startup error

Q: startup error

I was messing around with the ip address of my computer because the internet didnt work. then i deleted and installed fresh winsock entries.

i restarted the computer and i got a error.
and the technical information is:

*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFE8, 0x00000001, 0x804d9044, 0x00000000)

here is what i found on a google search:
by reading it, i find that that error comes up when a new hardware or software was installed that was bad. i think thats what happened when i did the winsock entries.i can boot up in safe mode, i found the newest winsock entries and installed them and that didnt work
Please Help

Preferred Solution: startup error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

so everything was fine when my laptop started to become very slow and i used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.

then i researched and found out that there is some problem with the windows service pack 1 and some daemon tools driver sptd.sys is also involved or something so i uninstalled daemon tools as well as windows 7 service pack 1 from control panel .

now the system is back to its normal speed once it starts up fully , and unless i switch it off there is no problem , but when i restart the system it takes at least half an hour to start up sometimes more than that , sometimes it never starts and i see the BSOD after the welcome screen with error 0x000000f4 and the physical memory dump fails with error 0xc0000010 .

i had also found something about minidump files which i didnt understand anything about , but i still tried to find the folder but i couldnt find the minidump folder in c:/windows/ so i figured maybe i didnt have a minidump folder.

any help would be really appreciated , and if you decide to help please do so thinki... Read more

As the title suggests, my Acer Aspire has been running startup repair for over 20 hours following a BSOD yesterday. I'm not sure if it's worth the wait so maybe you all can shed some light. Yesterday I was stressfully trying to search for something (using Chrome) and the website I was on froze; admittedly I slammed the heels of my hands down on the laptop at that point. The site unfroze after less than 30 seconds, I continued using my laptop without incident, then let it hibernate for about an hour. Started up fine after that, and at that point I was beginning to rip a DVD (one that I owned; I just wanted the files on my computer) using a program that I've used successfully in the past, but the rip failed. So I began using VLC instead, and hadn't actually started ripping any files when my laptop froze. I had been trying to point to a file path for saving but hadn't saved anything. The laptop was completely unresponsive after several minutes, so I hit the power key to restart, which is when I got the BSOD. It flashed too quickly for me to read or remember anything other than the word KERNEL. I've been wracking my brain trying to remember if it said kernel error or kernel memory error or what.

After the BSOD I had the option to start normally or in startup repair; I hit "start windows normally" but it went to repair anyway. It was on the grey screen with the cursor but I thought it had frozen again, so I did another hard restart. No BSOD this time, but again the opti... Read more

My laptop hasn't been in use for about a few weeks and all of a sudden, I am getting a Windows Error Recovery on Startup. I am given two options: Launch Startup Repair (recommended) and Start Windows Normally. Nothing happens when I try to restart Windows normally -- I only see a black screen. Upon selecting System Recovery, a teal screen pops up with "System Recovery Options" telling me to select a keyboard layout. Then it tells me to select my OS, but it comes up blank, telling me to load drivers for my hard disks. I stopped right there.

I am a little hesitant about using the System Recovery in fear of losing important files. If this is a possibility, I may try to backup my files using an alternate OS, like Ubuntu. Or are my files already long gone? Is this just a restore for important Windows files or a complete restore of Windows back to factory settings?

I have not installed any new software or devices. Running Windows Vista x64.

Hi guys I was cleaning my laptop turned it on and it just wouldn't work so I turned it off and on again and it was giving me this error code saying my keyboard is not detected in start up. It then says there was a problem and shoots me to startup repair where it's just stuck not doing anything. My mouse and keyboard don't work, but I have a wireless mouse that I can use I can't access safe mode either because my keyboard doesn't work and I don't know if I can get a keyboard hooked up since my computer might not be able to recognize it. Sorry for the badly worded paragraph it's really late and I need to go to sleep. How can I solve this problem. Also startup time is really long ( usually 20 seconds) is now 5 min an doesn't even start up some times and I have no recovery disks or anything like that so im really confused what to do
Edit: A quick update, I started my computer in the morning and was not getting error 01010003, and my computer started perfectly fine however my keyboard still isn't working. I think it might be a driver problem, but I can't access Safe Mode... because my keyboard doesn't work. Is the only way of getting the key board to work getting a new keyboard and using that to diagnose the problem through safe mode or?

A:Error 0101003 Keyboard no detected, stuck on startup/startup repair

In this situation, you have to use another keyboard in order to test. I wish you will be luckier than me .... for me it turned out to be a motherboard failure My computer was working normally .... but no USB/PS2 ports were working.

My sister's PC had been corrupted in lots of unnecessary programs and apps.
I deleted those craps. Windows Action Center then prompts me to update my windows, and I did.
PC restarted and POOF!!!, I am seem to be forever stuck in the Startup Repair Loop.
So I tried System Restore, but it's giving me the error code stated above (error 0x80070003).
I also tried System Image Recovery, and it's not also of help. Also, checking Hardware Options didn't help.
Lastly, I tried the Command Prompt option and it gives me nothing.

Hi to all,

Around 5 days ago, some sort of error, cropped up while installation of Kaspersky Anti Virus on my laptop, and after that everytime, I turned the system on, I faced the blue screen error.

Then, i formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows XP. It was running fine for two days. Suddenly, it started giving error "Logonui.exe application error" at startup displaying something similar to "The instruction at '0x0037149c' referenced memory" something.. It had to buttons - Cancel (for debugging) and Ok.. I pressed cancel/ok/close button. It always cropped up. Until after a series of pressing buttons, my log on screen came. After logging in, all my icons and taskbar gone. So, i opened Windows Task Manager and run "explorer.exe". After everything came up, Some Data Execution Prevention error cropped up. Whenever i tried clicking "Close Message", it always came up again with a separate window for the "Send Error Report to Microsoft" dialog box.

Whenever I connected to internet, the link under my Internet started blinking very fast. I even left it without any internet application open, but it still went on. I saw the properties window of my connection. It went on and on. And in return, everything went slow. Internet surfing and downloading. And one major problem occurred that, whenever I leave my internet open for a short while, it shows the blue screen of error and restarts.

I thought of formatting every drive ... Read more

This is a family member's laptop. It is a Dell Inspirion N4110 running Win 7 Home Premium x64
They gave it to me complaining that the shutdown button restarts the computer and will not actually shut it down.
So I checked its preferences, they were fine. I went into the registry and changed the value from 1 to 0. That didn't work. (I changed it back)

I noticed on start up there is an error (it still pops up) that says there was a problem starting c:\users\blah\AppData\Roaming\homsp.dll The specified module could not be found.

The I decided to run a virus scan. Their McAfee had expired so I uninstalled it along with some odd software from a company called SysTweak or something and installed AVG and Malware Bytes. Those full scans came back clean except AVG found something and removed it but it wasn't of any significance to this issue.

I decided to check Windows Update, it wouldn't run. So I tried to restart it in Services and it wasn't there. After some piddling I found a program that supposedly fixed the problem for you. It was called Fix WU. I got it Softpedia. After running it the Windows Update service was back. I was able to install some updates and thought all was well. Then there were more updates. I tried to install them and got an error 80246008.

So I then realized BITS wasn't listed in the Services, either. I found a download (? [SOLUTION] Windows Update and BITS services missing) that contained reg files for Windows 7, installed it, ran the bits file and then res... Read more

I'm in no way a expert on such things but I did notice something you found.

Their is no way of knowing all the things a program like that has done. If I had to repair this computer I would start with a repair install.

Give this a good read.

Repair Install

Then I would install MSE for a anti virus and use the built in Windows Firewall.

Little note: If you didn't use McAfee's online removal tool their could of been left overs of McAfee on the computer when you installed AVG and that would be just more problems.
Any anti virus program you remove I recommend using their own removal tool found online.

I have updated windows, which I didn't update currently because I keep it up to date, I have run Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool which found nothing, I have run Malwarebytes which found nothing I have of course run my current anti-virus, malware, registry cleaner software and it says all is good too. Nothing is running poorly on my computer but I am starting to think that there was something that happened and my computer was able to remove it but maybe not all of it or there are damaged files from it? I am not super computer saavy but I do pretty well and can definately can follow good directions. I would really appreciate any help with this that anyone can provide!

The picture on the task bar is the ATI logo and says ATI. I looked up MOM.exe and knew it has something to do with ATI, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my ATI drivers, didnt fix the problem.

I was having a problem before where I had a similar error at startup. The name of the box was MOM.EXE, and it said it couldnt run the problem if i remember right.

Im both cases i can click the OK button and the error doesnt come up again until i restart my computer.

A:At Startup Error: Mom.exe - .net Framework Initialization Error

This error may be a result of the .NET Framework either not being installed or the installation is corrupt. Go Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and make sure the Show Updates box at the top is checked. Then search for an entry called:Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0If it is there remove it (don't worry if it is not there). Then go to this site and download a fresh copy of it. Install it, reboot and then see if your problem has been solved.

When the machine would normally be going to the Windows startup screen, instead it shows two lines of print separated by a blank line, white print on a black screen:

Boot error: 0-00

Select partition to boot, 0-3:_

the underline at the end of the second line is a flashing cursor. It remains with this showing until I enter any character, and hit 'RETURN', whereupon the normal boot process resumes. It doesn't matter if I enter one of the four requested digits or something else, any character will do. While this seems simple enough, it worries me - I don't like partition problems, especially since I'v seen Windows 7 repeatedly simultaneously convert normal partitions on up to three drives at once into completely unreadable garbage that no partitioning software can read. While there seems to be no consequence from this behavior, I've become very skittish since witnessing what Win 7 can so completely foul up. I've had this boot error before, and the only thing that removed it was completely repartitioning and reformatting the drive involved. Does any body recognise this? I've been working on and in computer systems since they were called 'numerical calculators', back in the fifties, and I've never seen this until two years ago. Both times I've seen this start, it's begun at startup from a cold boot, after a long series of drive changes, otherwise I know of no other common factor. I know I'm getting old and stodgy, but I really don't like this. The error stays with the driv... Read more

Today I got my new laptop and decided to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 7 on it. After several hours of partitioning and researching, I ran into many issues. Eventually I decided to boot Ubuntu from a USB drive, open up Gparted, and delete any and all Linux partitions while expanding the size of the Windows partition back to normal.

Unfortunately, in the process, I must have made an error, because now upon startup I get the "bootmgr is missing" error. I don't have a recovery CD nor does my laptop have a CD drive, so that's out of the question, but I know for a fact my Hard Drive has a recovery partition on it. I want to restore my computer back to normal, keeping my old files if necessary. However, since I just got the computer today, I clearly don't have anything on there I can't afford to lose, so if I must do a factory reset I will.

When I try to start up the computer, everything works until after the XP logo loading screen. After that, there's a long long black screen that eventually turns into a blue error screen that says "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal". I have no clue whats going on. All I did yesterday was install battlefield 2 and spill a bit of water on my keyboard. Could either of those things have caused this?

Any help is extremely appreciated, I just got FEAR and want to play it quite badly.

I am having trouble removing an error i receive on startup. The message reads as follows:
"Error loading C:\PROGRA~2\Kodak\EasyShareSetup\$REGIS~1\Registation_7.4.20.2.sxt The specified module could not be found".

I had a similar problem on my old computer which i sorted easily as i used msconfig to remove useless files on startup. This one however i cannot find on Vista OS and have had no luck searching through regedit. I have also tried programs such as Register Cleaner for Vista and Ad-aware 2007. As far as i know i cannot see what is trying to open this non-existent file relating to Kodak EasyShare which i uninstalled a few days ago. Please help.

I have Windows XP and when I start my computer, a box opens up which looks just like the Internet Explorer error box and reads:

"hole has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience."

I read the file that it says will also be sent in the error report:

It doesn't seem that anything happens besides this box opening. I'm able to browse the Internet using Internet Explorer.

I've ran my McAfee virus scan and spybot program and neither have solved the problem. Any ideas?

Ok, everytime the computer is restarted I get this message...

Could not load or run C:\Users\Cody\AppData\Local\Temp\wvutr.exe specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

How do I solve that problem? Most of the time a lot of new tabs open up when accessing the internet and Norton antivirus or google toolbar isn't stopping it. The computer also occasionally makes all the icons and the taskbar at the bottom disappear. This is a brand new computer Inspiron 531. One more thing, as I m typing this I usually have to go back and fix mistakes because the keyboard is not processing all the key presses. Thanks a bunch to anyone who can help!!

Ok, I had Window Xp and Ubuntu. I wanted to get rid of ubuntu, so in windows XP, under computer management and disk management, I right clicked and deleted the partition. Then I created a new logical drive. However, when I restarted my computer, it says: "Verifying DMI Pool Data.............. GRUB Loading stage1.5. GRUB Loading, please wait... Error 17" And now I can't start up Windows XP anymore!

Anything I can do?

A:Startup error 17

Deleting the Ubuntu partition deleted the GRUB bootloader, which gives error 17. To fix it, you need to rewrite the MBR so that it no longer contains GRUB.

You will need an XP CD to do this. Boot from the CD, and at the first screen, press R to enter recovery console.

It will then ask you which install you want to log on to. Type in 1 and press enter. You may then need to enter the administrator password (Blank by default)

Now type in fixmbr and press enter. It will give you a warning about a possible loss of data, press Y to continue.

Then type exit to restart the PC.

Hope this helps you

after that i can load some operating programs win 98 one time the recovery another the last time it wouldn't get past memory, but later after os is on i get error messages about not enough memory available.

is it the controller on the mb or is it something in the hard drive itself.

Whenever I start up my computer, a .dll error comes up saying something along the lines "Unable to locate ihorauhn.dll"
It's been happening for a while, but I haven;t noticed any changes in my computer's performance...
I tried searching for 'ihorauhn.dll' on the internet, and found nothing about it.
So, I have no idea what it was for, why it is missing, and what it does.
I was just wondering what the .dll was for and what I should do to fix it?

Recently, I got a wireless adapter card for my Compaq Presario (2005-6) desktop PC. Unfortunately, wireless cards have been known to freeze that model of computer if they use usb port 2.0. My comp started freezing after an hour and eventually much faster, leading to my having to shut it down by holding the power button repeatedly. Eventually it started running very poorly, so I did a destructive system restore and wiped the entire computer. I had to do this twice, because it started freezing again - the third time, it stopped freezing because I switched which port the wireless card was in, but the damage was already done.
Now windows will not start normally at all. It has no restore save points and will not allow me to try to restore either via safe mode or through hitting f10 at start up. If I try to use 'start windows normally/last good configuration', the PC simply freezes on a black screen. I have tried deleting programs in safe mode, defragging, disk cleanup, and chkdsk, none of which worked. I can't burn windows XP or boot.ini because the only other computer we have is incapable of burning CDs, and compaq did not send any system restore discs with the computer - nor did they send the XP set up cds. Is there any way for me to somehow repair XP without the discs? It seems like a huge waste of a computer to try and buy a new one when everyone else I've consulted said it sounds like a windows problem rather than an XP one.

Thanks for any advice.

A:XP Error At Startup

Do any of your friends have an XP CD that you can borrow? You could do a repair install with it then, which would most likely solve your issue.

Hello everyone,
Upon starting up my account, Windows 7, I run into an error prompt indicating "C:\User\TJ\AppData\Local\Temp\CT3306061\plugins\TBVerifier.dll the specified module could not be found." I have conducted a scan via AVG and Malwarebytes, have corrected / removed all threats, and have restarted with the error still persisting.

In my own response this topic, it has been solved for me via the following method.
Installed CCleaner
Completed scan

Disabled Conduit entries.
Restarted and error was no longer present.

Hi all,

My XP machine is now taking about 5 mins to load. Once the desktop appears, I'm greeted with the rather ambiguous error "Setup Error - failed to load resources from resource file...please check your setup". I've read some posts about being a corruption in the .NET framework, but don't really know how to proceed in fixing it, or indeed if the posts I've read are related to my problem. Does anyone have any more info on what this error is, and how to go about fixing it?

Incidentally, my PC seems to run fine once it's booted.

Thanks to all who can help!

A:Error on startup

it maybe a lot of startup programs loading
have you looked at the startup tab on msconfig
for 98, ME, XP
startup tab
have a look at the programs listed - details available from here

work out what you need

or you can post them here
run msinfo32
software environment
startup programs
highlight them all
control C [this will copy to clipboard]
then you can control V [this will paste from clipboard] into this post
