T480 cannot connect to VGA Projector

Q: T480 cannot connect to VGA Projector

I have a T480 and I am trying to connect it to a VGA (4x3) projector. I have both a Lenovo brand USB-c to VGA adapter and a Lenovo brand HDMI to VGA adapter. I set the resolution at 1024x768 and can't connect to either. I will note that I also have a Lenovo P50 which connects just fine using a Mini-display port to VGA adapter. Does it have something to do with refresh rate? I tried a bunch of different resolutions to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

guys , i just bought a dell xps 15 laptop and then i bought a HDMI cable , the laptop has a shortcut key f1 to connect to a projector like windows key+ p , first it connected real good...i watched movies and all the sound was also great , then due to a virus i had to reinstall windows 7 again i installed each and every driver from the driver cd that i got with the laptop , but now its not connecting to my panasonic viera lcd via hdmi cable , whenever i try to do it it says "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO PROJECTOR , NO PROJECTOR WAS DETECTED" i tried to lower the reolution also but still the same result....plz help me out...

On my laptop I press the fn key and then there's one of the f keys that switch from the laptop screen to the external monitor and then both as you toggle through. On my main computer, I'm having a problem with it not sending the signal to the monitor which is connected through an HDMI cable as well. I have to unplud the connector and plug it back in so that it detects the connection again. It works then, but I haven't figured out what's causing it yet.

Have tried different projectors.  I am beginning to wonder if I cannot use the usb-c port as a display port, which really makes no sense (since the machine only has 2xusb-c, 1x regular usb, and no hdmi ports...)

Yup, on your laptop is a special key combo, FN + F5. Click it once, it goes to the projector. Click it again, it goes to both. One more time, it goes back to just the laptop.

My HP Powerbook 4440s goes black when I plug into a projector.  The projector says no signal.  I tried a differnet computer and it connected right away to the projector.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled (from intel website) the graphics card driver and rebooted and it was still going black.  I have set the settings in the control panel and used windows + p to select duplicate.  Everytime I plug the VGA in the screen goes black and when I unplug it my control panel and windows +p settings are back to computer only.

I have a working PS4 that used to be able to connect to my old PLV-Z2 sanyo projector via a HDMI-DVI cable. Recently the projector is saying there is no signal.

I have tested the cable and projector with a different PS4 and it works fine.

I?ve tested the ?broken? PS4 using the same cable through a monitor and it works fine. I?ve also tested it through a Tv using a HDMI-HDMI cable and again it works fine.
I?m completely stumped as to why the console will no longer provide a signal to the projector.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

(Side: I have tried enabling/disabling the suggested settings on the PS4, and the current settings are a mirror of the working PS4)

I'm having problems to connect this Laptop to an external projector.

When i connect the cable, he recognize the projector and screen appears, but after 15/30 seconds the screen goes black and computer keeps trying to connect again to projector, and problem keeps when its connected.

The connection to projector is made trough VGA cable with approx. 10 meters, i tested on several other projectors with other cables and the problem continues.

The computer is new and i have installed the latest drivers. What can i do to solve this issue?

A:Cannot connect Satellite Z30-A-1D8 to external projector

Did you try to use an shorter cable?
Not quite sure but it could be possible that the issue appears due to the long (10m) cable.
How about the usage of HDMI cable? Did you test it?

At the other hand I would recommend you also a graphic card driver.

By the way: to toggle between the external and internal monitor, you should use the Fn + F5 key combination.
Note: if you use the simultaneous mode you must set the resolution of the internal display panel to match the resolution of the external display.

Hi Everyone,

I have upgraded a HP ProBook 6570b from Windows 7 to Windows 10 in the hope of being able to connect Wirelessly (through WiDi) to an Epson Projector.

The upgrade went quite smoothly, and on the surface it looks like the 6570b will be able to make a wireless connection to the projector, as shown below.

However shortly after clicking on the projector name I see the message shown below -

I know that the projector works because I have been able to connect to it using my new Lenovo Yoga 14 laptop. Is this simply a case of the 6570b not having quite the right hardware, or are there other settings that I can tweak here?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

I posted in a previous thread about the Aaxa Tech L1v2 being used as a MS Office Projector, and it really caught my attention! I ended up getting one and thought I would share with everyone a full review!
I am what some call a tech connoisseur. I always like to get my hands on the newest tech products, ranging from cell phones to projectors. Today’s product to go under the microscope is Aaxa Tech’s L1v2. The L1v2 is the second generation of the laser pico projector line. The most prominent features of the L1v2 are the improved performance, better heat dissipation, a new modern look, and most importantly a much much better price point, $399!

My expectations for this product were high as it is a second generation product. Taking it out of the box, I was immediately amazed the size and weight of the L1v2. The dimensions are 4.2”x2.1”x1.2” and weighs only 170 grams with the battery! To put this in perspective, it’s almost the equivalent of the HTC 8525, which isn’t bad at all. The box includes: the unit itself, AC adapter, A/V cable, VGA cable, and tripod clip (no tripod unfortunately). The Iphone/Ipod/Ipad adapter is sold separately unfortunately. The L1v2 is made from what seems to be durable plastic, meaning it could easily go in to your briefcase without much concern. The black matte finish gives it a smooth exterior with little chance of finger prints or smudges. The buttons are a decent size and aren... Read more

I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit (6.3, Build 9600) in my laptop (Lenovo Y510P). When I connect the VGA Port of my laptop to a projector and choose the duplicate screen option (Fn+F3 in my laptop), the display projected on the (exterior) screen starts flickering wildly. At the same time the display on my laptop screen is stable (the resolution changes, but apart from that it's okay). I have tried it with four different cords (and projectors), so I suppose that it may not be an issue with the display cord(s). My laptop is relatively new (still covered under warranty) and this issue started with my laptop since the first time I tried to connect the VGA port to a projecter. Is this a hardware issue with the VGA port of my laptop or is there a possibility that it may be a software (driver) issue also? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey guys,

It says that it uses drivers to do this, but I called AAXA and they said that Windows 7 is currently officially supported - that it may work but they can't make any guarantees.

Has anyone ever heard of a USB to Projector type of projector before? Anyone try the AAXA M1 on Windows 7? The projector looks really cool and is cheap ($299) but I want to make sure it works first...

Would love to be able to share movies with these poor kids, who never have access to computers or movies, just lousy TV, and not much of that.

My company is on the verge of buying a new projector & we just stumbled across something which probably is vital!

BRIGHTNESS!!! The projector we are looking at is a SHARP XV-Z9000.

Having looked at the spec, it states that the brightness is 800 ANSI Lumen.
Most other projectors we've looked in a similar price range & with the resolution we need (1280 X 1024) have brightness levels of 1000, 1500 & higher.

The last thing we want to do is lay out 4000 only to find that it's not bright enough!

Can someone help out please! Many thanks.

A:Projector Brightness!

I have doing a lot of shopping for projectors and my conclusion is that 800 lumens is minimal in brightness and would be ok in a darkened room. If the room is large or bright 800 will probably be quite dim for you.
Look at this site: http://www.projectorcentral.com/site-guide.htm

I am looking seriously at the BenQ PB6200. It is rated at 1700 lumens and is at the lower ends in terms of cost.
Good luck.

Later this month, I am speaking at a Portland garden show. I will be doing a PowerPoint presentation - my first - and for now, plan to use my desktop computer (have no real need for a laptop yet).

Anyway, a nurseryman's association will be supplying a projector. I forget the technical term, but it's one of those projectors that starts at about $1000 and up an up, that can be connected to a computer.

What I am curious about, when I hook that up to my computer (I'm guessing to the monitor cable) should it automatically project an image when everything is turned on?

And, whereas my monitor has an "in" and an "out" in back, can I run another cable off my monitor and run the projector and monitor at the same time?

I know that every monitor I've connected to may computer just happens to work right away, whether 15" or the 21" I have now. It would be nice if the projector was just as simple. But since this will be my first experience with one, I have no idea about set-up or tweaking.
