Solved: Shared OE mailbox

Q: Solved: Shared OE mailbox

I am using Outlook Express 6. I have 2 laptops and am connected to my HP Home Server. I would like to store mail on the server so that when I access mail from either computer I see the same mailbox storage.

Is there some way I can accomplish this?

Preferred Solution: Solved: Shared OE mailbox

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I found a tread in this site and need some help and advice on how to make it work for a shared mailbox that about 10 peolpe will be working out of. It's been a while since the thread had any posts so I thought to create a new post and reference the code. I'm new to vba and I'm at a lost as to how I can get this code to work for my shared mailbox situation at work .

Here is the link to the tread I found with the code:

I was able to use the code and apply it to my 'ThisOutlookSession' and it works great for my personal mails . However, I want to be able to use this code on multiple folders within the shared mailbox. Also, depending on the folder that any of the 10 people working out of the shared mailbox move the email item to he/she will trigger either a "processing" email reply or "completed" email reply to the sender. And lastly, do I have to set this code up for each computer or can I just setup this code on my outlook?

I have a user who through Outlook 2000 is opening 3 mailboxes (Exchange Mode)

She wants to be able to set an out of office message on two of the mailboxes (not her personal one)

Can this be done within the outlook client or only through OWA?

I personally would choose OWA - why create more confusion with the client? And if the client doesn't work - you'll still have to do it on OWA anyways...

I am not very experienced with this, so apologies for any naivety.
The company where I am working using a postfix mail server to deliver mail.  Internally, a small group of staff (about 4 people) wish to use a shared mailbox focused on an area of interest.   A mail account has been set up for this purpose and on request, a simpler and more memorable name for this account has been added, as an alias for the account.
So on the mail server the alias table looks something like:
Alias       Actual mail account name
comm:  [email protected]
So I think there are 2 different approaches for this shared mailbox:
1) I could add this [email protected] account to their Outlook or apple mail client programs, or:
2) I could change the alias table so that it points to their true email addresses e.g.
Alias       Actual mail account name
comm:  [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
The latter approach sounds better to me, but any advice and insights would be appreciated as this is rather new.
Many thanks!

A:set up of company shared mailbox: best approach

I would ask the end users what they expect out of the shared mailbox in terms of functionality. For example, if the mailbox is meant for outside people to contact the group, then they may want to be able to reply to messages, but have those replies be part of the shared mailbox for tracking purposes (i.e. have the replies show up as part of the original email thread that all can see). Or they may just want it as an easy way to send messages to each other in the group with out having to type in four email addresses. If it is the former, then they may just want it as an actual separate email account/mailbox that they all have access to from their email client...this seems to be your first option. If it is the latter, then something that is just acting as forwarding alias, which sounds like your second option.

Good Morning Folks,

I am experiencing a bizarre issue with one of our users, items are getting stuck in the outbox of a secondary mailbox which is shared, this issue only happens for this particular mailbox I believe & only for this user.

I have re-installed office 2010, deleted any left over configuration files, deleted any left over ost files & nothing, the only thing I am yet to do is re-image the machine, but I am hoping It does not come to that.

It is a windows 7 professional 64-bit machine.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have a customer who has received a new pc. The old pc has left the company so I cannot look at that configuration.

This user has her own mailbox configured in Outlook 2007 and she also has a shared mailbox open: sales. All mailboxes are hosted on an Exchange Server 2003 cluster.

She claims that whenever she turned on her Out Of Office Assistant that all mails sent to [email protected] were forwarded to [email protected]

I have look trough all possible rules and settings but I have to admit I can't find any setting that would acomplish this.

Does anyone have an idea?

Hey all.

So a group on our team uses a shared mailbox. Often times this mailbox needs to have the auto reply function changed. We are aware that the auto reply can be changed by logging onto that shared mailbox, however it is very inconvinient as we don't want the users to have access to anything other than the ability to edit the Auto Reply, so therefore want to keep the password restricted.

Any suggestions for this?

A:Outlook 2003 - Auto Reply Shared Mailbox

There really is no way to do it other than via the Outlook client. If you are on an Exchange server it can be done with third party tools.

Hello everyibe,
We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.
An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?
What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?
Thank you

I have a customer who has 3 Office 365 mailboxes, and they would like to have each of the three people have both "full" calendar access for the other two people (PublishingEditor access), as well as "Send As" permissions to send mail as the other people.

I have given each user "Send As" permissions, however I cannot get the Calendar permissions to work.

I'm using Powershell command: Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity "User1:\Calendar" -AccessRights PublishingEditor -User User2

I get an error message stating: An existing permission entry was found for user: (User2).

Any ideas how to fix this?

Twice in the past couple of weeks I have had e-mails from Verizon telling me that my mailbox is almost full. I use Mozilla Thunderbird. I empty the trash frequently, I have 18 folders on the left side of the screen, including Inbox, Sent and Trash. The others are personal folders for different people or companies with which I deal regularly. If I add up all of the e-mails in these folders and on the screen, in my Inbox, I have about 60. I also have extensive address lists, one for Collected and one for Personal totaling about 100 names.

The responder tech. requested access to my service so he could see screen and discover problem. I said OK. After sharing screen access he told me that if I switched to Outlook Express I would not have the problem because OE allows much more room. I asked him if I went to OE would I lose all my Thunderbird materials. He said no. I'm not so sure.I really like being on Thunderbird .

In addition he said that he could clear it all up for good if I purchased a service costing about $149 a year. I told him that was too much. Wasn't there an alternative? He checked with somebody and told me that he could do it for $99.

I told him it was still too much. And I still don't understand why Verizon was sending me these e-mails when I have had their service for years and never received limits before. He couldn't answer that question.

Can you help me understand and suggest the best solution?

OK.... having just finished my Exchange Administration course, the answer is easy (or should be).

Just go into the Exchange Administration console and open up your server entry. Navigate to the Recipients Folder, and delete the mailbox there.

You need to be logged into the Exchange box with an account that is in the Exchange Administrators Global group. The account you deleted the User's Account with, also should be in this group, to be able to delete the Mailbox.

We had a hard drive crash and bought a new computer to replace it..

New PC is running Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010
750 Gb HD
4 GB memory

The problem is Outlook does not send and receive mail unless you close Outlook then open it..

Outlook is only using 1 email account and it is setup for exchange..

I had trouble getting Outlook to connect to the Exchange Mailbox..

Finally after many tries and verifying everything was setup, like the other PC that works, I got it to connect to the mailbox..

Now when you first open Outlook it asks for the login and downloads the new mail, but never downloads mail again until you exit Outlook..

It does not get mail even if you hit the send and receive button..

The only way is to close Outlook and reopen..

We checked with our email administrator and he said it's nothing on their end..

Any help would be appreciated..

This is a really weird one.
OS is XP SP3 fully up to date.
Primary master 80Gb, 3 partitions - XP, Vista, Data.
Primary slave DVD
Secondary master - removable bay 40Gb 1 partition Fat32 Empty
Sata 1 80Gb 1 partition Fat32 Empty
Promise Ultra PCI Primary removable bay 40Gb NTFS XP from a Laptop

Shared a folder on the Data partition and can see the top level of it from this and other machines on the network, but won't expand.
Tried the whole drive with same result.

So, I tried sharing the Secondary master with the same result.

So I tried sharing the Promise attached one and it worked perfectly, as did the SATA drive.

So I swapped the secondary master and the Promise disks and tried again.

Still the 2ndMaster (was the one on the Promise) seen but will not expand and the Promise attached (was 2nd Master) worked - but obviously they are now different disk contents.

It looks as though the disks attached to the IDE controllers on the Motherboard are blocked in some way.

Removing Firewall and AV software makes no difference.

I'm puzzled.

I have three computers all Win 7 Home Premium and sharing (Homegroup). Side not I also had them sharing with out Homegroup and still same issue. Also This occurs regardless if PC3 is connected via wire or wireless. Additional notes AV was also disable to rule out. That is the only thing running on PC3 and nothing is running background wise on PC1 or PC2.

PC1 can easily view contents of Shared PC2 instantly.

PC2 can easily view contents of Shared PC1 instantly.

PC3 can easily view contents of Shared PC1 & PC2 instantly.

PC1 & PC2 can not view contents of Shared PC3 instantly; it takes approximately 35 seconds to view contents of main shared folder and same for each additional sub-folder. Also if copying a file initially it takes awhile before it starts and then stars off slow around 585KB/s copying over from PC1 or PC2 to PC3 before it jumps up to around 10MB/s+. However if I copy the same file from PC3 to PC1 or PC2 no speed issues what so ever. Speeds actually get well up into 70MB/s.

Any thoughts?

Hello everyone,

I'm using a laptop (with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed) as a DVR and media streamer to all other devices in the house.
My TV recordings are recorded into a temporary folder and when the recording is finished the program moves the files into the My Videos folder.

The My Videos folder is shared so we can watch the recordings from the Xbox downstairs or other Windows 7 devices in the house.
This worked pretty well in the past but for some reason new recordings (or downloads) aren't shared by default anymore. All files have a small lock icon (shared with nobody) and I have to manually share new files within an already shared folder.

This is pretty annoying and takes away the convenience.

I would appreciate any tip to fix this problem to have all files in the shared folder(s) shared by default.

Thanks in advance!

Can you be more specific. What are the exact versions of Windows on each of the machines?
Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

PING each remote computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. Open a command prompt as described above and type.

PING <ip address>
PING <computer name>

<ip address> - is the x.x.x.x IP address
<computer name> - is the computer name

A failure to PING is almost always a firewall configuration issue. Any failure to PING needs to be corrected before you go any farther.

Note: You can obtain the IP address and computer name of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG /ALL. This should work for any Windows version. The IPCONFIG /ALL display will provide a wealth of useful information for debugging your network connection.

We are a small company.  We are running six windows 8 computers.  Our secretary works from home, the rest of us are in the same office.

The Admin Computer stores all of our work files within a folder called 'casework' (about 400GB).   The 'casework' folder is shared on the office network.  This 'casework' folder is also synced by Google Drive.

When our secretary works on her home computer and makes a new file, e.g. letterV2, the new file downloads to our 'casework' folder to the Admin Computer here at the office.  However, the new file cannot been seen on our other computers over the office

The newly created files are not shared to 'everyone' unless I un-share 'casework' from the network and then share 'casework' again.

The problem seems to be that the new files added by Google Drive are not inheriting the permissions of the 'casework' folder.

There are no options to change in Google Drive.  Is this a Windows8 problem? Will Windows10 have a fix for this? Are there any work arounds? Does our secretary need to work at the office?

Yours Hopefully

A:New files downloaded from cloud storage into shared folders don't inherit shared permissions for "Everyone"

may I know how that work case folder sync with google drive?

I suggest you contact Google drive first, we have limitation information regarding this product.

You can proof that there is no issue for sharing folder within your office network
I think that's not how online share drive work, unless your secretary can join your office network trough internet
this is the example, you can ask your secretary to send file trough share drive and assign 1 admin to sync and send it to your case work folder

First: THANK YOU to anyone who can help with this.

System: Dell Latitude e6500, Core 2 Duo 8400, 4 Gb Ram, E-dock, 2 Dell 19" LCD, Fedex Dropped it off Friday.

Software: XP SP3, Office 2003, Adobe Acrobat, HP OfficeJet l7780 Drivers [[Had Eset Smart Security installed, but uninstalled it while trying to figure out this problem ]]

Have a Dell Precision M65 also connected to Linksys WRG54 Router.

So, here's the situation.

I want to share desktop and my documents of the e6500 so that they're available to other users connected through the Linksys Network.

To do this I navigate to
C-docs and settings-e6500-desktop
C-docs and settings-e6500-My Documents
and right click and set up sharing.

Once I've done this I get on the M65 and Map Network Drive and browse to e6500 and map X for my documents and Y for desktop and everything is good. The sky is blue, the birds are singing, etc. etc. etc.

Then I restart the e6500 and it ""forgets"" that the folders were shared.

So far I've tried spitting, cursing, shouting, crying, begging, and the following:

I've uninstalled Eset to see if it was blocking for security, but nothing changed.

I turned off windows firewall, but it automatically turns back on when i reboot.

I rebooted into safe mode and set the sharing properties, which held the first time booting back into windows, but not after the 2nd restart.

I opened msconfig and did a diagnostic boot, but couldn... Read more

Hey everyone.

I use both Linux (Ubuntu 10.04, 2.6.33-AMD64) and Windows 7 professional, and sometimes I get a little boggled at the apparent lack of functionality in W7 in the following situation.

I have a network share in the root of my drive that I've called "DropBox" where my boss and I can both put files to be shared via the network. I have a bunch of files in "Downloads" directory that I'd like to be able to share at various times, but would rather not have my downloads directory directly shared as it violates my sense of order. IE, I would much rather have one shared folder from which you can reach all the other content I need to share on the drive, and if I need to un-share something, simply delete the shortcut, and Voila! instant anti-sharing.

Figure 1. Clean Sharing

In Ubuntu, you can create a symlink within a shared folder that points to a non shared folder which allows network users to access that non-shared folder.

Does this functionality exist in W7?

A:Shared Shortcut to non-shared folder.

Okay, so I solved this issue on my own =) TGFG! The answer lies in the MKLink command.

Specifically: mklink /D /J Downloads "C:\Users\Robert\Downloads\"

Works like a charm. All networked machines have access to my non-shared directory through the shared folder, and it looks nice and clean on the viewers end.

Thanks for letting me rubber duck this one.

Q: mailbox

could someone help me clean up some mailboxes?

I would like to close one or delete it rather, and change the address to a new one.

I have a home network of (right now) two pcs. Both are connected to a Netgear wireless router, which goes to the cable modem. On the office pc, I have a Marvel Yukon Gigabit Ethernet port (built in), which allows the bedroom pc to view and access the office pcís files very quickly. However, this doesnít seem to work both ways. The bedroom pc is older, with a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. (Though I donít know if ďfastĒ would be my adjective of choice), so while the office pc can access the bedroom pcís shared files, itís excruciatingly slow.

So my question is this: is the speed of the network dictated by the NIC, or is it something internal (and, perhaps, therefore harder to make faster)? In other words, could I buy a better NIC for the bedroom pc and have its shared folders be accessed as quickly as the office pcís files?

Thanks in advance for any help. You guys have been great with everything else thus far.

A:Solved: Shared folder speed

The speed of the network is dictated by every component on the network... You have not given me enough information for me to know what the slowest speed would be....

I.E. here is a scenario

Office PC - Gigabit > cable - Cat 5 > Router 10/100 with wireless 11b > Old PC - Wireless 11b

the slow factor in this equation is the wireless 11b that has a max speed of 11 vrs everything else at gigabit and 100 speeds

Now lets switch it around...

Lets say you have
Office PC - Gigabit > cable - Cat 5 > Router Gigabit > cable cat 5E > Old PC - Gigabit

the "slowness" would be (potentialy)with the cat 5 cable on the office PC side.

lets say you have

Office PC - Gigabit > cable - Cat 5E > Router 10/100 > cable -Cat 5E > Old PC - Gigabit

the "slowness" would be in the Router that is only going at a max of 100

Lastly remember that while this is true with hardware things running in the background of any component can also cause a bottleneck. I.E. a router with high utilization, too many people accessing the same information on a single share, a misconfigured network component putting out overhead and so fourth down the line.

I have three computers in a small office. One computer is directly connected to an HP OfficeJet G series all-in-one. The printer is set up as a shared printer. I logged on to each of the other computers as administrator and installed the printer, printed a test page and it worked. However, as I understand it, shared printers have to be installed by each individual log-on to the same machine. So I logged onto each computer under the name of the user log-on (we are a small library and this is our literacy office) and installed the printer. I had no problems installing the printer; I clicked on the option to browse for a printer and after a long wait (typical) the options finally came up and I was able to see and choose the printer I wanted in the list. However, when I try to print a test page, it just comes up in the printer window with a status of "deleting-printing" and nothing prints. I know the computers and the printer can see each other over the network, because if I go to the printer window on the computer that is physically connected, I can see the "deleted-printing" status. And I can print if I am logged on as administrator, so I surmise there must be a permissions problem. However, I am not finding it. I went to the printer properties and all I can check under sharing is share or do not share. Shared is chosen. I went into the securities tab and gave the specific log-ons permissions and finally I went back and gave "creator-owner" full pe... Read more

My computer has been sluggish lately, and it's leaving me to believe that users on another account have installed some spyware/malware. I logged on this afternoon after work and Mozilla had a new toolbar named "Need 2 Find". I haven't thought of running an HJT log on my computer until I noticed something that stood out. Please tell me if anything is wrong with this log. Thanks.
