Data Recovery With Pc Inspector File Recovery

Q: Data Recovery With Pc Inspector File Recovery

Hiya... I managed to lose one of my HDD's with all my multimedia on it and have been trying unsuccessfully to regain it with PCINSPECTOR.The HDD ISNT where my windows is installed and has become corrupted; something happened with the partition and it went kablooey. The problem i seem to be having with PCINSPECTOR is that it comes up with; for example "Cluster386.MP3" and it doesn't work. Is it something wrong with how im using PCI or something like that. I scan for drives...Choose "NONAME on FIXED DISK 2", scan for logical drives... and withing the first ten seconds it comes up with two partitions... Choosing the second one i get these files and the first one nothing. Scanning them for FAT. So basically am i using "PCI FR" properly am i doing something wrong and/or, is there a cheap, better alternative with results?Patch.Sorry guys bt i managed to fix this with the use of a different program... Awesome program I'm gonna plug it now "R Studio," well worth the investment... My Multimedia was worth the $80 odd...

I recommend downloading and running DRP. It's a recovery tool that has been proven to recover files that most other programs have no luck with. I've even recovered files from freshly formatted or partitioned drives.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/v51TwD. (This link will automatically start a download of DRP that you can save to your computer.)

I recently reinstalled Windows and after I did so, my computer couldn't detect my slave drive so I got MaxBlast4 (HD installer for Maxtor HDs) to install my slave drive, and it quick formatted it and I then couldn't see my files, so i used File Recovery 4 from here. When i search my slave drive for lost files, the program shows everything in clusters (screenshot of this below) but I have no idea what to do with the clusters or even what they are.

Can someone please help me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
JayBK.

The files, although recovered, are most likely corrupted. Corruption doesn't alter the file-size but renders them unusable. There's nothing you can do to make them good again.

Hello,
I have an 82GB .vhdx file (a File History Backup) on a portable HDD. I want to get some lost photos from it.

There are a few issues though.

1. It's a backup of a motherboard that no longer works. (An old computer of mine) The M/B has been disposed of.

2. I have the model number of the board.

3. A computer tech said that if I can get the same working board a can build a temporary PC to extract the data from the drive.

4. It's an old board that's not available or even sold second hand on eBay or Gumtree.

5. I am using Windows 10/1903 Home

Are there any other options available? I have tried one where you try to trick a fresh Windows 10 installation on a computer to restore from it , but I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks for reading.

(BTW if this is in the wrong forum then please tell me and then move as appropriate. Thanks.)

Yesterday I was trying to put my Packard Bell iMedia 1601 running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 to sleep and I got a blue screen with the following error codes:

STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x835C7A98, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

Following that, I could not boot in any mode further than the Microsoft Windows XP loading screen, at which point the same blue screen was displayed.

Today I decided to go ahead with a Packard Bell Partial Recovery, which allows you to retain your data. At first the System Restore (on the first screen) and Partial Recovery (on the second screen) options were greyed out, and then System Restore randomly became available, so I tried that, got an error message, clicked "OK" the first time and closed it the second time and both times it restarted. Then Partial Recovery was suddenly available.

So I went ahead with that and when it came to the screen where it asked me what user I wanted to retain the only option was "No Profile". Thinking that my data would still be in the place the instructions said it would be (C:\documents and settings\[Chosen user name]) I went ahead with "No Profile". The recovery ran and the computer restarted, and Windows started up again as if it was the first time I'd ran the computer. So I created the two user accounts that had previously existed and then logged in with mine. A... Read more

You could try DivFixx++ from -  https://sourceforge.net/projects/divfixpp/

or DivXRepair from -  https://sourceforge.net/projects/divxrepair/

Both of these are free downloads. I cannot say how well they work because I haven't used them. Just install your choice using the 'Custom install' route and watch out for bundled software, using 'custom' usually gives you the chance not to install this stuff.

You could also try the VLC player, from Videolan.org, a very good free player if you don't have it and it can and does repair some types of damage to AVI files.

I have 2 problems, mine is recovering data from a DVD-R & a friend is looking for my help in recovering data from a "corrupted" Flash Drive.

I was burning data on a DVD-R multiple sessions disk when my Burner crapped out while using Nero. I now have a new Burner & when I go back into this disk I can only read data from my 1st session when I compare the #s from Nero's disk info tool, however it also shows that session 5 is still open?? but I cannot read anything from sessions 2, 3 & 4. Looking around I spotted CD Recovery Tool Box Free 1.1.7 is there anything more recent and or better that would let me try to recover the data on this disk. The data in session 5 is still on my HD but I would like to be able to recover the data in the other sessions, worst possible case even just the file names would be a small plus.

Now for the Flash Drive. It is a Lexar 8 Gig & what supposedly happened is that Peter lent it to a fellow employee so he could extract some data (probably a mistake). When he got it back a few minutes later & tried to use it all he got was a message that it was corrupted. As it has all of his product codes, phone numbers & personal sales data for the last year he is really desperate to try & recover the data. He does not have a computer of his own, so he has no backup (another bad idea). He has gotten a new Flash Drive a Sony 8 Gig, but I have told him that he better go out & get a 2nd one to use as a back... Read more

My WIn 7 as failed and I had to re install it, I thought that I was safe with my server backup, but some file where note saved.

I did try with some software like Recuva, R_Studio, Mareew Company but nothing came out

Do I still get some chance to recup my files?

Any help appreciated

A:Data & file recovery after Win7 re-installation

If the files were not saved in the server back-up then one can presume that they remained on the C drive without being saved.

If so then as the C drive has presumably been reformatted to reinstall Windows 7 and has been written upon by the Widows 7 files, it is now almost impossible to recover them.

I am sorry for conveying these bad tidings

A:Recovery The boot configuration data file is missing

Assuming either Vista or Windows 7, then THIS THREAD has the typical answer.  Of course you need a real install disk for Vista or Windows 7 or a repair disk.  You can borrow an install disk from someone and boot to the disk and pick repair instead of install.  As long as you do not try the install it will be fine.  Read the link. HP does not provide a disk, so that is your choice to find one.  Like I said, you can borrow one.

I have been working on this for YEARS, and still have not found a way to fix the file.

FACTS ABOUT THE FILE: I STILL can't repair this file... here are the details....

~ The file is from a camcorder using mini-dvd's, of my wedding. All other dvds work properly, this one doesn't play through the file.

~ The mini dvd is in physically working condition, and I have no problem copying the .vob file.

~ the .vob file is about 1gb

~ If I try playing it in any video player (tried many) it never gets past the first 2-3 seconds, and then freezes.

~ In VLC media player, it recognizes the video is 14:12 long... but still only plays the first 2-3 seconds.

I will do anything to get this fixed!

I uploaded the entire dvd to google drive.
HERE IS THE LINK
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6fIpo33hhIPTFViV1VVcVVxLTg&usp=sharing

The main file is VTS_01_1.VOB You can see it plays the first few seconds in VLC player, and then freaks out.

A:Vob file data/video recovery help!?! (link to files in thread)

Does the disc play properly in a DVD player or in the PC itself?

If not, the disc/files are toast. Depending on file type, basic file information such as length, is stored in the file header. So just because VLC knows the playtime, doesn't mean the file is useable.

Also, in my experience, if it doesn't play in VLC, 99.99999999% of the time, the file is toast.

having said that, I will take a look.

Hello,

I have run into a big problem on my External HDD. I can't access it, it tells me "The Disk Structure is Corrupt And Unreadable" After a bit of digging around I found out the Master File Table is corrupt. I've tried a few Data Recovery Programs over the last few days and I had a bit of success with Recuva. However, I have a way to many small files on that drive, ranging from textures copied 50 times in different folders from old Animation projects to final products. I a lot of my past work is on that drive and would be lost if I can't recover it. Recuva is good, but the structure of the hard drive is gone, it's a ridiculously long list of files and I can't know if it's important or not. Is there any way to recover my files in such a way I can see the folders? I would know which ones were important, and which ones weren't. and I did not have to waste days recovering an absurd amount of files I don't need and spend even more days trying to go through them all and find which ones I need to save.
Thank you for your time I hope someone can help!

I just did a 2 pass overwrite of my entire HDD using copywipe, but yet Easus is still finding over 60,000 + NTFS file records and near 4,000 files identified?

Why didn't the overwrite erase this data? I don't understand - I've been at this for a whole day now. I literally formatted, booted from a usb and ran copywipe, did a 2 pass overwrite, and reinstalled windows.

How do I get rid of these NTFS file records?

Edit: I just started to run Easus, and the numbers keep going up and up... WTF.

How long did it take CopyWipe to (allegedly) erase your HD? I can only guess that it simply didn't work as advertised.

I'm also a bit confused how you can be checking the drive for deleted data when you've already reinstalled Windows on it...

Evening folks. I've got a problem with my niece's laptop which I think is probably too far gone to resolve, but I'd appreciate any advice from you experts as to whether it really is the end of the line for the data. She contacted me a few days for advice as to whether her machine was totally broken as it she couldn't do anything with it, the screen was black and reporting disk failure etc. I asked whether she had experienced any other problems before this and she said it had shut down a few times due to overheating. At this point I assumed the black screen was a boot screen so something actually wrong with the HDD or config etc.I arranged to get hold of the laptop, and pretty quickly found that the disk failure etc messages were the result of the File Recovery virus and set about cleaning it up.Managed to boot in safe mode, but this didn't get past the little tinker as I couldn't browse to any security related sites. Just about managed to copy RKILL from usb drive, but couldn't copy or use any other tools from USB as it seemed to spot what I was up to so I had to resort to booting up from Kaspersky Rescue Disk on DVD.This ran okay, but very slow so I left it running overnight (after going back for a final check at midnight when it said it had about an hour left to run), and of course by the morning it had done a thermal shutdown. At 6:45am I wasn't at my brightest so I just booted it back up again. The hardest files for me to reproduce would be the dozens of psd files (Photoshop) into which I've sunk hundreds if not thousands of hours.

A:Recuva Data Recovery: "file's data could not be found..."

OK, the ability to recover any data is inversely proportional to operating the system. The longer the system is ON, the less chance you have of recovering data.

The very first thing to do is STOP using the system. Pull the hard drive out and connect it to a working system. Now run data recovery software. I would use multiple programs; recuva is just one of them. What one finds, the other may or may not find. If you do not have another system, you can boot your system with a linux live usb. At least windows would not be writing to the disk in question.

Hopefully this can be a lesson. Data you do not have multiple copies of is data you do not care about and you should expect to lose said data. Drives fail, accidents happen. With a current backup, it is a non-event.
Personally I make four copies of important data; two on internal drives, a third on a NAS, and a fourth on an external that is stored in a safe. Maybe overkill however it only takes once loosing important data to make you paranoid about backups.

So I'll try to give an exact account of what has happened.

85 GB of ISO files in a folder on my desktop.
I drag and drop the folder into an opened folder window. (this folder is futher in my /C)
New folder is created and a message says some files is in use and stops immediately.
Close program, delete partial folder created.
Message says files too large for recycle bin do you want to perm. delete them. Yes.
Drag and drop folder again, nothings there when I open it.
The whole process took no time at all. Never once did I see a status bar even blink on the screen. No waiting time whatsoever.

Here's the fun part.

My drive properites shows a 85 GB decrease in size and no .iso files show up in a search.
I tired one file recovery freeware program and only 8 of the iso's even showed up. All were "over written" and not recoverable. Restarted the computer. Ran it again, now no iso's show up.

I had a pretty knowledgeable programer help me through the above steps and they tried several options I can not describe, because they involved command prompt and other things I'm clueless about. Unfortunately Windows is not their hot subject, so suggestions are more than welcome.
Any ideas as to where the heck the files went? Is it worth it to try other recovery programs or will that just increase my chance of actually writing over the iso's?

Greetings,

I am new to these forums, but it seems to me this was a good place to go for perplexing questions such as the one I am posing. Google FTW!

Anyway, I recently had a Western Digital hard drive crash due to an unstable connection to the PC. I managed to fiddle round enough with it to where I can connect it to get data from it, though I don't trust the connection to last long. Said connection failure resulted in my having to format the drive in order to have windows properly read it.

I've managed to get a lot of the iportant audio I had stored on the drive using software called GetDataBack. There were a few files thad appeared to have been recovered but that were silent. GetDataBack showed me file sizes which told me said files had ovbiously been broken somehow, though I had copies of these elsewhere so I wasn't too worried.

When it came to retrieving my documents and text files, however, I encountered a very strange thing. GDB shows that all the file sizes are correct (at least on the one's I compared to copies I had floating around) but when I go to copy them and view the on another drive, said files appear to have no text. The file size once on the drive shows me 0KB.

Why would GDB show me the correct file sizes but copy over the same file that appears to be completely void of data? Why would audio files be more in tact than simple .doc and .txt files? Is there any way I can repair/recover these files or are they really devoid of data even ... Read more

Hi, I'm using recovery disks to recover Windows on my Lenovo G505 (the onekey recovery partition is corrupted). When I select either of the 2 recovery options using the disks I get the message "create recovery file (aodstat.dat) occurs an error" and I'm unable to proceed. Can anyone advise what this error means? The notebook is still under warranty. ThanksEd

Hi everyone..

My external USb Wd mybook box has 1 tb Seagate Sata 3 and i use original Wd disc as W7 installed... in My PC Case as sata II

Today my old problem appears again as Corrupted disc...
I have Get Data Back NTFS (and i used before plenty of times for recovery, loss data or unwanted deletions) but..

This time im stuck.. Becouse the disk i try to recover includes 870 gb (about) used disk space (only audio files) only 50gb (about) empty space... Thats too big for me to recover to other disks.. i don't have enough spaces that my other disks can handle..

I have about 300 gb FREE disk space in several disks or partitions include My thinkpad SL510 Notebook..
---------
So my question is
wit keeping my lost data in corrupted disk first, can i take them slowly to this 300 gb spaces (i know i can) and after create somehow emty space (deleting those recovered 300 gb + 50 on corrupted disk) and
use that empty space for more recovery. ???? Or smilar solutions.. Becouse DISC PRICES IS HEAVY nowadays and really i'm out of budget with buying some
equipments upgrades..
----------
IS THERE ANY PRACTICALLY POSSIBLE SOLUTION even can take very long time..
Like creating slowly slowly some extra spaces (don't know how)

I know i look silly in situation becouse i know u should never write to same disc if you dont want to say goodbye to your files..

E-how happened (not necessary to read these part)

according my experiences Thats the mistakes... DOn't do those at the same tim... Read more

Hi,

Before you write more data or attempt to read data from the drive through Windows, I would suggest using a Live CD like SysRescueCD to boot from and access the HDD.

hi
i have a scSi disk 36.4GB, i lost information from it and tried to recover with other recovery softwares to no avail finally i got winhex & got the professional licence.

i can now be able to see all the information on the 1 whole NTFS partition, but the problem is that i can't be able to recover it.
when ever i open the logical drive i can see all the information and most of the information is stack up in a "free space" which is around 33gb which i can be able to see has all the information that i need.
i have tried to recover the free space but its only copied to the location that i specify and no recoveries are made.
recovering the files by type/ name has bore no fruits.

a freind told me i have to curve out that area and use data extractors to get the information out of that area (freee space).

the information in that drive are sql data bases and zip files. whats the header for sql.

what techniques do i use to curve out that space and be abele to extract the information, for i can even read the information in text format.

which are the data extractors available in the market

kindly assist its quite urgent i get this information out

I don't know where this thread properly belongs -- but I suspect the question may be too esoteric for most here.

Since it involves data recovery from a hard drive I'm going to move it to Hardware, I think "all other software" is not likely to have anyone with this type of experience.

Dear Friends.
Hope this finds you well!
I'm not certain this is in the best forum, but it is a Windows 7 computer
I was trying to do another sets of DVD's from existing MP4 files from a SanDisk Ultra 32GB card. These would then be used with DVD Flick and ImgBurn to make the DVD's. The first(2) DVD's worked well but somehow a few of the files were not copied entirely. So, I was redoing these again to make certain I had ALL the files for the next (2) DVD's.
These are files my older brother entrusted to me for me to convert them to a DVD format. They are files of his daughters nearly entire basketball season [frames] of about 70 files and were sentimental to him and his daughter.
I feel personally responsible to correct this if it is at all possible!? It could get ugly
It was an honest error on my part as I mistakenly deleted what was titled Video 100 on the SanDisk which contained all these MP4 files. I didn't realize I was removing them from the SanDisk. I'm hoping there is a free date recovery app I could use for this one application so that an expensive license would not be required!?
Thank You in advance for your care, compassion and cooperation. I'm stuck in the mud...
Very Truly Yours,
Raphael

Minitool Power Data Recovery or Runtime Get Data Back, which

A:Minitool Power Data Recovery or Runtime Get Data Back, which

Hi

Both are good programs and i would recommend purchasing both ( if you can afford ). Both has it's own pros and cons.
"GetDataBack" is good at virtual reconstruction of damage/unrecognizable file systems but i personally found it weak at recovering image files. It recovers images but most of them seems to be corrupted in my testings. Also you need to purchase seperate versions for FAT and NTFS ( GetDataBack simple is garbage ).

On the other hand, "Power data Recovery" works with both FAT and NTFS and it is better at recovering image files. Another proven tools is "R-Studio" which has quiet good reputation among DR professionals. It's user interface is not newbie friendly but has lot's of options which no other tools offers.

I booted up my Win 7 computer today and ChkDsk said my Ex HDD may have been corrupted and proceeded to delete some files. Those were some very important files - how can I get them back? (Video and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 files)

I prefer free methods on this - I know I can buy software to do this, but I currently don't have the money. Or a very cheap method, if nothing else.

It's ironic that today was the day I was going to back up this drive.

Please help!

Hi,

I have been using a Kingston 1gb data traveler to store work however as I was saving my word document to go home Word 2007 crashed and restarted itself, it did not however bring up any autorecover options. I therefore thought everything was ok and pulled out the USB. When I tried to plug this in again it says 'USB device not recognized' This device may have malfunctioned etc. It then proceeds to install the USB as an unknown device and appear like this in the device manager.

I desperately need to recover this data, I was designing a website and had 25 pages of text on the USB stick.

What I've Tried

Plugging the USB in another machine. This bought up exactly the same error

Downloading a Data Doctor Recovery Pen Drive tool. This however did not recognise a USB as being in the system and thus did not work.

Is there anything I can do to rescue this data?

P.s. I use Vista 32-bit Business.

Hello,
i am pretty unskilled in terms of a pc so i really hope somebody can help me with this. If u need any further Information plz ask for it as i dont know what is needed to solve this problem.
I am also sry if i write some english explanations wrong as english is not my native language.

So what is my problem:
I had an old Laptop with i think windows vista. The laptop had 2 internal hard discs. On one there was the System Windows with other stuff, the second was just for Data. That laptop broke down some time ago but i opend it and kept both hard discs. At that time i wrote my thesis and stored most data on the first hard disc with the windows system on it.
Now i need those data as my thesis shall be publicated and i was so stupid not to store the data anywhere else.
So i bought some device with which i could plug the hard discs into the usb port of my new laptop.
The one hard disc with only data on it opened as planned but whenever i plug in the second hard disc i cant open it.
Now the disc management utility detects that hard drive but tells me that it is an dynamic drive and not an basic drive. When i looked that up on the internet i found out, that dynamic was used with windows vista.
Now my Pc tells me that i could convert that hard disc into a basic one but some data would be lost. I am a bit scared its right that data i essentially need.
I also tried to run Windows directly from the Hard disc so i can maybe get the data like that but i failed completly to even star... Read more

What is the best way to dod this? Thanks for your help! gogoavgirl

A:data recovery help

Hi gogoagirl, Welcome to TSF!

You have not mentioned whether the problem is with a desktop PC or a laptop; so for the moment we will guess that it is a desktop PC.
The best way to recover data from a suspect 'dead' or corrupt HDD is to 'slave' it inside another PC.
To do this, you will need to physically remove the HDD; change the jumper pins to 'Slave'; install it in the other PC, and you should then be able to access the data.
One piece of advice:...DO NOT attempt to transfer any of the Operating System (Windows?) files.
Once you have retrieved the data thats needed, replace the HDD back into its own PC and format it and prepare it for a reinstallation of Windows?.
What Brand of computer is this?...Different manufacturers have different methods for carrying out a format/installation..please advise us so that we can assist you further.

Kind Regards,

Hello..I am trying to retrieve data from a Seagate Barracuda 750gb 7200.12 using sata usb adapter. I believe their is a XP partition in there. I just need to get my sons football videos off it. I am using a Toshiba Satellite with windows 10. When I connect the Seagate it boggs down some things..especially Disk management. When I check the pc performance tab it shows the seagate hdd constantly running at 100%. I can hear it spinning all the time the power is on. Is the XP partiton causing it to do that? I need help. Thanks

A:Data recovery for old hdd..help

No it is not the XP partition causing your problem; it is the failing Seagate drive. You would do FAR better to be attempting this on a desktop PC with the drive connected as a second drive because the USB adapter screws up the native ATA commands. If the movies are valuable to you, you really need a third drive that works (1 terabyte drives are cheap, these days) and a physical cloning utility to create a complete copy so we can get away from the failing hardware.

In Computer>Users, do you see any User Account names starting with a full stop? If so, they may well contain your files and you could move them over to your new User Account folders. You might also Google for a utility called SpaceMonger and downoad it to find what is stored and where - look for the large blocks of data.
