My aspire R3-471 rarely charges while it's on.

Q: My aspire R3-471 rarely charges while it's on.

I apologize if this question was already asked, but I couldn't find anything with my specific issue. My laptop occasionally charges while on, but for the most part will show X% available(plugged in,not charging). When I put the laptop to sleep however, it charges fully in about a hour and a half(I only know because the orange charge indicator turns blue when charged). I had a problem earlier in the year when the laptop didn't charge at all, to which acer diagnosed as a charger port issue. However, when the laptop was sent in, all they did was change the battery. I went to a local shop that tested out the original chargers voltage, and they gave me the new charger I'm using now.Is there anything I can do about this issue without a warranty?Fee lfree to ask me anything about either charger.

Preferred Solution: My aspire R3-471 rarely charges while it's on.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I had that problem on R3-471, I looked for the little pinhole on the bottom. I carefully followed steps in link below (because I didn't know what else to try). Anyway, it fixed it. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26240/~/how-to-reset-the-battery-on-your-ultrabook

Hi guys,

I've got my uncle's Acer Aspire 5536 that I am having some trouble with. He said that the laptop just decided not to work.

When I press the power button absolutely nothing happens.
When I plug my charger in, the power button lights up blue and so does the battery light (Orange when was charging, now blue).

There is still nothing happening when I press the power button though.

I've tried taking the battery and charger out and holding the power button for a few minutes then connect the charger, to no avail!

I popped the casing above the keyboard off to make sure that the power button wasn't just stuck. All seems fine.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Great laptop that Ive been using for 1.5 years. Recently I've noticed my battery is showing signs of an error other Dell users are reporting.
Laptop charges fine to 76% then it starts alternating from "plugged in, charging" to "plugged in, not charging". Charging after 76% becomes really slow.
What I've done so far:
1. Updated BIOS
2. Updated Dells Power Management tool
3. BIOS can detect the adapter (45W). Im using the adapter that came with the laptop
4. Battery settings in power management and BIOs are set to Standard
5. Completely drained the battery and tried doing a full charge
6. Uninstalled Microsoft ACPI compliant control in device manager then re-installed
Battery diagnostics show the battery is in EXCELLENT health.
Any ideas?

About 3 months ago i had a problem with my pc. When i pressed the power button, it only went as far as the windows xp page then the monitor would get no signal and the mouse would go dead too, then the some of the fans stopped and it turned it self off. So every time i tried to boot the problem persisted. So i took it to the shop and they said my CMOS battery was dead and replaced it with a new one. Cost me 100 dollars for them to do that. Then it worked great for the next 2 months.

Now im getting kind of the same problem. It cant be the CMOS batter because it lasts for ages right?

Sometime it boots up normally and it works great like now but most of the time it goes up to the xp loading page and then turns itself off. Sometimes it shows the very first bios information page and it says:

Primary Master not detected
Primary Slave not Detected

Or sometimes it is

Problem with Hardware monitor check power options.

its really wierd and i dont know whats making it act this way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information ill be happy to supply it.

Thanks a lot in advance,

I searched the site for an answer but could not find one.

Specs: Windows XP, 80 GB HD, Dell Inspiron 15160 Laptop, Pentium (4) 3.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM.

I got this laptop 11/04. Lately, the fan seems to always be running except when in sleep mode (or turned off ) I downloaded SpeedFan 4.25 from download.com. It says it found ACPI temperature of 56.5C. CPU usage is low.

I don't have a clue as to why the fan is always running. It is located on the bottom of the laptop. I cleaned so there is no dust on the fan and raised the laptop up so it can 'breathe' but the fan still keeps running.

Any thoughts? Or, what should the temperature be? Can I change any settings to ensure I meet this?

As always, any help is greatly appreciated!

All hard drives have a wear and tear period. The problem is we don't know when... A secondary drive even not accessed primarily unlike your system drive would not be exempted to this. That is why imaging and backup software and drives were invented.

Sound Skipping, Rarely, But Sometimes

Hi Guys... Question For You (Obviously)

Every one and awhile my computer will skip kinda like a CD but its very obnoxious! >,<
Example, When I Start UP It Makes The Beautiful Windows 7 Start Up Sound....
Do Do Doo Do-Skips Obsessivley for 1 or 3 seconds- and resumes

It Does This Too When I Am Muti-Tasking, Right Now I Am Listening To Music, And It Works Very Nicely, But When It Does Eventually Skip, It Freezes My Computer For Like 3 Seconds, And Does The Obnoxious Noise.

Is It My Hard Drive? Or Like Is It My Processor?
I'm Only 15! Btw >.<

Its A Laptop.
Sound Card Information:

A:Sound Skipping, Rarely, But Sometimes

The "skipping" at boot up can be where the sound is initialized in the Windows initialization process.

Skipping at other times, especially during multi-tasking can just be because the sound is on a shared IRQ with a higher priority IRQ item (common). 2GB of RAM is minimum for a 64 bit OS, I'd upgrade to at least 4GB of RAM. May not help the skipping but it will help the overall system.

One thing to try, go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the Conexant audio device and then LEFT click to "uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This may also put it on a different shared IRQ and help with the skipping.

The Acer has Wi-Fi and ethernet capability, right? In the US there are free wireless hotspots at McDonald's, Panera Bread, Starbucks and some other restaurants, many libraries, and at some Interstate rest stops. Most hotels and motels include wireless and/or ethernet access along with the room. Some hotels have a computer in the lobby for guests to use.

Hello fellow people
I have a Dell Latitude Laptop:
My computer won't turn on. I took the rechargeable battery out and waited for 30 seconds. I put the battery back in and tried to turn it on: it would not boot.
I took out the rechargeable battery and pressed the button on it and the power meter indicates that the battery is at full strength. So I left the battery out of the laptop and tried to boot, but no success.
I put the battery back in. Another day, it booted up. Then yesterday, I tried again, and it would not boot.
Does any computer people know what the problem might be?

Essentially, for the past few months, my lenovo has slowly been getting worse, but all of sudden it is terrible. Essentially, whenever it is turned off (or in hibernation, I believe), it refuses to turn on. When I press the power button, I get the keyboard back light (which I can turn on and off) and sometimes the fan briefly starts, then the screen just starts barely discernabley flashing, maybe every second or so. And that's it. It hangs there essentially indefinitely. Eventually, I can usually get it to turn on, but what used to take maybe 30 seconds now can take upwards of half an hour, or more.  I cannot figure out why it does eventually turn on, or what sort of things are impacting it. I've tried unplugging everything, but it seems to work with everything plugged in as well. I've tried all manner of tilting the case, pressing on parts of the case etc. I've opened it up (I'm out of warranty anyways) as well. Disconnecting the battery and running a power cycle did nothing (though I should say I was unable to figure out how to disconnect the CMOS safely). I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the display and hard drive, as per a suggestion in another thread, but no luck.  Any ideas? Tips for at least getting it to turn on? I need to reliably squeeze another week out of this at least before I even think about getting parts replaced (or just getting a new laptop...)

Lately ive been having a problem with my computer.

I built it about a year ago, and it worked fine until recently.

A lot of times it will try to boot from a CD on startup, it will freeze randomly and i'll get the blue screen, it will loop the windows loading logo over and over, and many other problems.

What can I do to solve this? I don't even know where to start; registry, files, internet... I have no idea.

After second time it froze, I'm getting angry. It was the second time it crashed in that way within two weeks.

I have no idea what it does. I just browse with Google Chrome 17, and I was writing a comment on Youtube. And it froze. I had to hard reset, because nothing worked.

In the background I ran: Steam, HD Sentinel, Sizer, Gadwin Printscreen, WLM, Plus! Service, Team Viewer service.

My CPU usage was around 1-5%.

After hard resetting, Windows didn't show the "System recovered from a serious crash" message, also it started normally.

Last time, when my PC froze, I also browsed the internet, and I was listening to music. Same kind of crash, mouse didn't work, keyboard didn't work-->hard reset.

Sometimes I run Unity3D, 3ds max, or games, but I didn't experienced the problem during those activities.

I'm not even sure, it is caused by a software.

A:PC freezing randomly and rarely

Please follow the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html to provide us with more information regarding the freezes. I know you do not have a blue screen crash, but those reports can also help with freeze problems.

For freezes, we recommend a few things:Check hardware temperatures:Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.

My DVD drive has slowy gotten worse over time in terms of actually loading what I put in. Usually all I get is a lot of loading noises. When I go to "computer" and see the dvd drive listed, it just says DVD RW Drive, If i try to right click on it to see options , it just freezes. Once and a while a disc will load, and recently one loaded after about 15 minutes. It's an all in one computer so the dvd drive is located on the side, if that helps.

A:DVD drive rarely works

Run a lense cleaner CD a few times to clean the lense.

If it does not help, I am afraid your only option will be to replace the optical drive.

( If possible connect a known good USB external Optical drive and check. If it works then it is almost certain you need to replace the internal drive. Take professional help if it is not a DIY job on your all-in-one.)

Hi guys,

I have a new Desktop computer, it is like 7 months old. First, I should say, I build it with a guy who knows these jobs. But when I started to use it, I received BSOD like 3 times a day. Then I sent it to the guy which I build the computer with, he said he fixed it and it was OK. But when I took it back, the BSOD started to appear again. I sent it and we saw that RAM wasn't supporting the computer, so we changed it and get a new RAM. Then, I started using it, everything was OK but then the BSOD appeared again and I sent it back. He said he re-installed the OS so when I get it back, the BSOD started again. So I hope there will be a solution for my problem.

My OS is Windows 7.
My PC is 32bit (x86).
Original OS installed on the system was Windows 8.
My OS is a full retail version.
Age of system is 7 months old.
Normally the OS is 7 months old, but I re-installed W7 3,5 months ago.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor (4.00 GHz)
Video Card: ASUS EAH6670 Series
Motherboard: ASUSTeK M5A97 R2.0

System Manufacturer: I've set up the computer by myself.
Exact model number: There isn't.

Recently, my Dell Inspiron Windows 7 laptop has been encountering this odd issue.

So here is how a typical "boot" goes:
I hit the power button, and then three lights turn on in this order:

Usually, the second 2 light signals the boot of the BIOS if it stays on longer than the other lights. But most of the time, it does not boot the BIOS (or load Windows). I am then left off with a black screen, no sounds.

So basically, my computer has turned into a box of lights that sometimes boots Windows 7. It usually takes anywhere from 15 minutes to almost 5 hours to load up the BIOS, and it seems to be total luck. Anybody know what could cause this, and what the solution is?

I've been having problems with my computer, which mostly involve freezing and hanging. I have had the bsod occur, but, are rare and may have been related to malware, virus, etc. that have been addressed in the HijackThis forums. I'll try to describe as best I can what has been happening and give you some information that I found in the Event Viewer to help.

First, any time I try to watch a video from a site like youtube, my computer will freeze/hang. I can not get the computer to respond to any input and can only shut it down by holding the power button in until it shuts off.

Second, I have noticed that some web forums that I am a member at, I can not log in without Internet Explorer presenting a message that it has detected a problem and has to close shortly after I have logged in. Other sites, like this one, I do not have a problem at all. Sometimes, it just does it with general web surfing. This problem only started after installing IE8. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but, it doesn't help.

Third, any time I try to play a cd/dvd, it will eventually freeze causing a loop of the last maybe 2 seconds of whatever I was playing. When this happens, I can eject the cd/dvd, but, the loop will continue. Sometimes, I can close WMP after ejecting the cd/dvd and other times I can not. In most instances, the computer will freeze up shortly after if didn't happen immediately when the loop starts. This behavior will happen in both my dvd b... Read more

Initially it started happening on the CD-RW drive with CD-R discs that had not been finalised but it has steadily got worse until this morning when i cannot get them to recognise any discs at all.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is it simply that the lenses need cleaning and if so what is the best way to do that. Or have the drives slowly died and i need to go shopping?

Thanks for your help,

Brand new ZBook 17 G3 (X9T87UT#ABA) with M.2 512 SSD and 2.5" 7.2k SATA HDD pre-installed.  I want to add an additional SSD but it is a 2.5" SATA.  I can see it in the BIOS/UEFI and I am sure I have seen it in Windows & Intel storage manager.  Unit came with an additional 2.5" caddie so in went a 500GB SATA SSD.  I had to have a keyboard replaced on unit and up to that point I thought I had the second SATA (SSD no HDD) visible.  After not so much.  I also noticed tech update TPM to 2.0 from 1.2 so not sure if related. Per quickspecs the 2.5" drives are for SATA HDD's but that may options you can buy versus truely supported.  Anyway will open a ticket with support after one more attempt.  So far in UEFI I have made changes to all drive realted options (SecureBoot, Legacy, etc) but no success.  I have tried two Crucial SSD's and have one Samsung left to try.  Only thing I am unsure about is GPT vs MBR for drives but will check. Thoughts and thanks!

I have some very old speakers from my Gateway system, which I purchased back in 1998 along with my first computer. For the most part, the speakers work great! Flash forward four computers later, and I would say maybe once every three to four months the sound will either drop for a while and may come back several seconds to minutes later. Sometimes a reboot fixes them, sometimes not.

I now have the speakers hooked up to a brand new Dell system with Windows 10. Just got the computer about three weeks ago. Sound from the same speakers went out just like it did with these speakers on two previous computers since the original Gateway. One running Windows XP, and the other running Windows 7.

1.) What is most likely causing this issue? It happens so infrequently but it does happen.
2.) I set my speakers System Tray task bar to 60% and no higher, which reduces the frequency of this occurrence.
3.) Both speakers when this happen, it happens at the same time.
4.) If the speakers are so old, wouldn't the sound just die and not come back?
5.) My suspicion is a dirty wire or cable someplace associated with the speakers over the years and just having the plugs/contacts cleaned.

A little background history. I built a new machine about a month ago. So far I have only encountered 3 blue screens over the month. They seem to come very randomly and while playing BF3. Sometimes I have played for 4-5 hours without a single instance and another time it happened within 4-5 minutes.

I am running Win7x64 Ult, Asus P8P67 Pro Rev 3.1 Firm. 2103, 2500k no O/C, 2x4GB Gskill DDR1600, 750w PSU with plenty of 12v rail amps, and a Radeon 5970 no O/C with 11.12 drivers.

I am 99% positive it is not hardware related. I have ran memtest and windows men tool for 8-9 hours without a single error, prime95+furmark for hours on end with no problems. My temps are even below average for all my hardware.

I used Blue Screen View to read my dump file and it said that USBPORT.sys was the reason for the crash. The only thing I have USB is my Logitech G700 wireless mouse. I remember however, that I don't think I uninstalled all my old chipset, usb, and audio drivers before I installed new ones so I wonder if there is corruption somewhere etc.

Anyways here is my file! All help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

My monitor gets no signal at all (that doesn't mean the monitor says no signal, it just keeps itself in stand-by mode). My first guess was a broken AGP slot, but PCI videocards give equal results.

I have an ASUS P4B533 mobo. All hardware seems fine, pc stripped down to mobo, agp videocard, ram, psu, fans. HDD and fans start. Tried to reset the CMOS. After doing that, and trying to boot a few times, BIOS screen popped up asking me the processor speed. I turn the thing off, plug in a keyboard hoping for another BIOS screen, but I don't get it.

I get my USB keyboard ready (plug and play right) and after trying another 100 times to boot up I get another post, then BIOS screen. Asks me for processor speed again, I plug in the USB keyboard and the screen becomes distorted (not sure if distorted is the word, anyway, as if an corrupt image file is displayed, there's wrong coloured bars all over the place).

When I got those post/bios screens, I didn't change the configuration from what I tried before. It seemed completely random to me. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English.

A:No post, no bios - but very rarely they show up

When you get this black screen, have you tried the reset button? Any obvious damage in the system like bad capacitors or funny smell from the PSU?

It is probably some bad component.. You should just start replacing them one by one - PSU, RAM, CPU, motherboard. Replace as in borrow bits from your friends or take the system to a repair shop where they have stuff lying around to try out

i have a new laptop, windows 7, HP touchsmart, it connects very rarely and i cant seem to predict when or why it will work. i know the internet is fine because it works on my other computer, and the HP works fine when it connects. it isnt a problem with the connection dropping out really, it just wont connect most of the time. once it connects its pretty good.

the computer is getting a strong wifi signal for the network, but when i try to connect it just says "windows could not connect to (network name)" and none of the windows diagnostic tools have any effect.

i dont know too many tricks to help here, expect maybe disable/enable the network device, and that dont work.

when i look online i see a dizzying array of troubleshooting roads to go down for network problems, but im hoping someone with experience can tell me the most likely problems, knowing that the internet is working, the signal is strong, but windows gives me that cryptic error nearly every time (but i sometimes can connect)... its as if the computer is moody, a successful connection will lead to more success, and a failure to connect will lead to a pattern of more failures.

it has norton internet security on it and i tried disabling the network and web stuff to no effect.

what kind of problem would likely explain this behavior? thanks!

A:new computer connects to wireless network, rarely.

Ok I put this system to gather about a little under a year ago and have had problems almost ever since (sadly I do not have warranty) System specs are as follows
-(CPU) AMD FX-8 9590
-(GPU) Nvidia Geforce GTX 950
-(RAM) 2x8 Gb Kingston sticks ddr3
-(PSU) ATNG ATM-600FB 600W
-(HDD) Toshiba DT01ACA200 7200 rpm
-(MOBO)- Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 (version F2)My system will freeze without warning or error message, sometimes in game sometimes while I am idling it is very random so thus far I have had no way to reduplicate it so  I can so what Is actually causing it, I have had a few bsod's even while at an Idle screen, at this point I think it may be either a failing PSU or Ram stick although I could be wrong even about that.
I added my crash dumps just in case they might be of any use.
I have tried reinstalling Windows 10 multiple times which results in it running smooth for a few days (giving me false hope -_-) and things like clean installing my drivers but to no avail
Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated as this is driving me insane!

I've been using Outlook Express for a long time. Recently it's been unable to connect to my incoming mail server about one in five times, but before it couldn't do it at all. However, it pretty much never is able to make a connection with my outgoing mail server. My webmail works just fine, so it isn't their servers. Nothing had been changed when the problem started or since then. I've looked over and over my account configurations and they all look good. I've even made a new account and it's the same problem. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be wrong?
The error I get when trying to send mail is as follows:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '(the person's address)@aol.com'. Initializing disk for crash dump

I've lurked around on a lot of websites looking over all the information available before posting here. I replaced a Seagate 1TB HDD with a Caviar 1TB, and that is when the problems began. I am leaning towards the Caviar just being a dud of an HDD, but I want to talk this out with some people before I switch my HDD.

I've followed all the standard "make sure your collection is turned on" steps in the Startup and Recovery settings. All drivers are up to date. No Malware on the PC. Temps and voltage appear fine. 15 Hours worth of passes on the RAM turned out ok. Chkdsk returned no errors.

I've seen that problem with nearly every 0x000000F4 error, and it has yet to be solved. For whatever reason, no one with the 0x0F4 error can ever produce a minidump , which makes this all the more frustrating.
So, in essence, computer worked fine, switched HDD, and now computer doesn't work. The entire PC is brand new.

Here's the deal:

I've had this computer for about 5 years, and never had a problem like this before. (As a side note, I replaced the CRT monitor that came with the PC with a new LCD one on January 2nd.) On February 3rd, my PC just shuts down out of the blue. Not thinking of this as a big deal, I tried turning it back on. No matter how many times I turned off the power supply, and pressed the power on button on my PC, it wouldn't run like it usually does.

The following are the different ways this faulty computer reacts to me trying to turn it on:

1) The fans run, and everything seems to power up fine for about 4 to 5 seconds... then it randomly shuts down. I don't even hear the first beep.

2) It turns onto the BIOS screen
a) After exiting BIOS, my computer turns on and everything runs like it should.
b) Before even getting a chance to exit BIOS, the PC shuts down... again.

3) Everything runs smoothly like it did before, and my PC only shuts down when I want it to - no problems.

4) Everything runs smoothly for 5 - 10 minutes. Random shut down once again.

5) When I turn on my power supply, my PC sometimes turns on by itself. How odd.

6) Nothing runs. No fans, no nothing.

Is my motherboard fried? Is my LCD screen using too much power? Is it just time to get a new computer? I need help! I think I'm going to go mad with rage.

A:Help! My PC randomly shuts down and rarely powers back up.

Hi and welcome to Techspot. This sounds like it might be a faulty power supply. Do you have another one you could try in your case?

My main computer is not working so I'm using this old laptop instead. I haven't turned it on for at least a month or two. I can't remember if I was having this problem before and ignored it or if it is new. Seems like after my computer has been asleep for a while then when i wake it up I get a series of referenced memory errors like this:
The instruction “0x02ea609c” referenced memory at “0x00000014”. The memory could not be “read”.
This is a lenovo x61s running windows xp. I have this thing for many years, it's so slow. ugh. thought that was just because I don't have enough ram but maybe something else is going on too. All the data was transferred to my new pc, which isn't working, so when I get the other pc working again should I just wipe everything off this one and reinstall windows xp and other vital software and start from scratch?

Hi all, I have a Dell XPS15 laptop. Specs are:

*Win7 x64
*OEM original install from vendor
*system purchased only 6 mo. ago
*bought refurbished from Dell. I'm assuming Dell just wipes refurbs and installs OS anew. So, basically 6 mo. I have not re-installed the OS.

*power supply = Dell 90w AC brick that came with laptop

*Dell XPS 15 (XPS L501X)
*see attached screen shot of "sys info"

Issue: I get BSOD when re-opening my lid after sleep (but not everytime). At first very infrequently (approx. 1 out of 8 sleeps) but happening more frequently now (1 out of 3.) It seems that, the longer the sleep, the greater the chance of BSOD. And occasionally while in sleep mode it will turn itself off (although not set to do so. BSOD while asleep I guess). But mostly it BSODs after I lift the screen and it wakes up. However, this morning, on a totally fresh boot, it got all the way to the password screen and gave me a BSOD. This has only happened twice, yesterday and today.

A few days ago I called Dell and the guy ran Dell health check software. It took awhile and showed no problems. The BSOD said something about updating BIOS and since no problems were showing up he updated the BIOS. That didn't clear it up and a second tech seemed to think it was a peripheral driver issue. My peripherals:
*microsoft trackball mouse
*2 external WD hard drives
*USB hub
*USB speakers

Ok, I was playing SimCity this morning when I suddenty got the BSoD referencing Memory Management as the problem. I figured it was just a fluke, so I restarted the machine. It got to the the Windows 7 loading screen and BSoD showed up again with a "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message. Then it just refused to turn on. It would power up, but not even make it to the BIOS loading screen. Eventually I got it up into safe mode and scanned with MalwareBytes. That found 3 viruses (PUPs, looked to be on of those free cursor things my sister installed(, but when I restarted the computer after the scan, I got the BSoD again with an error message of "Driver has overrun a stack based buffer". Now it just refuses to get to the BIOS loading screen, like before. Although now, the MoBo just beeps once every few seconds. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? I could see it being hardware, but considering how sporadic the problem is and how different the error messages are, I could see this being the viruses I found. Any help would be great.
Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit
AMD Athalon processor (2.2 GHz)
8 Gb DDR3 RAM

Edit: I finally got it up long enough for MalwareBytes to run all the way and remove the infected files. Turns out it was a remnant of a virus that my brother removed months ago the just made itself known now (something called Fun Moods?). How do I ensure that this is fully removed from my system?

Recently a lot of the pages (50%) I visit get stuck loading halfway or never load at all and I have to keep refreshing until it works. Also I cannot load any Youtube videos or videos from any Video sites like YouTube.

The most recent thing I installed was Motorola phonetools for my phone, USB drivers also for my phone, and bluetooth software. The bluetooth software seemed to have reset a lot of my settings. For example I use an online chat program and it changed my default microphone to bluetooth and also in another program it changed the network card I'm suppose to use. Might this be related to my faulty internet conneciton?

I have a Pentium II 400 using Win 98 and a Motorolla SM56 AD04 56K winmodem. I got the computer last september and I've been using a phone line for internet access. But since I have 2 phone line and the phone line I am not using has call waiting, I decided to use my second phone line for internet access.

Initially, the problem was every once in a while ( every 2 - 3 days), I get connected with this second phone line, but most of the time, I get 'No dial tone', even though the phone cord is plugged in and is tested to work with the phone. When changing to this phone line, I changed the phone number settings. ( With this settings - I was able to connect to the internet with the first phone line - the one that I used to use for internet access ).

A day before changing my phone lines, I installed a shareware called Modem Booster (which is suppose to tune up your modem so you'll get faster speed - downloaded from download.com ). Also, I made sure that I uninstalled the shareware before I changed my phone line.

Could it be that 'modem booster' ruined the settings in my modem? That's what I thought initially so I installed modem booster with my second phone line ( I was able to connect to the internet for 3 days but then the line didn't work anymore. Next, I upgraded my modem driver which did not help at all. Could it be that my second phone line doesn't have enough power ( or something) to provide internet access? HELP.

Hey Guys, I've got a problem with my wireless or computer I think.

Hardware: Inte PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter

1. A VERY rare occasion: When I enable my wireless card in Network Connections, it will allow me to connect to my wireless network, and the internet would work fine.

2. 99% of the time: I enable my wireless card, and connect to my home wireless network (which is always 3-5 green bars of connection quality), the network will appear to connect OK, but then my internet will not work.

3. 80% of the time: The wireless network I conntect to (which is supposed to be called "NETGEAR") turns into a really weird network name like "uclm-qc" but it's in weird symbols. This happens with any network I connect to, whether it's my home network, at Starbucks, or at someone else's home.

Here are some screenshots:

I tried reinstalling drivers... nothing.
I tried reinstalling Windows... nothing.
I swept my computer for any adware and virus... nothing.
I have never changed my Internet Protocols since it worked once.

What do you guys think?

Thanks a lot!!

A:Wireless Internet in Dell 9200 Works Very Rarely

Do you really need and want that many automatic connection profiles?

Suggest that you rename your network to something slightly more original than "NETGEAR," remove all other profiles except the ones with encryption, make sure your home network is the first listed, and see what happens.

Problem number 1)
Every once in a blue moon my computer decide to change the boot order of my hard drives, so that the one with my OS is not included. The fix is simple; I go into the BIOS setting and add it back on top of the list. But it is quite annoying (especially if it happens for my girlfriend, who does not know how to fix it).
I have been unable to find any patterns to when it happens. It happens very rarely, maybe once every two months, but other times it does it twice a week.

Problem number 2)
This problem appeared together with the upgrade to windows 10 (from Windows 7). Once in a while, at least once per week, I start my computer and it is unable to play any kind of videos. On Youtube, it appears to load the video/commercial but does not move beyond 0.00. Same with VLC player, or any other players I have tried. Additionally, steam is unable to launch.
When I try to restart or turn off the computer, it appear to shut windows down normally, but it never turns of the power and I have to kill it by force.

Any help it appreciated.

A:2 problems: removal of HD from boot order (rarely) and video

There are on the Asus site Intel drivers
Chipset drivers and a SATA controller driver recently issued for Windows 10

There is also a VGA driver but as you are using the AMD9000 series card and the driver is for the integrated graphics that will be of little concern to you.

There are three main reasons for the situation with the boot priority order of hard disk priority been changed
It is NOT a windows issue, as of course this is in the firmware and outside of control of windows
1. BIOS faulty will not retain settings
2. Is time and date correct in BIOS if computer is left powered off and mains power disconnected
3. BIOS detects error on disk or controller and order is changed

Returning to the actual drives on that motherboard some SATA ports are controlled from the Intel chipset hence my mention of the driver above
and some from the ASMedia chip - which is the SATA driver aforementioned

Intel Z77 chipset : 2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), gray
4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), blue
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
Supports Intel Smart Response Technology, Intel Rapid Start Technology, Intel Smart Connect Technology
ASMedia PCIe SATA controller : *62 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), navy blue

I would check
1. Time and date settings
2. I would if those are in order install drivers as mentioned and check
3. I would of course check carefully connections to the OCZ if the SATA leads are not the clip sort they are so easily partially dislod... Read more
