M700 Tiny Displayport issues

Q: M700 Tiny Displayport issues

Hello all, I'm having quite the issue with a batch of Lenovo M700 (10HY 21US) tinys. I've had at least a dozen with displayport issues. We purchased them in bulk from our vendor about 9 months ago, and are just now getting around to using them to replace older models. We're running Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise. We're running into issues with the monitors connected thru the displayport to VGA cutting out. It doesn't matter which port we use, the monitor will still cut out. We've tried different displayport adapters, we've tried different monitors, etc. It seems to happen regardless of hardware brand. We've also managed to run Lenovo system update, update the bios and all of the drivers, etc. We're very stumped at the moment because after everything we have tried the monitors will still cut out and come back on. It's definitely NOT a monitor issue. Also, there is no VGA port on the M700 model we have. If we use a 3rd party USB to VGA adapter we have no issues, it's just the displayport to VGA that we have issues with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just got this M700 SFF desktop, which has 2 Displayports and 1 VGA output. The PC has Intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics. - Should I be able to use THREE monitors at "extended desktop" setting from 2 X DP + 1 X VGA? Right now, I am running One (Dell S2216H) Monitor from One of the Displayport via DP to HDMI adapter (since the monitor doesn't support DP input) and another same model monitor from the VGA output, using a VGA cable. If I try the second Displayport, it seems to show no output. I tried the same setup as the first monitor, DP>DP to HDMI Adapter>HDMI cable>Monitor; doesn't work. I tried unplugging the VGA connected one and run the setup, doesn't work. I shifted the working setup i.e. DP Adapter>HDMI to that displayport from the working one, the monitor doesn't get any input. In both cases, monitors connected to the last Displayport isn't detected by the graphics card or control panel. I have updated my BIOS to .....67 (as shown in Lenovo Support page) and changed the Display from PCE to IGD (as suggested in another Lenovo Support forum), but the BIOS setting doesn't show any option for "Enable Multiple Monitor Support" I have designated the DP>HDMI connected monitor as my primary display. - How can I get the other Displayport to work? - Can I use two Displayport output (via HDMI) to two monitors simultaneously at extended desktop setting? - How can I check/diagnose if that Displayport is correctly connected for giving any output at all?

I have an M700 Tiny with i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and Intel HD Graphics 530 with 3 displayport outputs. I currently run dual 28" monitors, both at 2560x1440, and it works great. I would like to replace one of the 28" monitors with a 40" 4k TV running at 2560x1440. The primary use will be displaying aerial photos and maps -- video is a low priority use. I don't think anyone makes a 4k TV with displayport input, so I would need to go from displayport out on the M700 to HDMI in on the 4k TV. Is anyone else doing this with a displayport-to-hdmi adapter (Lenovo brand or other) and getting 2560x1440, not 1920x1080? Thank you!

My organization has purchased a number of M700 Tiny units, So far there have been a few minor issues but nothing spectacular. But one issue we keep coming across is a dual monitor problem on machines with only one monitor connected. The problem is the user comes in and turns on the machine and gets past the HDD password we have setup and then gets into windows and all they see is a black screen. Ifthey move the mouse to the screen they can see it. We get a call about a black screen and nothing on it. We go to the system and find it is plugged in and all is good. Windows 10 is acting like it has dual monitors setup but the unit has never had a second screen connected to it. The M700 has dual Display Ports on it. I am finding this issue on either of the two ports but usually the one not close to the power adapter. If the monitor is plugged into the one mentioned I moved it to the one closest to the power and that seems to resolve the issue for most. Every now and the problem is with the one closest to the power adapter. I have run all the system updates from Lenovo System Updater and still find this randomly happens. I am guessing this is a windows 10 issue. The machines do not yet have the anniversary update. That is something we are planning on rolling out soon. Does anyone have any suggestiongs for this type of problem? Has any one else experienced this?

For all of our desktops we have the display set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity to save power and extend the life of the monitor.  With the Tiny-In-One 24 & M700 Tiny, once the monitor turns off, it won't wake back up by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.  The Tiny is still running just fine I can remote to it from another machine but even remoting to it and logging in does not wake the screen.  This is with the TIO running in AIO mode.  The only way to wake the screen is to use the user controls on the front of the monitor to switch to DP mode and back to AIO mode.

Is this a know bug?  Running Windows 7 and I've already reinstalled all drivers and ran the lenovo system update utility and everything is up-to-date.  I also set the display to turn off after only a minute to do more testing and about 1 in every 10 tries, the monitor will wake up normally.  The rest of the time I have to use the user controls on the front of the monitor.

In addition to the same exact thing that Banner has, (well I wake it by pressing the power button, it goes off, then press again, it comes on, then move mouse to wake) but in addition to that quite a few of our clients mention that when they sit down at the computer (without touching anything) it immediately goes black, shows AIO Mode in the top left corner and goes back to the normal screen.

Hi Everyone, Our customers who use Lenovo M700 tiny to run our java based application for french pharmacys encounter frequent flickering issues on their computer. We have other customers who face exactly the same problem on computers from other brands. The common point between all these customers seems to be that all these computers use the intel hd 510/530 graphics.a zipped flickering video example is attached to this post.We updated every bios/graphic/chipset driver we could without any positive result.As a Lenovo trade partner , we asked Lenovo for support but until there, no result either. This morning , i downloaded the last available Intel HD 510 driver on the Intel support Website, which driver is not yet available on Lenovo M700 support page. I hope this will work (i'll tell you if so), the release notes tell it corrects flickering problems for games like Doom3D and others... The goal of this post is to show the community an example of our flickering issue and to know if anyone already encountered such a problem like this. Could you please let me know if it already happened to you ?Thanks for your replies B. I have an M900 Tiny that has a intermittent problem with dropping brightness on the displayport out. I'm not setting it anywhere. Sometimes when coming out of sleep (windows 7 x64 Pro) it just won't send video. I can swap the DP cable to another monitor and the problem is the same. A hard reboot solves it, leading me to think it's definitely something WRT the sleep/video configuration. I've had it running in Maximum Performance power mode with no OS sleep settings, just 'turn off the monitor after 6 minutes'. The video driver version is: 20.19.15.4474 This is a somewhat recent problem, as it hasn't always done this. Anyone run into a similar situation? And found an actual fix/solution? Not just guesses, please.

Different Intel chipset implies a different motherboard.   Providing processor, memory, storage is the same speed, I would suspect that the performance is the same or similar.

Hi all, I bought an M700 tiny which came with a 128GB SATA SSD. I installed a 128GB M.2 SSD and moved my OS to it. Then, I removed the sata ssd and installed a regular HDD for storage purposes. After doing that, I noticed that whenever I try to access the HDD, there is a responsiveness issue. When windows starts, the device is shown after login but it takes about half a minute to show the device capacity. Also, when I access files within the HDD, I face the same slowness. I know there is no issue with the HDD itself because when I booted a linux USB flash memory on the same computer I didn't face any such issue and the HDD was snappy. The responsiveness issue is only with the original OS, Windows 7 Pro 64. I also connected an external HDD via a powered USB hub but that didn't cause an issue either. I updated the BIOS to the latest available version (FTWKT49A) but it didn't solve the issue. Can anyone please assist with this issue?

Hi! I could use some help with usb support under windows 7. I was able to install Windows 7 (32bit) after applying the hotfix to the setup usb drive.My keyboard an mouse only work when I enable legacy support and virtual kbc in the bios. However, no USB drives are recognized after the installation and there seem to be issues with the generic ethernet driver so I really have no way of adding drivers to the system. I would like to switch off usb legacy support to see if that is maybe interfering with my pendrives but I would not have a mouse or a keyboard if I did that. Any ideas? I have added the 960 Pro to an m700 tiny with Windows 7.  The drive does not show up in BIOS nor is it available in the OS.  I've downloaded the drivers as well as Samsung Magician.  Both say no drive found.  I am leaving the original SSD in as boot drive.

Any ideas?

I'm experiencing monitor flickering on a new M700 Tiny that I recently installed. The flickering is in the form of diagonal lines or tears across the monitors that appear randomly. The issue is occurring on both monitors and I've switched out DisplayPort cables. (this model only has DisplayPort) I've also updated the video drivers and the BIOS. I've also tried different ports on the PC. One thing I did notice is that when I switched out the DisplayPort cables the issue became much, much worse. When I use a DVI to DisplayPort cable along with a 6ft DisplayPort cable for the other monitor the flickering is intermittent. When I use two 3ft DisplayPort cables from Amazon the issue becomes extremely bad.

We purchased several hundred M700 Tinys with AIO 22 lcds.  The lcds have built in speakers.  However even at max, the volume is very low.  No where near what even these tiny speakers should do IMO.  I have updated drivers with no change.  I am not sure if it is just poor speakers, or if the m700 is not driving them hard enough through the usb connection

Does anyone else have a combo similar that is having same issues? Find any fix?

A:M700 Tiny AIO 22 lcd speaker volume very low

Hi jamato455, welcome to the forums.

Since you have a lot of Thinkcentre machines, and you may be a corporate customers, remember that the formal way to get support from Lenovo is opening a ticket. ... just in case.

My ideas of what to try will be:

1) Connect a different kind of speakers (normal ones, not USB) to the M700 machine and check if the sound is fine.
2) Connect the AIO LCD to another machine, a laptop or any PC (that is not the M700) and see how it sounds.

With that two things you have been doing some "trial and error" to see if the problem is the M700.

3) Try to check how the AIO 22" LCDs USB Audio gets recognized by Windows. Play with the sound settings on Windows just to be sure that the "USB Audio" is the default one.  Also you can check the drivers of USB Audio device to see if that may be the source of the problem.

I hope this can give you some hints.

Regards

I purchased a labor day sale m700 tiny from Lenovo directly.
Good price as I got the barebones model. No keyboard no mouse no stand windows 10 premium.

I was a mac mini freak but I am well versed in windows. So first mod was to pull the stock 4gb ram and add 32gb of ram. I used crucial as it was a good price.  So I am now at :

CPU = pentium g4400t
SSD = 128gb samsung stock
Ram = 32gb crucial ddr4 2133
M2 = empty
Port = display dongle to hdmi to a sony 50 inch tv.
OS = windows 10 premium.
Logitech= Mouse + Keyboard

So far the dongle to hdmi works great as does the 32 gb ram.
I will run like this for a while before new upgrades.

I want to know the proper m2 to add:

Hello! Yesterday I've purchased M700 Tiny with Intel I5 6400t/4Gb Samsung DDR4/500Gb + 8Gb HDD Seagate.Immediately after unboxing I added additional RAM 8Gb Samsung DDR4 and M.2 SSD Sata 128 Gb by Transcend (MTS800 Series). Then I updated BIOS to latest available (FWKT65A), set thermal management from default ("silent") to more performant mode, installed Ubuntu x64 16.04 and started to test the device (internal bios tests, stress utility etc). The device is working fine for now. The only thing that confuses me a little is the temperature of Seagate HDD. Its maximum value is about 55-56 degrees of Celsium. According to Seagate datasheet of this model the operation range of this model is 0-60 hence it is below the threshold but the margin is rather low. M.2 SSD temperature is 54-55 degrees and it is placed near to Seagate HDD so may be M.2 has effect on HDD... Ubuntu was installed on M.2 completely so HDD activity apparently must be rather low in idle state... I'm planning to replace this HDD with another SSD model in the near future (maybe after 3-4 months), and mount this HDD in my BigTower desktop with a lot of space and good fans inside. Would you please answer the following question: Is Seagate 500Gb HDD and M.2 SSD temperatures about 55 degrees is OK for M700 Tiny? Thanks!

I purchased a labor day sale m700 tiny from Lenovo directly.Good price as I got the barebones model. No keyboard no mouse no stand windows 10 premium.A pentium g4400t 4gb ram and the 128gb ssd(only premium item).I was a mac mini freak but I am well versed in windows. So first mod was to pull the stock 4gb ram and add 32gb of ram. I used crucial as it was a good price.  So I am now at : CPU = pentium g4400tSSD = 128gb samsung stockRam = 32gb crucial ddr4 2133M2 = emptyPort = display dongle to hdmi to a sony 50 inch tv.OS = windows 10 premium.Logitech= Mouse + Keyboard So far the dongle to hdmi works great as does the 32 gb ram.I will run like this for a while before new upgrades.  I want to know the proper m2 to add: Crucial MX200 500GB M.2 Type 2280 (Single Sided) Internal SSD  CT8109162 Is the listed one on their parts picker for the m700 tiny. So what M2's work for you all? Second I have a house of intel pc's used to mine coins.  I have i3-6100t, I have i5-6400t, I have i5-6500t. I want to swap the g4400t in the lenovo for one of the better cpu's I just listed. Has anyone done this? I know the g4400t will work in my mining mobos and I know the better cpu's I listed should work in the lenovo.  I do not know how hardit is to do it . So if anyone has done a cpu upgrade please let me know.  Also any links  for the m.2 install or the cpu install would be nice.  SO far I found a ram install link on  you tu... Read more

I've seen several posts related to this in some way, but either no answer or somewhat different. In any case: The issue I have is that I recently purchased multiple ThinkCentre M700 Tiny's and all of them have the same issue. I can plug in either monitor into either individual display port and have it work, but if I try to plug in both, the second is not recognized and leaves the monitor blank. If I try to detect another monitor in Windows (7 X64 pro), then it shows "Another display not connected" that is available output on Intel(R) HD Graphics 530, but I cant select it, or use it in any way. If I apply, that "monitor" stays there indefinetly and another detect will bring up a 3rd. The monitors are connected directly via DP>DP and DP>DP. I've run Windows Updates entirely. No luck. I've tried removing the intel driver entirely and reinstalling from Windows Updates, no luck. I ran Lenovo System Update and installed all recommended and optional patches. Nothing. I've tried updating the BIOS to FWKT6AA from Lenovo's site. No luck. I've tried switching the monitor mode in BIOS away from auto, no luck and no options to enable dual monitor. I searched through all of the BIOS for any such option. I've upgraded the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver to 20.19.15.4474 (highest on Lenovo's update page) no luck I've tried upgrading the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver from Intel's website directly. They do not install and instead throw an error w... Read more

Hello, I have a M900 Tiny and I called Lenovo support and they told me that my motherboard needs to be replaced due to a bad USB port, a week went by and the part finally came in. I had the tech come out and everythig seems to be working expect the Optional displayport. I called in to the support line again and they told me they need to replace the board again!!!!! The part isn't in stock and they don't know when it will be in, this isn't accetable at all.. So I have 2 questions, 1) Is there a setting somewhere to get it working?2) Is it possiable they gave me the wrong motherboard that dosn't support the Optional displayport?3) Any other ideas? Thanks

Hello, I have an issue where the DisplayPort will only out put a max resolution of 2560x1440. I have a Samsung UHD U28D590D external monitor that runs a 4k resolution (3840x????@60Hz). If I plug in the monitor using the UltraDock's DisplayPort, my max resolution is 2560x1440. However, if I use an HDMI cable, the max resolution is as advertised (3840x???@29Hz) I've tried updating all the drivers on the W550s to the lates, updated the bios, and installed the recent monitor inf file.  I need the DisplayPort 4k@60Hz to work, as that's why I bought this machine! I know the display adapter supports it...it appears to just be a DIsplayPort/UltraDock issue...but I may be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jeb

A quick update: If I use an HDMI cable, I get the full 3840x2160 @30Hz resolution. Only the DisplayPort won't give me that resolution. Ultra Dock issue?

Hey guys. I'm trying to connect my HP Elitebook 8440p to my Toshiba flatscreen TV using a Displayport to HDMI connector. The video works no problem, but sadly there is no sound

I've put in about 2-3 hours trying to google solutions on my own to no avail. From what I have read, I should see an 'HDMI out' option in my playback devices list, but all I see are 'Speakers / HP IDT High definition audio CODEC' and 'Headphones (RTC) IDT High definition audio CODEC.' I have both show disabled and show disconnected devices enabled.

If I open up my nvidia control panel and select the 'Set up digital audio' option, I have the option to select my TV, but when I hit apply I still get no sound and no additional options appear in my playback devices list.

As far as I can tell all of my drivers are up to date.

Thanks for reading!

A:Displayport->HDMI sound issues.

It's possible that audio over DP isn't supported in your model.

I don't know that it will be shown as "HDMI" as it's not an HDMI port. It could be something like "Digital Audio (HDMI)", but that's just a guess. You can check to see if there are any devices not being displayed. If you right click on the speaker in the taskbar -> playback devices. Right click the white space and select the option for "Show Disconnected Devices" and "Show Disabled Devices".

Hello. I recently bought a StarTech MDP2VGA Mini Display Port to VGA Video Adapter Converter for my laptop, as I had a perfectly good monitor sitting in my closet that I had the idea to use as a second (extended desktop) monitor, but no VGA port built into the laptop.

Everything seems to be working great with good quality results, except for one thing, which is Sleep Mode. 9 Times out of 10 whenever the laptop goes to sleep, be it by a set time of inactivity, closing the cover, or manually telling the machine to go to sleep, when I wake it up, I get the ?blue screen of death? on my primary (laptop) display, which most of the time displays a heading of ?BAD_POOL_HEADER?, with the only way out to force the computer to shut down.

My specs are:

Computer:

? Dell XPS L702X
? Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) SP 1

Display Adaptors:
? Intel (R) HD Graphics Family
o Driver Version: 8.15.10.2321
? NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M
o Driver Version: 8.17.12.8562

MiniDisplay to VGA Adaptor:
? StarTech.com MDP2VGA Mini DisplayPort to VGA Video Adapter Converter

Second Monitor:
? Dell 1907FP

The steps I have taken so far have been checking to make sure all the video drivers are up-to-date and updating where needed, uninstalling software I installed in the last few days to try to see if I was blaming the issue on the wrong thing, likewise, I did a System Restore to about 3 days back. I also installed a driver for the monitor, which all it seemed to do was to have its name display in the Device ... Read more
