I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I don't necessesarily need a docking station, but if it only costs a little more than other solutions to drive 2 monitors then I might as well get a docking station. What should I look for?  I see there is a Lenovo part I can get (0A33970) used for $60-$70.Whatever I get I'd want it to be generic enough to use with other laptops I use. The other laptop I'd want to use it with also has a Thundrebolt port if that makes a difference.  But I think I'd rather have a USB3.0 solution since Thunderbolt is Intel only and I can foresee some AMD Ryzen in my future. So that Lenovo 0A33970 is a USB3.0 docking station.  Does anyone know if this would work with other devices than Lenovo?  I'm especially curious about the gigabit ethernet port... is this a real network adapter itself over USB or does it somehow do passthrough to the existing network interface on the laptop? I'm open to non-lenovo solutions as well.

I have a user with a Thinkpad T460 (20FN003FUS) and a LenovoThinkpad Ultra Dock. We are using two external monitors: one going out from the VGA port of the docking station and one going out from the DisplayPort port and going through a DisplayPort - VGA adapter. The system worked fine at first. I had three displays: 1 being the laptop display and 2 and 3 being the dual monitors. The problem we're having is that when she undocks and redocks the laptop, both external monitors show in ScreenResolution as "Disconnected." If I change the multiple displays setting to "extend" I get an error message. If I undock the laptop, reboot it and then redock it, I can extend the displays, but it will stop working after the nextundock-redock cycle.I noticed the Lenovo has it's own multiple dispay management application. Should I be using that instead of Windows own native application?Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering buying a docking station to go with my T480 but I'm not certain what solution is best for me.I want to connect two monitors, one runs [email protected] (VGA or DVI) and the other [email protected] (VGA or HDMI). Initially I was considering the 'ThinkPad USB-C-dockingstation (40A90090EU)' and use the VGA plus one of the DP ports with an adapter. However, when I was reading the display configuration options for this dock I came to the conclusion that this does not seem to be possible. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#USB-C%20dock) Browsing through the forum the second best option appears to be the 'ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock (40AC, 40AC0135XX)'. The advantage is that it supports higher resolutions and direct HDMI connectivity. What I read from the display configuration options my configuration should not be an issue. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#thunderbolt)However, I cannot confirm that this dock is compatible with a T480. I think it should be as the T480 manual lists one of the USB-C connectors on the left as Thunderbolt-3 compatible. Does anyone have experience with this combination of hardware or otherwise can someone confirm this solution is going to work? The docks are just to expensive for just giving it a try in my opinion.

Hi Can anyone tell me whether the Elitebook 2540p notebook or 2740p tablet can support dual monitors simultaneosly when used with a docking station I would assume that one monitor would be driven from the VGA socket, the other from DisplayPort If so, what range of screen resolutions are supported? I am looking to buying one of these models, but I need to know if this functionality is supported. ThanksJohn

A:Dual external monitor support with docking station on EliteB...

From HP: The key with supporting dual-monitors at the same time is that it requires that the notebook have dedicated graphics in there - which is not an option in the 2540p.  The first and smallest notebook to support this in the EliteBook line is the 14.0" 8440p - or we could look to the ProBook 6450b as another option too now. In a nutshell HP is being cheap or complacent.  I don?t get why they are sticking with Intel?s castrated graphics solution and why on the docking stations that do have deticated video like the fore mentioned 8440p they don?t enable 2 DVI-I (that?s Analog + DualLink Digital) instead of a single DVI-D and VGA. And the thing that really annoys me is that the intel intregated chip is capable of doing according to Intel own docs. AMD?s fusion can not come soon enough IMO.

The DVI/Display port acts like it is not connected to a monitor or anything. When you go to Control Panel > Display > Change Display setting > you see that the laptop is set to mirror what the 1st Monitor has, then on the second monitor if you look at "Multiple displays" you see that it says "Disconnect the display".  When I change it to  "Extend desktop to this display" Then hit Apply and yes, I get all 2 Monitors working which is good, I can restart/shutdown the laptop and I will get 2 monitors. This is not something we want to do every time I dock my laptop. The next problem that relates to the problem above is when we undock the laptop and it falls asleep for 20 minutes or more we come back to the first problem which is when we dock the laptop to turn it on the lid open or close it still only displays one monitor which is the VGA. We have tried numerous number of things and everything that we have tried doesnt seem to be working so i... no replies...So does that mean there isn't one?that is a bit of a downer. Also, with regards to the max. resolution, surely that is a much more important feature to document on a laptop's specifications page, unlike rubbish like "onekey recovery", or the fact that it comes preloaded with a lot of bloatware like Accuweather.I assume that the lack of a display port will limit the direct connection to HDMI's maximum resolution of 1920x1200.Thus, the question about docking stations (or other USB 3 gadgets) that can support a larger resolution.

Okay I am about to clone a '250GB Samsung 840 Evo' SSD (with OS on (Win. 8.1)) to another identical '250GB Samsung 840 Evo' using a dual docking station that has a clone feature. The docking station is the 'Coltech CE-606CU3'.

The reason I am doing this is because I have just built a new system which powers off randomly as trying to boot (approx. 1/10 times). I have tested RAM, changed PSU, made sure drive has latest firmware, updated BIOS and checked through the BIOS settings (amongst other things). I have also checked the health of the drive with 'Samsung Magician' (software that comes with the drive) and 'CrystalDiskInfo' which both say it is fine. When I disconnect the drive though the problem ceases. In both cases (connected/disconnected) the mobo successfully posts. For these reasons I have determined that it is probably the drive so have sent off for a replacement (from Amazon). As I don't want have to re-install and re-build the OS again (as this would be the third time) I was just going to clone it (using the docking station) to the new drive before I sent it back.

The instructions for the docking station are also less than helpful. They are a little fold out leaflet that say 'press clone button to clone' and 'make sure the target drive is the same or larger than source drive' with little else. I have not been able to find any online manuals for it either.

Which leads me on to my question, ... Read more

I have been using a T60 (1951-A31) with a full docking station (2505) with both video ports in use.  It worked fine. I have since upgraded to a T400 (6474-U11).  Physically it fits and powers up with no issue.  Originally it contained two 1Gb So-Dimm sticks of ram (PC3-8500s).  I have since tried to upgrade the ram to a stick of 2Gb and a stick of 4Gb (PC3-10600).  If I leave a single stick in place I have no problems.  when I try to include 2 sticks of the new ram, I get a horizontal "shredding" effect on the back ground, the icons, and any windows I open.  I atempted to use one new and one original memory stick but ended up with the same problem. I have tried using a second identical docking station, but with the same results.  I can confirm that the T60 has no issues with either docking station.  The T400, by itself, with a monitor connected to the VGA port on the side has no video issues.  I have done a remove/reinstall of the video drivers.  I am one version back on the BIOS with no way of upgrading until I get a replacement battery. Would anyone have a suggestion on how to clean this up, other than sticking to a single stick of ram? Thanks, butterball

I'm looking at replacing my desktop PC with a laptop & docking station. This is for combined small business and personal use. I thought I needed 16 GB RAM but after some reading, I wonder if it might be overkill. Here is what I often have open all at once: MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, File Explorer, Edge (with up to 20 tabs), Chrome (with possibly another 5-10 tabs). I don't edit videos or photos, use CAD or use the computer for games, so I thought 8 GB might be plenty, but I've been reading that if you like to keep 30 tabs open on a browser, 16 GB is better. I often keep at least 15 open along with several MS Office apps at the same time. I've read that the RAM in the Yoga 920 cannot be upgraded. Should I spend the extra $ for 16 GB from the start? Second question, I want to use a docking station to connect the Yoga to 2 external monitors. One is older and only has a VGA cable. The other has optional VGA or HDMI cable connections. Can someone recommend a docking station that would be suitable? Thanks.

A:Yoga 920 - help choosing RAM, docking station

The RAM on the 920 is soldered in, so it's not something you can upgrade. I've always gone for the most I can get as I expect these things to last a few years and each new update to software seems to require more and more resources from the computer. So, better to have more than you need now than kick yourself later. That's MY credo.

As far as I know, Lenovo currently doesn't offer a USB Type C docking station for the Yoga 900. As you can't charge the Yoga 900 using the USB Type C port, you have to plug in two cables anyway. You might consider buying this adapter by Dell: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Adapter-Type-Ethernet-470-ABQN/dp/B012DT6KW2 Unfortunately, it only has one USB 3.0 port, but it offers one HDMI, one VGA and one Ethernet port as desired.

Another post says to connect both to the DVI output, then manually configure the monitors to the DVI input using the monitors menu system. (Not the "Auto Detect" ), then with both monitors powered up, dock the laptop. I am trying this tomorrow.
Once the dual monitors are up and running, open the windows Display properties, select the NVIDIA tab, go to the NVIDIA console and setup your configuration as desired. Exit the console, then the Windows Display properties, and it should hold the configuration.

Hi, Thanks for joining the Forums today! While using your 8570w monitor, when connected to a docking station (we tested this using an advanced docking station ) there are two valid setups to get three independent screens. You could connect two extra monitors through DVI or just one monitor through DVI and another through Display port. This is using the advanced docking station. If one of your monitors is VGA it still should work the same as above. Here is a link to a picture of an adaptor you can use to connect via Display port: http://img.misco.eu/resources/images/products//100/HWP/FH/FH973AT/FH973AT_6_1600x1600.jpg Let us know if you need further assistance.  Thank you,

I am planning to buy a Tiny series desktop from Lenovo. This will be my at home stationary workstation.2. The link above is my mobile laptop as I commute in and out of NYC I need a powerful docking station which can take both the Tiny and the Yoga at the same time. Ideally, the tiny stays put forever and the yoga gets plugged in and out. And I am planning to deploy three monitors or if it is too complex, two.  So when both laptop and tiny desktop are docked, I want to be able to share the mouse, keyboard and the dual/triad monitors between both devices. I'm assuming there is a control which helps you shift from one device to another. Please recommend a docking station for this.

Many available in the market but dont want to purchase if it wont work. This particular laptop lacks in ports (I didnt think to look before I bought it) and have been struggling to get even one external monitor connected since most monitors being sold are either standard HDMI, not the mini hdmi port on this laptop. I have a copy station which takes two hard drives and have found it easy to use and reliable. The only drawback I've noticed concerns the relative sizes of the two drives. There's no problem copying from a small hard drive to a larger or equal sized SSD drive. You can then use software to rearrange and resize partitions. However, if you have a large hard drive and want to copy to a smaller SSD drive it's not possible. Mind you it is a few years since I bought my copy station so that may have changed.

This clients T440 laptop is on a docking station, connected to dual monitors. The first display connection is straight VGA. The second is DVI from the monitor connected to DP adapter to the docking station. The user can't logon without raising the laptop lid and logging on with the laptop open. If closed during boot up, the displays will not come on. I've updated all systems. Updated firmware on docking station. Updated the graphics adapter. Yet, if the user anticipates the boot up process and logs on without seeing what's even on the laptop screen, the monitors will eventually come on after windows loads. Any ideas out there to fix?

Morning All,  I've got an Elitebook 2740 which I use mostly on a WA994AV docking station.  My primary monitor is the 12" screen on the laptop and I have a second monitor connected to the docking station which is monitor 2. What I'd like to know (before I purchase a second screen), is if I can buy a VGA splitter, connect that to my docking station and run two external monitors from the docking station.  I find the 12" screen fine when travelling, but when working from home and need to use two screens I constatnly find myself dragging items onto the external monitor to work on due to it's larger size.  If the docking station will support two external monitors (or even 3 with the laptop lid openned) it would make my life a lot easier.  If anyone can tell me if this is posible it'd be great thanks.  ALso, if there's a way top permanently set it so that the external monitor(s) are set to Extend desktop when I start the laptop it would be great. Currently Windows 10 (64 bit) will start with extended desktop, then after about 30-60 seconds it will flip over to duplicating the laptop display onto the external monitor and I have to change the display outputs everytime.

I have Toshiba Tecra in a docking station but can't get the BenQ monitor attached to the docking station to display. The plug in monitor displays OK at boot-up but as soon as the PC is booted up the plug in monitor drops out (No signal mesage) and the Tochiba screen kicks in.

Any help out there on fixing this problem ?
