Preferred Solution: Peak Protection 2010

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I can get a desktop eventually with Task Manager however any action after that causes the NT AUTHORITY shut down to occur making it impossible to work with this infection. I have better control in safe mode and can run programs without the shut down. Malwarebytes runs and removes objects but normal startup still has Peak Protection 2010. Is it possible that the MSBLAST is working with Peak Protection 2010 to prevent removal for a normal start up of Windows XP? Thanks you for your advice.

A:Peak Protection 2010 - MSBLAST?

Hello,Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue. Since Normal Mode is giving you fits, please use Safe Mode to produce the logs.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.Orange Blossom

Only attach them if requested or if they do not fit into the post.Unfortunately, if I do not hear back from you within 5 days, I will be forced to close your topic. If you still need help after I have closed your topic, send me or a moderator a personal message with the address of the thread or feel free to create a new one.You may want to keep the link to this topic in your favorites. Infected with Spyware Protection 2010 (or whatever crap is behind it). Can't really run any programs except for Internet Explorer. Tried to enable my firewall (Window's Defender) but can't. Tried to run DDS but can't. Tried to create a GMER log, but. Keep getting warnings in the bottom right of the screen saying I'm infected and suggesting I purchase their tool (yea, right).

Try downloading and using the SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner in Safe Mode. Save the randomly named file (i.e. SAS_1710895.COM) to a usb drive or CD and transfer to the infected computer. Then double-click on it to launch and scan. The file is randomly named to help keep malware from blocking the scanner. How to start Windows in Safe Mode

Installation is very quick and easy.

Taking up to 35-40 MB RAM when idle.
Quick scan nearly takes 5 mins.

Firewall is easily configurable.

Interface is very simple. I guess its because its a beta version. Mcafee total protection 2009 has a different GUI altogether.

Will check on the detections and heuristics later.

Overall a very nice product. But can slow down old computers.
Nevertheless, if you've got 4 GB RAM, would you mind giving 40-50 MB towards security?

A:MS Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010

What is the difference between Forefront Endpoint Protection and Microsoft Security Essentials?

A. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free consumer antimalware product for single client computers. Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 provides endpoint protection for business environments, including antimalware and additional protections like behavior monitoring and firewall management. Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 also includes central deployment, configuration, and reporting features needed for ensuring protection is maintained across the enterprise.

XP Home SP3 laptop was infected with PC Antispyware 2010 and Protection System. I found manual removal instructions and removed what I could find from the registry and file system but missed something somewhere. Found braviax running and deleted that and then tried to install anti-spyware software but nothing will run. IE8 loads and crashes. Installed Mozilla but can't get anywhere. Can not get a DHCP address from my router (wireless) but a hardcoded IP works. Can ping external websites but can not open them in a browser. Firewall is not running and will not load. Tried to roll back to before the infection but it says it has been disabled by group policy.

Tried to run DDS but window opens and closes quickly. Watched the processes and DDS.scr loads and find.exe and then DDS stops but find stays running.

Ran RootRepeal and it crashes if I include files in the report option so the report sans files is attached. Thanks in advance!

A:Microsoft Forfront Endpoint Protection 2010

forefront endpoint is a commercial product available to a compnay only
so have you asked your company IT for help

Please do not request assistance for corporate/company owned computers. Many changes/deletions are made during the clean up process, some of which may involve uninstalling programs, deleting folders/files, changing settings and/or removing policies etc. As we have no way of knowing for sure if these are actually needed for company operations, malware issues in these cases should be handled by your own IT Departments in order to avoid any undesirable results.

Windows XP OS,
I was helping a friend who had continuos Mcaffee pop up errors that would not clear. These occurred on start up and his subscription had expired so we went to Mcaffee and downloaded Total Protection 2010. Now after booting up the following appears:
"ActiveShield is either not installed or is installed correctly. Reinstall". We are able to click the "OK" button and it disappears. The Mcaffee Security Center is all green, protection is on but the message continues to come up on restart.
We uninstalled all other Malware detection programs, still no joy. uninstalled all AOL software (they don't use it) Now the message still appears AND on shutdown A Shutdown Message comes up and says "Mcaffee Firewall Plus Alert is shutting down.........."
then the "program is not responding, and we have to click "End Now". Restart and the other message reappears. I downloaded Mcaffee "Virtual Technician" and it made a couple of "registry corrections" but this didn't help and subsequent checks with it didn't reveal any problems.

Hi guys, today we will look at the newest antimalware suite from Panda Security: Panda Global Protection 2010 beta. Its also one of the Windows 7 security providers.

So the installation begins:
After acccepting the license agreement, even before the installer, Panda started a Scan.
Scan finished within a minute.
You will get a Windows Security popup asking if you trust the software.
Also, a restart will be required after installation.
It took around 3-5 mins to install Panda Global Protection 2010 beta 2 and everything went smooth so far.

The update wizard popped up after restarting the system.
Also, an pop up appears to Activate the Product.
After Activation, it provides a 3 months license for the beta.
These are the scanning options. Strange that they did not include a quick scan feature.
During scan, it uses around 35-40 MB RAM. However, they will have to work on the CPU usage. When pulled up task manager, i was surprised to see that there were actually 16 processes running.

PGP 2010 moved all the suspicious files to Quarantine and deleted all infected items. The firewall is also strong.
The detections are impressive.

Under Preferences, it has options to reduce CPU usage and self diagnosis.
It has a lot of settings that makes Panda Global Protection 2010 highly customizable.
It also has Automatic Backup and Optimize Performance option.

Overall a solid protection against viruses and spywares. Really impressive and light weight pro... Read more

I was browsing the web and I may have downloaded something bad. First something with the process name 111122223333.exe or something like that crashed and poped up the "it crashed" window. Then all of a sudden this icon that looks like the windows security center icon pops up saying Windows File Protection and says I have something wrong with either my registry, file system, or something else along those lines. Windows Restore has also been disabled. I have tried enabling it and restarting, but it appears to disable it on start up. Have tried booting into safemode but no luck still. I have tried running Malware-Bytes Anti Malware, but it seems to get stuck on checking itself over and over. PC also seems to respond very slow now.
Any help would be appreciated, thinking about formatting it if no help can be found.

Hey everyone,

I have been having trouble with my network. I recently, (2 days ago), upgraded my cable high speed internet service from 2mbps down and .2 mbps up to 15 mbps down and 2 mbps up. However, even during non peak hours, pretty much all the time, the best download speed I can get is 4-5mbps. My upload speed stays where it should, at 2mbps. It is really only my download speed I am concerned about, because this happens every day all day. When I first upgraded the service, I got 12-13 mbps download speed, so something must have happened between then and now where I cant receive that anymore. My modem is a doscis 2, not 3, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. It is an Arris TM602G/15 model. But as I said, I have received close to the full download speeds before, but not anymore.

Any help? Thanks!

A:Not getting speeds I am paying for... Even during NON-peak

Try contacted the service provider again ? They should have technicians to be able to check it for you. Could also be a line problem, did you add anymore lines to your cable lines inside ?

How are you testing it, where ? Did you change any other settings on PC. Windows does all optimizations for you.

Try resetting the modem, unplug it for 15 seconds, then plug back in. Or unplug and reboot PC. Usually a way to reset the modem back to factory state, need to check your service providers website for your model modem to be able to access it's settings. Usually you type in an address in your browser to access it.

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a new computer, and it's an issue I've had with another Windows 7 desktop that I purchased before. Unfortunately, when I fixed it originally, I don't exactly remember how because it was after hours of frustrating trial and error.
Anyways, the issue is that while all volume levels are set for peak output, the green/grey volume bar is only going up about halfway. I have been told to check all settings, check my speakers and reinstall my audio driver; however, none of them have fixed the problem. I have plugged my speakers directly into my iPod and they work fine, and I've tried different music-playing software, and the same issue persists.

If anybody has any ideas on how to fix this problem, it was be appreciated.

I have a custom built computer. Below are specs

AMD Duron XP 3200+ (Athlon XP 2.2GHz)
ASRock K7s41 Motherboard
512mb Ram
DVD Dual Layer ReWriter
80 GB Hard Drive
Running Windows XP Home SP2
Norton AntiVirus

I later added a CD-RW and a PEAK ATI Radeon 9800SE 128MB Graphic Card.

The card worked fine on the first day. Later on i notice that the monitor would switch of and i would have no control of the computer. This happened to me many times as i was playing DOOM3. A couple of the times it brought up a message saying something like this:

Your graphics accelerator settings have been reset as they were no longer responding to you commands.

I have had no luck on the peak website.

I just want it fixed because it is really annoying.

Does anyone know how to contact PEAK? I've tried googling them to no avail and they're not listed on the ATI site either.

I bought the card 2nd hand and when it boots into windows it has artifacts in the shape of pale vertical lines across the screen. Underclocking doesn't seem to remove this either.

I've got a 350W PSU but I've ordered a 400W incase it's a power problem (but surely underclocking would solve that?) and I've also ordered a fan in case it's a heat problem but the artifacts appear even after a cold boot so I'm wondering if the card has been broken.

If anyone has any advice or knows how to contact PEAK that would be most appreciated.

A:whats special about aero peak!!!

With multiple apps open, just like you've done but, you need to hover the mouse over each thumbnail to enable the ture aero peek. A good example is to have several internet explorer tabs open and hover the mouse over each of them.

I have had the Windows 7 32-bit RTM for just over a day and find the Aero Peak too slow to display the thumbnail images.

My computer is quick, with 2.2 Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 8600m 256MB DDR3, so clearly my laptop isn't the problem. It takes about 1 second to display the thumbnails, I think that's way too slow.

1. How can I make it display thumbnails quicker? Which speed do you recommend?

2. Will changing the speed increase memory usage of Windows processes?

I like playing Team Fortress 2 but I only get decent latency (~50 ms) outside peak hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), at these hours my latency goes up to 400 ms. I'm wondering if is this is a problem inherent to dsl infrastructure or is it that my isp is worse than average. In Mexico City there are only about 3 internet service providers, Prodigy Infinitum from the country's telecomunications giant(and a monopoly) Telmex is the one I use.
Of course most of their clients use the internet for sending emails and web browsing so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care for providing a decent service for gamers.
How does everyone's isp perform for gaming?

A:High latency at peak hours

Most ISP's have you on a system with a lot of other users in your neighborhood. What you report is typical. You provider will provide you high speed and bandwidth at an increased price, and then this problem will go away.
We have performed a lot of work in Mexico City and certainly found a great number of providers... not just three... have you talked to repair services in your part of the city.
I do know that the costs are extremely high for service and support, compared to the USofA

DHT practically chokes the life out-of them, stopping them from absorbing vitamins from your system and binds to hair roots. Recently the idea of purchasing some more RAM crossed my mind considering how cheap it can be now. After doing some searchin on google, i found mixed feelings towards whether or not you should have more than 1GB of RAM. I also started reading about the Windows Page file. I am running the following system: 3.2GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM. I download alot of torrent files but i am not a hardcore gamer. My question is why does it seem like windows is not using my ram to its full potential. The Peak always shows about 667236, and while i am currently downloading a torrent the page file is at 635MB. Should the page file not only be in use when you need to store more memory than u have RAM? What settings/modifications should I make for optimal performance, and should I get more RAM? I was thinking adding another 512.

At one point i disabled the Page File but Photoshop got mad. Is there anything wrong with disabling the PF, and should u when u have a certain amount of RAM?

Any guidance helpful.

A:Solved: Ram+peak+page File

Windows XP always uses the page file for low priority data regardless of how much physical memory is free. If you still have a lot of physical memory free while you are using as much of it as you ever would, you do not need to upgrade your memory. 1GB of memory is usually more than enough for any normal task. And no, it is not a good idea to disable the page file, as you found out.

What are some tools that I need to keep my computer at "peak performance"?
So far, I already have the following:
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
Smart Defrag
Advanced SystemCare

What else should I get?

A:Keeping my computer at peak performance?

Well, for starters, MWBAM is a Anti-malware/Security tool, not a performance tool. CCleaner and Smart Defrag are good choices for performance, I have never heard about Advanced SystemCare - if it includes a "Registry Cleaner", i'd keep away from it. Registry Cleaners usually do more harm than good.

Always keep an eye on startup programs as well (those can affect performance), and be aware of the limitations of your computer's hardware.

Outside of that, I think your doing fine program wise.
How do you feel the computer is running?

Please post your system specs as well.

I'm sure others will chime in.

This PC keeps crashing more times than you see crashes on the freeway. It comes in bursts. With the time between narrowing until it crashes during loading. Not the BSOD type - just flop - like the electrical power stopped.

Sometimes it seems like its overheated as reason (the temps though read normal).
Other more frequent times its just clicking on a folder - crash. Or scaring it by moving or scrolling the mouse too quickly - crash. As if the exertion was to much. Its not windows. I can reformat or grab another HDD & install win7x64 on it and thump - crash. Sometimes the critter will go for a day or three. Then it starts again. When it happened at the height of last summer the Repair shop claimed it was over heating. They were guessing. When I left it there it never crashed.

The sys. info =

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. EP35-DS3P
Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
8.00 GB 8.00 GB
(1) USB Audio Device (2) High Definition Audio Device
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1
Its a damn good PC I don't want to replace it.

A:PC more crashes than peak hour on the freeway.

I know you said you weren't getting traditional BSOD's, but there may be older ones that give clues. Follow these steps:

When I first log on after boot up and immediately open the windows Task Manager I always find a peak commit charge of around 427450 (see attachment) plus or minus 50.

Because my daily applications never use this much memory this peak charge does not increase during the day. But next morning at start up there it is again, very consistent.

Microsoft Bootvis shows only explorer.exe and Sygate Personal firewall running at start up.

HiJackThis shows nothing of concern (see attachment)

dxdiag shows no problems.

How can I determine what is using so much memory at start up?

XP Home SP2, ASUS A8V Deluxe, AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1 GB (dual 512) Kingston, everything latest updates and versions.

A:Large peak commit charge at start up

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to look at this post. Anyway, I'll get right to the chase, just recently I have purchased the Motorola SB5120 modem and the Linksys WRT546 router, the reason being is because my old modem was extremely out-dated and we needed an easier way to connect my two other computers. All has been working fine until this past week or so, and it seems that my modem just likes to go into a standby state, by itself, from 11 a.m. until 8-9 p.m. central. This will occur regularly about every 5 minutes to an hour for the entire day, the "standby" mode will last for only about 10 seconds, usually just long enough to kick me off from whatever I may be doing at the time. The modem says its working fine though, and even the Cox guy said it was running at optimal performance. At first I believed it to be just some minor difficulties with the network I setup for my family, but that wasn't the case. I've tried resetting everything and just starting from scratch but nothing works. We called the Cox Support team, again, and again, I was told to reset everything. If anyone has any solutions, please let me know. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I recently bought a SSD and installed W7 64-bit on it ( 2 weeks ago ). Ever since when my transfer rate reachs more than 1+MB/s internet cuts out on the WHOLE house. Other members of family can download at 4-5 mb/s without problem. I'm using NetLimiter to stay under 1MB/s and prevent that from happening. But I have a 60 mpbs connection and can't even profit from it ... I never had such problems. I would also like to solve this problem without reinstalling Windows because I heard erasing data from SSD's is bad (?) .

I use POWER LAN TOPCOM 85mbps ( internet through electricity ) if it helps. I tried reinstalling drivers of network card, even installed drivers for the TOPCOM. No results !

I'm desperate to fix this ask for any extra information you guys might need.

Be that as it may, it is difficult to keep up this solid routine in our bustling timetable. To improve size of muscle while keeping fat levels to a base, you definitely need to prompt high nitric oxide level. In this way, supplements assume a key part in muscle building.

Greetings All,

Hope this is the correct forum. I just recently purchased an off lease HP NC6230 laptop pre-loaded with XP Pro SP 2. The laptop boots ridiculously fast and all programs operate flawlessly. My question is more out of curiosity than anything else as I don't have any issues...yet. I want to make sure I don't have a possible future issue that will cause me to have to reinstall XP or do something else and thereby lose all the programs I'm about to download/install.

Only because I recently added memory to my other HP laptop and my older Dell Dimension desktop am I now more familiar with Task Manager. So the first thing I did after booting up the NC6230 was check the task manager. I have 2 GB RAM and my concern is that the Peak Commit Charge right after startup is at 1.8 GB. My other HP laptop has 2 GB and, even after using programs all day, maybe hits 1.2GB. Same with the Dell.

It's not causing a problem but I can't figure out what's loading. There's barely anything running in the process list - the program totals don't come close to the peak charge. I did the usual cleanup in MSCONFIG startup but there's nothing there really. I then did a safe mode boot up and the peak was around 400K so there's definitely something loading or causing this "spike" during regular boot.

I've read tons of threads about similar issues but not where the safe mode is so much less. I wouldn't even sweat it but my oth... Read more

Hi I am running Windows XP SP2 and have a adsl broadband with a Belkin wireless modem/router. I have just bought a Peak Wireless Network Camera (model 3531CLPK330W) which has an inbuilt web server which can feed a video stream to the internet without needing an attached pc. You just configure it with the pc after connection to the router and then let it get on with sending out video irrespective of if the pc is on or not. The stream can be viewed on any web browser with Active X or java.

OK, I can connect it fine to my network, the router assigns it an IP number and I can view video fine on any machine within my network of 4 pc's. At present, for example my main pc has network IP number and the netcam My ISP IP number (Dynamically assigned) at this time is

I have asked various people online to check the camera's IP number but (not suprisingly being a number on my network) they cannot see it. As I say, it works just fine within my network.

The netcam is configurable vis web browser controls and has various options regarding TCP numbers etc that I am reluctant to interfere with until I have a better idea what I am doing.

Can anyone advise me how to configure the netcam so it can be accessed from the internet?

Many thanks

Is your Web IP address (sometimes also called WAN IP, external IP, etc), i.e NOT the 192.168.. IP address a static or a dynamic IP address? You'll have signed up for one or the other with your ISP.

I suspect it is the latter; thus from time to time (the frequency depending on your ISP) it will change, hence the name(!), and your external users will have difficulty accessing your webcam.

Your either obtain a static IP from your ISP, these tend to cost a couple of quid more per month, or you can stick with the dynamic IP address, but you can sign up to a Dynamic DNS service. This will allow you to obtain a name for your site/webcam (e.g. fred.domain.com or whgatever) and the DynDNS serivce will keep your name current with your dynamic IP. You will find that www.dyndns.com, or www.no-ip.com (to name but two, there are many others) offer a basic free service that may meet your needs. You'll need to run a little program on either your router or a PC on your LAN that periodically notifies the DynDNS service when the WAN IP changes: some routers have such software as standard, or your can check your DynDNS providers site as they often provide such software for download.

Your friends need never beinformaed of the WAN IP numbers; you just tell them the memorable name you configured up with the DynDNS provider.

The 192.168... are private LAN addresses and are not routable over the Internet.

I believe this is a performance issue. I just moved to Windows 7 from Vista. Occassionally, the Office 2007 applications will not show a preview using Aero Peak. (This happened in Vista but of course without Aero Peek).

The issue seems intermittent and doesn't affect all open Office applications -- just usually Excel or Outlook. Here's a picture of what I mean. (Note: This is an image I found online that I'm pasting here to save me the trouble of a screen shot)

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks so much!
