DirectX install error - An internal system error occurred.

Q: DirectX install error - An internal system error occurred.

I recently re-installed windows and am now trying to install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error:
I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Preferred Solution: DirectX install error - An internal system error occurred.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Welcome to Seven Forums callumshell1. The 1st thing I would suggest would be to run the System Files Checker.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

See if it finds and corrects any errors. Also, see if you locate the 2 dx logs mentioned, in the windows directory, and post them here, or just the text if they are short, which they may well be.

I recently bought a new computer, and when I tried to install DirectX I received the following error message "An internal system error occurred". I tried using both the web installer and the june 2010 redist. Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

A:DirectX an internal system error occurred

Might i first say, Welcome to the Forums!

Now than, there's one of your problems zer01717, DirectX can easily be installed when you first install a game. You do not need to manually download it to install it. If the problem is internal, than the problem is that your computer is still installing everything from after start up. I don't know how to fix this, but someone else on the forums might be able to help. All I'm saying is that you might just need to wait for a few days BEFORE installing it. Did you also install WinRAR when you got it?

Hi, i was having with playing games where it keep auto closing it and saying the exe has stopped working. so i tried installing directx 9 and this message popped up saying" an internal error has occurred. Please refer to the Dxerror.log and directx.log file to determine the problem"

Please help me with this.

A:Installing Directx "An Internal Error has occurred"

How are you trying to install? Via the web installer, or the stand alone complete installer? Suggest the stand alone installer. Make sure to run it as administrator. Some have had to turn UAC off while installing.

Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Official Microsoft Download Center

Hope I'm posting this in the right forum.

I recently had to reinstall windows onto my laptop and I haven't had any problems with windows or anything. Then recently while trying to install a game (FFXIV OPEN BETA) it kept asking me to upgrade my directx. When I would click "Yes" the directx installer would boot up and give me a "An internal system error. Please refer to DXError.log and Directx.log in your windows folder to determine problem."

First problem I have is that I have no DXError.log or DirectX.log anywhere in my windows folder.

Second I've searched google and other forums for some help and I've tried the sfc/scannow in command prompt which found no problems. I've also tried putting in my vista CD and tried a repair on windows which also found no problem.

Here's my dxdiag hopefully this is useful. Thanks for the help

Hello,

I recently installed a game (Total War ROME II) in which has been installed DIRECTX (although I already have DIRECTX 11 installed and updated), but the DIRECTX installation failed while I get the following error: An internal system error
occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows

The game does not work when I try to run it I think maybe that's why he does not work.
(I tried to install the game on another computer in which he does work and there was not a problem during the installation of DIRECTX)

I tried download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and it says I have a newer or equivalent version of directx so no installation is necessary...

And now another game that worked just fine a week ago is giving me "0xc000007b Application Error " while trying to run it probably because of the the many solutions I tryied around the directx problem...

Already ran the sfc / scannow in the CMD to search for corrupted files but the result came out positive and there is no corrupted files.

This is what exists in the regedit now:

Since I've been back (and even after deleting those programs) when I'm at msn.com via Internet Explorer I can no longer access my work email site. I use a Motorola Cable Modem.

When the worksite email page tries to load it shows the following message (in two separate boxes the full text appears twice): Microsoft Internet Explorer - An internal server error occurred.
I also receive an error with the error box showing--OdHost--CoCreateInstance failed Status is 0x80040154.

I need any help that can be provided, and I don't know if these errors are connected.

Thank you

Don't you hate it when you loan your computer to someone and they install crap like the weather bug!! I'd go into the network applet, remove any dial-up protocols installed by AOL, and make sure my internet settings for TCP/IP are set correctly to automatic detection.

G'day
I am running Windows XP professional Service pack 1. I had been running several servers on the machine and had not installed SP2 before (mainly because I was lazy and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get them runnin on SP2).
-Scanrouter V2 professional
-FlexLM autocad licencing server
-APC Powercute Business edition
-Ricoh ESA transformer

I have bought a windows 2003 server and moved all the servers over and then tried to install SP2 on the XP machine.
Installation seems to go fine and finishes and when i restart i get an error popup before the login screen - lsass.exe -system error An internal error has occurred in RPC.
I click ok and computer restarts.
I have to run a SP1 repair install and restore system state data to get the computer running again.
I have posted this topic on experts-exchange where I got some very good advice but was still unable to solve the problem and decided to reinstall from scratch.
That's where the laziness kicked in again and I really don't want to go through the hassle of setting up everything from scratch since I use this machine to manage a network
of 40 computers and 5 servers.
Things I have already tried
-Scanned with adaware , spybot, stinger, malwarebits, panda online, trend housecall, avg8 - some problems found and fixed
-Run SP2 from safe mode
-Run subinacl to reset registry permissions
-Updated directly to SP3
-Reinstalled MSDTC

Does anyone have any ideas on what i can try.

I had to do a system recovery on my PC. Got it back up, got the drivers I needed re-installed, updated the Microsoft software from the MS website etc..

I am using Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)
When I try to open Media Player (10) it gives me a message "An internal application error has occurred"
I went to Control Panel, Add/Remove Program, clicked show updates, Add/Remove Windows components and unclicked WMP to uninstall it.
Reinstalled it the same way and no difference.

Also found the advice on restoring the dll and it doesnt work!
Any help would be nice. I don't really want WMP 10 I prefer and want WMP 9 as it seems to work better. So how do I get rid of this endless loop that I have got myself into?

I did not reformat the drive when I did a recovery. (Non-destructive recovery is what I opted for) I am using an HP a1100y and have also found no help from their phone support and their website.

A:Media Player 10 "An Internal Application Error Has Occurred"

If the system came with WMP 10, I don't believe that you can use WMP 9.See comment at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...es/default.aspx for XP users.I would actually move up to WMP 11.Louis

Hi all,

I'm trying to restore Windows Vista from a backup, but it's not working. I get the error "An internal error has occurred while enumerating backup sets". I've tried using a Windows 7 repair disk, and that at least identifies the backup. The Vista disk, however, doesn't. I have other backups on the external hard drive that I'm using (all for Windows 7), so could that be the problem?

This is what I get when I select "Windows Complete PC Restore" on the Windows Vista repair disk:
http://imgur.com/IT9XP6r
This is what I get when I select the backup I'm looking for, but on a Windows 7 repair disk:

Is there something I can do to get past this error? Or is there some other software that I can use to restore this backup?

"An internal error occurred in the Microsoft Internet extensions"

This cute little errormessage is causing me trouble.

Background:

I have a small application that fetches a index-file from a FTP-server. I have written the software myself and it works on 13 diffrent computersetups around Sweden. But on one special computer it wont work?

On that one computer you can use Internet Explorer and Explorer to reach the FTP-server and fetch the file so the FTP-protocol works on the computer and in that network. My software works on 13 other places so the software is tested and works. BUT on the one system the software can connect to the FTP and login but when trying to fetch the indexfile all I get is the above errormessage.
Does anyone recognies it or does anyone have an idea on how to attack the problem?

We have tried to reboot the system with out any luck.

I turned on my PC today for the first time in maybe 6mo, slow to boot up but that's expected. Got maybe ten minutes into using it (just fine, might I add. Linked to wifi, etc) and Norton popped up needing to restart the computer. Hit restart now, ten minutes
go by, PC is still trying to shut down. Black screen but the fan is running. I shut it off completely, push the power button again, and get the disc error. Try to restart twice with CtrlAltDel but same error. Finally soft reset (or try to, no indication that
holding the power button does anything) and then got the "Error loading operating system" screen. Now depending on how I restart it (trying to boot from the BIOS menu or boot menu) I get the disc read error but eventually come back to the OS error.

Nothing can get me into the system, period. I'm doing this from a secondary non-PC device. Any help is appreciated. I can get by on software fixes but I'm completely useless with hardware so all of the quick fix tips I've vaguely read have mentioned removing
things from the actual console which I'm hoping I won't have to do.
Please help thanks

I've been having this issue for awhile now. Whenever I launch a Steam game such as DotA 2, it keeps installing DirectX for me. Usually takes about a minute before the windows goes away. To bypass this issue I just close the window and relaunch the game and viola! the game launches.

So I've just bought XCom: Enemy Unknown and I cannot launch the game for the life of me.

I've ran the VCRedist installer inside the XCom folder without issue, however the DirectX Installer stated that "An Internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem" and the installation fails.

All I see in the DXError.log is this

Before i begin describing my problem, things i have already tried:
- using the web install
- using the standalone install
- editing my registry key as shown here /watch?v=lRq1-qUyvXk

I am trying to update my direct x to version 9.0c
I need it to play Planetside 2 but the installation process fails stating that an internal system error occured and that i should check the log files for more info.

When I try to connect with the wireless network through Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless, the following error message appears:
"An internal database error occurred when saving/updating the profile"

I tried roll back and re-installing the drivers but none worked...

the spec is,

Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

let me know if you guys got any idea with this problem...

thanks a lot guys.

A:"An internal database error occurred when saving/updating the profile"

Dear Animex:

I had exactly the same problem, with the same hardware. This is how I fixed it.

01. Take a System Restore.
02. Use Add/Remove programs to remove Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software.
03. Rename C:\Program Files\Intel to C:\Program Files\Intel-Old.
04. Reinstall the software. I downloaded the latest version, 11.1.1.11.
05. Reboot when asked to.

Now, everything works.

HTH,

I've got kind of an oddball setup so I don't expect anyone can solve my problem off the top of their heads, but I'm also unable to dig any deeper o it because I can't find any logs of the error itself. I'm hoping at least someone can point me at the logs
and then I can figure it out and share the answer here.
What I'm trying to do is remote into a Sever 2012 R2 VM I created in Azure from my Windows 7 workstation. For security reasons there are a couple extra steps that include opening a secure connection, creating a local tunnel from some port locally to the
server at port 3389 and then connecting to localhost:<some port>. This
was working on my previous workstation. On my new workstation, I have a lot of leftovers from my old one thanks to a backup and restore process that the hardware team does when swapping them out. When I go through the same process now it fails with a very
unhelpful "An Internal error has occurred". I can RDP to other servers and my college can still RDP to these VMs in Azure, but I specifically can't connect specifically to these VMs.
I can't share an image yet, but it's really just a popup with the header Remote Desktop Connection that says "An internal error has occurred."
Is there a log or something in event viewer or some kind of utility I can run to get some more details about the error?

I've checked Application and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\TerminalServices____, and there's nothing there.
Is there so... Read more

Hi,
I have booted the system with WinPE (v3.1) and tried to connect the share from the other PC.
I have used the below command to connect the share,
net use Z: \\IPAddress\Share Password /user:Username
I am getting the message "System Error 67 has occurred"
I tried to ping the IPAddress and the ping was successful.
I would like to know how to get the share connected successfully.
Appreciate your help!

We have several users on a Windows 2012 RDS server. Recently two started having an issue logging in. They VPN to a Sonicwall firewall (which is successful...we can ping the server).
When they try to connect using the Windows RDP client we are now getting "An internal error occurred". I cannot find out where details of this error are so It's VERY frustrating to try to fix based on "something went wrong" as the definition.
I need to get this working ASAP. How do I track down where this is failing?
Note: This is a Sonicwall NSA 250M firewall with sufficient VPN licenses. We can PING the remote server through the VPN tunnel but we cannot seem to get folders by opening Windows File Explorer and typing in the server IP (e.g. \\172.65.44.18). It times
out (and there are shares on that server so we SHOULD see SOMETING).
Is this a sudden firewall issue or something to do with RDP server licensing or something else? I have no clue where to even start investigating this.

"an unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x8000ffff)"

I made a restore disk on my 64bit win7 desktop for my 64bit win7 laptop because windows stopped loading. Now when I try different restore points I get the same problem. Should I make a new disk? What else could I try?

Post about original problem

Quote:
I have a normal stock dell desktop with windows 7.

I borrowed my grandmothers laptop. It is an Acer Aspire 5736Z-4790 w/ an Intel Processor. Last night after trying to install some files to make some cheat programs I use for an online game (I have loaded same programs 10x on other computers so I doubt its related to the programs themselves) One thing I did do was try to delete a winhttp.dll file in system32 or the WOW one(for 64bit computers? Forget the folders name) and replace it with another one(Directions for the cheats said to make sure that winhttp.dll was in sys32) and while trying to do that windows would not let me so I read somewere that there is a program that lets you "take ownership of a file" so you can override permissions. I then took ownership of sys32 and maybe the 64bit folder as well. It still did not let me replace any files in sys32 so I then restarted and when windows opened again, desktop loaded then an error message came up, then it restarted itself, and repeated, but after the second time it restarted itself windows would not load. After the Acer manufacture screen, just the blank black ... Read more

I saw a few old posts about this same topic, but none quite fit my situation so I'm starting a new post to request help/suggestions. Sorry for the length, but the instructions say to be as detailed as possible.

My System: I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit on an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC.

MY PRIMARY PROBLEM: Inability to do a System Restore after multiple attempts using various restore points.

First, I'm including what predicated my original attempt to do a system restore. While working on my computer on Sunday evening, some sort of error message popped up, but it disappeared before I really saw what it said. However, the result was that when I next switched to IE8, it wasn't working properly. I seem to recall it saying something about "i.exe" in the original quick message that disappeared on me & later saw something about missing java script, but this was before I knew I had a big problem so I didn't actually note the details.

FIRST FIX ATTEMPT:

My first step at resolving this was my standard one - Shutdown & Restart. When I did this, I stepped away from the computer & came back to see that it was doing a disk check. As it does this from time to time for no apparent reason, I wasn't too worried. However, when the system came back online, there were several obvious issues including.
My background picture changed back to some sort of default & all of my desktop icons were rearranged to sort of a standard setup. The items that ... Read more

A:Unspecified Error Occurred During System Restore

Hello Suzyc!

Excellent work on your post! It is very rare for someone to make so much effort, and it makes so much of a different to us!

I have seen similar issues to these before. All slightly different, but I know of a few things to check out.

1) Click on the Start Orb > Computer > C:\ > Users

You must do it through My Computer please, as instructed. Do you see two copies of your Account Name. For example, if this were me:

All Users
Default
Default User
Public
Richard
Richard

^ Two of my name. Tell me if this is the case on your computer.

I doubt this will be the case.

Go into your Account Folder (Richard for me)

Are there two Document folders, two Downloads folders, etc. etc.

If there are, go into each one in turn. One will contain your actual data, one will contain the data of a new computer. Delete the ones which come from a new computer, leaving only the ones with your data in them.

Log off and back on again.

2) Norton is not the only program to do this. What anti-malware tools do you have. McAfee, MSE, ESET, Spybot S+D with Tea Timer, Webroot

The two in bold have a far worse reputation of causing this problem than Norton does. I need to know if you have either of these two programs installed.

3) Are you backups disconnected and safe?

4) I need to take two logs. The first log will help me diagnose your System Restore issue, your SFC result, and other lurking problems.

Please navigate to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\ and copy CBS.log to your Desktop. Rig... Read more

I'm running Windows 7 Pro on my Dell laptop. This laptop has been in storage and hasn't been turned on in a year. Originally, all I wanted to do was use iTunes. The problem:

It made me update it in order to use it, but I got an error.

I un-installed it and tried downloading a fresh copy and I get the following error:
After some Googling, I read that not having the latest Windows .NET framework might be the problem. Sounded reasonable so I fired up Windows Update but that gave me an error and wouldn't start checking for updates.

I managed to get it to check for updates, but now when it starts the process, I get the following:
I Googled the error code "8007007E" and tried a few things to try and fix it.

I downloaded the windowsupdatediagnostic.diagcab, found on Microsoft's site, here:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7
I tried resetting the Windows Update reset tool, using "MicrosoftFixit50202", found here:http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
I download the system readiness tool, found here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132
I tried a clean boot.

I tried renaming the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder.

None of this worked.

I ran the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and the results said I had bad files, but I don't know how to fix them. It generated a CBS log, which is too large for me to post (10MB) , so I've uploaded to dropbox,... Read more

We are using Windows 7 64 Bits VM on KVM hypervisor. However several our clients cannot connect to the VM through RDP. The error message indicates "An internal error occurre". Here some debug information I can collect right now:
1. I can always connect to the same VM through RPD, but my clients cannot at the same time. We are at different locations and far away.
2. My clients can ping to the VM.
3. When I change the RDP port to 443, I can connect to the VM, but my client still cannot with the same error.
4. When I turn off all firewall, we still have the same situation.
5. Restart VM, still the same situation.
6. When I create the same VM on the same host, my client can connect to it.
7. My client can connect to the VM before, but see this problem recently.

Any help is really appreciated.

After being informed by the tech support of Motu (music software) to download DirectX, I get the following message: "An internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem." However, there is no sign of either of these in the Windows folder. I am using Windows XP offline, so it was the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (directx_aug2009_redist.exe) I was trying to install. As the PC has not been connected to the internet for a couple of years, web browsers and anti-virus/spyware software are uninstalled.

The error message I was previously getting which prompted Motu to advise me to download DirectX was 'Missing application element - Unable to load 'C:\Program Files\MOTU\Ethno Instrument\Plug-in|Ethno.dll'. Please reinstall the application or contact technical support'. However, when I look in that folder I can see that .dll file is there. I tried reinstalling the older version of the software (Ethno. 1.0) and restarting and that didn't work; I then did the same with the update again but still get this message. It doesn't seem to be a problem unique to that software however as another module by the same manufacturer also refuses to load. I have attached the latest error information it gave in the accompanying text file.

Other information which might be useful:

* There appear to be 3 administrator accounts - the original one (which I think was disabled by the tech... Read more
