Q: LENOVO Legion Y520-15IKBM

HelloI need to buy a new laptop and I found this one which people say it's suitable for games (and within my budget). Do you guys think it meets all the requirements for playing games, new games especially like assassin's creed odyssey? I'm no real expert when it comes to these kind of things . Will this configuration last long or it's going be old in a couple of years (in terms of gaming requirements I mean). And last but not least... is actually 16 the maximum ram supported?ThanksLENOVO Legion Y520-15IKBMProcessor: Intel Core i7Processor identification: - 7700HQ, Quad Core- GPU: Intel HD Graphics 630- Processor architecture: Kaby LakeClock speed (GHz): 2.8Max Turbo Frequency (GHz): 3.8Third level cache (MB): 6Chipset brand: IntelRam MemoryRAM: 16 GBType of RAM: DDR4Maximum Ram Supported: 16 GBTotal RAM slot number: 2Hard DiskHDD: 1000 GBHard Disk Type: HDDSSD: 128 GBGraphic cardGraphics: nVidia graphicsGraphic model: - GeForce GTX-1060Memory Graphics Card (MB): 6000Other features of the graphics card: - Dedicated- GDDR5Operating systemOperating system: Windows 10 Home (64bit)DisplayDisplay size: Display 15.6 ''Display ('): 15Convertible: NoHD: Full HDDisplay resolution: 1920x1080 pixelsScreen format: 16: 93D: NoAnti-reflective display: YesIPS display: YesOptical UnitOptical drive: NoAudio cardSound card: Audio by HarmanSpeakers: 2 x 2.0 WConnectivityEthernet: YesEthernet type: 10/100/1000Wi-Fi: YesBluetooth: 4.1InterfacesUSB 2.0: 1USB 3.0: 2Number of usb type 'C' ports: 1VGA: NoHDMI: YesRJ 45 connector: 1Microphone input: 1Headphone output: 1Card reader: NoRear camera: NoFingerprint reader: NoBuilt-in flash: NoAccessoriesKeyboard: Full keyboard with numeric keypadBacklit keyboard: YesMouse: Multi-gesture touchpadWebcam: YesMicrophone: YesOtherOther: Memory:- 1 TB 7mm 5400rpm- HDD Interface: SATA 3- SSD: 128G M.2 PCIERAM:- DDR4 2400MHzDisplay:- 15.6 "(39.6 cm) FHD IPS AG (SLIM)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,2 days ago I updated BIOS to 5XCN22WW on my Lenovo Legion. Then problems appeared:1. Windows 10 pro did not want to boot anymore(INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE), bitlocker ON2. After fixing 1, the laptop does not boot if my Asus Gladius mouse is connected to any USB port. To be noted that I also have a mechanical keyboard attached, and mini display port connected and they don't create any issue. The laptop hangs on the Lenovo LOGO. If I detach the  mouse, restart, enter BIOS and then connect the mouse while in BIOS, the laptop hangs with the BIOS image left on it!3. If I enable secure boot in BIOS and leave the mouse connected, then I get a blue screen with info that Windows 10 wasn't able to boot correctly, press the restart button and then the laptop boots. Questions:1. Might this be related to this new BIOS? Because it just created a lot of problems to me after update. If you ask if I'm sure that I installed the correct BIOS then yes, it's correct, because the machine was detected by Lenovo service bridge, and also I checked the sticker on the back.2. I don't see any downgrade options on the support site. Only the latest BIOS. How to get previous BIOS versions?3. Shall I contact ASUS? I don't know what they will do though, because it seems that this is an issue with the latest BIOS, as with the previous version I had no such issues! Thanks!

Hello, I own a Lenovo Legion Y520 (the one with 2tb HDD) and I would like to add an SSD to it as well. From what I've read, if I want to keep my HDD and add an SSD, I will need an M.2 type SSD. Also, I have found an SSD that I think would be compatible with my Y520, but I wanted to ask here before buying it. The SSD I'm talking about it the SSD WD Black 256GB PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280. I will also attach a picture of it, so if anyone could tell me if it's compatible, I'll be very thankful. This is the one

Dear Lenovo community,I am considering an ssd upgrade. I know that my laptop (Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBN) supports m.2 NVMe gen 3.0 x4, but is it compatible with gen 3.0 x2? I found some good deals, they are actually about half the price of an x4 ssd ...Also, what length does it support? I found a link for the ssd that comes in it (in higher configurations), so is that the maximum length? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hello all. I am about to buy the Legion Y520-15IKBN. It's the i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060  version. I have 2 questions though before I buy it.  1. I have a Seagate Barracuda 5TB 2,5" HDD, a Samsung 960 Evo NVMe 500GB and a HyperX Impact 16GB DDR4-2400 laptop RAM. Can I install them on this model or if I open it it will void the warranty?  2. The laptop comes with no OS. I have Windows 10 on my desktop PC. Since Windows are connected to the Outlook account (I think), will I be able to install and activate them on the laptop or I have to buy new? Thank you very much for any answers

Hello, i have a Lenovo legion Y520IKBA notebook for 10 months, which runs integrated Intel HD630 Graphics and then AMD Radeon RX560 Graphic card.I had no problem for playing games on high settings with solid fps, usually i am playing World of Tanks on 70-90 fps, but today in the middle of battle, the screen freezed for 1sec, then it went quality down and fps dropped to 7-14, i guess that somehow notebook switched to use HD630 Graphics instead of RX560. I am running 19.5.2 Adrenalin 2019 drivers. It offers me upgrade from 19.5.2 to 19.9.1 but when i did it in past, the same thing happened so i am running older drivers because of that. GPU tempeature is about 38-43C. Here is what i tried and nothing worked:- hard restart of notebook- using CCleaner and DDU for cleaning drivers and reinstalling- in device manager i uinstalled and installed new drivers- checking in BIOS if dedicated gpu is enabled Nothing of this worked, anybody else had this problem and solved it? I checked older topics, but none of it worked for me. I will be glad for any idead, thanks a lot.

I currently own a Y520 for a year and a month now. An issue that recently rose from my laptop is that at rare occasions, although the F2 key is still working by itself (keyboard testing sites prove it), Fn+F2, which is supposed to lower the volume, won't work. Fn+other Fx keys still work though, excpet for F2. Restarting the laptop multiple times does not solve the problem. This happened once before and it just resolved itself, but now it's taking quite a while. The odd thing is that when I hold Fn+F2, and then let go of Fn while still pressing on F2, it actually does what Fn+F2 is supposed to do, and when I press Fn again, it stops working again, and letting go of Fn makes it work again. I am really confused, is this a software or a hardware issue? Are there any temporary or long term fixes?

My lenovo legion Y520 touchpad isn't responding at all, it is working fine for the first 1-2 hours when i use it, then suddenly it stops working for no reason at all, it got fixed everytime i restart the laptop, but it's too troublesome when im doing some work, here's some weird thing :1. When i go to the setting, the touchpad didn't have any option available but the touchpad sensivity,2. On the device manager the ELAN pointing device is up and running3. On the mouse properties it also says that the smartpad is enabled, but it didn't respond, not even the left-click and the right-click4. Everything else is working normally, Fn+F6 shows that the touchpad is on or off but the touchpad isnt responding when it was turned onI tried googling but couldn't found any similar problems to mine, i hope some experts could help up, thanks in advance! Edit : Im currently using windows 10

Where can I find information on the keyboard layout, specifically about the "highlighted" keys (w,a,s,d, and \ with red bar, 7 w circled Y)? I'm assuming they have special functions. I couldn't find anything in the manual or searching online. Thanks
