I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last week i brought my 2.5 yrs old T440 to Lenovo Bugis suppt center to replace a cracked LCD back cover (one fine day i noticed a crack along the righthand side hinge and after opening, the cover was hard to close & open!). I had a queue tkt that said waiting tme approx 5 mins, but it took 20 mins for the front desk asst to call me. He rightly said the warranty had expired and they need to charge me $50 (+gst) to assess how much it would cost to fix it. When i asked what they want to assess as the laptop was working fine, he said in that case i should pay $30 - to source for the broken part and only after that they can tell how much would the total repair cost be! To me, it didn't make sense as they are the 'makers', but the guy started explaining the parts are made by 3rd party suppliers and and that's the process they hv to follow for 'older' models! Then another colleague of him came to explain, but he also couldn't tell me the rational for not able to tell me upfront the charge for replacing a 'highly visible' broken part! They are cheats in my opinion!! I have been a ThinkPad user for nearly 20 years and never experienced such poor quality machines and bad service!!! Hell with Lenovo.

A:Lenovo Singapore Support stinks

since your machine is already out of warranty, source it online for 3rd party and get it done. Im having hell with my Lenovo too.

Hi,
I am going to Singapore soon, but will not stay there very long.
Could anybody in Singapore please tell me where i could get the Asus V9980 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra 256mb 3D card, LG DVD/CD Writer.

I have this motherboard, p4 2.4ghz, 512mb ram, windows 98se. The the 5950 ultra will work on my motherboard, right.

A:3D card store in singapore

I dont live in singapore and have barely ever been there but I can answer that part about the card\your mobo, yes the card should work in that mobo but will only run at 4X AGP, because it only supports a 4x slot. This shouldnt hold back the cards performance significantly though.

** Warning about OPUS IT Service Singapore ** Lenovo was my alltime favourite choice over the years.Sad to day it lost credibility by choosing a low level service provider OPUS IT as a partner. My case:Noticed a defect on my new 500S last month and as it is under warranty, walked in to OPUS Lenovo service center(thought [email protected] Paya Lebar Road will be crowded), I was been told that LENOVO will be contacting me in a week and I will get my laptop back in 3 weeks. Waited for 4 weeks, never even got a call from Lenovo- tried to reach OPUS but the number they gave never goes through it just disconnects every time, tried to reach them on mail but no response. Finally called Leanov support directly  and explained my situation only to know that they don't have any record of my case and will now try to reach OPUS for details and asked me wait for a call from OPUS.  .....5th week since submission & still waiting

Hi all, I'm moving to Japan soon and found out that they don't generally have DIY build it yourself computer shops there. It's far cheaper for me to buy my entire CPU system in Singapore, and then ship it to Japan rather than buying a fixed-up boxed from them.

The problem is, Japan uses a different voltage from Singapore - 100volt sockets (2 pin) compared to SIngapore's 3pin 230 volts (at a 50volt cycle per second, whatever that means)

I'm assuming, therefore, that if I were to buy everything here, I would find it difficult/dangerous to use my system in Japan? This despite a power plug converter? How do I go about solving this issue then? Do I need a different power supply box for my CPU Casing?

It still has to be a pretty powerful supply box as I'm intending to use the computer for gaming, which means it'll suck power like a fiend....

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A:BSOD Issue - New Lenovo T460 Win7 Professional

Only 318 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 350-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all). The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.Out of 5 memory dumps there were 4 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)- missing Windows Updates- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems- low-level driver problems- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html ).Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here:  http://www... My laptop was working fine last summer until the Windows Genuine Advantage kept popping up telling me it wanted to verify if my OS was valid. I tried to shut it down or disable it and windows started to behave strangely to the point that it would not load at all. I purchased the laptop in December 2008 from Micro Center in Houston brand new. I have the sticker on the laptop that tells me the OS is valid.

Lenovo did not ship with the rescue and recovery disks, instead it has a rescue partition. The rescue partition would not restore the laptop. So I tried the rescue and recovery DVD I created. Somehow it did not create the product recovery CDs. When I called Lenovo about this problem, they belittled me and then charged me $50 for the set of Product CDs. I thought my troubles were over, wrong!

After installing the CDs windows almost loaded and then it went to the blue screen of death. This happened a few times. I tried reinstalling the disks and everytime I would receive a different error message, it is missing drivers, it can't locate a file, etc.

Today it returned:
The application or DLL X:minint\system32\umpnpmgr.dll is not a valid Windows image, Please check this against your installation diskette.

Product Recovery could not find file Z:\UBREC.CMD

I called Lenovo and again, no help. I am at a loss. My laptop was fine until the Microsoft Genuine Advantage pop-up kept showing up. And Lenovo is not providing any support for the faulty CDs they sold me.

Hi guys this is my first post of sevenforums ever, and i am rather excited I am doing a downgrade from Windows 7 Professional OS to Windows XP SP2. The machine i am doing the downgrade is an HP 500B MT, I am using the HP Restore Plus DVD that came with the machine as well as the Operating System CD. I started the setup yesterday and it seems to be taking forever!!!

Please help

A:Downgrade from Windows 7 Professional to Windows XP Professional SP2

Hello teekash and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please forgive these questions - I mean no disrespect. Why are you downgrading to XP? Did you know that Windows 7 Pro has an XP Mode? Did the HP 500B MT originally come with Windows 7 or XP? If it came with 7 you may have issues trying to find XP drivers. Did you know that XP is now Microsoft's biggest security headache?

Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup

Windows XP Security Headache

As to why things are taking so long, one more question. Does the HP Restore Plus DVD have Windows 7 on it or XP? If it has Windows 7, why not do a clean install of XP using an XP installation disk? It will format the hard drive (erase everything) during the install process. But you may still have driver issues if the HP originally came wiht Windows 7.

Please advise on the proceedure, safest / cleanest way to uninstall the X64 version now on the machine and then install a standard 32 bit XP. Thank you.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I have a Windows 7 Desktop mainly used as a server to store files and I have a Windows 7 Laptop used to mainly access and store files to the desktop. I do not use homegroups because I find that workgroups work better for what I am doing. I have researched hours and hours on forums and googling troubleshooting tips but I can not find one thing that will fix my problem. So here it is....
My laptop can see, view and access my desktop no problem. It shows up on the network and also sees the media devices on it. I can ping and view and alsp remote to desktop. So this is working as expected.
My desktop however cannot see my laptop on the network. I can ping and view laptop by ip address though. I can also see the laptop as a media device. I just cannot see the laptop as a computer on the network.
I have renamed workgroup, reconfigured windows firewall, disabled windows firewall, and pretty much done everything basic and also some minor registry changed but converted back becuase problem did not fix.
I appreciate any help thanks.

The date and time must be correct.  You must have a live internet connection.
Then you download and run the update troubleshooter.

Hi,I have a brand new Carbon X1 5th Gen and just bought the Explorer VR headset. I run Windows 10 with everything updated. I cant get my VR headset to work, as it is complaining about an unsupported driver from Intel. When trying to update it to the one supporting Mixed Reality, its fails during the installation, and refers to Lenovo. Where can I find the supported Intel driver for my X1 Carbon so I can my Lenovo Explorer to work. Its really sad that two products from the same company doesnt seamlessly connect/update so things work.

Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!

You should be OK with an upgrade, just make sure your computer is clean before doing it. Dump the trash, do a disk cleanup, defrag the HD etc.

I am a college student enrolled in A+ PC Repair, for my A+ PC Technicians certificate, I recently downgraded my OS from Windows Media Edition to Windows XP Professional. I currently own a Gateway. As soon as I was able to get into the desktop, the computer had no recollection of any drivers, possibly because from scratch they were all outdated which meant that I needed a flash drive and another computer to download all the drivers. While I did that, the computer suddenly refused to read any usb ports, it read once, I used a Sony Flash USB Drive, and it had something like Virtual Compress, which I clicked just to see what it was, it seems like it didn't do anything however. Anyways after a few weeks of trying to figure out how to get it online, I was looking over the internet and doing various modifications to it. I eventually took the entire computer apart and put it back together ,which seemed to fix the speed issues and even allowed some drivers to be reread. However after I fixed the BIOS settings, to their default settings, and tried to get into the OS I started getting this Blue Screen error stating IO System Verification Error in NCIS.SYS (WDM Driver 24b) (NTFS.SYS+6a3fc at BAF1B3FC) and I cannot get into the login screen. However when I run the computer in Safe Mode, the computer runs perfectly, even with Safe Mode Networking. Any suggestions?

A:Downgraded from Windows Media Edition to Windows XP Professional...ERRORS!

First things first, how did you downgrade? What steps did you follow?

Next what "modifications" have you done?

As for safe mode, it would load fine as none of the drivers and non-essential files are loaded, so there are no conflicts etc.

I recently purchased a Dell and the only way the hardware options I wanted would come is if the OS was Windows 7 Pro with an included Windows 10 Pro License.  So I received the computer and I would like to upgrade it from the start.  However, I can't seem to find instructions on how to do this.
I have looked at the How to Set Up your new Dell Computer on the Knowledgebase, but it does not mention my situation.
I have looked at the Windows 10 Upgrade Walkthrough on the Knowledgebase. But it does not mention my situation.
I have tried the WIndows 10 Downgrade System on the Knowledgebase, but again it does not mention my situation.

The computer came with a purple CD that sys to ensure that the BIOS setting is set to UEFI mode prior to installing Windows 10.  But if I adjust this setting and run the CD there is no mention about upgrading to Windows 10 in the options available.
The Windows 10 Upgrade walkthrough talks about updating the Windows 7 install with Service Pack 1, but none of the info that came with the PC shows an upgrade code which I would probably need since the Microsoft free upgrade time period has expired.
So how to I upgrade this new computer to windows 10?  Just wondering what info I am missing.  I assumed this would be simple.  I shouldn't have to reinstall all my preinstalled software and drivers on a brand new computer on day one.
Thanks,

You have a MSDM tab embedded in your UEFI BIOS which contains your Windows 10 Pro OEM Product Key. Windows 10 RS1 Installation Media will automatically input this Product Key during Installation and Windows will automatically activate when you are online. See here for more details:

No sound was audible with any media player but system device manager showed every thing to be working fine. Hello everyone, Since about five days ago, everytime I turn on my laptop, it starts normally. It goes into the black-background lenovo startup with a white loading symbol. Then, after maybe 5 rotations of the dots in the loading symbol, it freezes. It does not progress into starting up. At this point, I usually turn off my laptop by holding the power button. If I don't turn it off myself, it turns off automatically a few minutes later.  Every 2 or 3 times I turn on my computer, instead of the loading symbol, it turns into a "Preparing Automatic Repair" mode. I have seen the loading symbol for this mode but then it disappears and nothing happens and it turns off automatically after ten minutes or so. I've seen the same solution that help others with the same problem which is to take out the DVD from the laptop. I did this and my problem has not changed.  edit: g500 to g505
