Q: Lenovo Ideapad 300-14ISK Hinges Broken

Hey there, Both hinges of my Ideapad 300-14ISK are now broken after 6 months of light use. The right one started to freeze after less than 2 months from the purchase date. It has resulted in breaking the LCD cover as a result as I opened or closed the lid. About a month later, the left hinge did the same. I can't open or close the lid at all now. I am now looking for a replacement for those hinges since I gave up on trying to resolve this with the support team although it is still in the warranty (however I bought it from outside the US. They're claiming that's why they can't help me). The Lenovo website has 2 parts for the hinges for this model but I can't understand the difference between them. First one is "5H50K14044 - HINGE L+R LIMR L300-14IBR" while the second one is "5H50K14032 - HINGE L+R L300-14IBR". I can't figure out the difference between both parts. The only difference in the name is the "LIMR" word in the description of the first one. Does anyone understand what the difference between both parts is? Thanks!

Hello! I am writing to you as a teacher in a highschool in Croatia. In November of 2015 (which a little over 2 years ago) we bought 8 100-15IBY Laptop (ideapad) laptops. Right now we have only 3 which are working as other 5 are broken, that is the hinges of the screen are broken. In no other model and manufacturer have we had the same situation. We took them to the certified repair shop but they told us that we have no basis for the free-of charge repair although we have bought extended guarantee. The strangest thing of all is that a year back we took one of the mentioned laptops to the same repair shop with the broken hinges and they said that the broken hinges are usually not covered by the guarantee, but that Lenovo for this model is repairing them anyway as it is the fault in the model itself. My students and I are now working on only a few laptops and would grately appreciate your reply and help in any way. Thank you,SCuric

Because my computer is out of  warrenty for over a year the contact I had with Lenovo has proved to be useless.  I called on Monday 4/25/16 to be told that they could replace the hinges a one time courtesy repair because the hinges they put into this unit were not strong enough to hold the display and they were replacing them with new ones.  I was told I would be called in 3 business days for instructions on shipping.  Upday today 4/28/16 phone call from Lenovo telling me that because they don't make those parts anymore that I would not be eligible for any repairs.  She said the only thing they could do is offer me a 15% on the back end of a purchase from Lenovo for a new computer.  This was totally unacceptable to me and I told the woman I was livid to think a company this large could not make this right...If they knew these hinges were defective every single person should have been compensated for this defect.  Personally I will never buy another Lenovo product as long as I breathe!  Now to spend another $900.00 for a new computer is a HUGE expense.

Good day everyone,I encountered a Blue Screen of Death on my laptop. It happens when I play League of Legends, and it does not occur at browsing or playing other games. I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapd 300 14ISK. I noticed when I got home(in a quiet room) that there is some consistent noise coming from the harddrive. I know its not from the fan because I know the sound that the fan makes. I dont know if it is normal because other laptops dont have the same noise. I need help on this one becuase it is getting frustrating and it makes studying using the laptop hard due to the noise that it makes. Any help on this concern is very much appreciated

But before I could do updates, and at random intervals, the cursor moves to the middle of the screen and the computer freezes. Hello,  I've got a problem with my newly bougt Lenovo Ideapad 500 14ISK. It randomly displays signs of shutting off/overheating. The screen turns black (not off but just like its not receiving signal) an de audio stops working. Only solution is to force shut off the laptop and restart.  I bought the new laptop two monts ago. Of those two months i'vo only had the chance to work on it for a few weeks due to this problem. I've read the forums when the first problems started acting up.  I've installen the new intel drivers, did a bios update, did a full system sofware and hardware check, and obviously found no problems. After giving up and returning it to the store, they said it should be a hardware issue, if the laptop just radomly shutts of (like overheating). It took them three weeks to send my laptop back.  Once i got it back, i read the reppair report, and guess what? they didn't found any hardware issues, so they installed a clean version of windows and did a bios update. After working on it for an hour in the universities library the laptop turned black again.  So if anyone can give me some advice that would be greatly appreciated, since the repair man of Lenovo also don't understand my problem.  Some info;doesnt matter if battery power or net power.Doesnt matter which programs i am using, it will juust randomly shut off. I did the intel upgrades listed on Lenovo's forums and the latest ones, still the same p... Hi,I'm stuck trying to connect 2 external monitors to my Lenovo ideapad 320-14ISK (S/N: PF0TTV33). I've got 1 monitor connected through hdmi, that 1 is working. But my laptop isn't detecting the second one which I have connected with a Satechi adapter to my usb-c poort.I've read that it isn't possible to connect a monitor on this Lenovo laptop through an usb-c poort and even that it isn't possible to connect 2 monitors to this laptop at all!Can someone help me or tell me if this is true?Thanks for your help in advance

When I first had this problem it would only freeze once a day. Now it happens everytime I try to play a game. I have seen some other posts on this forum to try to fix my problem but I still haven't found a fix. I have reinstalled windows, moved some games to my ssd, updated BIOS, updated graphics card drivers / downgrade drivers, etc and the problem continues to happpen. This it what actually happens: Im like 1 min into the game and then all of a sudden the whole laptop freezes and the audio from the game keeps on repeating. The laptop doesn't let me alt + tab, alt + F4, the mouse and keyboard doesn't work at all, I'm forced to do a force shut down. This problem only happens when I'm using the AMD grahics. If I play a game on the intel graphics it won't freeze but the game is barley even playable.I really want this problem fixed!  Please help me.

My R9 M375 in my lenovo y700 laptop seems to have a problem, while in game and under load, the GPU keeps going from 820mhz to 1005mhz, this manifests as stutter in games and annoys me quite a lot. Here is a picture of gpu-z while playing a game.And also why does the gpu usage vary that much under the same loadIt is supposed to stay at a 1005 mhz at all tims under a game.

Good day everyone,I just recently bought a new laptop which is a lenovo ideapad 110-14isk. When I booted it up, I noticed that it can't respond quickly so I opened task manager and saw that disk usage is always at 100%. Due to this, even shutting down takes a long time and seldom I force it to shut down because it is very unresponsive. I observed the laptop for a few days and found out that windows update was slowing it. I disabled the Windows Update Service, and when I rebooted it, the disk usage is at normal levels. Hello everyone! I'd like to tell about an issue with a laptop and seek your advice on the problem I have. I will start from the beginning in order to present the whole situation. In 2015, on the 16th of August, I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Y7070 laptop from Russian vendor. I also live in Russia (St. Petesburg), so I tried to get support there. After a little while, a registered at Lenovo Support site and found out that my laptop is covered by warranty that ends on 2017-03-18. I though that was good to know and went on to using a laptop. Everything was good and fine until one day in November, 2016 I opened a lid of a laptop and it went with a loud cracking sound ? the hinges were torn out of the body of a laptop and it seemed like plastic that held the whole thing together was broken. There were no prior issues with a device, so I wrote an e-mail to the vendor I bought it at, described the issue and they replied that that is not of their concern what Lenovo Support site says and that their warranty was only 1 year and it ended on 2016-08-17. Okay, I thought, and went to Lenovo Support site again to find service providers in St. Petersburg. I found one and took a laptop there. Indeed, they said that I have to pay for repairs and they have to change both screen and bottom covers in order to fix the problem. I am experiencing strange mouse pointer behaviour after my laptop has been running for a while and a program is working in the background. The mouse pointer is displayed in a very low resolution, while jumping up to another part of the screen. So usually, the mouse cursor looks like this:  But when the problem occurs, it looks like this (and jumps up to another part of the screen):  As mentioned, the problem only occurs after my laptop has been running for a while (this may take a day, but sometimes only an hour) but when it does, it keeps occuring untill I restart. This has been happening since I bought the system about two months ago. System: Lenovo ideapad 510S14ISKOperating system: Windows 10 I already tried:- updating my drivers (using Lenovo Companion)- reinstalling windows (while keeping my files)- uninstalling Lenovo System Interface Foundation as recommended here- unchecking the box "enhance pointer precision", also as recommended here The problem occurs both with my external mouse plugged in and plugged off. Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Maybe related to this issue, maybe not: I also noticed a strange resolution in a few other places. For example, in the image below you can see that the text in the left box is displayed much sharper than that in the right box.  This occurs also after my laptop has just restarted and is of course much less anoying. Nonetheless, I thought it would be interesting to mention as the two issues might be related.

Hey everyone, My Intel HD graphics 520 driver continuously crashes and basically shuts down my computer. The power button/keys are still on, but I just get a black screen (with some light behind it), as if it is in sleep mode, and I cannot wake up my computer anymore. The only solution then is to just force it off by holding the power button and restart it. I feel it happens at random, but it seems to occur more often when I'm playing a video or something (although that may just be a coincidence). I've had this problem for a long time and have tried several times to reinstall or update the driver. Because I got so fed up with it I just disabled the driver and used the NVIDIA Geforce 920M driver, which works sort of fine with the only big disadvantages that I can't increase or reduce the brightness of my screen anymore and can't run certain programs/games properly. So, therefore, I'm still looking for a solution.  Can anybody help me out?

After 6 -7 month of use your hinges gone. Dell India support say, this does not cover on warranty.here was no drop, spill or accidental damage done to the laptop.
Dell India support  say it is due to usage. Please note laptop is meant to be use and not to keep on showcase. If your hinges broken with in 6 month, do you think next time the same user will ever look for a Dell laptop.
Either improve your quality in India or replaced your poor quality spare. Or else simple go away from India.
Our PM Mr Modi will not tolerate such poor quality service to Indian. I am going to take this matter to highest level. Please inform your India service to replace my hinges asap.

I bought the laptop in April 2016. Started having issues closing the laptop (made grating noise and felt like something inside was crunching) and screen around the hinge sortof came off around March 2017. Was in middle of submitting my PhD thesis so couldn't take it to repair rightaway. A week later, the plastic part outside the hinge broke off and hinge completely came off. Took it to JB HI-Fi on 14th April 2017 and they sent pictures to Lenovo. There are no signs of external damage, laptop has been used and taken care of properly and Lenovo refuses to cover it under warranty. Absolutely unacapptable!! Called Lenovo customer support on 5th May, technician asked for addtional photos of the hinge from all angles to have another assessment. Currently awaiting a call back from that assessment. Looked at other blogs and saw other people having same issues with Lenovo IDeapad 100. Will be reporting the issue to consumer protection affairs as clearly not an issue associated with mishandling or external damage. So frustrating that less than a year and have to deal with this.

Hi all, I've had this laptop two mobnths. On opening it one morning, two pins fell out of the hinge connecting the monitor to the keyboard. A further two fell out from the other side shorty afterwards. The monitor is now separating from the keyboard, almost totally on the left hand side. The pressure of whatever is going on is causing the screen casing to separate from the screen also. The screen can no longer stay upright, nor can it be closed. The hinge is completely broken.  I've made several attempts to contact lonovo to ask for help. the first by telephone. I was told I needed to register with the support department (as well as being registered as a lenovo customer) in order to receive support. The technician said she would send me an email of questions that I would need to answer in order to register before she could help me - that email never arrived. I have submitted multiple requests through the support sections of the website but no confimation that they have gone through - the screen just refreshes as if nothing has happened, and when I check the system has no record of my problem. In addition when I try to use the lenovo website to find approved technicians/ repair shops near me, the uk doesnt show as an option in the drop down menu, and When i try to use the location services they don't work. In December of 2015 I bought my daughter a Lenovo 300-15ISK IdeaPad. In many ways it was a good laptop, but it wasn't durable and I wouldn't buy another one. After 5 months (May 2016) part of the housing around the power connection was broken. Because of this the power cord wouldn't plug in all the way and the IdeaPad wouldn't charge. I took it back to where I had purchased it (MicroCenter) to be repaired. I was told that this type of repair was not covered by the warranty, and the price they quoted me was over $300 (about 3/4 of what I paid for the laptop). I was upset that the repairs weren't covered and that they were so expensive. Other places near me had similar prices for this repair. Luckily I was able to jury-rig a solution so the power connection would stay in place and the IdeaPad could be plugged in and charged. My solution lasted until late 2016 before I needed to adjust it again. That 'solution' lasted until this March before it failed again. This time the power connection became detached from the interior of the laptop. So I opened up the laptop in order to fix it again. This IdeaPad was clearly not designed to be repaired -- opening it up was an adventure which strained my abilities and patience. I was able to reconnect the power connection and reclose the laptop, but the IdeaPad will no longer start. So I am left with a bricked IdeaPad, a poor opinion of the durability of Lenovo products, and a worse opinion of Lenovo warranty terms.

hello, am kind of in a mess, my hp 15-p000nia,energy star has a broken right hinge and the screen thoughworking is barely held on to the lower chassis by the lefthinge. I cannot fold my laptop either.
