Windows 10 update broke audio Yoga 710

Q: Windows 10 update broke audio Yoga 710

Last night Windows 10 update broke my audio. The speaker in the system tray has a red x now, and windows can not resolve the problem. Window attempts to diagnos, install drivers, and request reboot, but it does not resolve to issue.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I was about to post to seek for help but I've fixed it myself, so I'm going to post just to give an heads up, the latest system Intel driver update (, from Windows Update) broke my audio, it couldn't find my audio card anymore. I've tried to download and install the audio drivers (and the chipset drivers) from the Lenovo product support page, it didn't fix anything, finally I could solve the problem with the latest "generic" realtek drivers, here is the link in case somebody has the same problem, make sure to download the 64 bit version http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&Down...

So i'm looking to get some help/advice. I had a recent upgrade to my windows 10 and for some reason the sound coming out of my speakers now sounds like it's coming from the other side of a long hallway. I can fix this by going into device manager and downgrading my current audio driver but windows seems to keep updating it to the new one which sounds terrible. I can downgrade it, restart my computer and be listening to music when suddenly the sound changes. Any suggestions on preventing windows form updating to the newer driver? Or is there a new driver that fixes this? Any help would be appreciated

This is a heads up message as I was able to recover my system by doing a grub2-install booting from a recovery USB. I must say I had used `fwupdmgr update` before to update my Thinkpad's firmware and it worked flawlessly. However, this last update left my boot pointing at the wiped out Windows boot in UEFI, which rendered my boot broken. If anyone from Lenovo is listening, please try to avoid breaking Linux user's systems . It is more disapointing when this happens using a Linux only toolchain (Btw, kudos for the support of lvfs!) This is my `fwupdmgr get-history` output in case it provides some useful info: 20LDCTO1WW System FirmwareDeviceId: d3db6c5633d83a940028fc88d8102d1f1563e3a4Guid: fc5552dc-7882-409b-9b98-699361c74fc4Plugin: uefiFlags: internal|updatable|require-ac|supported|needs-rebootChecksum: SHA1(804154ccc003a77e9b0d88fcb2d52cf12050e434)Version: 0.1.29Created: 2019-06-06UpdateState: success[Release]RemoteId: lvfsVersion: 0.1.34Checksum: SHA1(269cea4389dd420e58b88f182eabeaab23d74e85)Flags: noneBootMgrDesc: legacyCompileVersion(com.redhat.fwupdate): 12DistroVersion: 20190607CompileVersion(org.freedesktop.fwupd): 1.2.8SecureBoot: EnabledCompileVersion(com.redhat.efivar): 37UEFIUXCapsule: EnabledESPMountPoint: /boot/efiCompileVersion(org.freedesktop.gusb): 0.3.0RuntimeVersion(com.dell.libsmbios): 2.4DistroId: opensuse-tumbleweedCpuArchitecture: x86_64BootTime: 1559848020RuntimeVersion(org.freedesktop.appstream-glib): 0.7.14RuntimeVersion(com.redha... CURSE YOU MICROSOFT! few hours ago my xps 8900 is working fine then wife called me for dinner and I decided to turn off my PC. It asked me if I want to install the update and shutdown or restart. I choose shutdown. after eating dinner I went back and booted up the machine and asked me for my password. While I was typing I noticed that I was not connected to my network anymore but I still proceeded logging in. After I press enter it just hanged on the looping circle and I was cursing after that. Can't even do control, alt+ del. I have to turn off the PSU. Did the same thing more than 10 times same result. I was ready to hurt somebody.
Good thing I have a backup laptop that has the exact programs and setup as the xps 8900 and good thing my data files are in a network external drive. So I went looking at the web and saw tons of people having problems after the windows update. The dell recovery drive I made does not even want to work and I know it works before as I already did a full recovery with the USB when I did a SSD upgrade. Now I am forced to use a stock windows 10 recovery disk I have to reinstall the OS......this just stinks......so to all of you out there DO NOT UPDATE WINDOW 10 OR GO BACK TO WINDOWS 7! which I am thinking of doing. Good thing Bill Gates is not my neighbor or else I will <deleted> because of this mess.

I fired up 7 today to be met with no sound. So I tried going into device mangaer. It wouldn't open and gave me a 'failed to create a temporary' something or other. It was a MMC error which goes back to at least Win2K.

I couldn't close several windows, access device mangaer etc, so not being in the mood to try and fix it, I opted for a restore point. I noticed that the most recent restoe point had a Windows Update Installed beside it (I had forgotten to turn off automatic updating )

I selected the next restore point where I knew everything was working and everytings back to normal.

I checked the Updates available and there was one for my Dell Monitor and one for an ATI pre-release driver. I just installed the Dell update and it seems fine. I'm not going to try the ATi driver as i prefer to get drivers from the source and not WU.

Anyone else (especially with ATI cards) have any WU troubles?

None here, You can always uninstall the update if it causes problems...Microsft only released a patch for a serious CIFS flaw for windows 7 thats the only update available minus drivers

Ladies & Gents

Recently I began to update some machines that have not been updated since 2007. They are on winxp pro sp2. At the start I did not know that the win 03 server had the ability to push updates to the clients. So I forced the first one to use the regular windows update site and brought it fully up to date with sp3. All seamed fine.

A few days later it was reported to me that they could not print to one of the printers anymore. So at my next visit I attempted to fix this printer issue. The printer is shared from another client and works just fine. It shows up in the win 03 server, and I can print a test page from it and to it.

When I try to add a printer on the client I get an error message '....unable to add the printer connection, the specified printer has lost its connection to the server.'

This post seem to indicate that the problem may be sp3

Any other thoughts?

Most of what google yields is quite dated. One post even has a big log registry hack to follow. I don't really want to go there.

This is the first time I have ever used win 03 server, so.... I am acquainted with 3.0, 95, 98, me, xp and vista. Now I use Debian Linux on every thing.

Thanks in advance

I figured I wouldn't have any problems by now .. So I updated to IE8.

Now, IE8 will not access the M$ updates .. The link is wrong.
I also have the same problem in another XP install ..
I don't know if this happened when I updated to IE8 .. Or maybe after I installed other updates.

Since I know the correct link ... I can use FF to update,
But, IE 8 will not let even me paste in the correct link.

Anyone know of any quick fixes ???

About a week ago I ran Malwarebytes to try to remove mystartsearch which was added to my browser inadvertently.

After the Malware was quarantined successfully, I realised that all sound on my laptop was not working. The speaker icon on the bottom right hand corner shows a red x sign. Double clicking the speaker icon tries to repair the problem but gives the error: one or more audio services are not running - error not fixed*

*note the error messages are being translated from Spanish to English so wording might differ slightly.

Thinking that the Malwarebytes was the problem I tried to restore the files that have been quarantined. However a number of dll files could not be restored. I noted only these files as they didn't seem to be related to mystartsearch

The .dll files quarantined were:

None of these could be restored via Malwarebytes. So I removed the software all together via control panel.

I tried several system restores but the one restore point prior to this event fails to restore. And run sfc /scannow

How can i restore the sound and are any of these files the culprit.

Any help is gratefully received.

A:malwarebytes broke sound - Windows audio service won't starterror 1079

It is very possible the malware injected itself in to those dll files. Re-run the scan and keep those quarantined.

Maybe you can copy-paste the dll from a working computer. (Not sure if it would work) Don't download from Internet for apparent reasons.

ok, reasonably new vaio laptop, was working fine, but it was asking constantly if it could install some updates. the popup would say it was rebooting in 5 mins, and it would let you cancel it. eventually, my sister wasn't there to click no, and it rebooted and ran some updates, but it hung during the install of these updates. after which it will not boot past "welcome", even in safe mode.

i'd love it if someone can help me, i have a seriously busy schedule, and this laptop has become quite a problem.

i can't help but be furious, i even tried to get help from microsoft, and they say it's not their problem, and they just say to reinstall. they don't seem even the slightest bit sorry that their forced update broke this laptop.

anyhow, it's xp home with sp2, and i can't get all the technical details of the machine, since i can't boot it and look, but it's really pretty new. if there's anything specific i can answer, let me know.

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8625 that worked fine until the windows 10 Anniversary update. It is connected via Ethernet. I can print to the printer fine from iphones, etc. so printer is ok.

Windows keeps thinking the printer has gone offline. When I run the troubleshooter, it says the problem is that the printer is "off". It says to turn on the printer. I do nothing to the printer and just hit "next" and the printer starts working again.

Until later, then it does it again. Have rebooted both computer and printer and still has the same issue.

I have tried:
Disabling ipv6
Installing reliable multicast protocol
Disable and re enable network adapter

Im at my wits end and nothing seems to help. I have been using Windows 10 just fine for a couple of weeks until this update. I still have the ability to downgrade back to Windows 8 for a couple more days but I would rather not as I don't even know that will fix my issue. I also have no previous reset points to roll back to.

Anybody have any ides of where I might start looking?

Have you tried a plain reinstall. Uninstall from Control Panel, then delete any remneants in Program Files if there are any. Then either download an old version like 11 or 10 from a non-Microsoft site OR just re-download 12. May work.. If not I suggest a new media player like iTunes, WinDVD or VLC.

Hi there.

Back on the 9th I installed the Windows 8.1 Update 1 for my laptop (HP Envy m6-1206TX), which - to the best of my understanding - has broken my computer. Neither my computer nor WhoCrashed seems to think there's a problem, so I don't have anything better than a description for this.

After the initial mandatory restart and every restart since then, I am able to log in normally. However, within a few minutes my taskbar and desktop will both freeze and then disappear. Any windows that are open will cycle between which is the active window making them almost but not entirely unusable, and the screen will flash. After a couple of minutes of this, the flashing will increase in speed and the computer will rapidly cycle between desktop mode and the start screen. At this point the computer is completely unusable, and even "control+alt+delete -> Task Manager" is useless due to the way in which the computer quickly jumps between the start screen and desktop.
The only way to deal with the problem is to force-shut down the computer and, upon booting it again, immediately go to the task manager and terminate the Windows Explorer process, which leaves me without a start screen, windows commands, a desktop, or any of charms and other windows features.

Thus-far I've been in an online chat with the Windows 8 service team, only to find that I am ineligible for free support due to my computer being two months out of warranty and having been a Windows 8 native install ra... Read more

I recently updated the Conexant audio driver to the newest version released on about June 1 using System Update. After the update which all went fine I began noticing that if I left my machine for more than about 30 seconds without it making a sound, the next time a sound was to be played it would take about 5 to 10 seconds to come out of something that seemed like a sleep mode. In other words if I pressed play on a sound file or caused any system sound it would miss the first 10 or so seconds. This did not happen before the update. I used the device manager to roll back the driver and the old driver does not exhibit this problem. I would just leave it on that old driver but the sound is terrible since it seems that the Dolby software is not available for me to tweak the sounds after the rollback.I then reinstalled the new driver and the dolby panel is back but so is the delay after a period of inactivity. This would be nuisance enough but since I am blind, I rely on the sound card for my speech system. Any ideas are welcomed. I could not find any settings about power or sleep in the audio driver panels so I am at a loss. Is there a way to get the driver and Dolby software package that was on the machine before the latest update ran?

Hello,Let me start off and say that I own a Lenovo T410, T420, T430, T480 and several other machines, and I am very familiar with these devices, and my primary operating systems are Windows 7 and OpenSUSE linux OS. As required by my employer, I bought a new laptop, Lenovo T480 which came with W10Pro (cannot downgrade) and installed an OpenSUSE KDE. In the beginning the T480 on W10 worked smoothly, but after one of the automatic updates, my sound system isn't working properly anymore. Before the update, I could have a dual channel sound output meaning, on W7 I could use "Realtek Audio Manager" to choose that I will have different volume setting for: 1. Machine speakers.2. Headphones if/when plugged in. This would prevent my laptop for blasting sound to the room through the speakers if I accidentally unplugged the headphone. This is a crucial feature to me as I am often connected to a meeting and I sometimes like to listen to music while working. This feature is gone. I have it working on the linux side, it is definitely driver/OS problem, not hardware. First, Lenovo T480 +W10 never came with realtek audio manager support.Second, I cannot download it seperately, and I somewhat get a buggy "resolution" if I downgrade where the mute button sticks. I am wondering if someone was able to solve this.Thank you for your time.-SJLPHI

Signed up for this specific topic; been searching everywhere with nothing panning out.  Conexant SmartAudio HD, Lenovo ThinkPad OneLink Dock, and Intel(R) Display Audio are my sound drivers/controllers.  Conexant is running computer speakers in HD, I have no speakers connected to Onelink, and my real question Intel(R) Display Audio the dedicated HDMI driver is running through Onelink to my LG OLED TV.   Problem is Intel(R) Display Audio doesnt support HD formats I know with certainty my TV does in fact in sound settings it excludes tens if not hundreds of supported formats and is maxed at 2 channels while TV is 4 naitive upscaled to 7.1.  Up until 3 days ago I new nothing of any of this and first suspected the Onelink which it may still be but I'm convinced its the dedicated HDMI driver Intel(R) Display Audio. Is there any driver or software that I can use for HDMI from the Onelink that is passed through a sound driver/controller similar to Intel High Definition Audio driver which would allow me to have HD sound (this search began because of a stutter in sound for .2-2 sec every 5-20 min on HD playback in Kodi (post buffer and nonexistant on playback)).  Thanks

I had the an issue but with Yoga 530. First of all, the system simply hanging when I try to put it to sleep or shut down. I hunted down the cause and it seems the new audio driver causing it. I rolled back the audio driver to from and the system immediately started to work as desired. I used Lenovo Diagnostics Tool and checked Windows' inbuilt reliability monitor for more details and this helped me to track down what caused the problem. Unfortunately, Vantage software forced to update this driver so I had to switch off this function.

I purchased my yoga 710 11s about 3 weeks ago. Today i was typing up an email and my G key came loose. Normally, keyboard keys just snap back on...well upon further inspection, the clasps that lock the key into the hinge were damaged, so it will not click back in.  Now when i say these clasps were small, i am understating their infanticimal size. I have looked thru almost every key board key replacement website as well as called lenovo customer support. No luck. I didnt give the customer service much effort as they told me to take it back to best buy where i purchased it since it was their problem. After explaining to him that this is a warranty issue, he told me it was not because i must have dropped it...which i have not, there isnt even a scratch on it. at this point i was seeing red. he finally caved and told me it would take 2 weeks to send the laptop out and service it. Mind you i only got this info after deciphering the broken english of the agent on the other line after giving him my name spelling 7 times, and my phone number 3 times, confiming each letter and number over and over each time. if anyone can tell me the key hinge model or a place where i can buy a key, i would be eternally grateful. this is a work laptop and sending it out for 2 weeks to replace a keyboard key is simply not possible. at this point my only other option is returning the laptop and never buying a lenovo product again

Sorry to hear you are having to go through such a hassle, but luckily the fix is usually pretty simple and cheap. You might try this place; they sell the individual keys, hinge and cups for the Yoga for about 7 bucks + shipping..     The do not specifically mention your exact model of Yoga, but I am sure if you contact them them they could point you in the right direction.    You can even take a photo of the your current hinge etc. to make sure you get the right one..   Replacementlaptopkeys.comOrange County, CaliforniaToll Free (800) 616 0976M - F  10 - 5 (PST)Email:   [email protected] Replacement Laptop Keyshttp://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/yoga/ Contact Replacement Laptop Keyshttp://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/contact-us/ How to Orderhttp://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/how-to-order-a-laptop-key/ Good Luck!

I broke the "I" keycap on my laptop when it started popping out. I, being stupid, tried to jam it back in but broke the tabs on the keycap itself. So I bought this laptop 8 months ago. And I had no issues with it except the touch screen not working sometimes which I assumed was a software issues. Last night I noticed that the external glass panel of the screen was cracked. Which is weird because I hadn't used the laptop in 10 days and nobody else could do it either since I live alone and I was out of station. The screen works fine except the touch screen of course but the crack seems to get bigger everytime I use it? Just wondering if anyone else has had the same Issue? Also the customer service just doesn't seem to be of any help what so ever because they keep asking me to visit the service centre which is 2 hours away. And seem to think I am lying when I day the screen broke on its own.

Will it cause some functionality problems or is it just decorative and I can glue them back/let them be?

I would like to get some help hopefully from someone on here. Recently about 2 months ago i had sent my laptop in for a warranty repair (1 year manuf. warrranty) to fix a broken fan and extremely bad light bleed issue with the screen. When I got the laptop back the screen was unchanged although they assured me it was and many of the rubber covers for the screws were also missing, but the fan was fixed. As soon as I had received it back initially the hinges were making a cracking sound but I had thought nothing of it, now they are out of alignment and I am unable to fully close or move the laptop its full range of motion. I was told when I called the warranty center today that i am out of warranty, even when it is lenovo's service technicians who caused this problem. Is there anyone who can help with a resolution to this?

Hi,I am extremely frustrated, I purchased a Lenovo yoga 730. It appeared to be exactly what I needed as far as specs ports and build quality. it worked extremely well for about 3 weeks. I got to work this morning and my laptop was fine. no crack. I placed it in the padded case I purchased for it and set it gently on my car seat. I drove to one of my clients and opened up the computer in a normal fashion.  all of the sudden there is a crack on my screen running from the bottom of the panel in the same spot where the display meets the hinge running all the way up to the top of the display.  I am worried that maybe I closed something inside the display like dirt or dust. nope clean as a whistle. I jump online to do some research to see if this device has a known issue. what happened is the hinge on the right was missing its left pin that holds the body part of the device to the display part of the device. I find that this exact same thing has been reported numerous times. I have heard awesome things about Lenovo's customer support and build quality so I give them a call. the lady on the phone tells me that the issue is not supported under warranty. she tells me I can take it to BestBuy and have them do an evaluation. so I send my wife with my computer to BestBuy. they tell me they have to send it in but first, they will need a case number. no problem, I call Lenovo again the man on the other end of the phone tells me that it's not a known manufactur... Hello everyoneA Lenovo engineer came today onsite to fix my Lenovo X1 Yoga. Not only my laptop was not fixed, but I ended up with a broken screen, in addition to the other issues I had!First of all, the replacement screen was not the correct one! Then the engineer while trying to remove the old screen, broke some of the clips on the chassis. Lastly, he cracked the screen in several places, so the screen does not work at all anymore. Moreover, the other parts (as I had a 2100 error) systemboard and harddrive were not replaced yet!The laptop is only 2 months old! After the service today, I do not trust the engineers anymore. The chassis has some clips broken which means that it should be replaced  also! I paid about GBP 2000 and I do not need another broken screen, broken chassis clips or whatever else will get destroyed by your engineer!Hence, I do not want to accept any onsite repair! Not only I doubt the quality of service but they will need to change so many parts that it is very risky! I believe after the damage today, caused by their technician, Lenovo has to replace my laptop! Can someone post an appropriate email to contact Lenovo in UK?Thanks

My 3.5mm headphone jack on my Asus U31SD laptop used to work, but does no longer, I've installed fresh windows 7 pro (unrelated to headphone issue really, but I did not notice the headphone issue prior to OS-install) and I have tried multiple drivers.

When I install proper realtek drivers, instead of the generic windows audio drivers, I get the notification that "You just plugged a device into the audio jack.", but the plugged-in device is not reachable anywhere -- not in windows audio control, device manager or realtek HD audio manager. However, my headphones are fine because when I plug them into my USB-mic (which in turn is connected to laptop) I do get proper audio.

It seems pretty obvious that the jack is broke. It's just that it's come as a complete surprise, and it aligned so perfectly with the new OS-install that it annoys me, though I'm sure it's coincidental. Also I can't think of anything that has broke it, a random tug of the cable might have been enough I suppose.

I just thought I'd do a last check here to see if anyone can think of anything else that might be wrong, before I replace the jack, or something..

I'm glad I mess up alot when I'm doing windows/linux multiboot setups because with fresh windows 7, yet again.. the issue was suddenly fixed!

Installed latest realtek drivers and didn't really think anything about it. But wandering eyes noticed the headphones and I started thinking.. and hey, it w... Read more

A:3.5mm audio on my U31SD laptop seems broke.

With the notification, that says the extra "sensing" contact is stuck in the wrong position (not sure if its open when you plug in a headphone or if it closes). Try plugging in a headphone or whatever you have with the 1/8" (3.5mm) plug and wiggle it around and then remove it to see if it helps. If not, it looks like the jack will have to be replaced, as generally they are an enclosed jack and not repairable. But if you are lucky you may find an open jack and be able to fix it.

My audio out jack broke and a worker at a pc repair shop said it couldn't be fixed, I have 2 jacks on my laptop Audio out and Microphone what I'm wondering is, is there any way I could switch these around so I could use headphones again without having to buy anything? Speakers are IDT High def audio CODEC. please help

A:Microphone audio out jack broke how can I swap it with mic

Welcome to the forum you dont give model of laptop. If its just a mono microphone it only has 2 wires speakers need 4 wires for stereo on a lot of pcs if its realtek sound you can swap ports from the control panel to another port. Your only other way is to get and use blue tooth phones if you have blue tooth

A:All audio devices suddenly unrecognised after Windows Update/Flash Player update

I finished playing, and installed the latest Windows Updates (nine of them - I can even supply the KB numbers if helpful) and restarted.

Please post the KB numbers nex time. Seems to be a compatible issue in Windows 8.1 OS or the installed updates initially.

Hey there. I had to install a forced update on my 64bit Windows 8.1 HP Pavillion PC. When the update finished, the PC no longer boots up. I can get to the HP logo before everything stops working, and its an endless spinning icon. I tried system restoring and it did not work, tried command prompt stuff and it didn't work either. The update just came out and ive seen many people online with now broken computers due to it. People have figured out that deleting 'FNTCACHE.DAT' in sys32 folder fixes it, but when I try to, it says the file doesnt exist. (CMD).
Refresh PC would probably work except that when I attempt to run it, it says my recovery drive is locked and cannot be used unless I unlock it. HP installs recovery files on a separate drive (D:) and that's how you refresh/reset. I'm not sure if there is a CMD method of bypassing or unlocking the drive so I can refresh my PC, or if I'm just out of luck.  I absolutely DO NOT want to reformat as i will lose countless files of importance that were not backed up, so any potential fix to this would be lovely.  Its worth noting that this mandatory update is brand new, not even a week old and MS has acknowledged the problem.
Any advice or ideas? I'm running out of patience and methods at this point.

See if using the DISM command as outlined here in step 13 posted by Laurens will work for you.

Last Saturday, 19 July, Win Update was installing new updates and prompted me to reboot. I let it reboot and instead of starting back up as usual, it crashed and gave me the following error message:

Stop c000021a [fatal system error} the windows logon process system terminates unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

I get this error whenever I boot up unless I hit f8 during start up and run in Safe Mode. I have been running in Safe Mode w/ Networking for a week now. I have been searching for a possible remedy since it happened.

Things I have tried:
Tried booting to last stable configuration- no difference
Tried restoring to last system checkpoint- no difference
Looked in Add/Remove programs for updates dated 19 July, found none more recent than 9 July
Looked in Registry H_Hey/local machine/software/microsoft/updates for same, found same
Running Chkdsk on C: from My Computer gave me no errors

I routinely have both Windows Defender and AVG anti virus running, so I doubt my issue could be malware related.

I have sent repeated emails to microsoft support regarding this problem, since they offer free assistance for update related issues. So far their help has been worth nothing. A lot of computer generated responses, and one email from an actual person who apparently knew nothing about my problem. His instructions were to have me disable all non-microsoft services and reboot (as if that would fix the problem). He als... Read more

So, recently I was just simply playing a video game with my friend on Skype, and in the middle of it, my audio stopped working. This was pretty spooky to me, since I had never had this happen to me before. So naturally I told my friend to hang up and give me a moment or two, and when I opened up the volume mixed, it showed that I had no audio drivers installed. I simply thought, "Hey can't you rollback changes to like a week ago?" I did some research and all the results were just about rolling back fully, or to Windows 7/8.1 which isn't what I was looking for. If any of you can please tell me how to rollback simple changes, that'd be really helpful, but as for now. I can't entertain myself, I have no audio, and it's really spooky, and no I haven't recently been installing anything.
Hope one of you can help .

A:Audio drivers randomly broke, I don't know how to roll back. HELP ASAP

Hit Windows key+X/Device Manager. R-click Audio driver you want to repair. Follow screens to update via Windows Update. If there's NO driver, download from your mfr's site for your model.

To start off, I'll tell how it all happened. First, almost 3 months ago I bought a PCI Wireless card from newegg, it came in a week later and it was defective. I returned it for a new one and got it another two weeks later (Very slow shipping). It was working, but when I installed what was on the disk it came with, my HD Audio Manager went wacky and said I was plugging in and out audio devices. I just clicked OK on all of them. So I got good speeds but I realized I hadn't any audio coming from my speakers. The realtek HD audio was set to default playback device and both ports on the audio jack were securely in. It simply wouldn't work. A restart didn't fix it either. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the PCI Wireless card a couple of times, restarting time after time just going through troubleshooting processes in hope that one would fix it. So during the process, after the first time of uninstalling I found the card defective again only giving 0.8Mb/s download speed just as the first defective card. Over the whole convoluted process I hadn't fixed my speakers, my mouse drivers broke so I had to put it into a different port, and I have another defective PCI wireless card. So my question is, how would I fix my speakers? The speakers are in my monitor and what it's usually named is Realtek HD Audio or something but now it's named High Definition Audio Device. Are there any fixes I can try? Or is more information needed? Thanks!

A:Rosewill N300 PCI Wireless Card Broke my Realtek HD Audio

High Definition Audio Device indicates that the generic basic function Windows installed audio drivers are installed instead of your RealTek.

Reinstall the RealTek, either from the installation disc that came with the motherboard or from the ASUS site for your specific model motherboard.

As far as the Rosewill PCI card, first you should be using a PCIe card, not a PCI as the PCI bus on most newer motherboards is a "bridge" to the PCIe bus and many PCI cards do not function correctly with the bridged PCI slot. Second, I would get something other than Rosewill, which tends to be a "cheaper" brand.

Another issue I see is two Antivirus programs. Having two programs, like you show (Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast) will conflict and can cause many problems. I, and all my clients, only use the Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes (for malware/spyware).

I've been having audio issues for a couple of weeks now and I can't resolve it. I've checked my device manager and there isn't an audio driver installed. The computer isn't detecting it and I believe this may have happened after it automatically updated. There is no RealTek driver on my computer and I don't know what to do or how to properly re-install this without having to "pay" for the package deal online.  I have already restarted my computer and nothing has changed. I am afraid of putting it on recovery mode or backingit up all the way to windows 7 as It can erase all my work and documents. Has anyone else have had the same issue for this model? or is there any type of advice I may get? Thank you in advance.

So as you probably know, windows 8 users have constantly been receiving popus telling them windows 8.1 is free. You are given the option to install it or not to. The other night, I received a popup saying that my pc would restart to install windows 8.1 despite me never asking me to. I decided to postpone for 4 hours (since that was the longest option) and finished on my pc before it asked again.

When I turned my pc on today, it finished the update. This has broken my pc. I avoided updating to 8.1 because I heard about it being extremely broken, and it turns out I cant do anything.

The first time I boot/log in, the wallpaper and taskbar loads (without quicklaunch icons) and that's it. If I hover over the taskbar with the cursor, it shows the loading circle thing. The only thing I can do is hit Ctrl + Alt + Delet and either reboot or re-login. The 2nd time I log in or boot, All my icons and stuff load normaly but after about 3 seconds it will start switching between my desktop and the colour of my start menue (blank background) staying on each for about 1/2 a second. After about 5-10 seconds of this, it will return to the desktop with nothing loaded as mentioned before.

What's happening and how can I fix it?

A:Forced 8.1 Update Broke PC

As mentioned before, sometimes it loads normaly for about 10-15 secs, so I used this time to start a factory reset. I'll see what happens when it's done.

Just got the march 17th update and it broke most of my usb devices. Occulus rift, joysticks, steering wheel etc. basicly anything that needs any power such as leds.

usb devices except mouse and keyboard(not sure why) keep turning on and off every few seconds so cant be used. it was all good earlier today, then got the update which we dont have any choice in , and now usb 2/3 or even powered hub makes no difference. just keeps powering up and down.

Using evga x99 classified and no driver updates are available so any idea when this will be fixed?
