In IE11 the website page title is not showing in the window title bar. This is something that I rely on, especially for screenshots of pages to capture the page title as there is some important information in the page title for the web-based application
I use.

Preferred Solution: Page title missing in IE11

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hello! and thanks in advance...

somehow the toolbar is missing in ie, therefor I cannot get to tools/internet options and access anything, it won't let me right-click in ie at all, and does nothing when I click on hyperlinks and try to download anything... also at the bottom where I usually see when pop-ups are blocked I see the symbol for them when being blocked but I can't click on it to change settings like I normally would.. and only get a blank white box when I right click on the popup symbol.

Also, on the desktop when I try to right click the ie icon I get nothing.
so I tried to access it through control panel and I get nothing also.. but I sometimes see a flash of a box that quickly goes away when clicking on it repeatedly.

pleaseee help.. it's so irritating!
I'm new at this so I don't know much. thanks!

Hi and welocme. Lets do a malware scan first. Have you recently removed malware. Also what Antivirus and spyware tools are installed, thanks.I am moving this to the AM I Infected forum from XP for now. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found"... Hi Everyone,
I performed a search in this forum for a method to change the border/title bar from white to a different color..at least for me, the white color is WAY to bright..and it is very distracting. Doing a search about it elsewhere on the web..didn't help, in fact most result's state " it can't be changed ". I still feel like it can be..I KNOW I could go into the registry and change it. But before doing so I thought I'd get some feedback in here first.
Update: I guess I hadn't had enough coffee yet this morning...at least with the build I'm running (14361), it's easy to do what I wanted !

I tried IE8. This seemed to interfere with Mcafee. When I opened the security centre there was only a plain white box.
Couldn't 'uninstall' IE8 so I restored to before IE8.
This rectified the Mcafee problem but now IE7 seems corrupt.
There is no text in the title bar. The menu bar (favourite, tools etc is missing. Right clight on the title bar offers only restore, close etc.
Downloading is not working too well. There is no 'pop up blocked' menu displayed to allow downloads.
It's running on Xp home.
Everything was fine until I tried IE8 and then restored.
Nearly forgot to mention that the tabs are missing too!

Any ideas????

A:ie7 menu bar missing, no title in title bar

This MAY NOT be your exact problem, but....

IE7 uses Vista display criteria. Normally the Menu seems not to be there.

What they (idiots at Microsoft) did is replace the Menubar with a Context Menu. Right-click the Titlebar and you should see your Menu listing, and if you select View, you can check Classic Menubar(?) and get the Menubar back.

The other problems MAY be solved by resetting your Internet Options, especially the Advanced tab.

Can anyone help with this problem that I have in MS Word 2000.

I have created a 15 page document with a Title page and a Table of Contents(TOC).

I want to do the following:

1. create a footer with the following page format - page X of Y

2. Ensure that the title and TOC page do not display the footer numbering.

The help feature in Word says a section break should be inserted to prevent a page number from displaying. It is not clear to me where I should do this as the end of TOC page already has a section break and also the Help doesn't indicate how one can prevent page numbers from displaying on two pages.

Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

A:Preventing page numbering in title and table of contsnt page

Firstly, in the footer of the required section, you'll need a custom NUMPAGES field, but you'll have to tweak it to allow for however many pages aren't to be counted. I used "-1" because I had a first section containing one page.

See attached for the syntax (NB: you can't type the brackets, they must be inserted with CTRL+F9).

1. I cannot find a solution for a problem accessing Microsoft forums websites from Windows 10 - IE11 and Edge browsers:
in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page.   IE11 this page can't be displayed.
For about a year it worked at least from Edge. Now both cannot access Microsoft forums. All the other sites are accessible.
I am using a corporate proxy. The same sites are accessible from Windows 7 with IE11.
First I blamed our IE GPO with multiple settings. So for a test I placed my machine in Blocked OU (no IE GPO, proxy is set from different GPO).
Everything what I tried didn't help. The question: why just Microsoft forums (no other sites) are not accessible.
Did couple of tests from Windows 7 IE11 machines. The same Microsoft forums are perfectly accessible (all GPOs are applied).
Suddenly, found that one corporate Web App does the same : "This  page can't be displayed". On other Windows 7 it does work.
I am out of ideas now... cannot blame anymore our GPO or proxy...
Any advice?

But one of the viruses seems to of left a bit of itself behind as the title names of any page on Firefox or IE start with XXX: and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Also, when I go to add let's say Google as a bookmark the name will be XXX: Google, it's not affecting performance and I've scanned for any left-overs etc. etc. and can't find anything. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to TSF

Do you think you have a virus infection?

This should fix the problem of the squares:

Registry Fix

Click Start => Run => type in Notepad, press Ok.

Please copy everything from the quote below into Notepad

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Window Title"=-

Save this as fix.reg, Choose to 'Save type as' as All Files. Save it to your desktop.
It should look like this:
Double click on fix.reg & allow it to merge into the registry.

I think I've read enough to know that someone at MS thought they would "unclutter" IE by removing my title bar info. (They should have made it an option instead.) I know I can get this back if I switch to the Windows Classic theme but frankly I don't want to (I don't care for how it looks).

So 2 questions come to mind:Is there a tweak in IE or registry that will let me show this again?
Is there a feedback or comment site so MS has my vote on this subject?

Thanks for any help anyone can share. I don't want to go back to IE 8 if I can avoid it. There are some good advantages in the new version.

Take care.

I am using Word 2007 and am preparing some company accounts.

Each page has a title ( not strictly a header ) under which I would like to appear a horizontal line , the width of which would be the width of the text that appears in the body of the page.

Each page also has a page number as an automatically incremented footer and I would like to see a horizontal line above it , similar to that below the title as described above.

I know it can be done as I have seen sets of accounts done in this fashion and I am sure that it is an easy thing to achieve ........... when you know how !!

Does anyone know how ?

This is so frustrating. There is this program at work called VMS Pro. For some reason, when you full screen it, and you exit the full screen view, it leaves you with no title bar. Unfortunately, it's a company computer, so I can't download anything on it, or even run anything via peripherals without getting in major trouble.
Things I've tried:
Alt+Space > Restore, Move, Minimize, Maximize
Shift + Right Click
Right Click on Program Icon in Taskbar > Restore, Move, Minimize, Maximize
When I hit Alt+Enter, the Title Bar appears for like a nano-second and disappears again. I'm able to move the window by holding down shift and using the arrows on the keyboard.
Beyond that, I am confounded.
The IT guy here didn't know what to do and just ended up making me a whole new Windows 7 profile.
Any help would be great!

Hello there! I have a mail merge document that needs to have no fields in it after the merge is completed. I know I can select all and press Ctrl + Shift + F9 to get rid of the fields (and convert them to just regular text) but how would I make the merge do it automatically for me? Is there a way to get a macro to run after I do the merge? I don't mean to ask how to make this macro, I'm more interested in how to make it automatically run so that all I have to do is hit the button to complete the merge and it'll run the macro.

And on another note, is there a way to have a title page automatically inserted during a mail merge? (Possibly by running a macro with the merge, like I asked in that last question?) I have a directory mail merge that is coded to group different categories on different pages. I want the first page of the merged document to be a title page... but when I try putting that into my merge document, it repeats itself for every new category page.

Thanks so much!

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and IE11. I often get a situation while browsing where I click on a link to read an article and the page comes up blank with the text: This page can't be displayed.

This condition seems to happen randomly. I usually have several tabs open. Once IE11 starts doing this, the majority of tabs produce the same blank page. I even opened a new tab and clicked on Google where the same thing happened.

The solution is to close IE11 and restart IE11. I've tried other solutions such as a complete IE11 reset, but that doesn't cure the issue.

Is there a fix for this condition?

sorry, i'm not a computer wizard although I know my way around a bunch of these things.  Have the strangest thing, which I can't figure out.  I have this website, which is giving me always the "Page can't be displayed" error, together
with the TLS and RC4 comments.
Strangly enough, this is the only site where this happens.  All other various sites are accessible (e.g. Google, Facebook, Youtube), so it doesn't seem to be a connectivity problem.   FYI : i also get this same problem with Chrome.
I believe I had no problems with this on my previous computer, who also had IE11.  It must be some of the security settings or some kind of access right, although nothing special is installed.
I have the TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 turned on.  I also tried using the SSL 2.0 & 3.0 but no success.
Any suggestions ?

I tried in the Devices and Printers, Dell, both Printer preferences and printer properties but cannot find anywhere to set. I am fairly certain it is a setting that has to be made in Internet Explorer but they seem to have hidden it (I think I was using IE9 or IE10 in Win 7). In Excel you can set that parameter for each page in page setup.

First thought would be to use the link and exe file type restore reg files see what happens,

You might need to do this using clean boot or safe mode with networking to download the reg files ?
Use Clean boot,

Safe mode with networking,
Shut down your machine, Unplug-Hold the power button down for 30/45 seconds (Power Drain)
Power up and Tap the F8 key continuously until you see a black page with white text,
Use the down arrow key to toggle to safe mode with networking/ hit the enter key.

While accessing a particular site (subscription based patent search site), when I click on a link that says "98 hits" and rolling ove mouse cursor displays in the view taskbar "javascript:show_results(232...32)" where within brackets there is some reference number.

Clicking this link results in a blank page in chrome with the page title (or page name - what appears on the rower's top most region) saying "display.pl (1 X1)"

the same link works on other computers.

Firefox and IE also do not display anything, however their titles are different.

I tried reinstalling Javascript. It did not work.

Tried turning computer off then back on, but didn't correct the problem.

I've used computers since 1980, and have never seen this happen. What caused the bars to disappear and how does one get them back?

A:Solved: Title and Menu Bar missing in Task Manager

Just double click on the border near the top, that will fix it.

Edit. You can double-click anywhere on the border, all you did was toggle minimal view.

On 8 with IE10 there was no problem.
I could go to www.charter.net and successfully follow the link to TV Listings
After upgrading to 8.1 with IE11 there is a small problem. It only shows a spinning wheel and not the listings.

It does the same on another pc I upgraded to 8.1 from the store.
If I use Chrome, the TV Listings shows properly.

Any ideas or solution to fix IE11 without switching to Chrome for one page?

Thank you.

A:IE11 failing to load 1 link on page after 8.1 update

In IE11, you should be able to upper right corner to Tools then to Compatibility View settings, just click the Add button then just add that page to the list of pages that require compatibility mode.

Approach 2

While preparing standard system image Build 1511 of Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit (workgroup, non-domain, stand-alone PC) I am experiencing an issue with IE11. This is a clean install, no software loaded, no IE add-ons other than defaults, no user accounts save the Admin account, no tweaks other than logging turned on, Windows updates not even run yet.

While logged in under the built-in Administrator account if I leave the Local Security Policy/Security Options setting of "User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for the Built-In Administrator account" DISABLED then IE11 works fine. If I ENABLE this setting then reboot, IE11 then fails to load some pages (page not responding, long hang followed by the error report and IE must be re-launched). Specific pages consistently cause this (so they have been my test pages). Kelley Blue Book - New and Used Car Price Values, Expert Car Reviews generates the issue consistently as does Online data backup software - Download SyncBackPro | 2BrightSparks If I install Firefox or Chrome it works fine in those browsers and also on Edge.

I have reloaded several times from clean install, reformat and this continues to happen. I could just dismiss it however I am conerned other pages may also fail and many things withing our company, sadly, require IE for one reason or another. I have tried this on a clean laptop and desktop and the issue happens on both. If I try it on a Hyper-V install from the same build the error message appears b... Read more

I'm having an issue customizing the Start Page registry key in Windows Server 2019 (this method works fine in 2016) I would load C:\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT and add \Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page REG_SZ "Company specific URL"
and when a new user logs in they'd get the "Company specific URL" but with Windows Server 2019 this isn't working.
I have also tried adding "First Home Page" and "Default_Page_URL" and it doesn't make a difference, it seems some sort of mini setup is configuring the registry keys and ignoring or overwriting what I entered into NTUSER.DAT from the
Default user profile.
I've also got IE Enhanced Security Configuration disabled for Admins and Users along with the following other registry keys set that all are working fine.
[HKEY_USERS\DefaultUser\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Friendly http errors"="no"

[HKEY_USERS\DefaultUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

[HKEY_USERS\DefaultUser\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

Wondering if anyone has found a workaround or missing key that also needs to be set, thanks.

Hi there

IE11 seems to have a strange "Feature". When you close a Web site with an active download the whole thing closes and the download disappears -- IE 11 shows no windows open.

However press CTRL+J and you'll see the download lists again. If there's no activity press PAUSE and then press RESUME and then it should continue from where it stopped.

To some this might seem obvious but I've seen people re-start a 2hr download because they thought they had lost their currently active download when they accidentally closed the web site.

A:IE11 Closing web page stops download but you can resume

Interesting find I'll have to test that later this evening,
Are you mostly using metro interface or desktop ?
Just out of curiosity why would some close ie during a download ?

IE11 is returning a blank page from support.microsoft.com. This is essentially a new install of 64bit Win 7. IE returns the page when I am in the Administrative Account. I changed the account from standard to administrative and it worked. I then changed it back to standard and it failed. I reset IE11. Now that account fails regardless of its type. It is also unable to add search engines. I also had trouble with MS forums. All other web pages that I have tried load normally.

Any ideas? thanks

Hi guys. I have a problem with Internet Explorer 11. It tries to download every web page I visit. Now I can't open the Get Windows 10 app and I can't log in to my Microsoft Account in OneNote 2013. I tried to reset IE using Internet Options, but clicking on it in Control Panel or in Internet Explorer doesn't do anything.
Microsft Fix it 50195 (for reseting IE) says:

There was a problem starting inetcpl.cpl
Invalid access to memory location.

I ran a boot-time scan with Avast and it found one thread (Win32:Rootkit-gen [Rtk]) in the file C:\Program Files\Tbccint\ToolbarService\ToolbarService.exe and moved it to the chest.

I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it found a few PUP-s (a few where some of my Chrome extensions).
I used System Restore to restore my PC a few days back but it couldn't complete the restoration (although it uninstalled some of my programs).

A few days later I ran again a boot-time scan with Avast and it didn't find any threads.

Btw. between the scans on the 24th and 28th I only installed HexChat.

Should I try to restore my PC using System Restore in Safe Mode? Or does someone have another idea?

I have recently upgraded 32bit and 64bit windows 7 laptops from IE9 to IE11, with IE10 and 11 admin templates used. EPM for 64bit is disabled. One IE policy shared by 32/64bit laptop.
The intranet main web page has a number of links to internal servers web applications, external websites, external servers.
In IE9 there were no issues connecting to all the links 32bit and 64bit laptops.
After upgrade of IE11 on 32bit laptop all the links work.
After upgrade of IE11 on 64bit laptop NOT all the links work for internal servers web application. But all links work on the same machine if i use another browser like chrome.
Here is something even more odd, if i click an external site in the IE11 browser and then go back to the intranet home page all the links work. But if i open up a new tab, go to the intranet home page and then click the internal website pages it does not
work until i click an external link.
Does anyone know what would cause this or how to monitor/track where the problem lies. Only effects 64bit laptops and kicks into life when clicking on an external site, but always works in chrome.
