L380 Yoga - Swapped trackpoint axis with portrait external display

Q: L380 Yoga - Swapped trackpoint axis with portrait external display

Hi,I have a L380 Yoga 20M7-001BMH with ELAN trackpoint which exhibits the same behavior as described on another forum: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=126939 The trackpad works correctly regardless of scenario, the trackpoint scrolling works correctly regardless of scenario, however, the trackpoint cursor has its axis swapped when I'm using a secondary screen in portrait orientation with "second display only" mode. More specifically, the X and Y axis are interchanged, acting as if the screen orientation was landscape. I'm assuming this behavior is due to the assumption that the primary display of the laptop will always be in landscape mode, and when connecting only an external display, it's percieved as the primary. I have Windows 10 with all updates installed, as well as all updates installed through Lenovo Vantage. The issue is present both with a display connected through a Dell D6000 dock as well as displays connected through HDMI.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

As stated in the title my Trackpoint is causing my cursor to drift to the right side of the screen. It only does this whenever I physically pick up the laptop or bend the right corner of the palmrest. I've tried to rule out any software related issues by updating the OS to the latest Windows Build, updating BIOS to 1.13, drivers for UltraNav. Once I realized none of this worked I rolled the BIOS back to 1.12 and restored the unit but it is still happening. If I turn off the Trackpoint in Control Panel -> Mouse the issue stops. I do not remember this happening when I first opened it. Any idea as to what is causing it? Thanks!

Hi there,I'm using 'Lenovo L380 Yoga' that is running on Windows 10 Pro version 1903 build 18362.207 x64 and I found an issue/bug which triggers the held down Ctrl key in tablet mode (until you flip it back to laptop mode and hit Ctrl again) and occurs only when you enable the fn/ctrl swap function. These are the steps to reproduce the issue:1. Enable the 'swap Fn and Ctrl keys' through Lenovo Vantage (using v4.27.32.0) or BIOS2. Flip the laptop into tent or stand form only (for some reason you won't be able to reproduce this if you flip and fold the laptop all the way flat into tablet mode, make sure the OS turns into tablet mode)3. Make sure you have rotated the laptop into a tent/stand and you're in tablet mode, then physically click the keyboard button to trigger a Ctrl keypress (since we have swapped Fn-and-Ctrl, you should click the Fn button to trigger Ctrl keypress)4. This should be triggering Ctrl key that is constantly held down. To test, simply open a browser, touch the address bar, from the virtual touch keyboard touch the letter "t" and it would open a new tab without holding/clicking the ctrl key.You can trigger key release by touching Ctrl through the virtual touch keyboard two times or switch back to laptop mode and press the Fn button to trigger Ctrl keypress and keyrelease to prevent constantly held down Ctrl key bug.Are there any solutions to this besides not switching the fn and ctrl key?Regards.

I have a W540 with Nvidia Quadro K1200M with Windows7. The external monitor is connected to the display port on the dock. Advanced is configured for display in BIOS. When I go into Windows to set screen orientation, it only lets me select that for the mobile display - it is greyed out for the external display (HP E232). If I select Extend These Displays, then the mobile display goes into Portrait but external monitor is black. Othewise external display does not work at all. How can i make the external display work (Extend these displays) and have it set to Portrait?

I have just received 3 days ago my Thinkpad L380 Yoga and the display blinks regularly since out of the box. It goes blank for half a second, is quite anoying being a brand new product. Is this an anomaly (defect) or something in all units to be fixed by LENOVO? Just to know if ask for a replacement or just wait for a BIOS update.

As the title states I've recently started experiencing various tears, glitches and signal losses on my external displays when trying to work on my work laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad L380 Yoga, video here). The issues got bad enough to render external monitor work impossible. The things I have tried to narrow down / eliminate the problem: - two different external monitors - tried different HDMI cables, conected both to:   - laptop's own HDMI port   - HDMI port of a USB-C dock - a VGA connector (through dock) - different OS (Windows 10, and Ubuntu 18.04) - double checked the graphics drivers, chipset drivers and BIOS are updated to their latest versions as per Lenovo's website - attempted to do a clean Windows install - set various refresh rates and modes for the external displaysNone of those measures managed to eliminate the problem. I suspect the issue lies somewhere in the chipset itself, or the video card hardware. Unfortunately the laptop is out of warranty, and currently we have no replacemetns available at work so I would like to elliminate all alternatives before we send it out to repair. What else can I try?

Hi all,Recently, one of my friends bought a ThinkPad L380 laptop. I would say the internal speaker has improved. The bass goes deeper and treble is more extended compared to the older model
To tweak the sound:1. Right-click the photo below, save as Desktop. You may try both to see which EQ you prefer.

2. Go to Start > All Apps (All Programs) > Dolby > Dolby Audio.

3. Drag it onto the Dolby Atmos application.Do take note that if you were to connect your external speaker/headphone to the headphone jack, change the EQ to others, or off. As this EQ preset is only optimized for L380, L380 Yoga, S2 and S2 Yoga Speakers, not optimized for your external speaker/headphone.Hope you enjoy this tweaks!

I have a Toshiba M700 Tablet PC, and I use the tablet feature quite a bit for school. One day, the portrait mode inverted, so when I'm in one corner of the screen, it will be in another and such. It's impossible to write that way, obviously. But, landscape mode works fine. Also, I'd like to note that when I flip my laptop to portrait mode, the cursor changes back to the normal mouse cursor instead of the tablet one, and doesn't go back to the normal tablet one until I restart. I re-installed the tablet drivers but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

P.S.: My display drivers are Inel 965 Express Chipset family

My tablet drivers are Wacom Penabled drivers (for pressure sensitivity), and the Toshiba M700 Tablet PC Drivers

I'm using a USB-C to HDMI adapter (using the DisplayPort over USB standard, not an older DisplayLink type) to use an external display on the Yoga 730 and it has issues when running as 2 separate displays (everything works fine when mirroring or using only the external display). If you set the graphics settings to "extend these displays" the Windows 10 shell seems to wedge itself (can interact with already running apps, but cannot start new apps or use the taskbar/start menu) and the bottom of each display flickers (looks like a flickering ghost taskbar). I don't suspect a hardware issue with the adapter because it works perfectly in mirroring or single-display mode; instead I suspect a graphics driver bug. Others that use this adapter on other PCs have no problems. I'd love to try a newer version of the Intel 620 graphics driver but it won't install (it says it's incompatible with this system and to contact the computer manufacturer)... Lenovo's customized version of the driver is 4 months old. I have all the latest drivers installed via Lenovo Vantage, Intel's web interface (it only installed newer Wifi and Bluetooth drivers), and Windows Update. The laptop is running Windows 10 1803 17134.112 (2018 Creator's update).

Hey guys, I recently purchased a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for an external display monitor with my Yoga 3 Pro however after connecting the laptop to the external display, I receive a 'No Signal' message on the external display. When the cable is not plugged into the external display, it says 'Check Signal Cable' therefore I know the external display can recognize when it is plugged into the laptop. I have read other forums regarding cutting back the plastic on the micro hdmi cable for further extension of the male end into the micro hdmi port however continue to experience 'No Signal' messages. Also in my display settings the laptop will not detect another monitor and graphics properties states there is only the single laptop display. Any suggestions will help, thanks!

Hi,  Can someone from Lenovo officially confirm or someone who has bought this laptop test this and confirm, can the new Yoga 900 output 4k resolution @ 60hz to an external monitor, such as Dell P2715Q?  What I see in the specs, it has Intel HD 520, and the spec sheet says DisplayPort 1.2 via USB-C can drive4096x2304 @60Hz However, there's no confirmation anywhere of this, neither from Lenovo, nor from users. Most USB-C to DP cable makers haven't tested this yet.  I'm seriously considering the new Yoga 900 as a replacement for my T410. Main use is business and photo editing, and looks like an awesome laptop. The ability to hook up 1 external monitor at 4k @60hz is critical for me, otherwise, it's a Dell XPS 13. Thanks in advance,Vele

This screen should be able to provide WQHD 2560 x 1440 pixel but max I can choose in the set up (Win 10) is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel. I did the full program; 1. deleting drivers (Graphic and Monitor) reinstalled newest versions provided from Lenovo/Dell website,2. tried 3 different cables (HDMI and DVI), no differences :-(3. Installed Dell SetUp tool4. Installed intel set up tool (Could enter the high resolution manually here as personal setting, but does not work either) Nothing helped :-( screent stays on 1920 x 1080 :-( This 27" screen was running connected to a MacBook Pro without any problem in max. resolution 2560 x 1440 before.  Due to my research the Intel HD 5300 should be able to handle 2560 x 1440. Looking forward to helpful repliesDennis

So I had to do a restore on my Yoga Book, Windows 10. Just noticed that when I hold it vertically like a tablet (portrait mode), the touches do not register in their correct positions (if I touch the upper left corner, it registers on the right side near the middle). When it's used as a laptop or tablet in landscape mode, the touches register fine and in their correct positions. What could possibly be causing this issue?

hi, I just upgraded from an X1 carbon to an X1 yoga with OLED screen. I connect to a Dell U3415W monitor and use extend display. The display quality on the laptop is outstanding but when I connect to the montior it isn't very sharp. I'm running monitor resolution on 3440x1440, and using HDMI cable. I had no issue when using the X1 carbon.I've updated display drivers. Any ideas? thanks

I'm using Lenovo ThinkPad W540, which has an integrated camera. The issue with it is, that I'm also using external screens, connected via a docking station, and those screens are set to portrait (rotated) orientation. This, for some reason, causes the camera image to also be rotated, so it's sideways, preventing normal use of the camera. This is probably a buggy feature of the camera driver, which was probably meant to help, when you rotate your main screen (with the camera attached), so you do not look sideways when camera is on, at this position.
