Flight Sim 2004

Q: Flight Sim 2004

Hi

MS Flight Sim 2004 requires an 8mb video card. My laptop has all the requirements except I have an intergrated video card. Will I still be able to play this game?

I have 512mb of ram and running Win XP home. The game reqires 128mb.

Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have a Pavilion a1245c (AMD Athlon 64 processor, 2.19Ghz + 1.00GB ram) and a GeForce4 MX 4000 (Directx9.0c) video card. Have updated video driver and got a patch for the Flight Sim, but I still get a somewhat slow frame rate for Flight Sim 2004 and my Flight Sim X barely works with extremely slow frame rate and much of the scenery doesn't load (I get the planes + some background scenery but no airport terminals!!!). Of the two games, 2004 works but is so annoying as the screen seems "sticky"/"jumpy" - it's just not a smooth picture - if that makes sense?

Any Flight Sim buffs out there who can help?

A:Flight Sim 2004 & X

Your system barely meets the minimum requirements for FS2004. (The recommended requirements for FS2004 is 1GB RAM, not including what the operating system uses). The video card barely meets the recommended requirements for FS2004. You can't actually update the drivers because Nvidia no longer supports the gForce4 series of cards.

Your video card and RAM do not meet the minimum requirements for FSX. Your video card alone will need 2 to 4 times more RAM (depending on if you have the 128MB or 64MB version of the card).

I'm actually surprised that FSX actually let you install it on your system. If you want a better answer, go to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest and run the test on your system. You will get recommendations.

You can use fraps to make a movie/ingame footage of your game and take screenshots.

I'm not too sure but I think you can add music in windows movie maker or even nero.

I installed MS Flight Sim 2004 on my computer and it tries to start(goes to opening graphic) and freezes there. I cannot figure out why it won't go any farther. Anyone have any ideas???

512 MB of DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 7500 Video Card

A:MS Flight Sim 2004 Won't Start

I am not sure about this problem. Maybe your Video Cards Drivers haven't been updated. Try downloading the latest drivers for your Video Card.

Also you need DirectX v9.0 or higher to play MS Flight Simulator. If you have DirectX versions lower than v9.0 then you should update it to v9.0 or higher.

Other than that, you have met all of the requirements to play the game.

Although I've found that the startup routine can find the FS CD even when it is in the wrong drive, do be sure you have placed it in the same drive you installed it from, if you have more than one.

If you have WinXP also check the Administrative Tools > Event viewer log for errors. You may find something either under System or Applications.

Flight Simulator 2004 has recently stopped working on my machine. It worked fine for several months up until a week or so ago. I've installed some Windows System Updates and a Lock-on demo, but otherwise nothing's changed that I know of.

I tried uninstalling, cleaning all my drives, defragmenting everything, virus and spyware scans, then reinstalling with anti-virus software disabled (with reboots between all the steps, of course). Same thing. The initial screen comes up, but just sits there and goes to "not responding" in Task Manager.

I thought maybe it was the video card, maybe one of my updates was a driver, but I'm not sure how to check that or replace them. I have a GeForce 5200 FX if that helps.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

A:Flight Sim 2004 not responding

Fixed. It was directx. I checked dxdiag and it said I had directx 8 which is ridiculous since I know I had 9.0 a few days ago. I downloaded 9.0c and tried installing it twice but it wouldn't install. It said some files weren't copied. Then I installed 9.0a from FS9 disk 1 and now dxdiag says I have 9.0c installed, but several files are old versions and should be replaced. No thanks, it's working now so I'm not going to mess with it.

I feel silly and I apologize for it being something so stupid, but I was so sure I had the correct directx, plus it worked fine several days ago. Maybe this'll help someone else...

Hello all,

I have a problem. I have not played my 2004 MS flight sim in awhile, so the other day I decided to play and the game starts off fine but as soon as I pull the yoke back and the plane leaves the ground the computer would reboot. I set the option to display the error code instead of rebooting and I receive the following message BAD_HEADER_POOL I went into MS CONFIG and unchecked MAPPING INDEXING and then got the error message BAD_HEADER_CALL So I switch back on the mapping index and from what I gather I have a bad or conflicting device driver. I know since the last time I actually played flight sim I have installed the following: DIAMOND PCI 7.1 EXTREEM SOUND CARD/ MEMOREX DUAL LAYER DVD BURNER that also came with NERO burning software BTW Nero always has an error when burning DVD's but that?s all I have changed with the computer and before that flight sim worked great. I tried to update all current drivers for the above mention items and all are updated or I already have the most current version. So at this point I'm at a loss as what to do now. Any help or ideas?

In my EVENT VIEWER under APPLICATION I see a few things that maybe related to the crash. I get APPLICATION ERROR and APPLICATION HANG and Under SYSTEM I get ERROR DCOM Event-10005

It seems that I have an intermittent problem with the game. I flew from Seattle to San Francisco in 3.2 hours without a hitch. Then later in the day (after shutting down the computer for a few hours) I took off from San Francisco and 10 minutes later the game just goes away. No message, no warning, no nothing. Just goes right to the desktop.

I have reloaded the game several times with a clean boot. Still have the problem, sometimes.

Iím pretty sure that itís not overheating. My cpu, hard drives and video card never get over 30 deg. C.

The system is brand new and I have run all of the diagnostics over the memory that I can find.

Here is my system:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz with hyper threading
Motherboard: ABIT IC7 ĖG with hyper threading and built in RAID 0
Sound Card: Creative Audigy2 Platinum
Graphics Card: PNY Verto GeForce FX 5900 Ultra AGP with 256 MB DDR
Memory: 2 Gig.
Hard drives: 2 wd 360DGRTL Raptors hooked into the RAID 0
Case: Super Alien with 6 fans and temp indicators. Extra fan added in the slot next to Video Card
OS: Windows XP Pro with service pack 1

Anyone seen this problem before? Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance,

A:Flight Simulator 2004 skins?

Hi Daniel,

Try going to the Abacus software website. They have a program called FSRepaint (very creative!). You can download a demo of it from their downloads page I think. This will let you view all of your exsiting aircraft and repaint them. Unfortunately the demo will not let you save them.

Alternately go to the avsim website and have a look at their forums. You should be able to find what you're looking for.

Hello everyone I'm new to the forum here but am an active member of the flight simulator community, just for fact I speak French, English and Spanish.

Anyway I have been looking for solutions to the most annoying problem you can have in gaming; stuttering and CTD's.

When I go onto Flight Simulator 2004 it all seems to run fine at startup and then it'll run jerkily while on a flight. On the ground there doesn't seem to be much problem but once in the air the simulator will begin to stutter like crazy. A hiccup about every 5-7 seconds which is very annoying. FS2004 is running at 60FPS for me constantly and it doesn't drop below that but when panning and having the aircraft move you can see the stutters clearly.

The other thing is that when I close FS I get this Windows Error Reporting message that states that my simulator has just crashed. I've tried reinstalling the simulator about twice now and it does not fix the problem.

It states is as an APPCRASH and it says the FAULT MODULE to be STACKHASHd9d3d something. I searched the file on my system and nothing popped up. Looked for information online and nothing appeared as well on StackHash. The crash happens after I exit the sim.

Here is my current system, it seems very top notch for Flight Simulator:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium x64
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz ~ 3.80GHz/400MHz x 9.5 Mult

Have you updated your video drivers?

Have you gone into your settings and decreased some of the graphics settings? Start at the default settings and gradually increse them.

You can also increase your frame rate in your graphics setting, the recommended framerate is 20-30,

Try re-install if all else fails

I've just bought Microsoft Flight Sim 2004, it installed fine and I restarted the computer like it said.
Now, when I go to run the game, it says 'please insert Flight Sim disc 4 and start the program again' or something along those lines, but I do have the disc inserted.
I've tried it in both my D:\ drive(DVD/CD player) and my H:\ drive(CD-writer), and I've even tried disabling my CD-RW drive in windows so the game only has the D:\ drive to look for the CD.
I've tried putting in one of the other three CD's, which autorun and then I click to play the game but it says to insert CD 4 again.
I've had a look at the disc, it's brand new and it looks perfect and it worked fine for installation.
I'm running windows XP and it's an MSI nforce 2 with onboard graphics and sound and Athlon 2000XP. Any ideas?

I don't have 2004 yet, but in 2002 you have two install options...one where it required the CD's and another (larger) option where it copied everything to the hard drive.

If 2004 has that option, might try going with the larger install.

I am checking on this problem for a non-member so please bear with me. Has anyone had trouble with Windows 8 and Flight Simulator 2004? THE problem is this -- when we install FS2004 it seems to go in ok but when we try to create a flight and choose an aircraft the plane does not appear in the preview screen. The plane can be flown as normal but it just doesn't appear in the preview plane. Also , I installed some new planes downloaded from AVSIM.Com &/or Flight Sim.com, they doe not even appear in the airplane library. But if I go into the EXPLORER and open the airplane file the new planes that I installed are in the proper locations but do not appear in the library as mentioned
. I have uninstalled this program and reinstalled it at least a half dozen times but no change. Can anyone help with this problem. I cannot get the TSG Sysinfo at this time as the unit is approx. 100 miles away from my location at this time. I would appreciate any help I can get on this problem. I tried emailing Microsoft but cannot seem to get to the right location within their system. To contact them by phone is very costly so that's were I'm at.

A:Solved: Flight Simulator 2004 and Windows 8

There is a compatibility error with the Flight Simulator 2004 game.

Windows 8, being the latest in Windows genre of operating system requires latest softwares to run with.

The game is preety old and don't conform to the requirments of Windows8 compatibility.
Flight Sim X is compatible

The only chance for 2004 is as below but I do not think it will work

There is a feature built in every Windows which is Backward Compatibility, which helps newer windows to run older programs but the Flight Simulator is too old.
Try to run the game in compatibility mode,
Right Click on the Game Icon and from the menu select Run in compatibility mode, and select Windows previous versions mask. If this method fails, you are back to FS X

I'm looking to either buy or download additional scenery add-ons to MS Flight Sim 04. Ideally, I'd like the add-on to apply new scenery textures to the entire USA, preferably more detailed and with better roads/highways.

Any suggestions for new scenery packs ? The higher and more accurate the detail, the better. There's just so much crap out there and I'm hoping that someone has some experience with this.

Thanks !

Installed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 on my Windows 7 Dell Inspiron laptop. Unable to get program to load. Tried by right click and selected run by administrator as a suggestion someone posted and nothing happens. I can see the program files are loaded
but I can't get it to load. I'm wondering if my security firewall is not permitting this to run.

Can you please post minidums for analysis? You can find them in C:\windows\minidump. Please zip in to single if you have multimple zip files.

Also, provide us with complete system specifications. Regards
