Enhanced Storage Certificate Management Tool

Q: Enhanced Storage Certificate Management Tool

according to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/devtest/enhanced-storage-certificate-management-tool, I should be able to obtain the EhStorCertMgr*.* files by installing Windows Driver Kit. I've installed several versions of Windows
starting with 1703 and their compatible WDK, up to the current 1903 and cannot find the EhStorCertMgrCmd files. I also downloaded the ready-to-go appliance and the files weren't there either.
Does Microsoft have a solution for issuing Certificates for select USB storage devices? Where can I find these EhStorCertMgr files?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Open up Device manager and look for the Yellow Exclamation marks. You may have to expand all the items to see the yellow mark. Once you find the yellow mark right click on it and select uninstall. Do a shutdown and reboot and the message should be gone.

Any time I try to open the certificates mmc and connect to a Windows XP machine and try to delete a certificate, I get a pop-up error message that says:
The certificate could not be deleted from \\<COMPUTER>\Personal.  The procedure number is out of range.
The weird thing is, if I connect to the same machine from a Windows XP or Windows 2003 box, I can delete certificates.  Whats the problem here?
Thanks in advance.

A:Remote Certificate Management

Hi Novak,Turning off the firewall did not cause items to show in the Personal store.Tim, I went to add a certificate to another store, in which I can see entries, and it never showed up in the MMC session, leading me to think that perhaps it is not looking in the proper place at all (e.g., using the the wrong user or something).  Notably I'm not seeing any username/password prompt.  I do have the same username and password defined for both systems, but what if I didn't?I'm hesitant, without understanding just what I'm looking at, to delete any certificates that are already there.-Noel

I can't figure out if this is because the Root Certificates were updated in April 2014 then apparently expired by Microsoft or if the PowerShell installer signed this file with a bad software release signature??
We were deploying PowerShell 4.0 (Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu) with ConfigMgr 2012 with a dependency of .NET Framework 4.5.1.  Everything was working fine until sometime around April 24 (exact date unknown).  Now any
Win 7 SP1 machines I try to update will not install WMF 4.0.  They installed .NET 4.5.1 without any trouble..

The digital signature on it it states it was signed Sept 27 2013 and the certificate expires 4/24/2014.
Even if we change the system clock to April 1 2014 it still will not install.. but this shouldn't matter anyway.  They just can't sign new software with that certificate.. surely I can install it..

As for a log... If I run as C:\Windows\ccmcache\3>wusa.exe Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu /log:c:\windows\ccmcache\3\broken.txt

I am trying to resolve an issue where multiple client computers in the organisation are using an internally deployed Root CA certificate (before my time and no longer required) to sign the end entity certificate for external websites, google.co.uk
for example. All SSL sites appeared to be affected by this.

However this is not the case as sub domains of sites with issues show the correct cert chain, the below is for mail.google.com

Removing or untrusting this root ca cert breaks access to these sites.

I have reset root certs in various ways, removed machines from the domain, applied no GPOs, manually updated CRL and pulled down updated certs with rootsupd.exe.
It always attempts to use this rouge CA cert to sign the websites cert.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I am trying to install CA root certificate on Windows 7, IE 9.
Encounter error: "Untrusted Certificate".  "This certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority."
I have tried to install the certificate to Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->local computer and import was successful. BUT on IE->Internet Options->Certificate->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, I am unable to find this root CA on
the list.
On mmc->Certificates->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->certificates, I am able to view this root CA.
I then restarted the IE and view the ssl site again but failed too, "Untrusted Certificate".
Anyone, any idea ?

Previously, I had installed Windows 7 on a new SSD and also installed a new 1TB hard drive for file storage, photos, and programs. The SSD crashed and I had to get another one. I just installed Windows on it and then added my hard drive, which still has files on it when I ran the first SSD.

The hard drive shows in BIOS but not in My Computer. I went to Disk Management and it was listed as Foreign. I read that I should choose the option, Import Foreign Disk, which I did. I kept the same drive letter it had the first time around, and which showed this time, W. It is now listed as Disk 1, Dynamic Online, & Healthy. Now what do I need to do to continue to use it as I did previously, while keeping my data? I don't want to lose my files and photos, but I can always download the software again if I lose the programs.

The main focus of my search is for a utility that will allow the setting and saving of process priority via simple right-click through task manager. I had my eye on PRIO as it looked to do just that while also offering the bonus of a convenient UAC auto-elevation option. Unfortunately it looks not to have been supported since 2012. I aborted installation when it began looking like some of the options may be Vista only.

Forum search resulted in only a few related threads, most of which were quite dated. I'm hoping there may currently be additional options.

A:Process Management Tool Suggestions?

Some years ago I tried PRIO on Windows 7 and it seemed to work well. If it was supported up until 2012 it is highly probable that it fully supported Windows 7, which after all was released in 2009. The reference to Vista may have been to Vista and later. The documentation may not have been updated.

I am not currently using it as I have no need for it.

There are some stand alone utilities that can set process priority but I know of none that work through Task Manager.

I am pretty new to all this and am looking to fix my daughters PC.

I have a few issues regarding the installation of some of the key drivers after installing Win XP Pro - SP3. I installed this as opposed to the Vista OS that the PC came with.

My issue is that I have read about a driver management tool for analysing and there are hundreds on the web. Just wondering if anyone has used this tool and what one you would recommend for use. Freeware would obviously be good however I will pay for something if it is worth it.

Really grateful if you could help out.

My HP desktop is new, windows 8.1, hard drive having ample space. I searched the web and tried, but to no avail. Any idea? Or where can I download a free windows disk management tool to fix the issue? Thank you.

A:Disk management tool not working

Hi invincible,

Since it is a brand new rig and I'm assuming you have done nothing of significance to drastically alter the OS, I would first contact the HP support group for assistance because there may be more corruption yet to be found. However, if you would like to try and fix it before doing so, you can try these 2 commands from an elevated command prompt:

sfc /scannow (this will take a while)

If errors are report run this next command:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If DISM reports success, try opening Disk Management again.
Good luck,

Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking for a tool to manage multiple Exchange calendars in Outlook. I have several Exchange calendars from different organizations (i.e. different domains), all of which we share with “Availability” privacy level. My problem is that when I add an appointment in my “Company A” calendar, no one in “Company B” will see that I became unavailable then. Here’s what I imagine:
If I get a new appointment invitation or create a new appointment myself, I’d like to be able to choose which calendar(s) this appointment is added to. The tool should provide some sort of meta-calendar that holds all my appointments in one central calendar. When I change an appointment, it should be changed in all the Exchange calendars I added it to.
Does anyone know something in that area? Do you even think this is possible?

I'm trying to create a new simple volume in 130 GB free disk space. There's no obvious reason why it would refuse to do so - I'm not at the hard limit on number of partitions or anything - but disk management MSC is consistently returning "Not enough space" errors.

The only thing I can think of is something to do with the partition order, but if so I have no idea how to fix it non-destructively. I'm in the middle of backups on it, so deleting partitions is a no-go. At the moment I don't understand what's going on.

I have an Ideadpad Y500 (Model 20193) running Windows 8.1. It has the original/factory 15gb mSATA SSD and ~1tb conventional SATA HDD. The two drives (SSD and HDD) are managed by Intel Rapid Storage, a sort of software RAID management utility. Although Windows Disk Management (via Control Panel \ Administrative Tools) sees the two drives as separate devices (see below), they are in a RAID, so to normal Windows, they just look like a single HDD. I want to remove the SSD from the RAID. It is throwing frequent errors. My Windows Event Viewer (via Control Panel \ Administrative Tools) is full of hundreds thousands of warnings about problems with the SSD. It is nearing end of life. A few times a day the computer will reboot -- but only when running Windows. When I am running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Linux) it will run for a year without rebooting. I suspect that the Ubuntu installation is bypassing the Intel Rapid Storage software RAID and just directly using the ~1tb SATA HDD (ignoring the 15gb SSD).  I can access the Intel Rapid Storage management program in Windows, but it doesn't give me the option to break apart the RAID; to remove the SSD from the RAID. Supposedly there's a way to access it during POST by pressing ctrl-I, but that doesn't work for me. I can't figure out how to access the Intel Rapid Storage management via BIOS and that's the only place where I could (in theory) break apart the RAID and remove the SSD from the equation.  I realize, of course,... Have recently formatted my laptop and re installed Windows on my normal HDD because i have a small SSD since formatting my SSD and deleting and renewing the old partition, in windows explorer and disk management i can no longer see my SSD. I can see my SSD in Bios and in the Intel Rapid storage technology app, but cannot understand why i cannot use my SSD, Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

A:SSD not showing in Disk Management, but showing on Intel Rapid Storage

Could we get some more information?

Does this laptop have 2 hard drive bays? Did it always have 2 hard drives?
What does "deleting and renewing the old partition" mean?

What I suspect is that the SSD has a partition that is still marked ACTIVE. Windows will boot from one Active partition and ignore the other. So if the SSD has just one partition that is marked active then the whole drive would be ignored.

If you deleted the partition in Disk Management or some 3rd party program then that would have taken care of the Active flag on that partition. But if you just deleted the contents of the partition that would have left the flag.

Let us know what you did.

EDIT: I should add: any partition that contained an operating system will have the active flag. This is not something you would have had to do yourself.

First, I have reviewed the other posts with similar questions and noted that I can install the certificate into root certificates and most likely this problem will go away, some specifics:

1) When a client reported this error using a pop.secureserver.net on an outlook 2003 client, I just figured it was godaddy or the REALLY old Outlook client, but nonetheless, I went in to troubleshoot it and was convinced it was godaddy, but when I tried
to start my Outlook 2016 client on my Windows 10 computer on their network, I got the same error.  Two notes are important: 1) I use godaddy as well and 2) I used the same computer at a different client just yesterday without a single error message.
2) They use POP 995 w/ SSL & SMTP 465 w/ SSL to pop.secureserver.net & smtpout.secureserver.net repsectively
3) I called the company that manages their firewall and was told that everything was fine, but was sent a certificate from the firewall that might fix the problem.
4) The firewall company tells me they use a fortinet firewall

I have some questions that I'm hoping one of the experts here can answer for me:

- What in a firewall setup can cause a certificate to fail as listed in the subject?
- Is there a port or configuration change they... Read more

I have some Windows 7 systems which have not run Windows Updates for many years, and cannot due to regulatory reasons.   We rely upon Windows to automatically update the Trusted Root Certificate store whenever we browse to a web site/web service
that uses a certificate the system doesn't recognize.
Sometime recently, the Trusted Root Certificate Store no longer updates automatically.  The Windows Event Log shows an error stating that the certificates cannot be downloaded from:
http : // ctldl.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab
If we browse to this location manually, the cab file contains an invalid Microsoft certificate.

This was also an issue in Sept 2018.  At that time, the certificate had expired, and Microsoft eventually updated the certificate to resolve the issue.   This time, the certificate does not appear to have expired.  Why is the certificate
invalid this time, and can Microsoft fix it again?

I have noticed lately that my computer seems to take an excessively long time to boot up completely - almost 5 minutes. Also when clicking on desktop icons, they seem to also take much longer to load. Windows Explorer (the folder and file management tool, not to be confused with the browser Internet Explorer) is agonizingly slow to rename and open folders and files, sometimes taking close to 2 minutes just to open a 56 KB file. I have done all the usual things like running a virus and spyware scans (I have AdAware, Spybot, Malwarebytes and ATFCleaner, CCleaner as well as my ISP's Computer Associates Antivirus, Firewall and Spyware protection installed), emptying temp files and recycle bin and defraging the hard drive and I've unchecked "Automatically search for Network folders and printers". I also did a chkdsk scan and a system restore to before when the problem started. Nothing seems to help the slow response, especially when working with folders and files through Windows Explorer. I have not downloaded or installed any programs recently (only AdAware, Spybot and CA updates), but I did have a new power supply and a new cable modem installed recently. Even the tech that installed the new power supply said he was concerned at how long it took for my computer to boot up, however he only repairs hardware and could offer no suggestions as to what the problem is. If it's any help in diagnosing my problem, my system is an HP Pavilion 750n with a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 proce... Read more

Really confusing one here. Since this weekend (16/17 July) we have started getting Certificate errors on some sites and applications. This seems to be due to the structure of the URL compared to the "advertised" name IIS is presenting. I'll try
to explain.
I have a site, Website. This is in my domain, domain.com. Therefore the FQDN is website.domain.com. IIS is running and I can access this site through FQDN,NetBIOS or IP address. Good news.
I create a certificate for the server using the FQDN as the subject, I add the Netbios and IP addresses in the Subject Alternate Names and Bind this to port 443 on the server.
I browse to https://website and all is good. I browse to https://website.domain.com I get a certificate error. Checking the certificate, everything is fine, no errors, chain is trusted. open Chrome and do the same, I get that the certificate website.domain.com
is being presented by Website and may not be the site I want.
Using either URL has never been a problem until this weekend, but it seems that IE/Windows/IIS is not liking any URL that is not EXACTLY what IIS is presenting. so my questions are:-
Is anyone else finding this?
Can we issue a certificate that covers all possible DNS resolutions for a site?
How do I control WHAT IIS advertises itself as?
SO far this has affected two major systems on our network and I can see that more will arise, so any help would be appreciated.

Can someone walk me through the steps of having Advanced Threat Analytics (ATA) request a new certificate from Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS)?  I'm not familiar with either product so I will need detailed steps please.  At a high-level
i'm guessing
1. ATA issues a certificate request
2. I send the request to ADCS
3. ADCS issues a cert for that request
4. Install new cert in ATA
I'll need detailed command line statements.  My ATA Center server is named ATASERVER.DOMAIN.ORG, and I but the URL is configured as ATACENTER.DOMAIN.ORG in ATA.  Can the cert handle both the servername and the URL?
Thank you in advance!

In Internet Explorer, when I get a certificate error, if I continue to the web site, I can then view the certificate to see what was wrong.  However, obviously it would be preferable* to see the certificate
before I make the decision to go to the site.  Is this possible?  I'm sure I could use another browser that does this, or maybe use the F12 developer tools, or write a program.   But I'm looking
for a normal-user way to do it.  I think it used to be possible in Internet Explorer, but this might have been 6.x or even earlier.  Or even
way earlier.  Yep.  I'm that old.  I believe this feature is not in Edge either...unless I'm just missing it.  But I'm using ie11 right now.
*understatement level is set to "high".
