages, and I have no idea what's going on. I've run Ad-Ware, Registry Cleaner and AVG and I'm not getting a single thing. Anyone have any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Ad banners giving 404 errors

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I do not know if I am posting this in the right board or not but I am having all kinds of issues with my Dell Latitude D810 with XP. About a week and a half ago I got a pop up with a little red x down by the clock that said windows has detected spyware. I did not click on the x or anything but I used spybot search and destroy and it seems to have gotten rid of it. And since then my computer has since made it so I can not get on the internet and can not run alot of my programs. I try to start my comptuer in safe mode and it runs through the processes and then just freezes on a black screen with a list of system files. When I boot it up in regular mode it gives me the option to open WIndows XP Regular or Windows XP Configuration. If i try and open configuration it just freezes at a black screen. I have put AVG 8.0 Free and HJT on my computer from a home computer. I have all of those logs if that would help with an analysis. I am so confused as to what could be causing this and need your help please!!!!!!

You have SPYWARE!

Just had a customer last night with this problem. You have spyware! This particular one is called "spyaxe". Here's what you need to do.

a) Download SmitfraudFix here Read the notes on how to run it because you start in Normal Mode, switch the Safe Mode then back to Normal Mode.

b) Run Spybot Search & Destroy (download here)

Repost with results.

My brothers PC has started behaving very strangely over the weekend. He was complaining to me that a few games and apps he was trying to install would say give errors saying the source file was corrupt. AVG install files, nvidia drivers, D2D games, all corrupt. I thought they were bad downloads, so I gave him a copy of one of my games, and when he tried to install that, it gave a CRC error saying the disc in drive is corrupt. I just installed that game 2 days ago on my PC no prob, so its not the disc.

So we back up all of his files and decide to reinstall Vista. I wipe both drives clean, and install Vista on Disk 0. He got to install a few drivers from the mobo disc, but when he went to install the nVidia driver, he got another error - this time one saying the file is meant for 32-bit Vista, and that he had the wrong OS. Well thats wrong, hes definitely using 32-bit Vista, the file says 32-bit Vista...so again, very strange error.

So my next thought is that his HDD is failing and corrupting the data on it, so we install Vista on his second HDD...with the exact same results. I'm at a loss here as to what is going on. Could it be his RAM? MOBO? Anyone have any tips on how to troubleshoot this further?

Thanks in advance.

I am new to this site.  I have a licenced version of Kaspersky on my computer and it keeps giving errors and says that some files are corrupted when I try to download an update.  I tried to follow various advice given on various files, starting with deleting all temporary files, but a few would not delete and further reading states that these could be malware

I have an External USB.
It was a GPT Disk.
I turned it to an mbr disk and created a NTFS Primary Partition and problems started.
Ok, it is there, then in the middle of the copy, it is not.
Or it is there, but the copy process gets stucked.
Sometimes format is possible , sometimes not.
Before this conversion from GPT to MBR; the drive was 90% full.
So, if I have a drive like this having problems with;
how can make it work healthy again, that is if I can?
Do I write it with zeros? Do i format it with external software?
Do I format with from command prompt?
Do I format it to fat32 and ntfs?
What ways can return my drive to the healthy way of working before I converted it?
By the way, I checked and changed the plug and USB Cable and tried different ports.

When I connect the drive, I see the warning of "This drive can work faster if you connect it to a USB 3.0 port". I can see the drive in the "Safely Remove Drive Section" with its name,
But I can't see the drive in Windows Explorer or in Disk Management!
What the heck?

Hi Clancy141,Apologies for the long delay--this forum is extremely busy. Your log shows signs of serious infection, but since it has been so long I will need to see another log so I will know what has changed. Please also let me know what you have been doing in the meantime to resolve this problem.Instead of just a new HijackThis log please do the following:Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts. If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimizedCopy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply. If you have any problems with the logs, both can be found in C:\Deckard\System Scanner. Also one question--this appears in the HJT log header:MSIE: Unable to get Internet Explorer version! That means HJT could not find Internet Explorer on your system. Let me start off by giving the specs of my machine. It's a Gateway FX that I bought from Newegg this past June and below is a screenshot of the specs. And here is the Newegg Link to the computer so you can see more specs.

I'm having a lot of problems with my Vista right now and was wondering if someone here might be able to help me solve my problems. Let me give you a quick run down of what's been happening. About a week ago, I went to bed and put my computer in the low-power state (see below).

I usually do this at night because I hadn't thought it would be a problem. I had two programs up and running when I did this - Firefox (version 3.5.3) and Microsoft Word 2007. The Word document was just blank and I left this up often because with my new computer it only came with a trial version of Microsoft Office and I didn't want to keep wasting my trial usages each time I needed to open it. Either way, I woke up the next morning and my computer had shut down. I didn't really think anything of it. I figured maybe updates had been done and it had shut off or something (there was no power outage). I turned on my computer for the day and that is when my problems began.

I opened up Firefox and was just checking my gmail and such when Firefox closed. I didn't think anything of it and opened it back up again. It closed shortly thereafter again and I thought something might be up. I ran CCleaner and Spybot - Search and Destroy and SB-S&D didn't find anything and CCleaner... Read more

Hi everyone,

My parents' 2-year-old HP Pavillion Media Centre m8200n desktop with Vista Home Premium SP1 is basically dead. For the past few months it would get the BSOD with various stop error codes every so often. No application/action seemed to cause it; it would just happen randomly. After turning the machine off and on again it was usually fine.

In the past week it started doing it more and more until yesterday when the computer would only stay on for a few minutes and then either go to the BSOD or a black screen. After turning it off and on it would stay on without crashing for shorter and shorter periods of time until it couldn't even get to the user selection screen. After leaving it off for a while and then turning it on it will go back to being able to stay active for a few minutes again but no longer, and then it just repeats the cycle of the time it can go without crashing decreasing. A few times when it crashes a high-pitched repeated beep comes from the tower. When I boot the computer into safe mode it can last a few minutes longer but not much, and eventually still crashes.

After rebooting the computer and basically giving up on trying to recover the files left on there because the thing won't stay responsive for long enough to let me, I decided to run system restore. The computer came with a recovery partition so I tried to recover from that. The first time I tried to get the recovery program to back up our personal files but it crashed as soon as it had g... A:Computer keeps on restarting and giving errors even when installing XP

Start with disconnecting any extra devices, ie printer, scanner, etc.

Next test your hardware. Download and run both memtest and the hd maker's utility for checking the drive.

Once you are sure the hardware checks out OK, then you can attempt an install of the os.

BTW those type of errors are almost always caused by a hardware problem; either a failing hd or memory. Next in line would be a failing power supply or a failing motherboard.

I got an EeePC about 2 weeks ago. It's running WinXP Home SP2 and has a 4GB SSD (it's a subnotebook). I upgraded the RAM from 512 to 2GB. Everything was perfect until Thursday when I inadvertently downloaded a theme file from Appleblossomart.com (AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE) that had the Win32/Gaelicum.A virus. I got rid of it using the vcleaner tool from AVG. After I finished I ran several AVG scans, all came back clear. I ran the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and it found nothing. All was good until Saturday when I clicked shutdown and a window popped up Windows Live Mail couldn't be closed automatically and did I want to manually shut it down (I had already exited the program before clicking shut down). I said yes and it closed and the system shut down normally. I rebooted to see if everything was fine and when I went to shut down this time I got:

then I run the windows update it download a creative driver which when installed does show me 4.1 speakers but now the EAX control panel wont open & gives error

any clue what went wrong & how can I get this working?

Yes, this,

On installation of the drivers & sound it detects by old speakers as stereo only but all 4 speakers give sound which is too bad, I can now use the EAX control settings

Don't install the driver from Windows Update if things are working. In fact it is a good idea to NEVER install a sound or video driver from Windows Update, they haver a very bad habit of breaking things.

Uninstall the Windows Update driver and see if things start working again. If that doesn't work running System Restore using the last restore point before the Windows Update driver got installed should fix it.

So my Mcafee expired today and I decided I was going to try Bitdefender. Uninstalled Mcafee first and then installed Bitdefender. Luckily I decided to try the trial version first because chaos has broken loose on my computer. I can't run any programs -- task manager, thunderbird, mozilla programs, Winpatrol ect... --firefox works for some reason though.

Anyway, I keep getting a failed to initialize error. I don't know what to do. I work from home and can't do anything right now. I made an account on the Bitdefender forum and when I'm signed in I'm NOT AUTHORIZED to view posts or to post myself. What is that crap!? I can't get support from them? Really? Yeah, I really want to buy your product now. Psh.

The clock is ticking and I have a ton of work to do so I decided to just uninstall Bitdefender. About half way through it says I don't have permission to delete it and I'm forced to hit cancel. Ugh. So I google that and I've found a Bitdefender uninstall tool through their forum (when I was signed out). When I try to run it I once again get the failed to initialize error (The applicaion failed to initalize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application.).

Someone please help! I'm freaking out. I've also tried a system restore and I get the same error message. What can I do?

I'm running Vista and the only other active antivirus type program that would be active is Winpatrol, which is also not working.

A:BidDefender is giving me failed to initalize errors

Try this program, kills Security stuff http://www.appremover.com/ - Ive never tried it. There must be some major conflict. I dont know Bitdefender at all but there is a almost similar Failed to scan threat here http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...ailed+initalize and hints on how to uninstall manually. But may be you have seen already. xp-AntiSpyNero 8PunkBuster Servicesare mentioned as incompatible. Likely to be more, like 80% uninstalled Mcafee ;) but dump it for now at least. Dont they have a knowledgebase/faq or is all info in forum? Mcafee also have a special uninstaller btw. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507Dont think Winpatrol has anything to do with this - not uless you blocked some Bitdefender releated drivers/services/startup entries? That appremover does not seem to list Bitdefender as a supported application so of no use unless Mcafee is problem.Have you tried safe mode? but probably best you read that thread again, they will know better how-to get rid of it manually.

I have a Deskjet [HP] 5440 so-called photo printer that has worked pretty much flawlessly for 16 months or so. A few days ago it began giving me unintelligible 'error flashes' on the big green LED power button. I have tried to time the flashes into some sort of code, but it seems to me its got at least three, maybe four patterns its rolling through and I can't be sure yet of the sequence & interval.

Some symptoms are:
- it printed ok even after the series of flashes began about four days ago, until
- it finally stopped printing, simply giving a "job failed to print" error on the screen, late in the week. Since that time, I can't seem to communicate with it other than to cancel jobs and remove the printer from WinXP Pro
- The other two buttons are apparently non-functional.. nothing happens when pressing them
- The Power Button will not cycle power. Basically, plugging in the power supply brings back the flashing madness, but there are no "off" and "on" functions.
- The HP so-called "diagnostic utility" can see the printer, but doesn't offer any other info.
- No matter how long I leave it unplugged from both power supply and USB, the behaviour is the same.

Anyone have some direction for me?

I was trying to hook my computer directly up to the internet rather than wirelssly. I connected my computer to the router hooked up to the internet through a network cable. My main computer also uses this router to hook up to the internet. I try to enable sharing on microsoft 2000 pro and it tells me i must install at least one protocol for this network to work. I try to install TCP/IP and it tells me "Could not add the requested component. The error is: 0x8004A021. The computer says that I'm connected and says it has sent things to the main computer. Not really sure if it needs to communicate with the other computer considering the router is directly connected to the cable modem. It says Local Area Connection 1 has a 100mbps connection speed but i can't connect.

please help

Is there any chance that my cable router only allows one IP address to connect directly to it and that is the problem?

Hi there
I have a fairly new machine running Windows 8.1. In the last week or so it has given various rundll errors. I have tried to do a system restore but when I get to the System Protection option i get the attached system properties protection error message. In addition to this it has started requesting that I activate windows (it's never asked me to do this before and I assume was activated when I purchased the machine. However, it doesnt allow me to activate and just says

Windows cant activate at this time. Try activating again later. If that doesnt work, contact support.
Admittedly I havent contacted 'support' yet but I cant envisage Microsoft being much assistance.

I deactivated AVG to try running combofix (which I saw on another thread here), but it wouldnt run and gave me the error that ComboFix is not meant to run in Compatibility mode. I haven't attempted to sort that out (but that is why AVG is disabled as you will see below).

I have also just discovered sweetim on the machine which I am about to attempt to remove using SpyHunter.

I have tried many methods to solve this windows update problem but all in vain...The last time I was able to check for updates and install it successfully was more than a year ago, at august 2015(after that i didnt try to update my computer for 6 months or so).Since then, I am not able to search for updates .I have tried resetting windows update components following brink's tutorial and also updated the windows update agent.I have installed the April 2015 stack update KB3020369,convenience rollup KB 3125574.I also ran sfc/scannow . It said that there were some errors and have fixed it.I have also manually downloaded and installed platform update KB 2670838 and also ran the SURT tool and it said that there were 95 errors and 89 of them were fixed. After I start searching for updates, it will continue like that for an hour or so and then return an error code.
These are the error codes I get -8024400A,80072EFE,8024402F,80072EE2.Someone told that these are due to proxy configuration problems but I have never used a PROXY at all. When checking for updates I also disable the firewall and antivirus program, but nervethless useless for me.Nothing seems to work. Can someone help me to sort out this problem.

Hi, i have a set of office computers linked to the main local Domain server. Its been a while now that some computers has been giving logon errors telling me "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship". I could only temporarily fix it by doing a clean install of windows and joining the Domain server again, but it has happened the 3rd time today after a few months of no errors. Im thinking of finnishing this regular error by doing a clean install of the server itself but im afraid of losing data stored and have to set up all my settings all over again. So if theres any permanent fix to this it would be extemely appreciated.

I woke up, and, as has been the case a few times in the last month or so, my computer had some strange spyware stuff. I quickly googled the fix for it, and began to scan with MBAM, however, instead of finishing, and letting me cleanup the problem, it closed, and restarted my computer.

On restart it had disabled taskmanager and registry editing, as well as blocking any programs I was trying to run to fix it (AVG/MBAM). Before fixing that I restarted in safemode and did a scan with AVG. It found several problems and removed them.

On entering standard windows again, the same problems persisted. I managed to restore access to my registry and task manager, but that's it so far.

I've been trying to diagnose and fix my problems for the last 3 hours or so, but everytime i've tried a fix, it hasn't worked.

Running MBAM works up until I hit scan. It looks like it's about to start, then closes, and whenever I try to open it again I get the error:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may no have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Reinstalling MBAM "fixes" that error, but it just repeats if I try to scan again.

-I read that someone had the same problem, and tried renaming the mbam.exe to winlogon.exe, but this didn't fix my problem.
I cannot be entirely sure, but it seems like I have no access to the internet on that computer (I am using my laptop to post this). AVG will still run, sort of, but ... Read more

If you cannot get DDS to work, please try this instead. Please download RSIT by random/random and save it to your Desktop.Note: You will need to run this tool while connected to the Internet so it can download HijackThis if it is not located on your system. If you get a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding Rist attempting to contact the Internet, please allow the connection.Close all applications and windows so that you have nothing open and are at your Desktop.Double-click on RSIT.exe to start the program. If using Windows Vista, be sure to Run As Administrator.Click Continue after reading the disclaimer screen.Leave the drop down box set to default: "List/folders created or modified in the last 1 month (30 days). When the scan is complete, a text file named log.txt will automatically open in Notepad.Save the log file to your desktop and copy/paste the contents into a new topic in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here.Important: Be sure to mention that you tried to follow the Prep Guide but were unable to get DDS to run.If RSIT did not work, then reply back here.

I recently noticed that the system was trying to do 7 updates every day at closedown, and found that update was giving a return code of 800736b3.

I have run SURT several times, and it doesn't seem to give any results (or should I be looking somewhere else?).

I ran sfc /scannow and extracted the results and they are in sfcdetails.txt (attached). SFC said there were some files it couldn't fix, even though sfcdetails.txt says it has fixed all of them.

CBS.zip is much too big to upload using the paperclip - is there another way?

I tried restoring to an earlier restore point, and unfortunately all the attempted updates have flushed my list of restore points - and the oldest few all give me a return code of x00000022.

Not sure if this is one problem or two...! I am reluctant to do a System Recovery as it sounds pretty drastic - help would be much appreciated!

PS Is any more info required?

Q: banners

hi, copied and pasted the link jus like they said but it's not showing up as banner, neone know y?

For some reason i cant se any banners...i think the internet explorer desconfigurate somehow...is there anyway i can configurate it again?

A:Can;t see banners

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

I suspect to have been infected with rogue antispyware, which in it's self is malware.

This is the best M$ idea yet:

Just think of the possibilities?

A:A Ad Banner to end all Ad Banners the M$ way!

part of article
Windows XP systems connected to the Internet will automatically install the new software in the middle of the night when no one is looking. Click to expand...

i have that setting turned off in my computer. (damn auto update. its evil!) lol

but tha'ts really funny. however, i havent seen the bsod in my xp machine. and if i have, its a lighter blue. and has much nice text. i think its tahoma or arial. unlike the other one which was like..who knows what. it was ugly.

but ywah, when my system crashes, it doenst show the bsod, it just restarts, and when its done, i log back in, and THEN it tells me "your compie survived a crash, click here to send the crash info to your friends and microsoft."

i think this is an opportunity for them to use personalised target advertising. simply have the poeple asnwer a few questions about what they like and what they buy, and all advertisemenst via the BSOD, will be personalised for the user to increase sales.

if all goes well, i expect to see video game advertisements in MY blue screen of death.

I am using Inkscape to create banners and then print the banners.

I am trying to print a 40 inch long banner. (I will generally be
printing banners between 24 and 40 inches long.) When I try to print the
banner, only the first page prints. Everything then stops like the
print job was completed. I get great one page banners but....

I am using a PC running XP with an HP Deskjet 5650 printer. I then tried to print a
banner using my second computer which has Win 98se and a different HP printer
with the same results. I conclude that I am not setting Inkscape
correctly for printing the banner of this size. Is this a correct assumption?

I am using Inkscape 0.42.2. The banners look great on the screen but... Please
help me to print the complete banner(s).

Thank you so much in advance.

A:Inkscape Banners

Juyst a guess-but there is a place for a checkmark on the HP PRINT screen.
Look at PRINT/PROPERTIES/BANNER PRINTING (down at lower left corner of that popup page)
