Bootable with preinstalled product key?

Q: Bootable with preinstalled product key?

Ive used pirated bootables with preinstalled product keys in the past but am now on the straight and narrow, wanting to add my product key to my legitimate copy of windows 8. This way I wont have to worry about having it written down, losing it or entering it incorrectly, since it will be automagically entered for me.

Does anyone know how I can add the product key to my bootable image?

Preferred Solution: Bootable with preinstalled product key?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

No need to add product key to a Windows 8 image, as the installer will see the key in the BIOS.

Where is the Windows 8 Product Key?

Factory-installed Windows 8 computers differ from previous versions of Windows. Previously, the Product Key for Windows was attached as a label on the computer so that, in the event that the computer required reinstallation, the key could be referenced for activation.

For Windows 8, the Product Key is "injected" onto the computer motherboard at the factory, and the installation and activation processes refer to the BIOS of the computer to verify authenticity and activate Windows. No Windows Product Key is otherwise provided or needed by the customer.

While i do appreciate getting paid to do simple work I find that I could be doing more productive things while doing this so i don't have to hover over the computer

I have Vista, but no disks, only a recovery partition

Did I read somewhere that a Disk could be burnt with the OS on with slipstreaming or something ?

Thanks

A:Can I make a bootable CD/DVD from preinstalled Vista

You can burn a copy using a program such as Acronis Drive Image, but some PC's also allow you to create a copy of the recovery files from the hidden partition.

The latter depends on PC make and model, which at this stage is unknown?

When I buy my product the Windows 10 Original was preinstalled on my Notebook PC and backup files were given in a locked drive. Recently my hard disk has been crashed and backup files are gone. Can I get my windows product key back?

A:Preinstalled Windows product key

Mahbubur_Rifat Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! Your product key is still on the PC.  On Win8 machines and newer, the product key is embedded into the UEFI firmware of the motherboard.  You can retrieve is using this tool:  http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/2577-showkey.html Howver, what you SHOULD use to restore your PC is HP Recover Media and that will automatically find and reuse the product key. HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Have MS Office preinstalled when I got my hp convertible but how can I get product key for the activation?

A:Have preinstalled ms office but need product key

@Mohammadali1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!First of all, you need to know that HP keeps no records of individual MS Office product keys associated with individual PCs. That means there is no way to obtain this information from HP.Second, ever since Office 2013, MS Office has been distributed in two different forms: (1) installed locally, (2) installed using Click-to-Run (CTR).  The local versions used a product key received with the purchase (or via email, from a download), the CTR versions used a product key received via email from MS, but it was NOT stored on the PC. If you have the Local version, you should be able to retrieve that key using these utilities:  https://www.lifewire.com/free-product-key-finder-programs-2625119 If you have the CTR version, the key is not stored locally, and you can only get it by contacting Microsoft.Good Luck

So I have this Lenovo laptop with a preinstalled Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, and somehow I managed to mess with it to the point that I can't boot to normal or safe mode, and refresh or reset the system. I have tried different methods to fix this (renaming software to software.001, trying to boot to safe mode, etc) yet no success. One of my friends told me that the OS is corrupted, so I want to do a clean reinstallation of Windows 8.1 but given a preinstalled machine, I don't have the CD with me. I haven't downloaded an installation media from microsoft website yet because I realized I don't know the product key. I have searched through my laptop's box and case with no result. With that done said, can I know my windows product key while I cannot even boot? (I'm stuck in windows recovery environment)

I'm looking for a freeware utility that will clone a bootable USB stick with special build of Slax with an inhouse developed program to a bootable CDROM. There's plenty of information on how to go the opposite way, from bootable CDROM to bootable USB, but our company has several bootable sticks that we want to make into bootable CD's.

I'm looking specifically for freeware/sourceforge type programs, NOT shareware or paid software.

I tried copying the file structure from the USB stick (which is formatted Fat32) to a CD and burning it, but that CD won't boot.

I've also tried using a freeware app called USB image tool 1.59 by Alexander Beug (alex's coding playground) to generate a .img file of the bootable flash drive, then used an app called cdrtfe 1.5 portable by O. Valencia (cdrtfe - open source CD/DVD burning program (cdrtools/Mode2CDMaker/VCDImager Frontend/GUI)), using the bootable CD option, and referencing the img file generated by USBimagetool. I was able to burn a disc, but it wouldn't boot.

I've looked through this article here Bart's way to create bootable CD-Roms (for Windows/Dos) but all I'm wanting to do is create a bootable ISO clone of a flash drive that would also make a CD bootable and contain all the files therein.

Is such a process even possible?

A:Software for cloning bootable USB to bootable CDROM?

My guess would be, start with a slax image from a site like this:
Slax: build

Load it into a tool that lets you add files to images. Add the files you need from the USB. Then use the image write command of the tool to create a new .iso. Burn the .iso.

I haven't done custom iso boot images in a bit. Even if I remember the image tool there's probably better ones out there now.

Hi.

I'm trying to do a fresh install of windows 7 onto an Crucial M4 SSD as the previousversion kept hanging atstartup, but the installation seems to hang and is very slow. So I want to restore my SSD back to factory settings and maybe this would help. Is it possible to make the bootable flash drive into a bootable cd rom? cheers guys.

A:Can i make a bootable flash drive into a bootable cd rom?

if you have the files on the usb, you should be able to just copy them to the cd and it should boot. i say should because i have not done this. if you use a windows 7 system to do this, you should get the option to make the cd bootable when you burn it using windows.

Has Microsoft changed something in the latest April Windows Updates?
I create a default Windows 8 Enterprise VL image on my laptop in audit mode as I have always done previously.  Nothing has changed from my side.
When I install the image via WDS, everything installs fine.
When I use my WIM file to install via USB, it now comes up with:
The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.
right after selecting the install language.
I have checked EI.cfg and it is normal:
[EditionID]
Enterprise
[Channel]
Volume
[VL]
1
I then tried adding PID.TXT with my Enterprise KMS key and, rather than error it then prompts me for a product key.
Surely using the VL install media it should never ask for a product key.  It never has before. (And I've never had to before)
I prepped the image as normal using:
C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:C:\Windows\win8unattend.xml
Any ideas?  I can't but help thinking something has changed in the latest batch of Windows Updates.  It's quite frustrating as not all my machines are capable of PXE, so I have to use USB.
The reason I think it is a recent change, is if I do a default install and DO NOT do any Windows Updates, it all works fine.  Only when I install the latest WU does it start doing this.

A:[NEW] The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.

OK, So I've fixed it now, but I will still like to know WHY this has changed.

If i do this to my WIM, it then installs from USB:

imagex /flags "Enterprise" /info c:\temp\WIM\ME\install.wim "Win8Office2013Enterprise-x86" "Win8Office2013Enterprise-x86"

I wonder because I use the WDS capture image if this has somehow changed recently.
Very annoying, but now at least I can install my custom image :)

I read the tutorial on building a Windows EFI USB stick from the Windows ISO. I want to build an EFI/USB from an ISO of a bootable third party application, which is not designed to boot from UEFI. First, I went through the steps in Diskpart. Then, I copied the files from the third party ISO to the USB stick. Screenshot 34 shows the objects listed from the third party ISO. I read all the messages about making sure the partition is botable. However nothing was mentioned about changing a partition that has an existing OS working on it from not bootable to bootable.
I have two HDD with two partitions each. One HDD has Windows 98 on partition 1 and storage on partition 2. The other drive has Windows 2000 Pro on partition 1 and Windows XP Home on partition 2.
When I set up my partitions with Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Tools, the only partition that was made bootable was the one active partition with Windows 98. The other three partitions are primary but non-bootable.
I use the Windows loader to access each OS.
Now I need to format the Windows 98 partition but can't take a chance of wiping out the MBR which is on the first disk and thereby having no way to access Windows XP for regular operations until I get 98 working again.

So does anyone knowif it's possible to change the status of a working partition (Windows XP) from non-bootable to bootable without destroying the partition? Other wise I have to completely clean both drives and start over from scratch installing all the OS.

I picked up this lenovo laptop and shortly after I got it the HDD went out. I replaced the HDD and Installed a full version of Windows XP SP2 then used the Win 7 upgrade disc I bought. I did a clean install of the Win 7 then I activated it at that time without any issues. Some time after that I started getting the message it wasn't a genuine copy. I rearmed the time period but I'm not able to activate the copy again with the PID. I get the message this product is for upgrade and not a clean install. I need to find out if I will be able to register this copy or if I will need to start over from scratch. I did try putting in another PID but it didn't activate with it. I haven't been able to change the PID back due to the message I am getting about the upgrade not clean install.

I appreciate any help I can get with this issue.

So short story, I work at a college tech site that fixes student and faculty computers. A foreign exchange student from Japan with a Sony Vaio (most likely from Japan as well) managed to get a virus on his computer and he was blocked off our network. Our policy is that we wipe and reinstall the OS to ensure that the virus is gone. However, we didn't have any Windows 7 Home Prem media CDs so I downloaded a Win7 Home Prem 32bit iso off of MSDN and burnt it to disk. However, when entering the product key given on the bottom of the laptop(and I've checked 3 times now to make sure it's correct), I get a:

"Product key does not match the current Windows SKU" error.

Why is this happening? Do I need a certain burnt iso (from Sony in Japan?) because of the laptop's foreign origins or is something else causing the problem here?

A:Product Key Does Not Match Current Windows SKU (Foreign product key?)

Yes, you need a Japanese iso, they have regional editions.

I have been reading posts on seven-/eight-/tenforums for years with pleasure and gratitude for all the solutions they provided. But my current issue is one of the strangest things I've encountered in all these years. Have been searching through a lot of posts but haven't found any similar issue (or solution for it) yet. So here it goes.

Symptom: the OEM product key in the registry of a Windows 7 Pro installation (laptop) does not correspond with the OEM product key in the laptop's BIOS.

Here's the situation in short. It concerns a laptop from a student friend of mine who asked me to upgrade her current Windows 7 Pro x64 OS to Windows 10. She couldn't tell me if the installation was the original OEM factory partition or if it (perhaps) could be a pirated version. Since I wasn't about to just upgrade to Windows 10 without checking the authenticity of the Windows 7 OS, I performed the regular checks: see if it was activated already by running the "Activate Windows" program (check), check under Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> System tab if the OS was already activated (check) and run Microsoft's online Validation Tool (check). Everything seems fine, the OS is activated and genuine.

Still, the COA sticker was missing. My friend didn't have any physical recovery media or other stuff with a license sticker on it. So I thought I'd check the product key stored in the BIOS and compare it with the product key in the registry. If they'd correspond, all would... Read more

I have had to put a new hard drive in my laptop after the original one failed.
I then reinstalled Vista using the product recovery CD that came with the laptop (not the recovery cds i made as these did not work!)

Vista is now asking me to supply a product key as the one given is incorrect.
I tried the key from the bottom of the laptop, but this does not work.

What to i do?

The Windows product key on the bottom side of your notebook is an OEM license key. That means this can?t be used with other Windows versions.

To buy Windows key or order a recovery disk if available:

Hello,I decided to update my BIOS and I follow HP instruction on this page. I understand everything but when I get to the point where I am supposed to identify my product I get stuck. Because: When I fill my product number (which is A1GOOES) I am told by the webpage that my notebook is HP Pavilion g6-1a01 however I am really sure that my notebook is ProBook 4530s (it is written ON it and also it written in "System information").Hence, the problem is I cannot decide which update of BIOS I should download. I understand that updating BIOS is a serious issue so I write to you before I do some action. curr. ver of bios: HP 68SRR ver. F.27 (23.5.2012).Thanks everyone who can provide some help!

A:product key: sticker on laptop key is different from actual product key???

The product key is encrypted in the Registry, so maybe one of those commands/utilities has the wrong encryption algorithm.

If you bought new the key on the sticker on the laptop is your personal unique key and the one in the system is the OEM's "volume license" key.

Hi! Ich bought a HP ProBook 6550b a few days back. On the first start of the notebook I got the following message:Product Information not validThe following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalidProduct Configuration ID I already updated to the latest Bios version, but this did not solve the problem. I searched Google and Youtube and found a tool (NbDmiFit ) that HP provides. Unfortunately I think, that the tool does not support my motherboard. I tried the batchfile "NbDmiFit.bat", which should find the correct exe-File for setting the missing value, but that didn't work. After that I tried every single exe-file, but I was not able to set the Product Configuration ID successful. Does anyone know, which exe-file or which tool one needs for setting the Product Configuration ID on a HP ProBook 6550b? I also discovered a further possible solution with WinFlash. Unfortunately I don't know, which command is necessary for setting the Product Configuration ID. Maybe someone can help with that: Usage: WinFlash64.exe [COMMAND]dat      string   Specify the asset tag DMI string.dmc    string   Specify the chassis manufacturer DMI string.dmm  string   Specify the motherboard manufacturer DMI string.dks     string    Specify the SKU number DMI string.dms    string    Specify the system manufacturer DMI string.dos [string;... Hi, Did any one receive that message on there Yoga2?

A:Message on black screen saying: No bootable device, please insert bootable device.

Hi Paultyk,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This message indicates that either the bootable Windows image is not working/ corrupt or the hard drive itself is bad.
Try checking the BIOS (FN + F2 on restart) if the hard drive storage is still being detected so reseating it to its place can help ensure that it is not loose on its connection.

Hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi there,  can someone please kindly let me know if a new machine comes with Win 7 Pro 64bit preinstalled ( includes Win 10 pro bit License ), once I determine to upgrade online to Win 10 Pro  ; can I still back to Win 7 Pro later on  ?  Thanks

A:Win 7 Pro preinstalled

Yes, you're free to do so. What's more - Windows 10 Pro license allows you to install Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8/8.1 Pro if you want. Just one thing though. Windows 7 normally requires license key to activate, so make sure to create a recovery media set from current Windows installation. If you perform an upgrade without fresh installation, you'll have at least a week to perform rollback and retain all your data before upgrade.

A:how to know preinstalled os activation key

Hi: The W8.1 product key should be in the BIOS. I have zipped up and attached a free utility that should give you the OEM product key in the BIOS. Not sure why you need it though, as the key should have automatically been inserted when you installed W8.1.

How do I get the computer back to out of factory state? I want to restore the whole thing brand new with the preinstalled files. How is that possible? The only disk I have in hand is gateway operating system disc. When I tried to reinstall the disk and the preinstall works 8.5 was gone. I have gateway laptop mt 3707. Please help. Thanks in advance.

A:Preinstalled programs?

You need to contact the OEM and get the "Programs" CD or DVD.
Some OEM's have all of this on a "Hidden Partition" on your hard drive.

Who is the OEM?
