Cannot play Flight Simulator X and cannot install Flight Simulator X: Acceleration expansion on windows 7 ultimate (x64)

Q: Cannot play Flight Simulator X and cannot install Flight Simulator X: Acceleration expansion on windows 7 ultimate (x64)

Hi guysI have been trying to install microsoft flight simulator x since yesterday and I was having errors all the time. (It was giving an error about Simconnect) and after doing some research, I resolved it by installing SDK and Simconnect manually, but now I have another problem...Whenever I click fsx.exe it says "This version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running. Check your system information to determine if you need 32 bit or 64 bit version of the file and contact the publisher of the software"Also, I cannot install Acceleration expansion pack. As I click "setup" it says "Flight Simulator X: Acceleration requires english version of Flight Simulator X" and it quits installation. By the way I already have the english version of the game.I am running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (x64). I have Nvidia Geforce GTX 260, Intel Core i5 750, 4GB of DDR3 1333 RAMI also use Norton Internet Security 2010I wish I can find a solution here.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

if you go to start/run/type dxdiag and press enter, display tab, are all three settings enabled, can you run the direct draw and direct 3d tests sucessfully

My problem is that since I got a new computer (my old on ran XPsp3 and I had no problems)and this one has Widows 7 I cannot seem to add new changes to the flight simulator "aircraft cfg" file which is located in the registery. Each time I get to the point where I want to make the change by saving it I get a notification that I am being DENIED. No reason is given. I am signed in as the Administrator but that doesn't help. This detracts from the Simulator as you cannot change the paint jobs of the planes from the default color. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?I would sure appreciate any suggestions. I installed FSX on my Windows 8 Developers Preview to see if it would work. When trying to open FSX after the installation, the splashscreen would appear and a few seconds later the infamous "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working" message would appear.

I went through the event log and the faulting module seems to be kernelbase.dll, which explains that FSX is not compatible with windows 8 out of the box. Has anyone managed to find a workaround for this?

Computer loaded with Windows 7 64-bit. Also loaded with Flight Simulator X by Microsoft. Formerly used Logitech Wingman Extreme, but learned it was not compatible with Windows 7, On advice from Logitech, got a Logitech Attack3 joystick. Operation of this device is marginally satisfactory. FIrst, there is NO rudder control, and working thru the various set-ups, can't find a way to make rudder wotk. Second, the joy stick does not rotate, but that is not a major problem. Third, the slide switch used for the throttle control has, in essence, two positions "IDLE" amd "FULL SPEED" with no engine speed control between the two extremes. Lastly, the device is extremelt sensitive.

Is there something I'm not doing? Is this not a proper device for the game? If not, what is recommended?

Why would you expect people in a Windows 7 forum to know if a game is compatible with Windows 10?
For any and all Windows 10 discussions you must post in the appropriate Windows 10 IT Pro forum.  Click on the link to go there.
This is a Windows 7 forum and Windows 7 does not have the same problems as Windows 10.  Therefore you must post in an appropriate Windows 10 IT Pro category

I am checking on this problem for a non-member so please bear with me. Has anyone had trouble with Windows 8 and Flight Simulator 2004? THE problem is this -- when we install FS2004 it seems to go in ok but when we try to create a flight and choose an aircraft the plane does not appear in the preview screen. The plane can be flown as normal but it just doesn't appear in the preview plane. Also , I installed some new planes downloaded from AVSIM.Com &/or Flight Sim.com, they doe not even appear in the airplane library. But if I go into the EXPLORER and open the airplane file the new planes that I installed are in the proper locations but do not appear in the library as mentioned
. I have uninstalled this program and reinstalled it at least a half dozen times but no change. Can anyone help with this problem. I cannot get the TSG Sysinfo at this time as the unit is approx. 100 miles away from my location at this time. I would appreciate any help I can get on this problem. I tried emailing Microsoft but cannot seem to get to the right location within their system. To contact them by phone is very costly so that's were I'm at.

A:Solved: Flight Simulator 2004 and Windows 8

There is a compatibility error with the Flight Simulator 2004 game.

Windows 8, being the latest in Windows genre of operating system requires latest softwares to run with.

The game is preety old and don't conform to the requirments of Windows8 compatibility.
Flight Sim X is compatible

The only chance for 2004 is as below but I do not think it will work

There is a feature built in every Windows which is Backward Compatibility, which helps newer windows to run older programs but the Flight Simulator is too old.
Try to run the game in compatibility mode,
Right Click on the Game Icon and from the menu select Run in compatibility mode, and select Windows previous versions mask. If this method fails, you are back to FS X

I'm open to some thoughts on this one. I just installed Flight Simulator 2004 on Windows XP and have not gotten very far into it.
Running the "getting started" video clips plays the audio but only an abstract visualization graphic from within Flight Simulator. The "getting started" clips are present and in fact I can play them individually from within Windows Media Player -- and see the video and sound -- they just don't produce any video from within the game program itself.

More then likely the reason your Flight simulator isnt working correctly is due to a recent update that kinda goofed up the Realtek Audio Controllers. Here is the info at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925902 If that is the error you are getting at startup run that.

Hello all

I had problems installing this program until I downloaded new drivers... then it worked fine.

I have purchased the Pro Flight Yoke System and I don't have a clue what to do with all of these controls.
I mean is there a model to follow how most flight sim junkies program these controls?
In addition...
Is it just me or is every rookie 'white knuckled' attempting to control this simulator with the yoke?
My fingers are numb after I fly a mission... and sometimes lucky enough to land.

Also, getting to know where I am in relation to the runway is another frustration, let alone landing.

Sure to be not alone in the beginning attempts at a new diversion.

On another note--In speaking with a PC tech today he mentioned that Microsoft is scrapping Vista.
Too many problems.
I don't like it. In my opion XP was much better.

If Microsoft does let it go, does anyone think they will send the new program to all duped Vista users?

Thanks for reading my thoughts.

HI everyone... This is my first post on the site, so please feel free to provide any hints that will help me fit in and be a productive member.

Now my question... I recentley purchased the subject game and after installation, I get a message that tells me my video configuration is not supported (or something like that, it's been a while since I tried it). The recommendation was to install the latest drivers for the graphics card. Well I've done all that and still no joy.

Now don't laugh... my system is a Dell XPS R400 P2, 400mhz. I have an ATI Radeon 7500 64mb AGP graphics card and 384mb SDRAM installed. The card is rated AGP 4X and according to the system requirements on the box, my system should work. I also have the latest chip drivers for the mobo (had to do that when I installed the graphics card)

I already have CFS 1 and 2 and they work just fine (probably irrelavent). Any help would be appreciated.

Horrible Lag in Flight Simulator FS9

I've been on PROPS Racing at WestCoastATC for close to a year now with no problems.
This is online flying of P-51 Mustangs where 10-15 pilots follow a pace plane over a course
and then we dive to the track to race around several pylons.

For some reason, for the past 3 weeks, in every session I now have this horrible lag.
The game itself never lags, just the other players.

When following the pace plan as well as observing other players, the plans appear and
disappear, then reappear in different places as though I pause for a second at a time.
I've always enjoyed a flawless game except for one fellow who is on dial-up and he shows
lag to the rest of us all the time.

It doesn't effect my frame rates, which if I set to unlimited I get
about 150 fps. My connection speed is 3,000 kbps. My upload is about 300 kbps.

I switched cable modems, same thing. I switched Ethernet cards, same thing. I
uninstalled FS9 and reinstalled in new directory-new location
on my hard drive. Checked for spyware with several different
programs, checked for viruses with several different programs.
Clean as a whistle. Defragged, cleaned up and polished everything
I can think of. Same thing, horrible lag.
